Systemmgr.c,line:4038,error launching application

I just formated my pc and i had to reinstall the palm software again.
I install the software and tried to do hotsync but the message above always happen.
I tried to do this direct to palm Tungsten E2 and the same message appears even whith the cable disconected.
If you have a way to recover the information in palm before do the reset, please help me
Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Is this message on the E2?
Do you get the message anytime you try to access any icon on the E2?
If it is, you can try a soft reset to resolve the error.
If the soft reset doesn't work, you will need to hard reset the E2. The hard reset will erase all data on the E2.
I assume you did not export the data from Palm desktop and save before you re-installed Windows and Palm desktop.

I am having exactly the same problem on my LifeDrive. The entire message I get when I try to HotSync is:
"A reset was caused on 11/30/06 at 1:09 am
    while running "":
    SystemMgr.c, Line:4038, error launching application"
I also noted that, if I try to access "Files" from the launch window it also causes a reset, with the following information:
    "FileRegistry.c
    line:833
    can't open app DB"
I hope that this additional information might help in recognizing a correcting the problem

It would help to know what happened when you followed Holvoetn's advice in the previous thread:
    http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=windows_hotsync&message.id=32227#M32227
    Also, what OS and version?
Did you used to be able to successfully hotsync with your E2 and it stopped working or have you never gotten it to work?
Did you upgrade from a previous Palm device?

Is there a solution to this problem?  I have tried both a soft and hard reset to no avail.  I have a Tungsten E2 and Windows Vista.  My Palm is brand new.

To perform a Hard Reset: (Palm Knowledgebase article #887)
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/887_en.html
While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.

  • HELP: TE2 SystemMgr.c Line:4038 error - can't synchro with new Outlook 2007

Hello.  I just had Outlook 2007 installed (under XP pro) at my office, along with a new computer arriving...  I tried to reinstall my palm software and do a synchro...  and I get this error message:
    SystemMgr.c, line:4038.  Error launching application.
I tried resetting the handheld, I tried reinstalling the software, I tried downloading the Outlook 2007 soft from PALM...  nothing changes this and I can't synchronise.
HELP!  Anyone know what to do???
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

I installed Office 2007 on my computer at work running XP Pro.  Since then I have not been able to sync my TE2 using the USB.  I have downloaded the Outlook 2007 conduit, unzipped it and installed it - still no luck - tried again and still no luck. (Does it matter where in the program files the Outlook 2007 conduit is installed?)  I have tried a soft reset at least 3 times.  When I press the hotsync button, the device reads:  "Connecting with the desktop using cradle/cable."  There is no message on the desktop.  There is no movement on the device.  After a short time, this message appears on the device: "HotSync problems -- The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again.  My last successful hotsync was 7/17/08 -- the day before I installed Office 2007.  What should I try next?

  • StemMgr.c, Line: 4038 Error

I am receiving the above error, how do I re-load HotSync when I cannot Sync or reload the software?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

I changed from a Tungsten E to E2. Was able to perform HotSyncs. Loaded some new software from the CD it came with and when I went to sync again, received the Fatal Alert: System Mgr.c, Line: 4038, Error launching application. At that point the only option is to select Reset.
I am very suprised how much slower the E2 is compared to the E. Is that normal?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2
Since you are getting the problem fatal alert, you really need to perform a hard reset and rename the backup folder. hard reset will erase all the data on the e2 including those 3rd party apps.
    1. in doing a hard reset, push and hold down the power button and push at the same time the reset button for one second. let go only of the power button when you have palm powered. it would ask you to erase all data. push the outer upper rim of the 5 way navigator to erase the data on the hh. just finish setting up you device. you don't need to reinstall the palm desktop.
    2. if your data is in outlook, you can hotsync and then create a new username. but if data is in palm desktop, then you need to rename the backup folder under c:/program files/palm/(userfolder that contains your data) and locate for backup, right click backup and click rename into backupold.
    3. before hotsynching, change the PIMs to desktop overwrites handheld. you click the hotsync manager on the system tray. go to custom and make sure you are under the correct username. still on the custom window, change the action of the conduit to dekstop overwrites handheld for calendar, contacts, task and memos by clicking the chnage button.
    4. click on ok and done. hotsync to same username.
    hope this will help you.
the handheld will be slower if you have lots of data and applications on the handheld.

</servlet-mapping>The client did locate some code, but not all. From the java console, I discovered several exceptions due to servlets referred and not found. I tried to map some of the central servlets in our application, but stopped. I thought, this cannot be right. We have very many servlets in our application. It shouldn't be nescessary to map them all in our web.xml... Is it?
    What am I missing?

Ok.. hmm, life was easier before...
I tried to add the http.webdir.enable="true" to the only orion-web.xml I could find (under j2ee\home\application-deployments\{web-root}\{context-root}\orion-web.xml
Don't know if this should be in another location, we do not deploy this. This is generated during deployment from our JDeveloper deployment profile). But after the container was restarted, the file was reverted to the old version without this attribute set. Frustrating...
45 servlets are now registered in our web.xml. That is 3 servlets which should be accessible to the user from the address bar in the browser, and 42 servlets accessible from either the client or the server programmatically.
But is it then nescessary to add both <servlet> tag and <servlet-mapping> tag for one servlet, or is the <servlet-mapping> tag only nescessary for those servlets, which should be available to the end user, and not directlly called from the application itself?
I still get an exception when trying to instanciate the application. Our application uses one or two properties files which it needs to read upon instanciation. They live in {context-root}\WEB-INF\conf\
OC4J doesn't seem to give access to this folder anymore. What do I have to include in our web.xml in order to give the appropriate read access to this folder? Should only be readable server side from a Servlet. Contents are communicated to the client through this servlet.

  • [APP-V] Error launching application

    Hello,
I have a problem with software on a computer,
all other software runs, even software works perfectly
    on other posts.
    When I run "Freemind"
    I am "freemind started"
    but immediately after I "freemind
    stopped."
A quick tour of the logs and I
    found this:
An error occurred while opening the
    virtual registry (section: 9),
    rc: 07B01F0C-0000004A
A search later I saw that we could
analyze the behavior of the software with procmon,
but I don't understand how to analyze
    the result too.
    thank you

    Hello,
    That error is harmless - as stated in previous posts;
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a9fbd31b-c07e-4b30-8e6f-4bf5a76d10ae/an-error-occurred-while-opening-the-virtual-registry-section-9-rc-07b01f0c0000004a?forum=mdopappv
I would assume that you have ensured that all prerequisites for Freemind are included in the package (such as JRE)?
Any reason not to post how you created the package and what your client machine looks like in terms of what software is installed?

  • Air App for Android - error 301: application descriptor missing

    Greetings!
I've been building in Flash for a while but am brand new to mobile development.  I'm currently trying to create my first Android app, a very basic game called "302 Saves The Galaxy". I don't intend to sell the game.  I'm really just trying to learn my way through the publication process for future projects.
I've been able to get to the very last step in creating the apk file and I'm getting this error from the command-line process -
"Error 301: Application descriptor missing/cannot be opened"
Here's a screen shot of the command line window -
Here are a few other details about my process -
In Flash, I selected to publish to Air 2.0 because that's the only option I had (ie, no Air 2.5 option)
I've triple-checked and all spellings seem to be correct in my command-line syntax
I'm sure I'm missing something obvoius here.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, Pahup!
Thank you SO MUCH for that tip!  That solved the problem!  Like I said, I knew it must be something pitifully easy that I was overlooking.
Anyway, I really appreciate your taking the time to respond.

actually there are 2 problems here:
file:///Documents and Settings/... will work, but this means the path:
/Documents and Settings/... on the current path.
if you have to include the "c:" part first, then there needs to be only 2 leading slashes, because "/C:/Documents and Settings/..." is not a leagle pathname (even after replacing the file separators).
However the colon (":") char is not legal in a URL, so has to be escaped.
Best to just use: "file:///Documents and Settings/..."

  • Launch Application Error in PC Suite in XP Laptop

    Hi
I can download PC suite onto Windows XP laptop and use all its functionality with my 6230 phone
But when I end my laptop session and logout I cannot use any of the functionality when log back into my laptop
    Get launch application error
When I download PC suite again , all functionality restored but lost again when logout of laptop

    Hi,
I think that problem can be releated to internet connection so could you try to start Launch Application when you have internet connection open and also when you do not have disconnected from net. Does problem happen in both cases?
Anyway, I would be nice to get some log files from Launch application....(then I can try to find reason for this problem)
If you can take those log files, do this:
    1. Go to ttp://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html and download Filemon (it is end of the page).
    2. Start FileMon.exe and click 'Options', 'Filter/Highlight..' and set string: *Launc* to 'Include' option.
    3. Go to http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Regmon.html and download Regmon (it is end of the page).
    4. Start RegMon.exe and click 'Options', 'Filter/Highlight..' and set string: *Launc* to 'Include' option.
    5. Start "Launch Application" manually and when you get that error message, save logs from both applications and attach those log files to your response.

  • Unable to launch application with webstart

Hi all, hope someone can help
I recently installed j2se 5.0 update 1 and uninstalled my earlier version of 1.4.2_06.
Since uninstalling the earlier version I am unable to run my application, I get the following error:

The application runs fine if I uninstall version 5.0 and revert to 1.4.2_06
but I would like it to be compatible with newer versions of java.
P.S. Im not a programer so if you could explain to me in simple terms what Im doing wrong it would be great.
    Thanks in advance
