T-Bird thinks an email I'm sending is SPAM, how do I tell it otherwise?
I'm trying to respond to a message that came in requesting some information, I replied and filled in the data requested, clicked on send, and an Alert message popped up stating "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: This message was classified as SPAM and may not be delivered. Please check the message and try again." What do I need to do to convince T-Bird and/or the server the message is not SPAM?
This kind of rejection is from either your mail service provider (refusing to send the message) or the recipient's mail service provider (refusing to accept the message). Usually the recipient's server.
Are you sure the message was legitimate and not a phishing scam?

If this just started, and before you could send and receive just fine, then it is a problem with Mac Mail.
It is IMHO one of the Worst Mail programs ever written.
You are not alone this ends up happening to a lot of Mac Mail users, for No good reason.
It is not you ISP, it is not your settings. It is Mac Mail just decides to stop allowing you to send mail.
If you want it to never happen again stop using Mac Mail and find another Mail program. Any Other Mail program. -

Well there are apps for that, but iPads and others are not suseptable to viruses, if they are its very very very small number. So I would suspect that you are fine, but check the app store for an app that would scan for viruses, i use Virusbarrier to scan downloads i get in emails, or links.

Our Yahoo email account is sending out spam messages
our yahoo email account received a spam message that I stupidly opened. Now we are receiving messages from our contacts saying they are receiving strange attachments. We changed the password. Should we be sending a group message to all of our contacts? Should we be scanning the iPad for viruses?
There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPad, unless it has been jailbroken (ie, hacked to allow apps from outside the App Store). So you didn't get infected with anything, and opening the message had nothing to do with it.
Your e-mail account probably got hacked and is being used to send spam. Changing the password was all that is needed, just make sure it's a good, strong password not used by any other online accounts. Also, if you were using your old e-mail password for any other online accounts, they may have been compromised. There's a lot of information in the typical e-mail account that can help a hacker locate all your other online accounts. -

To reply to your question. I forward a copy of all emails to an account "[email protected]" suddenly on this past Thursday I find some 66,000+ emails in the junk folder of that email account and a tremendous amount of actiivity on my server email. So my first thought is that I've been hacked.
All actual email accounts seem to be functioning fine, and I've had everyone change their email passwords.
The unusual amount of activity sent up the red flag.
BTW. I ran the postconf -n again and am including it.

Every time I try to back up my iCloud account it says I need to verify my email. Yes the email on my iCloud account is the same that's on my devices. Help so I don't have to go to the apple store.
You need to respond to the verification email sent from Apple by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you are checking the email address you used to set up your iCloud account. Check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

Blank sender/subject spam - how to get mail to rec as junk?
I'm getting hammered again in every mailbox with these blank sender/subject/body spam emails. I asked about a year ago and the word was to buy a spam filter software program. I'd rather get a script to do this. I recall I had one which I can't find. Rules doesn't have the ability to do this.
Please, anyone, help. I'm getting hundreds of these things.

Mail Adapter : Email has blank sender
I have an interface that creates an email and attaches 2 files. This all works great in our development environment. In our production environment, however, the same scenario creates an email with no sender.
The "from" attribute in the mail CC is set to GeFacto
In dev the email is created correctly with GeFacto as sender. If I look in Lotus Notes on the email's document properties the from field has "GeFacto".
In prod the email is created with no sender. If I look in Lotus Notes on the email's document properties the from field has "<GeFacto>".
Somehow prod is putting angle bracklets on the "from" attribute, which Lotus Notes is interpretting differently.
If I change the "from" attribute in XI to be <GeFacto> in dev environment (where it previously worked) it does the same as production and creates the email with a blank sender.
We have vers SP19 in development and SP16 in production - This is the only difference I can see because the CCs are identical.
Please help - I have been stuck on this for a while!Yes crazy but true!!!
We have development SP19, quality SP19 and then production SP16.
It makes debugging very difficult - especially with problems like this one.
They were supposed to put SP19 into production - but basis had so many problems putting it into the test systems - I think they are scared to put it live!!!! -

I would be very grateful for any help with this problem. It is really annoying as I think the email has gone only finding it after days in the outbox. It sends fine from the outbox when I open mail and resend. It also works fine if I initiate email in the mail app but not when using link in photos or safari.Taking the accounts offline was just the easiest way to reproduce the issue. I discovered the issue when a serverside configuration was preventing me from making a connection to the SMTP server, but the effect was the same -
I attempted to send multiple emails
The connection error prevented them from being sent so they were placed in the Outbox mailbox
I changed a configuration setting thinking it would fix the issue
Selected all messages in Outbox
Right-clicked and selected "Send"
Confirmed "Send"
Messages were removed from Outbox but not delivered and I cannot find where or if they were moved
I have been able to reproduce this by both taking the accont offline and misconfiguring my smtp settings. I did not anticipate the possibility that sending emails would be a destructive act. -
What to do about email with no sender?
I get email with no sender on my iPad only (not on my computer and not in webmail). There is no sender or no message, and it is dated 12/31/69. It will not delete. My ipad inbox is filled with this stuff now and I don't know what to do about it. I get 2 or 3 a day. Another post that I googled said they also had this but that it would delete. Mine will not, and this is getting to be a major problem.
I don't think I can set up a rule on the iPad to stop it. And, any rule that I set up on my iMac does not carry over to the iPad.Janice Fisher wrote:

Using the 10W USB power adapter, I can recharge my iPad's battery from 0% to 100% in just under 4 hours.
I am recharging the exhausted battery right now, and after 2 hours it has reached 64%. -

is there any way to setup a email account for sending only? i have a pop account that i fwd to my google acct, so all my mail is mapi thru google/exchange. i do need this account as a send email address so currently i have entered a wrong password so i do not duplicate my inbox. its annoying as i get the bad reteival popup continuessly. Many email products, like outlook allow you to decide which accounts to download. it should be a simple fix from Apple, but dont think there is any one to talk too about this. other option is to use the gmail app or chrome, but like apple's email better for iphone Any ideas??

Yes, I believe you when you say you can only send messages to other Apple products. The iPad is not a telephone, and therefore, it cannot text message. It can only iMessage, which means it can send and receive messages to/from other Apple products if they are on WiFi or an iMessage capable cellular network.
Email, however, is a whole different category. I don't really think you can only exchange email with other Apple products only. Make sure you have correctly identified the symptoms. -
A strange one-can recieve email, but not send
Okay, I have a powerbook G4 with an airport (graphite) and a siemens wireless gateway/modem provided by T**us
my mom's ISP. She can get on the internet okay (providing the signal doesn't get dropped, which it does) and downloads are fine, and she can recieve email, but not send. I have tried changing the smtp port to 587 from 25. Nothing from the activity monitor and no "whoosh". I have also tried setting up a new account (pop3) which the connection
doctor says is okay for sending and recieving. Any suggestions before I spend an hour or so with T**us' tech support
which for Macs isn't that good--frankly, I think the airport needs to be out of the picture---maybe it's fighting with the gateway??? :confused:
John BHi John: Did you get the "Send" issue figured out with your computer? If not, here are some things to check out. It sounds like you are using Telus. If so the settings for incoming and outgoing servers is as follows: Incoming > "pop.telus.net" Outgoing > "smtp.telus.net". Server port is 25, with no SSL enabled.
