T-Mobile SIM card won't work with my replacement factory unlocked iPhone 5
On Saturday, my rear camera on my factory unlocked iPhone 5 stopped focusing. I took it in to my nearest Apple store and they replaced it. Problem is, now I can't get my T-Mobile SIM card to work with the replacement phone. The guys at the genius bar sent me to T-Mobile to see if a new SIM card would fix the problem, but I'm still getting an "Unsupported SIM" error when I try to activate the phone. Any insights?
Do you have information about the model no. of original purchase that is printed on the back cover ?
What is model no. of the replacement iPhone 5 ?
If T-mobile SIM worked on the original purchase and does not work on the replacement iPhone 5, they gave you a wrong model.

after i update my mobile sim card its not working i got message from apple to change the sim card and i cant change it please i want fix the problem
Yes, the message is self-explanatory. You need a carrier who supports Apple's activation policy for an iPhone.

When I put my sim card in it comes up with no service. But I put it into a friends one and it started to work and recieve text. I'm not sure why it's doing this and what to do to solve it. Does anyone know?
Most likely you phone is locked to another carrier. Also, see this:

I travel a lot around the world and previously was able to insert a sim card from another network into my iphone and ipad and it worked perfectly.
Recently I updated my iphone and ipad to iSO 6.0. and after that when I put my German SIM card in to both iphone and ipad it would not work any longer?? Got a message No service and after Invalid SIM
I double check with my Carrier and was told all my SIM cards are fine and working correctly from their end.
I then put the sim cards into another HTC phone and it worked so why all of a sudden my iphone which I paid alot of money for purchasing a UNLOCKED phone as opposed to being strapped down with a 2 years contract now my iphone doesnt work with using different sim cards??
Please HELP?This definitely happened with the new 10.7.0.21! We are having the same problem, the apps are all in iTunes but cannot sync anymore! Apple needs a bug fix ASAP.

Globe SIM card doesn't work with my iPad
I really desire to use my iPad as my alternate Text messaging gadget but the problem is my Globe micro-SIM doesn't work on it. The name and Signal strength of my Telco, however, do appear on the upper left corner of my iPad. I cannot send text messages from my iPad using my Local service provider (Globe Telecoms Philippines). Any suggested solution to my problem, please...
The micro-SIM on an iPad is used only for internet data connection (web browsing, email, etc.), not SMS or voice.
Depending on what facilities are available to the people with whom you wish to communicate, you might be able to use one of the many internet-based forms of messaging. (For example, iMessage within the Apple ecosystem, AIM, Jabber, or GoogleTalk.) -

Recommend a (USA) micro SIM card for a factory-unlocked iPhone 4s?
Could be a simple question but I can't find the answer: I bought a factory-unlocked iPhone 4s (from Apple) for use while traveling abroad (mainly China). I already have a Chinese SIM card to use while I'm China. I just got the iPhone delivered to me in the US and I want to get it set up and tested before I travel back to China.
But I'm a little confused about where I can get a micro SIM card in the US to pop into the phone for a couple of days just to get it set up and running (I don't need a lot of time on the card).
Can I just pop into any AT&T or T-mobile store and pick up a micro-SIM card that will work?Hi, thanks for your answer. I just got off the phone trying to clarify this with AT&T. They tell me that they also have something called a "Go" card that I can get for my (factory-unlocked) iPhone that works without a plan. But, as you pointed out regarding the T-mobile card, it sounds as if I don't get full service on the iPhone. They told me that I won't be ablet to browse the web via the card, only when I'm connected via Wi Fi.
I am headed out to try to find a card today and will update this thread with any further discoveries. -
i bought this i phone from my cousin and it was with telus. they unlocked it. i came home and did a restore on the phone. i put a virgin mobile sim card in it and now can only recieve phone calls and call out. no messaging or data or anything else. I have done two restores since and removed my sim card. reset network settings and am running out of patience. the phone worked absolutly fine before upgarding to the new 6ios. please help me.
To be honest not being able to send or recieve messages and data is a carrier issue, not a phone issue since u said that your calls are working, if i were you my first course of action would be to get a new sim card from virgin mobile, or to restore the device as new one more time, if you restore the device as new AND get a new sim card from your carrier and those features still dont work, i would take the device to an apple store

My iPhone5 prompts while setting up "This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you are attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier" or "Request that this iPhone be unlocked" How can I unlock my new iPhone5 to function properly?
That means that the phone is locked to a carrier other than the one you are trying to use.
ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it.
Where exactly did you get this "new" iPhone 5? -
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked.
what does it mean?Have a look in Settings>Carrier
Again YOU cannot unlock it - only the original carrier can do it -
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked.Sounds like you are trying to use an iPhone that is locked to a particular
wireless carrier with the sim from another wireless carrier. Contact the wireless
provider that the iPhone is locked to and ask if they offer unlocking and if
you qualify. Only the wireless carrier that the iPhone is locked to can unlock
it. -
hi i updated my iphone but it says that This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked. how can i unlock this one?
Your iPhone was hacked or jailbroken before and through the update it locks back to the original carrier. Only the original carrier can unlock the iPhone. You have to contact them and find out what the procedure you needs to follow.

In your other post https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5001329?tstart=60
you say the iPhone originally was on contract with Orange UK. You will have
to work with Orange UK to get the iPhone unlocked.
