T-shirt

hi..
my total points is around 530 and the forum points around 470, but still i didnt get any mail for the t-shirt.. what can i do for this..

since the t-shirt biz seems not to be organized by SDN ops any longer but rather by SCN ops 2k isn't equal to 2048pts anymore. At least I got my last mail and Contributors Corner recognition when I crossed 2000. for the visual composer generation 2048 isn't any different from 2047 and both have nothing to do with 2k
i know, i know. that was a bit mean.

  • Need support to develop a Web Application-T Shirt Designer

    Hello Everyone
I am new here. So a big hello to all of you.
Well, I am writing here because I urgently need an expert opinion on the matter mentioned below. And I would be glad if I could receieve some professional advice on this forum.
I have to create  an online T shirt Designer (a Visual Configurator), i.e.a web based application where the user will be able to select the various elements of a T shirt such as color, text, graphics etc and visualize the same in real time and then place the order for the product. Here the cost will be automatically added at diferent stages i.e. when a text/graphic is selected while the shipping cost is added at the stage of check out . Finally as per the total cost, the final payment is made through the payment gateway.
Now my question is which adobe product would be best for designing this visual configurator considering the following points.
    1. This visual configuartor has to be first designed and then embedded on an E commerce website as a web application.
    2. Like any other T shirt designer, the images will be swapped/changed. So mainly the development would involve creating a layout/structure wherein a certain process or series can be systematically organized to help a user configure the product.
    3. This configurator application would involve mathematical calculation i.e. adding costs at different  stages. So business rules will have to be applied and a payment gateway has to be integrated with the application.
Mostly the online T shirt designer softwares I have seen are based on Flash. But I am not sure if this is the best product for my requirement.
    Would greatly appreciate support.
    Thanks
    Mini

Go to CustomInk.com.  Their T-shirt Design App is not Flash based which is refreshing. Instead, they're using a sophisticated combination of CSS, JavaScript and PHP/MySql.
Digging a little deeper into the source code, it looks like the company that developed their T-shirt Design App is located in India and called No-Fresh.com
No-Fresh licenses their T-shirt Design App.  You might want to contact them directly.

  • Addled Brain- which direction to go in setting up a t-shirt e-commerce site. Please help wise people!

    Hello,
I have a little experience from 10 years ago building web sites, but things have changed a lot (but i am very good at teaching myself).  Can anyone advise me on the way to go?
I want to create a t-shirt e-commerce site and have no money to pay anyone to make the site (maybe when the business is flying i will, but for now) - i am designing it myself and have all the design elements done, but do not know the best way to implement it given all the technologies out there; and do not want to go one way, to find out my efforts were wasted much later.  Here's my thinking...
The main site contains the t-shirts.  When a user clicks on a picture it takes them to a 't shirt options' page where they can configure the design (put the design on the pocket, the back or the front in the center etc).  I was going to create check boxes for them to do this which when clicked, will change the picture to show them how it looks.  This means i will create picture for every possible check box option and load that into the 'this is what you t shirt looks like' space (easy enough and i can do that i think).  I will do that for every t-shirt on the main page.
But I was thinking, could I just have a plane t-shirt in the 'this is what you t shirt looks like' space and using a picture of the design,  just reposition it and resize it using (and this is where my knoweldge is small at the moment) jqeury or some other language, or even CSS and divs?  What would be the best appraoch?  This way i would only have to create the design and the blank T-shirt and use code to position it to represent the final product.  Would it better to use a CMS such a Joomla to do this (this seems very complicated)?  Before i go any further than the design i thought i would ask you clever people.
Thanks if you got this far...
    Conundrum part 2:
The user will then click proceed to checkout where i will use a shopping cart system (probably Zen cart because that is on the hosting company's server that intend to use (unless suggested otherwise)).  I will need each version of the t-shirt to have a unique product ID that relates to a database that contains pricing options and this will be sent to the 'zen cart' and that will process the transaction.  Is my understanding correct?
Many thanks for any suggestions.  Learnign one or two  things (CSS and DW) is OK, learning 5 things at once is making my head hurt! I have become confused

Zen cart is free.  And you get what you pay for -- software that is hard to work with, not very good, poorly supported and has many security vulnerabilities which is why hackers love to exploit it.
Get a real shopping cart. Money well spent.  Building one yourself is risky and requires expert skill with server-security, data encryption, PHP, MySql, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PCI compliance, SSL certificates, etc...   You'll drive yourself crazy trying to learn everything you don't know.
UltraCart is easy to set-up and they have a free 30 day trial so you can test before you decide.  There are many PCI compliant commercial carts you can use.   If you have a merchant bank account, start with your bank to find out which gateways and processors they require you to use.  That will narrow your search to carts that work with your payment gateway.
As for your site, keep it simple, semantic, user friendly and responsive.

  • How do I prepare an Illustrator file for printing white text on a dark t-shirt?

There are no graphics, just text. The finished product is going to be white text on a red t-shirt.
What are the steps in preparing a file in Illustrator for this purpose, and what do I need to do before sending it off to the printer?
    Thanks.

I would call or email your printer and ask him or her the same question. There are a number of ways to indicate white ink, it would be good to know their preference. My guess is they will ask you to supply a PDF with black type and indicate somewhere that it's to print in white ink. They might prefer an .eps file. An illustration of a red T-shirt with white type in the desired location and size would also help insure you get what you want.

My 3GS iPhone will not hold full charge for very long.  It gets very hot in my shirt pocket even when hot in use.  Any ideas?

Double-tapping the home button does not show apps that are running.  This is not a task manager, it is merely a list of recently used/accessed apps.
Basic troubleshooting of the device is reset, restart, restore.  Has a reset or restore been tried?
Check to see if updates exists for the apps, this could be a simple issue of a badly coded or buggy app that needs to be updated.

Received new iphone 5 for Christmas. Also Blueant Q2 blue tooth ear piece. Phone works great, blueant, not so. Have had numerous emails and phone calls to tech about dropping out. There is no active phone, you are connected and all I have to do is move my head to have either happen. I keep the phone in my shirt pocket and it can't be over 10-14 inches from one to the other. Any thoughts and suggestions???? At $99.99 plus tax just can;\'t afford to hit it with a hammer.

How can I allow a customer to upload an image to be stuck onto a mug or t-shirt and then view what it would look like on that mug or t-shirt?

In the absence of drivers, a rather nasty way to achieve this would be to ensure that your software always occupies the same portion of the screen such that you know the position of the 'sample' button. You could then simulate a mouse click at those coordinates when you require a sample to be taken.
This would not be a robust solution as a user could move or minimise the window, or other windows could also find their way into the critical position and cause the application to work incorrectly or cause unexpected things to happen.
However, if you just need a short term work around this method might be acceptable, just be aware of the risks if you try it.
Searching for simulate mouse clicks and having a play is the way forward.
As an example of simulating a mouse click in a certain position, have a look here:

  • T-Shirt designing #2: How do I change the background of my image?

    Using CS6...
I'm also using the t-shirt template.
On my screen is a t-shirt with a small rectangle inside of it. And another large rectangle beside it. I plan on making my image inside of the large rectangle (which is also the guide).
Right now it is white but I would like to change it to different colors and I would need for this color to be part of the image once completed. I tried clicking on stuff (everything is highlighted) but the background color within the guide never changes.
    Can someone provide the steps?
    Sincerely,
    Rookie

    Wdautrion, Christ-Guard, others,
I originally skipped this thread because I assumed it was about the specifics of certain T-Shirt templates, based on the related #1 thread.
However, its seemingly going on and on made me finally read it, and ponder.  I believe a few things are worth adding, even if it may seem too long already.
As I read the OP, it is simply a question about a rectangular Guide (a Guide that was originally created as a rectangle) which may seem to have a white fill and the wish to switch to another colour, to form a background that is part of the artwork.
Had I read the OP before anything else had happened, I believe my answer would (just as simply) have been something like:
Guides are non printing, and they have no fill. You can see that if you View>Show (Transparency) Grid.
To get a corresponding coloured rectangular fill that forms part of the artwork, you may:
    1) Drag with the rectangle Tool from the top left to the bottom right of the Guide rectangle,
    2) Set the fill colour as desired and no Stroke,
    3) Lock the rectangle to avoid selecting it (until the artwork is finished).
There are other ways, but I should prefer this to others that may require more explanation (such as a few involving releasing of the Guide).
Other aspects of the thread are ways of learning, and of efforts/attitudes, including using the manual/helpfile.
It is worth mentioning that the link in post #11 refers to only three out of four learning styles (VAK instead of VARK), the fourth being reading & writing. This is (just) one of many models, as it appears from this Wikipedia article (which also leaves the forurth one out):
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Learning_styles#Neil_Fleming.27s_VAK.2FVARK_model
A fuller VARK explanation may be seen here:
    http://psychology.about.com/od/educationalpsychology/a/vark-learning-styles.htm
I mention this because there is a crucial difference between visual and reading & writing, which I believe is important for this thread.
Whichever faith anyone may have in such models, I believe there are significant differences in how different people learn.
I also believe that no learning style should be frowned upon.
I am convinced that some of the difficulties in mutual understanding, and in writing/reading posts, arise from such differences.
With regard to efforts/attitudes, it is important to work smarter, not harder,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Performance_consulting
but what that means  rather depends on learning and working style(s). What is best and most efficient for one may appear as laziness, or as hard work, or as silliness, for another.
Also, it may be argued that, depending on the actual task, the use of some features/procedures, maybe especially some of the easy ones in later versions, may be considered either efficiency or laziness/sloppiness.
With regard to using the manual/helpfile, RTFM is a small effort for some, a greater or even forbidding one for others. Probably most would agree that it is much easier to use when you get used to to it and/or have known Illy for a while and know your way round.
I only remember one instance, in another forum, with a poster actually declaring himself that he was lazy; and he was gently and friendly but clearly told to work on his attitude, which he agreed upon.
You may say that all this is easy for me to say, because I am lucky to actually enjoy the challenge of finding ways to brídge differences and difficulties in learning, here and elsewhere. Some of what I do is to help and teach across styles. One recent urgent and pleasant challenge was a mid afternoon phone call from a carpenter about a simple crude (too) steep staircase/(step)ladder fitting a certain space; he was completely at a loss. I asked when he was going to build it, and the answer was: "Now". He was on the site, and all he had to work with were some leftover 45x245 mm rafters. I asked for the height from floor to floor (total rise) (2230 mm) and the available horizontal space (containing the total going and then a bit) (1500 mm); 10 minutes later, I could tell him an adapted/failsafe way to shape the stringboards and place the steps, with only four measures to mark, the rest being pure carpentry work, devised while getting the measures from a quick drawing with the help of Illy, of course. He fitted the staircase precisely and was happy (as was the customer), and baffled.
In any case, now I said it.

  • 4 color process on tee shirts help needed

This is my first attempt (we just added a tee shirt division) at 4 cp screen printing on tee's. Image came as RGB and converted to CMYK in Photoshop. Using default SWOP web coated v2. Image is WAY too dark and we can not adjust to an acceptable result by adjusting the inks. Should I be using an uncoated profile or make my own (need help to that!). Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Chris

Since screen printing lays down a lot of ink meaning there is a lot of gain on press you'll have to do some experimenting using an assign profile procedure that might get you a CMYK profile that gets you in the ballpark. Or at least it will allow you in coming up with your own custom profile within Photoshop's Color Setting CMYK menu that delivers numbers that clearly show that dot gain is being compensated for on your press.
You'll use the dark print and the numbers within the file to act as a reference. Scour the web and download as many CMYK profiles you can find that are associated with presses with high gain like newspapers and even screen printing. Who knows maybe by now someone has already gone through the same thing and came up with one that works. The numbers when converting to the newly found high gain profile will be smaller compared to the Web Offset reference file for instance 50% dot will read something like 30-20%, 80% will read 60% and so on.
Once you've collected enough CMYK profiles start assigning them temporarily for preview purpose to the original CMYK that produced the dark print. The one that makes the image the darkest is the one that will get you in the ballpark. Notice the degree by which it goes dark and pick a profile that produces the same degree of darkness that showed on your press.
Noting the degree of change during this assign procedure will also aid in coming up with a custom CMYK profile in Photoshop you can later assign to the reference file in making it look just like the dark reference print.
It's not very precise but the only alternative is to have a custom profile made using a spectrophotometer which can get expensive. You might look into ColorMunki which uses a spectro and is around $500. Not sure if it can produce CMYK profiles though.

  • Color correction on magenta skin tones / white shirt

I want to color correct a shot that is very blue/ magenta.
I would like the skin tones to be less magenta and more orange/yellow.
I get the best results by adding yellow on the Midtones and Shadows.
My problem is that the Highlights are going yellow, specially a white shirt. I get a better result by by then adding blue on the Highlights. I'm wondering if it's the right thing to do... Also, some Midtones are still too magenta.
I could isolate the skin tones as secondaries, but still, I have to color correct other parts of the image.
Any tip? Should I use the advanced settings?
I know my question as no miracle answer and that color correction should be done by a pro, but I would appreciate any suggestion, thanks.

I don't know, what does your eye tell you?
Before anyone can suggest any sort of solution, you need to provide a still as Mr. Owens asked for and then provide some direction for what you want.
No 2 people on the face of the earth see exactly the same. Color is entirely subjective. If you like what you're doing (I would ask, how you're seeing anything accurately from an iMac) then who cares what anyone else thinks? Unless, someone is paying you for your talent, then you'd best have the best rig money can buy as anything less is a lie.

  • Does white need to be transparent for one color t-shirt printing?

    Hi,
I made one color (black and white) graphic as an Illustrator file for a guy who is printing it with one color on t-shirts. Some of the white areas are formed from white objects on top of black objects and some are transparent areas like the background that shows when the Show Transparency Grid is selected from the View menu .
The guy told me his printer said that there are  white objects in the graphic that need to be transparent.
I don’t have any other information. I don’t know what kind of printing, printer, and t-shirts are used. Initially the guy told me not to worry about that, he will prepare the graphic for print but now he is asking me to turn the whites to transparent. Given the situation, I’m suspecting if this is the right approach.
I would like to learn the right way of doing this and I will greatly appreciate any advice, and input.

If you make a compound path...the artwork will be OK.
That cannot be assumed as true without actually seeing how the artwork is built. In any of these situations,  a normal even-odd winding will cause unwanted black reversals:
Difference regions between any white and black fills (for example a white path only partially overlapping a black path).
Intersection regions between two or more white fills.
Intersection regions between two or more black fills.
Without knowing the artwork stack, the most likely "one-size-fits-all" solution would be the Merge Pathfinder. But even that assumes that all paths are filled, unstroked paths; no Brushes, etc.
But as has already been stated, when printing separations or composite, white means "no ink" unless the white is a spot color Swatch. The strange-sounding request from the printer may also be due to white objects being accidently set to overprint.
The surest thing for a beginner not understanding any of the above would be to just rasterize the whole thing to 1-bit at a moderate resolution, assuming it is all line art and is drawn at 100%.

  • Photoshop elements 12 - For dark T-shirts How do you get white background not to print.

For dark T-shirts  using a printer that can print white. OKI pro920WT..If an image has a transparent background, why does it print it white? How can I get it just to print the image and not a big white square? Someone said masking but I don't get iit ? can someone explain. I got image as a tiff.

Also, don't flatten the image when you're done editing. Flattening creates a background layer, which also can't have transparency. Just merge the layers if necessary, instead.

Unfortunately logging into your account won't help, because then I don't have access to Illustrator.
I was just trying around a little if you could share it with me, but unfortunately sharing doesn't seem to work with Draw files. You could try and find someone near you who also has an iPad and Illustrator and then try to send it to them via AirDrop. But I don't know if that actually shares the file or just a PNG.
Maybe someone on the Draw forum has an idea how you could send the file to someone else.

You need to ask the printing service provider. Dealing with color totally depends on the printing process involved and of course the machines used.
