T|X Windows Hotsync

Spoke to soon. I can't get my T|X to sync wirelessly. On the Hotsync screen on the T|X I chose look for PC on my network. It found my desktop and the wireless sync work. Okay lets try that again. No luck. Tried another "Look for PC on my network" this time and every time since, it can't find my desktop. I checked he desktop name. Even re-entered it and did another Hard Reset (held Power button down while hitting reset on back). Still can't find my desktop. Disabled my firewall, no change. Checked my Hotsync seetings on desktop, right IP address and network check. I should mention that I did a cable sync after the hard reset. It worked fine and provided my T|X with the address. I am getting an error message occasionally which is new and may help. Its titled "SMARTHEAP LIBRARY" and in the box it states "Mem_bad_Pointer" with the ok and cancel buttons.

You set the static IP addresses in your router's internal settings, correct?
Have you made an exception in your Firewall for HotSync.exe?
Here's my text file I always use for Wifi HotSync.  Sounds like you've covered all bases, but read through it for the heck of it.
Wifi HotSync with a TX
1. On your PC, locate the HotSync Manager (little HotSync icon in the lower right tool tray on a Winbox). Click on it and check off "Network", then click again and select Setup.
2. Pick the Network tab up top in the window that opens, and find your HotSync name in the list.  Make sure it's checked.
3. Tap the TCP/IP button, and look at the IP address listed for "Primary PC Address". Write it down.
4. Turn on Wifi on your Palm and connect to your router.
5. On your Palm, select the HotSync program and tap the word "Network" above the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen.  Below it, enter the IP address you wrote down in step 3. (Include the periods!).  NOTE: If you don't see the "Select PC" entry under the button, open your pull-down menu and tap "Modem Sync Prefs".  Change it to "Network".
6. Tap the big HotSync icon above the IP address, and hold on!  Your PC should sound the HotSync signal and begin a very rapid HotSync!
7. If you're holding on, and nothing happens try a wired HotSync, then try the Wifi HotSync again.  Sometimes, information has to transfer from your PC after you check off the Network option.  Also, be sure to watch for any Firewall activity asking you about "HotSync.exe is trying to access your hard drive" etc.  You may need to set a rule to allow it.

  • !!!SOLUTION !!! Hotsync TE2 with windows 7 (64bit) via blue tooth SOLUTION !!!

I recently struggled with syncing my TE2 with the palm desktop application in windows 7 as many of you have too.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, Palm desktop 4.1.4 and a blue tooth dongle.
The solution I found for my problem works like this:
Find a phone that has blue tooth and add it as device on your computer.
    I used a simple Nokia 2630.
The add-proces went well and it automaticly had two COM-ports assigned that it uses for syncing or backup etc.
    I shut down the phone.
Started the hotsync manager from Palm.
Klicked away error messages as that the com-port is in use by another device.
Klicked right in the tray icon for hotsync.
    Select setup.
    Select local.
Then get a message that the port is not available.
After that I can choose a port that IS availlable.
That is one of the ports that was assigned to my Nokia phone.
I select one of these ports and close the setup screen.
I have setup a blue tooth hotsync connection on my TE2.
Hereafter I can sync my TE2 with the Palm desktop 4.1.4 without a problem.
Just don't use the phone and hotsync at the same time.
The only messagfes I got are from docstogo that powerpoint does not work anymore, but you can ignore that message.
After one hotsync these messages don't appear anymore.
I don't start the hotsync program at startup, but start it manually.
I start it in compatibilitymode for Windows XP (Servicepack 3).
Right-klick on desktop icon choose compatilbility, check first box and from the dropdownlist choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
    Until now  . . . . . . no problems.
I hope somebody can use this too.
P.S. When you start the hotsync prog it can last a little while before it appears in your taskbar.
    GOOD LUCK !!!!!
    Greetings,
    Jacques

Do you absolutely want to use the slower BlueTooth connection, or would you rather use the USB cable as designed?
Drivers are available now for 64bit systems.  See the top of the Windows HotSync board for "64 bit Palm Desktop drivers are here!"

  • Help, hotsync palm treo 755p to my laptop with windows vista 64 bit.

I am computer unsavy and could use some help.  I have a palm treo 755p that previously synced with my old dell laptop.  That computer broke, and I got a new HP with windows vista 64 bit.  Previously, the dell was running windows xp.  I have bought some new software, which I have downloaded to my laptop, and am trying to sync my palm to the new computer so that I can download the program to the computer.  However, after installing the Palm Hotsync Manager and other software, and when I trying to sync, the computer does not seem to recognized my palm, and times out after a while stating "the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established.  Please check your setup and try again.

It is quite likely you have a 64bit version of windows 7. If so that is why the driver was not installed properly. There is a 64bit driver by Aceeca available. Go to the post 64bit drivers are here. Download the 64bit driver and unzipp it on the desktop. You have already tried to hotsync so follow the instruction were it picks up on going into device manager. This will show you how to manually install this driver and with luck you will now be able to hotsync.http://forums.palm.com/t5/Windows-HotSync/64-Bit-Drivers-are-HERE-Thanks-Aceeca-corp/td-p/337516

  • Palm Zire M150 and Windows 7 64-bit

This worked fine with Windows 7 32-bit, but not on Win 7 64-bit.
    Then I found this thread:
     http://forums.hpwebos.com/t5/Windows-HotSync/64-Bit-Palm-Desktop-Drivers-are-HERE/m-p/337516/message...
I followed the instructions exactly, including the bit in message 6 about allowing Device Manager to show hidden devices.
I was then able to do the hot sync with my device using the USB cable (the computer has BlueTooth but not IR; the Palm has IR but not Bluetooth; both have the USB connection), without any data in the Palm desktop directory - just doing the hotsync from the device.  It appeared to work okay, but unfortunately, it took out half my address book (including my entire family) and a lot of other data.
Fortunately, I had saved the data directory elsewhere.  So I merged it with the newly-created data directory.  The device gave a message to click on a button to reset the device, which I did, and - voila! - all my data was there, both on the desktop and on the device.   I made a small change on the device and hotsync'd it again, and it worked fine.
I'm new here and this is my first post; so if I goofed anything up, somebody please clue me in.

  • How do I get the Novo Power Management button to work on Windows 7 64 BIT - Y Series

I swore on the forums there was some instructions as far as how to get this crap working.
I don't think it was a topic, but a post within a topic...a lengthy one at that.
It says specifically how to get the Energy Management software to work with the NOVO button when it's pressed on 64 BIT Windows 7 systems.

I am moving your question to the Windows Hotsync board, where you will find this thread stickied near the top, discussing Windows 7 & 64 bit Hotsync issues.
There are no 64-bit USB drivers.  Only way to sync with 64-bit machines is wirelessly, via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth (neither of which your m130 is capable of), or IR.

I purchased a Palm m130 on Ebay.  It did not come with a driver.  The connection is a 9 pin serial.  Web info says it comes with a usb but, this one did not.  It seems to be in perfect working order.
All I want to do is to put one e-book on it.
I know it is supposed to be hot syc'd, but, since I don't have a driver I am sort of at a loss.
Does any one have an idea?

  • HotSync

Hi as a new member with little computer experience I appeal for help.
I recently had a computer crash which resulted in a rebuild of motherboard, processor and hard drive with the usual reloading of software and peripherals. All went well until I reloaded my Palm desktop which I have updated to the latest Palm download.
I have been unable to download from my Z22 my contacts which is the main use I have for this equipment, on a hot sync the program halts at 3 from 13, "Synchronising Date Book", also I notice the listing on the desk-top does not coincide with the   programs on the hand-held.
    Any Ideas?

  • OS4.1.4 and Windows 7

Is anyone using OS4.1.4 with Windows 7?  We have a Palm M100 that is used for updating software on bill validators. But our new laptop has Windows 7 on it and it does not seem to work properly using Palm OS 6.2.2 with the older M100. We usually need to hotsync and reinstall the proper software when ever we change batteries(known problem with this model) but OS6 doesn't sync the software correctly and we keep getting an error message. Any ideas?

I don't think there is any official support for the old versions of Palm Desktop on Vista or Windows 7.
As a possible workaround, you could try loading version 4.1.4 under "XP Mode," which is available in some versions of Windows 7. Check out the following post for more information:

Palm Desktop 6.2.2 is not an upgrade to 4.x!   It was designed to fix the things Microsoft broke when Vista was born.
It lacks many features that existed for many years in the 4.x versions.
I'd suggest doing a Clean Uninstall and reinstall your original version!
