T2000 Network Installation pause

I'm seeing very strange behavior out of my two T2000 servers when I do a network installation. In short, it pauses for a very long time during the boot cycle. There is a pause for at least 45 minutes, sometimes even longer than that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here's what I see:

System seems to hang here, producing no further output.
System remains available via the ALOM card, which reports no
faults and that the system is running.

Just ran into this myself. It's not pausing; rather, it's pulling the OS across the network veeerrrry sloooowwwwly because the link came up in half duplex while (I'll wager) your switch port is full duplex. If you just let it go, the load will eventually complete--it just takes a while because of the network collisions.
My network guys tell me they've seen problems with the HP Gb switch autonegotiation (that's what my T2k is patched into). Then again, if you're using Cisco gear, then the likely culprit is Sun's autonegotiation code.

  • Deskjet 3050 Unsuccessful Network Installation

    Hi,
I cannot get my Deskjet 3050 to install across the network on my Windows XP machine.  The printer is connected to my wireless router OK (a BT HomeHub 2), the printer network diagnostic says everything is OK and I can access the embedded web server on the printer through a browser.  I can even print/scan to the device wirelessly from a separate Windows 7 PC on the same network.
The problem on my XP machine is at the very last stage of the install.  I select the Network option from the Connection screen, the network is scanned and my printer is listed OK with the correct IP and MAC addresses.  I click Next and the progress bar displays on the Installing Printer screen.  Files are copied, but the progress bar then hesitates about 1/3rd of the way across, and then continues.  The final screen then says Unsuccessful Network Installation and the printer does not appear on my PC.  What can I do to fix this?
    Thanks.

I am having the exact same issue with my network installation on the same model.  The only information I can add is that my second computer on the network that works correctly with the device is also using the XP operating system.  My wireless router is a Netgear WNR2000 and the PC that will not install the printer from the network is connected via ethernet while the laptop that works is connected wirelessly.
As with the previous poster, I am able to view the printer in the list of attached devices from the router administration.  I have also tried reserving IP addresses for my devices and selective startup so that all but Microsoft services were disabled at startup, but it still fails installation.  I'm hoping there is an HP tech who can shed some light on this because I consider myself pretty handy with installs and I'm at my wits' end.
Thanks for any guidance anyone can provide.

  • Windows 7 / HP OfficeJet Pro 8600: Unsuccessful Network Installation

    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Printer: HP OfficeJet Pro 8600
My goal is to enable the "Scan to Computer" feature of my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 on Windows 7, which doesn't find my computer when I try to use it from the printer's front panel touchscreen. The printer's connected to my local wifi network.
In the setup program on the included CD, I've opted NOT to install any software aside from the "HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Basic Device Software", which installs fine. I also opt NOT to install the "ePrint" web services or allow it to connect to the network for updates or share usage statistics or any of that.
During the setup program, the "Network Check" correctly finds the printer on my local wifi network, but the following "Network Printer Installation" part always fails, resulting in "Unsuccessful Network Installation", no other details. The result is the same if I retry with Microsoft Security Essentials' "Real-time protection" off, or with Windows Firewall off. No other anti-virus is running.
The "HP Scan" program fails immediately with the error message "The HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 was not found."
Under Control Panel > "Devices and Printers" I see an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. Windows installs and prints with this printer just fine without the provided CD.
Under Control Panel > "Device Manager" the printer is NOT listed under "Imaging Devices".
My Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running.
    Any clues?
    This question was solved.

(I never managed to solve this, how did this get marked "Solved?")
I'd be happy with either means of starting a scan. Here are some things I've tried since my last post (sorry, I gave up on this for 2 months and am now trying to get it working again):
I've got the printer connected by USB as well as on the network, and running the software installer with the USB connection option just gets stuck forever at the "Connect the USB Cable" screen. The USB cable is connected.
Under "Scanner Actions" on the HP Printer Assistant application, clicking "Manage Scan to Computer" reports: "Scan to Computer is enabled. You can start a scan from the printer. Your computer is not listed as an available computer on the printer's control panel. Please restart your printer and try again." Tried restarting/unplugging the printer, but that doesn't change anything.
The HP Print and Scan Doctor's first screen reports the State as "Installed" for USB and "Not Installed" for the network. It returns these results for the various steps of "Fix Scanning":
    Device Manager: Pass
Driver check: Fail ("The Scan driver is unable to communicate with the product.")
Windows (WIA) scan: Fail (no information given, other than instructions to reboot)
HP Twain scan: Fail ("Scanner communication cannot be established..." dialog)
    Registry: Pass
    HP Scan: Pass
Since my last post I've also updated the printer's firmware, which seemed to work fine. It's now on firmware version CLP1CN1304AR.
The Windows event log reports several warnings from the software installer saying "Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0" with Event ID 1015, is this important? Tried it again with Windows Firewall off for both public and private networks, no difference.

  • Network Installer: Can't run Disk Utility

    Hi, all.
Just created a net install image. SIU's log did not report anything out of the ordinary, however for some reason I can't run Disk Utility, and I need to as the automated installation options frequently don't work.
I select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and nothing happens.
I run the Terminal and try hdiutil and get
    dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.dylib
    Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskImages.framework/Versions/A/DiskImages
    Reason: image not found
    Trace/BPT Trap
Now, if we mount that image on a running Mac we can see the following
    bash$ ls -l /usr/lib/libbz*
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 138436 Nov 1 11:33 /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.2.dylib
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 138444 Mar 4 10:19 /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.3.dylib
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Nov 29 14:50 /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.dylib -> libbz2.1.0.3.dylib
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Nov 29 14:50 /usr/lib/libbz2.dylib -> libbz2.1.0.3.dylib
If we run the same command on the netbooted machine
    bash# ls -l /usr/lib/libbz*
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 138436 Nov 1 11:33 /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.2.dylib
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Nov 29 14:50 /usr/lib/libbz2.1.0.dylib -> libbz2.1.0.3.dylib
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 18 Nov 29 14:50 /usr/lib/libbz2.dylib -> libbz2.1.0.3.dylib
So it looks like libbz2.1.0.dylib is symlink'd to libbz2.1.0.3.dylib, except libbz2.1.0.3.dylib doesn't exist in the netbooted image. But it does exist in the image when it isn't netbooted! Yes, they are the same image!
I also have two "Help" menus, just for kicks.
Does anybody know what's going on? I guess I'll re-create the image, but it'd be nice to understand what's going on and know if it's something I can somehow avoid in the future.
On the lighter side, this is the first time in nearly a year I haven't had to manually insert the CoreVideo.framework to get the image to boot!

Ah, forget what I said about it being the same image. I didn't notice that my chroot hadn't worked when I was checking... I was checking the live system instead. Good thing, too, 'cause that was just TOO weird.
Still doesn't explain why there's a link to a non-existent file. To test I created a symlink for libbz2.1.0.3.dylib which just points at the previous version. Guess what: Disk Utility works now.
I'm re-creating the image anyway and we'll see if the problem exists on that one as well. If it does, I won't be pleased. That'll be two repeatable bugs that break the NetInstall function for me in a year. Not cool.
Anybody else getting weird output if they type hdiutil in to Terminal at the Network Installer? Or do you have a non-working Disk Utility?

  • Network Installer has quit due to an unexpected error. (exit code 133)

Hi guys. Our school just purchased some new 1.83 Intel Mac minis, and I'm trying to image them using our Powermac (running server 10.4.9). The minis won't boot from the net install image though, the spinning wheel just spins under the grey apple icon.
If I boot in verbose mode I get this error:
The Network Installer has quit due to an unexpected error. (exit code 133)
    Please restart your computer.
The net image was created using one of the mac mini's as the master (i.e. off their installation discs + a few extra programs). I've used this process with all our other ppc macs and had no troubles.
    Any ideas?

I'm getting the same error in verbose mode. I've made an image from an Intel iMac. My server, though, an Xserve, is running 10.4.8. I think the only difference (and I've gotten past images to work fine) is that I updated the Intel iMac to 10.4.9 in the new image.
What's going on? I've made close to 5 images and each one, the same error.

  • Network Installation of Photoshop CS4 ?!

    hello community!
i want to install photoshop cs4 on a network-drive or an server, to use photoshop cs4 from such clients.
first question: is it possible (network-installation)?
second question: ok, i just have one license.  is it possible, that some users can use this _one_ license from different computers? i mean, that on time x user A is working from computer 1 and on time y user B is working from computer 2; (never working at the same time).
    thanks for your answers!

Re: Install: Yes, by hacking the install script ini. Not officially endorsed and supported, but you can find info on it on ze interwebs.
Re: Multiuser: No, of course not. It's a clear breach of sections 2.1 to 2.3 of the generic Adobe EULA (since there is no PS Server, the Server EULAs do not apply) - 1 license, 1 user. It doesn't matter whether they work in shifts or not, by giving to differnt people access under the same license (and I'm sure we are not just talking 2 people here) you exceed the total number of users. The concurrent number of users doesn't matter, to stick with the legal blurb.

  • Not a valid Network Installation Point

    Post Author: BGardner
    CA Forum: General
This one is obscure but I hope that someone will recognize it. It doesn't appear on any searches.
Crystal 8.5 was installed onto a client's server (used for custom reports in an accounting application). I was able to successfully run a Workstation installation to 2 or 3 PC's using P:\ as the Network Installation Point.
But now the Workstation install fails and returns the message "The directory P:\ is not a valid Network Installation Point - it does not contain the Crystal Reports network files."
    Notes:
The cause of the problem is that the server was replaced by a newer one
The new server has the same name and sharenames & drive mappings are identical
All files were copied from the old server to the new one
Everything else runs correctly, including CR on workstations previously installed
I reinstalled CR but with the same results
Server O/S is Windows 2003 on both servers.
Clearly there is something missing (or something that shouldn't be there!). Or could it somehow be a rights issue?
I'm stymied so all suggestions are welcome!  Thank you.

You don't specify the version number of 2.6. Is that Solaris 2.6 HW 5/98? Any earlier version of Solaris 2.6 will most likely not work.

  • Can't uninstall a network installation (Version: WebLogic 8.1 for Windows)

    Hi,
As described in the above subject, I encountered an error when trying to uninstall
WebLogic 8.1 for windows, which is installed from another computer (WINXP) thru
    network.
The installation executes on the remote machine. When asking the location for
BEA home, I specify a path on a network drive , something like z:\bea.
(z: is the drive of the computer I want weblogic to be installed. I do this because
it only has enough space for the final installation, but not together with the
    temporary files)
It seems that everything goes well, although the links in "Program Files" are
created on the remote machine only. However, when I want to uninstall it, I encounter
    problems.
First, when using the "add/remove programs" way, it complained that it was not
able to find the path to javaw.exe. I paste the full command Z:\bea\jdk141_03\bin\javaw.exe
    -Duninstall.dir="z:\bea\weblogic81\uninstall" -jar "z:\bea\weblogic81\common\lib\uninstall.jar"
and then it went on. Splash screen and the first wizard screen appears afterwards.
However, when I pressed "Next", a prompt appeared, with message ":[z:\bea]".
The same message appeared in console mode uninstallation.
Is there anyway to solve this problem? Thx!

    Hi,
I tried to replace all "Z:" to "C:" in registry.xml and re-uninstall again, but
    that doesn't work.
Actually the thing I want to happen is only to remove the current (and somehow
faulty?) installation. Is it 100% ok to just remove all the files manually?

It sounds like the install was done on one machine and you are trying
    to uninstall from
another. If that is true ...
Check the contents of the registry.xml file and see if the environment
    variables match
those of the machine you are working on. In particular, the items that
    specify host
    names and install directories.

  • T2000 Network Management

    Hi Folks,
I just got a T2000 server, and have hooked it up (sort of).
Right now, I'm running everythign through the serial console, which I've found to be pretty darn ineffective.
I booted into solaris no problem, but I don't know how to get hte management network running.
The first thing I did was set netsc_dhcp=true, since that's how the network is configured. Then I did show netsc_ipaddr, and it told me 0.0.0.0, i.e. I screwed up!
How do I configure the network management port to work? I thought you could just DHCP and let the router take care of everything...
    Thanks,

I've just installed Crystal Server XI R2 on a brand new server running MySQL 5.0.45 but when the installation completes it says it can't log on to the CMS database.  It's created the empty database and I have the db.opt file in there but nothing else - no tables or anything.   I've re-run the installation and done a repair and Modify but with no change.  The CMS user has full rights to the MySQL instance for now, so it shouldn't have been an issue.  Is there a SQL script available I can run to build the initial db manually?  Do I need to uninstall and go through it all again?  took over 2 hours across the network and the server is in another part of the country.

    Hi Matthew,
I'm not sure why you cannot access your mysql DB but you do not have to reinstall.
Launch the CCM(central configuration manager) If the CMS is not stopped then stop it.
double-click on the CMS choose configuration, choose specify, choose recreate the current data source.
This will reinitialize the CMS DB if the account configured has the proper permissions. It should be a DB owner
