T22 Dvi output via docking port

Can anyone please help. I have a T22 laptop with a docking port/ port replicator. The docking port has a dvi output port. Can I connect this to a large screen monitor? Does the T22 support dvi output? I dont want to spend out on a cable if it will not work. Thanks for your help.
T22 Type 2647 Windows XP

It should work without any great difficulties, depending on what you plan to do you may want to change the settings in the BIOS > Config > Display menu for which, or both, screen (s) should be used to display the boot sequence.
In Windows you can configure things using Presentation Director. If you don't already have it installed you can find it here.
Let us know how you arrange your setup.

  • T61: DVI output without docking station? Possible?

I was wondering if there is any way to have DVI output on my T61 without using a docking station. I need to use this output frequently and carrying the docking station around is not very practical. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Rodrigo.

I see, but how about picture quality?
I mean, I'm going for DVI because I want to plug the PC into a full HD display.
If I'm going to use a VGA 2 DVI converter it's better to use VGA straight, isn't it?
How is lenovo's VGA output quality in high resolutions?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How to get itunes movies to output via firewire port or other

I work for a small school tv station in which I'd like to move the students to serving up videos via itunes because it would be easier to add new content to the loop than what they are doing now (which is basically adding a quicktime movie to another and rerendering.)
To get it "on air" the signal currently uses simplevideo out to send quicktime playback thru firewire which is hooked to a deck. the analog of the deck is hooked to a VCR which sends feeds the on air broadcast.
What I'd like to be able to do is have a playlist called "on air", set Itunes to show in separate window and have that window feed on air.
The only solution I can think of is to to ask for a laptop for them and use a dual monitor-like setup and put the expanded window on the 2nd screen which would actually be a VGA to analog converter which could then be hooked to the VCR.
Is there anything simpler, hardware or software which might interface with itunes to play the movies out to a VCR/TV? AppleTV won't work because I don't have anything HD unless there is some converter I am overlooking.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Well I found one software solution but it is out of our price range. Here it is for anyone else who might be facing this..

  • My mini dvi output port is no longer working (2007 iMac) please help!

My mini dvi output port is no longer working, can this be replaced or do I need a new motherboard? (it's a 2007 iMac, no longer under warrantee. Long story short when I was out of town someone cut my power cord on my tv I went to turn the tv on and looked at the back of the tv to see if there was any loose connections and found the cord sliced 3/4 of the way through. I must have bumped the cord and it sparked and made a loud pop noise. Well it fried the tv (which has since been fixed) but everything that was connected to it (my ps3, receiver, and my iMac) ports are all not working now... (and yes i did try new hdmi cables to see if it was just that) If this is a hardware issue what exactly is needed to fix this? A new main board? Any feedback would be great on this. I took it to apple and they said $650 to replace the motherboard... Was just wondering if this port can just be replaced or if it is a part of the main board and that does need replacing. Everything else works fine on all three things (ps3, receiver, imac) just the outputs are fried on them. Is there any other way I can do video out of my iMac other than mini dvi? I'm not paying for the repair so I don't mind having apple replace the board, but for $650... I may as well get a new iMac for $500 more...

If Apple said the motherboard is gone, that's your answer. Even if you were to find out the port isn't part of the main board, it's all connected when you're talking about a power surge/short as you described it. And yes, I'd never invest $650 in a 5 year old computer.

  • M92Z like monitor display port in connect to DVI thinkpad ultra dock

I´m coneccting a thinkpad ultra dock DVI to M92Z display port in, but not work, the monitor is in black. I´m using a DVI cable and a DVI to Display port adapter (43N9160).

DVI (computer) to ADC (display) adapters are only for LCDs, not CRTs. Most do not pass trough the analog video signals needed for a CRT, and do not provide enough power. I have seen reports that the Gefen DVI to ADC adapter
<http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=1203> does pass the video signals, but the power supply gets VERY hot when running a CRT. You could replace the supply with a bigger one. I think you need 28V 4A.

  • Portege R500: cannot connect the remote DVI monitor via Dynadock

    Hello,
I just connected Dynadock (DVI) with my Portege R500. The notebook would be supported -- according to Toshiba -- but my experiment confirms that Dynadock is not able to access DVI port. This implies, that Dynadock is nothing more than USB HUB.
My setup: Vista 32b Business (CZE edition), latest fixes, Toshiba R500.
    Software: latest dynadock software 2.3c.
Symptom: I cannot connect to the remote DVI monitor via the dynadock, only two external panels with 800x600 are available, but Vista does not allow me to choose them.
More info: Dynadock Software requires to run without Microsoft Defender, else it blocks service:DisplayLinkService; file:C:\Program Files\DisplayLink Core Software\DisplayLinkService.exe
If you disable MSDef, the message "error 2738" appears when you connect the dynadock and when Vista tries to install a missing drivers for you.
Yes, I do know the VBS issue, and the problem is not caused by VisualBasic -- VBS "Hello World" runs.
If you still believe, that Toshiba Dynadock is compatible with Toshiba R500, then press Fn-F5 and peek at your logs and you must find something like:
In English: igfxext.exe throws an exception 0xc000000d, offset 0x0000f9f8.
I welcome any comments, hints etc. If you are able to pass this bug report to a responsible engineer, do so please.

    Hello again Leo
I still believe you are wrong. Toshiba Dynadock is not designed for Toshiba products only. It is universal product and can be used on every notebook. To be honest I believe it is better to use it with new, more powerful, notebooks.
When you sat your notebook model is listed as compatible I believe you. Why not? Toshiba can list all newer notebooks. No problem at all. To be honest I am also interested to buy Dynadock but after reading your posting I wanted to see how it works exactly.
I have contacted my friend because he works in one big electronic store and I was lucky because he had Portege M500 too.
He was very nice and offered me to test Portege M500 SSD model with Dynadck PA3542EY1PRP. I hope you have the same model. It is DVI model. So I have done follow:
    - Portege was preinstalled with clean Vista OS (factory settings started for the first time)
    - I have installed latest Dynadock Utilitiy for Vista 2.3c
    - Installing this software you must pay attention about installations steps and the installations procedure should not be interrupted
at one step there is window Installation Complete but it is not complete and must be continued with
    Display Link Core Software installation
    Video Dock installation
at this point the Dynadock must be connected to favorite USB port NOT FROM THE BEGINNING
    - At the end I have restarted notebook
The installation was finished properly and I have connected 20 Toshiba Tekbright LCD display (DVI cable). The native resolution is 1680x1050. in Display properties there are shown three displays. Display number 3 belongs to display connected to the Dynadock.
Resolution 1680x1050 was there and display shows perfect picture. I have tested it as extended desktop and it works without problems. I didnt test it playing some movies.
I have also tested it with FN+F5 key combination. It does not work as it should be but there is definitely no error message. I know that FN+F5 key combination is not designed for external graphic card and I know that it can not work well.
At the end I can sat that Dynadock works well with Portege M500 SSD and there is definitely no error message. It works with Vista very well. I have tested it with screen saver and with few restarts. Nothing changes. Everything was OK.
So after this test I can say that you have done some mistake. If you want to use it again I recommend you to install Vista again using recovery image. After doing this you will have clean preinstalled OS. Install software but please follow the menu on the screen and be sure all three components are installed properly. If I am remembering well when you see message about USB audio device installation you must connect Dynadock and continue installation.
PLEASE FOE DYNADOCK USE ALWAYS THE SAME USB PORT!!!
Sorry for this long story but I can say for sure IT WORKS PROPERLY!!!
    Have a nice day!

  • Help with sound output via HDMI

My sound output via HDMI suddenly stopped worked to my TV set. I've reset the PRAM and the SMC. When I go to sound control panel for sound output, the setting is on Headphones. When I try to change it to SV420XVT1A (the tv) it immediately jumps back to headphone. I also tried a different HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv. This just started after the Mac Mini had been turned off for a week. I'm using Lion and it's an 8GB Intel Core 2 Duo. Any suggestions?

I actually discovered this answer about 5 minutes after I posted the question. Thanks a lot for your help!! Funny thing is that it had worked all along with something plugged in the headphone jack but suddenly stopped working. Again, thanks!

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

  • How to transfer file from PC to PC via serial port using labview

I need to transfer files(.txt, .doc, .xls) from PC to PC via serial port using LabVIEW. Is it possible to transfer files, if so how to transfer?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, it is possible to transfer files with the serial port using LabVIEW.  Files are just collections of bytes and the serial port is pretty good at shipping bytes from one PC to another.  You need to connect the serial ports together with a null modem cable.
First, take a look at the example for serial communication.   In LabVIEW, go to the Help menu and select "Find Examples...".  From there you can search for "serial" or navigate to Hardware Input and Output >> Serial.  Select the "Basic Serial Write and Read.vi".  Experiment with that example to gain confidence on the serial communication methods.
Next, it's time to learn about how to read and write files.  For that, the examples could be somewhat confusing since they all deal with files that are presumed to have data of a specific type in them.  I would recommend just getting familiar with the functions on the File I/O palette.  Specifically, get to know the following functions.
Open/Create/Replace File - On your destination side, you'll need to create the copy of the file that you are trying to transfer
Close File - When you are finished reading from or writing to a file, you should close it.  It cleans up the memory being used and finalizes any write operations that are still floating in the write buffer.
Read From Binary File - The best way to read from a file when you do not really care what type of file it is.  In your case, you just want to get those bytes read and sent out so they can be written down at the destination.
Write to Binary File - At the destination side, this is what will store those bytes to the file you created with number 1.
Get File Size (under the Advanced File Functions sub-palette) - You need to know how big the file is so you know when you are finished.
OK, so once you are able to create files, write bytes to them, and read bytes from existing files you can move on to transferring.
The basic method I would suggest is to have the user specify a source file on the source PC and a destination folder on the destination PC.  Then, find out the size of the source file using number 5.  Divide that size number by the number of bytes you feel like transferring at once.  The serial buffers are usually around 32k (if I remember correctly) so do not exceed that.  Now begin sending data by reading some number of bytes and wiring that string output to the VISA Write function.  On the destination side, you'll want to be monitoring the serial port for bytes and reading them when they arrive.  Wire that string to the Write to Binary File function to add them to your destination file.
That is the basic outline of how to do it.  You have to be careful not to overload the write and read buffers on the serial ports.  Initially you can use delays on the sending side to make sure the reading side has enough time to digest.  To get things moving faster, you can bring in some flow control.
If all that sounds a bit intimidating, there are Alliance Member companies out there (such as PrimeTest Automation) who can write such code for you and even provide a turnkey solution for you.

  • Output to display port Problems

    Hi,
    I have a X220 Tablet with a HP L2045w Monitor connected (Win 7/64).
Usually I connected the Monitor via Display port (with a Display port to Single DVI Adapter) which worked properly.
For a short while I needed the Display Port Adapter on aanother PC. So I switched the connection to VGA.
Now I got the Display Port adapter back and connected the Monitor again with the DVI, but the Monitor kept blank no matter what I tried. Checked Monitor settings and BIOS settings.
So I downloaded the newest video driver for my notebook and installed it. During installation the monitor suddenly startet to work. FN + F7 worked properly. After installation I was asked to restart the computer. After restart same problem again. Display stayed dark.
I can reaproduce this. Installing the display driver resolves the problem untill the next restart.
After the driver installation the HP L2045w is recognized in the resolution settings. After the restart I only see a VGA monitor as a choice.
If I connect a HP L1925 monitor to the Display port it works properly.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi there MSPoettl,
I updated to the new firmware for the 24' when it was released. This largely fixed the problem, although the Lacie's fan makes a very airy noise as it blows. The image on the 24' led apple careen is stable, so good news there. However when plugging the MBair into the Lacie and then into a 27' iMac I still get occasional distortion.
    Good luck.

  • Will an X220 drive a Dell UP2414Q 4K 3840 x 2160 Monitor via Display Port?

I've not been able to find any information about this on the web and there is definitely some confusion about DisplayPort versions - could some one answer the question will an X220 drive a Dell UP2414Q 4K IPS Monitor at it's native resolution of 3840 x 2160 Monitor via Display Port? Would that be at 30Hz rather than 60Hz?
    Many thanks, Mark.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The X220 will drive the Dell UP2414Q 4K resolution through Displayport. I have tested this on the Pro2840m LCD which has the same resolution. But only on 30 hz refresh rate.
The X220 with the Series 3 Workstation Dock will drive 2 of the Pro2840m through 2 separate displayport.
The X201 will also drive this 4K resolution, as long as the LCD's 4K can accept Displayport 1.1 standard (on the 1.2 standard, the LCD will stay blank).
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14671257827/in/set-72157645860787090
the above image confirms the 4K resolution and my X220 driving that resolution @ 30 hz.
For 60 hz refresh rate on the 4K resolution with integrated Intel GPU, you need Haswell CPU with the HD5000 graphics card, anything below that will only drive the 4K resolution at 30 Hz.

  • IBook DVI output

I'm trying to connect my iBook G4 12" to a DVI monitor. I'm using the VGA adapter that came with my laptop and a DVI cable that came with my monitor and both work for other applications. I am also using a small $20 VGA-to-DVI adapter. It is either this, the monitor, or the laptop that is causing the problem. The two other cables are functional. Is there something I need to do on my laptop to signal that it is hooked up to a DVI monitor? I have connected a PowerBook through the same port minus the VGA-to-DVI converter and it also did not work; however the same set up, DVI adapter and cord, worked with the PowerBook on another DVI monitor and a television. Is the convertor insufficient or should I look more into supprt from my monitor's manufacturer?
    iBook G4 12-inch   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

The iBook does NOT have DVI output.
The iBook G4 has a mini-VGA connector on the back.
    I am also using a small $20 VGA-to-DVI adapter.
That device is for converting a DVI output to a VGA monitor. It does not work in the opposite direction.
The devices that convert VGA to DVI are active devices and the ones I have seen are several hundreds of US dollars.

IF your Shuffle shows NO light after the flashing amber, it is NOT charging...which may mean that the USB port isn't supplying adequate power. Are you plugging the dock's cable DIRECTLY into a USB port on the back of your computer. Do NOT use a keyboard USB port.

When it's flashing it's either in use by iTunes or your computer thinks the Shuffle is a data storage drive. Either EJECT it in iTunes OR "Safely remove hardware" in the system tray. The light should turn solid orange and after some number of hours, green.
