T22 - how much O/S updating is possible?

Hi all, newbie to the forum here, and it's a great resouce!
My question deals with my T22 (2647-8CU) running Win2000 Prof'l.  It was my work machine prior to retirement, and I got to keep it when I left my job.  That was 6 yrs ago, but it still runs great.  Aside from slow boot-ups, it still gets the job done.  The problem I'm running into lately is that support for Win2k is non-existent, and IE6 is quickly becoming a dinosaur.  I don't think I can upgrade the browser without upgrading the O/S.  Is it possible to bring this T22 into the 21st century?  If so, how "current" can I become - W7?  What other upgrades would be necessary to do this - i.e. more/faster RAM?  Or should I just bite the bullet and get a brand new computer?
Thanks in advance for any input.
Ted

you can run Win XP on it if you want. But you would have to upgrade the ram to at least 256 mb. Win 7 or Vista would be too much for this machine.
If you want more speed then you should just get a new computer, or a second hand computer at that.
Why not have a look at the outlet.lenovo.com and see what bargains you can snap up. Personally i think this laptop is very good.

  • Possible to check how much time an update statement on a table would take ?

    Hello @all
I have a table with a fragmented Index, the table has an actula "user_updates" from 226'699.
How can i find out how much time an update on this table takes ?
i would like to check if there is any performance increase when i regroup the index (rebuild), cause the index has a fragementation of 85% now... (or should i delete the index completely) cause there are no user_seeks... only user_updates on the table...
and i thought that indexes only makes sense if users are reading from the table... am i wrong ? (cause on every update from the table, the index (indexes) have to be updated too...
    Thanks and Regards
    Dominic

Rebuilding the index will not likely result in a modification be quicker. At least not more than marginal. In fact, it might wven be slower, since if you currently have space on the index page for the new row and then rebuild so you *don't* have space then
the index rebuild will make that update be slower (at least for the cases where you get page splits).
However if the index isn't used to find rows (any of the other three columns), then you have an index which only cost you and doesn't help you!

  • How can I find out how much data an update takes

I have only limited access to data, unless I'm paying big overage charges.  Thereforre I want to know before hand how much data i will download with each update.  No information appears to be available when you want to update your pages, numbers or keynotes.  This applies to apps in MAC.  I operate wit Yosemite OS X. on on a 27inch Mac #)^ GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. any info would be great.  Thanks.

Besides the good ideas given so far, you could look into a few Support
Sites for information such as the App Store as suggested to read each
item that appears to be available for your existing system version...
And consider looking through this page and adjoining links within it for more:
    •OS X - Recent Software Updates - Apple Support:
    http://www.apple.com/support/osx/software-updates/
I've been fairly aware of the limitations and bandwidth overage charges or
a reduction in available access to the internet when & if one runs over...
And there is plenty of useless stuff loaded in web pages that can waste it.
Hopefully you have a good archive to save the important download versions
(& backups) so you may be able to use them again offline, when possible.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How much is an update from Adobe Photoshop CS5 for PC to Adobe Photoshop CS6 for Mac?

I have had Adobe Photoshop CS5 on my PC for less than a year.  Since the software will not transfer to my Mac, how much would it be to update to CS6 for Macs?

The upgrade price is the same, you just need to order the correct cross-platform upgrade.

  • Why don't they put how much usage each update will take.  I am on broadband and not sure if I have enough GBs left to do an update.

I have broadband and it just cost me $75 OVER my monthly bill to download Yosemite and the update for iphotos.  NOW, I have notice that it needs two more updates.  Why don't they tell us how much data will be used with an update so we can plan when and which updates to do now, and some later?  The old system they had, they did tell and I was able to ration out which ones to update over the months.

It all depends on how much you'll use the iPhone for internet access. Personally, I use it frequently (work email, browsing with Safari, the Amazon.com app, etc.,) and I use 200-300 MB per month. My wife does not use her iPhone for much outside of email, weather, etc., occasional Internet browsing, and she uses 40-50 MB per month. So, you should be fine with 150 MB.
    Hope that helps...

  • How much storage it takes for iso8 update as i have iphoce 5c 8gb

    I have iphone 5c 8gb.
I need to update to iso8 but my concern is how much memory the update takes.
Because i got only 5gb space on board, If it takes more than 1.5 to 2 gb then i will leave with no space at all to apps, songs and music.
    Please help me.

If your ipad has only 797 MB free and it tells you that you need 3.4 GB to update, then you need to begin deleing files, whatever it takes to free up space.
    Consider...
    Delete apps you don't use.
Delete videos you don't want (these take up a lot of space).
Do you have a lot of emails stored on the device?
Are there apps that store data files, like a PDF reader?  If there are a lot of these, you need to delete some.
The bottom line is that you need to remove data and/or apps on your device to make more storage available.
But for videos and photos, always sync them to a computer first to archive them.

  • My trackpad cracked! How much normally would it cost to replace it?

Hi. Recently my Macbook Air trackpad cracked. I realize that the people on the community are costumers, not employees, but I'm wondering of any of you have gotten your trackpad replaced and how much it cost and if possible, how long it took to replace. Thank you!
P.S. For getting it replaced I am planning on getting it replaced at an Apple Store.

Apple doesn't repair it.  If there is no sign of abuse, they replace it with a refurbished unit.  The fixed-price for non-warranty replacements can be found here.

I am using an iphone 4 .I have two question

    2) Is it possible to upgrade this to iOS5 , if possible how much will it cost ,

What are the main additional features available with this version
Much better notifications, better Mail, better camera, iCloud, wireless syncing, wireless updates, etc.
You can read this review of iOS 5

IS it risky to upgrade to the iOS5 , Because I have seen many post in form that many people faceing issue when they upgrade to the latest version
It isn't that risky. You may be reading hundreds of posts here about problems, but that is out of MILLIONS of iPhones that have been upgraded. Percentage-wise, that means most people have no problem.
However, as with any major change to your system, you should back up everything your iPhone first. Just right-click it in iTunes to get the backup menu. That will be your safe fallback position in case something goes wrong.
I still use an iPhone 3GS. That's older than your iPhone. But iOS 5 works fine on it.

  • How much is possible?

I'm currently designing a new website. It will be a very informative website (for dog owners in the city I live in), but it should also be fun and just useful.
I already have two websites, done in iWeb, and I want this one to be even more professional. What I'm looking for is some interactivity, like a rating system, or a comment system. I'm also looking into making a bit of money with the site.
But how much is possible in iWeb? I've been surprised by the software more than once, but I'm always having issues with the lack of interactivity. Should I look into other software or do I just need some advice?

A rating and comment system is not what I consider interactivity.
And speaking about it, is searching for answers an interactivity?
    http://www.honden.nl/
    Look at the search field.
And on this site they talk about it too :
    http://www.doggiesparadise.be/hondenwinkel/content/4-over-ons
How much dynamics do you want?
That's what I mean by looking beyond iWeb.
    And here's a similar question :
