T4-1 rack mount server as a remote server for disaster recovery setup.

Hi,
I would like to ask some basic questions, as Solaris is not my area.
1)
T4-1 server is a rack mount server.  Now, we would like to use it for DR purpose.  Can we keep this rack mount server on remote location without conversion kit (to use it as a tower server).
2)
As I am new to this, would like to ask a basic question. This T4-1 server has 4 * 300GB hdd.   To expand storage capacity, we would like to add hard disks to this server.  Do we have to add 300gb hard disks only ? or we can add 2 new 600 GB hard disks.
Thanks

1) Yes, it does not need to be racked to run.  Putting it on a wire rack should work fine. Just verify the power and cooling requirements.
2) You can add new internal disks, the system holds up to 8 internal 2.5" disks. Using a zpool, I would consider adding 4 more 600G disks for a RAIDZ pool, though you can add 2 600G disks and mirror them.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Disaster Recovery

    Hi all,
This is regarding Disaster Recovery approach for Oracle Application Server 10g. There are two environments Active (DC-PROD) and Stand-By (DR-PROD). Each environment have 2 nodes where OAS Instances are installed in both nodes and each environment has a Virtual Hostname (Virtual IP) used. The 2 nodes hostnames of DC-PROD environment differs from 2 nodes of the other environment DR-PROD.
However the Virtual Hostname is same between two environments.
The env DC-PROD is setup already and is working fine. Now we have to setup DR-PROD env for disaster Recovery purpose. DR-PROD is also setup independently from DC-PROD. Each env has seperate DB servers in RAC mode. We are using EMC SRDF replication technology to do DB replication between DC-PROD and DR-PROD environments.
There is no disk replication between Oracle Application Servers of two environments DC-PROD and DR-PROD. DC-PROD is NOT setup using Oracle AS Guard for some reasons and we are in a situation that DC-PROD should not be touched at all.
So if the Database is replicated from DC-PROD to DR-PROD servers using EMC SRDF replication technology, while bring up OAS Infra services in DR-PROD node, OC4J is failing to come up. After some workarounds, OC4J cameup but we are unable to login to OIDDAS console.
    ssoServer.log shows the following: -

Please provide us the inputs to achieve Disaster Recovery for OAS 10g without using Oracle AS Guard.
This is very urgent and your inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mahendra.

Another point to add for the environment details. Both DC-PROD and DR-PROD environments does not have connectivity at all. Only the DB connectivity is there for doing DB replication.
EMC SRDF replication technology is a block by block replication i.e., a disk replication. Hope these details are sufficient for environment specifications.

  • Seeking best practice for disaster recovery for osx server

I am seeking a solid disaster recovery solution. I would be happy if it complements Time Machine, but I don't require that.
I use DAR2 for the linux systems, but with the aid of nice UI provided by the distro vendor. It provides all the files necessary to follow up a clean base OS install with a file restore to provide a full recovery from a disaster.
I just placed a new Mac Mini Server with the Promise Tech DS4600 in service, so I am eager to put a plan in place.
What do other Mac OS Server users do?
I would be most grateful for links to articles, products and suggestions.

For anyone who comes across this post, here is what I settled on:
The server is a mac mini server and is configured with RAID 1 over the two hard disks. I use DAR to backup the linux boxes to the OSX Server. Carbon Copy Cloner is used to backup the OSX Server to a 2 terabyte storage array.
Hopefully this will suffice for the time being. I continue to look for better approaches.

    Hi Anil.
you should be sure if user SAPINPDB exists in the database system and it is mapped to the SAPINPDB user of the DB.... this if you use SQL Server, but the rule should be something like this in other DB systems!!!

  • Leopard Rack Mount Server shutting down

We have a new OSX server that is shutting down each day on its own.
The log tells us "improper shutdown detected"
My guess is that we have some setting wrong, but can't seem to figure which one. Currently we are using our old G4 server running an older version and are unwilling to migrate to the new server until we can get it to run without shutting down.
Can anyone assist us in diagnosing and fixing the problem?
    Thanks,

The server has been to the local repair shop where it was diagnosed as a bad power supply and that was replaced. Unfortunately, that seems to have not been the solution.
I'm at home now and the server is at work. I'll be away at a conference this next week, but hopefully I can get our network specialist to send the log to me via email so I can post it.
We are getting rather frustrated since the server is about 6 months old now and still has not been in service.
Thanks for your suggestions, I'll get back as soon as I have the additional information.

  • Source for latest HUU for Cisco rack-mount server

    Good morning, all!
I've been looking around for the latest HUU pack for my aging Cisco Rackmount servers.  These are garden-variety C210 M2 servers.  The CIMC matrix refers to a version 14.4(s) - which I can't find anywhere for download.  Is there a source for these older firmware and driver bundles?
If that's not viable, will a package in the 15.X range run on one of these C210 servers?  Maybe even 2.X?
    Thanks to all for looking!

  • Same Server 2013 Disaster Recovery using Database Portability

    Hi,
I need to rebuild a 2012 Server with AD (Domain controller) + Exchange 2013 starting totally from scratch.
I do have a copy of the clearly unmounted Mailbox Database.
For whatever reasons, the new server MUST use the old Computer Name and the old AD domain configured as a new forest on the new server. So, the old DC was DC.mydomain.com and it has to be the same on the new machine.
I did the AD configuration respecting these constrains.
When it comes to Exchange 2013, I did a clean install of the 2013 CU3 (same as it was on the old server) and used the same organization name (as required by Database Portability). Then, I followed  the procedure reported at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876926%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx
and sadly, when I run the
    Get-Mailbox -Database <SourceDatabase>
I get no results, even if the DB contains several mailboxes.
I double checked every step of my procedure also according to different forum/blog posts I found googling but no luck.
    Please, give me an advice.
    Any help is appreciated.

I believe that you might be able to mount an EDB file under the circumstances you describe.
Get-Mailbox does an Active Directory lookup of users, and returns the mailboxes it finds.  Simply restoring the database does not populate all the data in AD with the mail-enabled attributes.  You might be able to do that by using Connect-Mailbox
to connect the user account with the disabled mailbox in the database.
So, if you can get the database (with no log files) mounted using Mount-Database -AcceptDataLoss, then you might be able to use Connect-Mailbox to connect the newly-created user accounts with the disabled mailboxes in the database you mounted.
I believe this should work, but I've never had to do it myself, so I can't promise anything.

  • Exchange 2010 database mailbox restore after restore server form disaster recovery

    Hello ,
after my exchange server failed  i am installed new server and recovered server
successfully, i have 4 database mailbox all this database dismount and users cannot
connect their mailbox , i have backup for all database(separate).
what should to do to restore database mailbox. so that users can connect their mailbox
    thanks

    Hi activenew
    Thank you for your question.
After we recover the exchange successfully by using “Setup /m:RecoverServer” cmdlet, the exchange server database is in the dismount status, then we will restore the exchange database by your backup tool. After we restore database, the database
is mount, then our client can connect exchange server and send/receive email .
We can refer to the follow link:
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-mailbox-database-backup-restore-windows-server-backup/
We can also refer to recovering an exchange database:

  • Exchange Server 2003 Disaster Recovery

    Hi!
My exchange server 2003 reside on the same server where my DC was installed. Later on, my AD database had been corrupted and no system state backups. The problem is i cannot log on the said server in normal mode but I can log on to it in DSRM mode. Is it
possible to remove/uninstalled the exchange under DSRM mode?
    Please help.
    Thanks

Exchange EDB Recovery is powerful tool to repair and restore inaccessible mailboxes of Exchange Server and repairs the database files of Exchange Server. It recovers EDB server mailboxes and imports them directly to Outlook and these files are used as PST

It seems that all current design for Intel 865 Chipset and above have the audio head higher than the height of a 1U rack-mount casing thus it makes it difficult to build entry level server with them. Older designs (845) have the audio head flat thus is not affected. Hope MSI look into this.

Have you any cluster script ( HACMP Cluster script for SAP ECC 6.0 ) ?
    Thanks & Regards,

During the installation, I would use the same <sidadm> existing as it is in the PRD.
If I tell you to install it during the same <sidadm> it will overwrite what already exists, or do I just enter the password of existing <sidadm>?

  • "Disaster Recovery with Messaging server"

Suggest a better solution for load balancing on Netscape Messaging Server. Also for disaster recovery - in case one server goes down.

Better solution than what? Nothing? Use a cluster for the mail store. Use more than a single server for the other components and use a load balancer as the front end for those services.
