T400 and Minidock 3 (170W) Compatibility

Hello, I have a T400 (2767-DR4) and purchased a Minidock 3 Plus 170W (4338), but the connectors appear incompatible.  The dock's description page at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76767 says its compatible with all T400s; thoughts?  Many thanks.

It is compatible with "T400s" models, not "T400" models. You need a 2504 dock, which is cheaper

  • T410 and W510 - Charger & batteries compatibility

    Hello,
I will try to be as brief as possible, pardon me for my ignorance on this topic.
My T410 is faulty beyond repair and I bought a W510. So I now have a spare AC Adapter and 2 spare batteries for T410. The batteries for T410 is the exact same size and can fit in the W510.
    The details:-
    T410 AC Adapter
    FRU P/N: 42T4425
    P/N: 42T4424
    90W 20V
    Output: 20V 4.5A
    T410 6-cell battery
    FRU P/N: 42T4791
    P/N: 42T4790
    NOM 10.8V 5.2Ah 57Wh
    PSE 10.8V 4.76Ah
    T410 9-cell SLICE battery
    FRU P/N: 42T4739
    P/N: 42T4740
    NOM 11.1V 8.4Ah 94Wh
    PSE 11.1V 7.74Ah
    W510 AC Adapter
    FRU P/N: 45N0053
    P/N: 45N0052
    135W 20V
    Output: 20V 6.75A
    W510 6-cell battery
    FRU P/N: 42T4795
    P/N: 42T4794
    NOM 10.8V 5.2Ah 57Wh
    PSE 10.8V 4.68Ah
With reference to the specs above, my questions are:
    1) May I use the T410 6-cell and slice battery on my W510? If so, do I need to use the T410 adapter on my W510?
    2) Will I kill my battery or my notebook...
    a) ... if I use the T410 adapter on my W510?
    b) ... if I use the W510 adapter to charge the T410 batteries slotted on my W510?
I regret for not paying attention in class
    Any help appreciated.

seems like you are wasting your time.....Lenovo in their infinite wisdom have decided that you can either use a docking station or a stand, but not both! How ridiculous is that? I'm instead buying T400's that are still in stock (for a great price) and trying to source a docking station and stand from somewhere else as my supplier tells me they dont have any in stock and are unlikely to get more.
I think it is very poor that lenovo have removed this option....why would I want a stand that I coudnt dock with? This is a deal breaker for me, and I will be looking at other brands from now on due to this.

  • Problem with T400 and external monitor (1920x1200 resolution)

    Hi there
    My laptop:
ThinkPad T400 2767-C99* (graphics is: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 256MB / X4500MHD (Switchable Graphics)), OS is WinXP
I just installed the newest video driver from the lenovo page (which also installs "ATI catalyst")
    Externale Monitor:
I just bought a Samsung SyncMaster 2443FW, 24" TFT monitor with maximum resolution 1920x1200
    Problem:
Monitor works great with my newer T400s and my old Acer laptop. However, with my T400 (described above), I can't make the monitor use the 1920x1200 resolution. However, all the other resolutions look ugly so I need it to work with 1920x120
    - If i change the resolution by rightclicking on the Windows XP desktop (and then properties=>settings) and set the screen resolution there to 1920x1200, then my monitor only used a lower resoltion (1440x900) and I get a scrolling effect as I move my pointer across the screen
    - if I use ATI catalyst software to set the resolution, I can only chose smaller resolutions (it does no go up to 1920x1200)
    Questions
Is that a hardware (maybe the graphic card does not support 1920x1200) or a software problem (maybe some problem with the driver) or just a matter of setting?
    What can I do?
Help would be very much appreaciated!

I have already installed the newsest drivers from Lenovo. I don't really see why I should install a non-official driver. I am convinced that it must work somehow with the official driver.
    Kind regards
there are plenty of instances where the official driver have glitches... just look around the forum to find instances of which.... while official drivers maybe better in most instances, there are always the odd case where it doesn't work as well as it should. If they perfectly out of box, then there would never need to be multiple revisions and updates.

  • T400 and Windows 8

I have a T400S and did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro. I installed the currently available Lenovo Windows 8 drivers and am looking for feedback from anyone who's found a work-around for the missing Bluetooth driver (and Intel AMT). Otherwise, no issues at all. I know the T400 is not officially supported but am curious as to whether additional Lenovo Windows 8 drivers (and/or access to the Lenovo Store apps) will be forthcoming. Thanks.

Go to the Broadcom website and download/install the latest drivers.

  • T400 and hibernation in Vista

After I enable hibernation on my T400 and then power it on, it reboots rather than resuming my Vista os.  Any ideas why?

I send these enhancements for iTunes today. But I sent those enhancements for QuickTime since I look the overview of "RUNNING QUICKTIME ON VISTA" and I tried it. Once these enhancement feedbacks has been sent to Apple. They should fix it and not to be ignored. I want to see the new look of iTunes and QuickTime UI Running Windows Vista.

  • T400 and gaming............Any good??

Hows the t400 and gaming,  is the graphics card good.  I think I have the base model card.

you can either get the Intel X4500 or the ATI 3470, some older games are playable. There is a review of someone playing some games on a T400 using both the intel and ati graphics card.
These laptops are not really meant for games.

  • Loose hinges on T400 and Lenovo won't fix it?

    Hi.
I have recently bought a 13 month old T400 and I'm very pleased with it.
But the hinges for the screen are a bit loose. I called and authorized service center i Denmark (ServiceGruppen), and they said it wasn't covered by warranty?
I thought that Lenovo were a bit more service minded.. ?? Poor service..
What to do? Can I fix this by my self?

  • T400 and Incompatibility with Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC Hal.dll

I manage the master XP image for our company and I have managed to keep 1 master image for every model of laptop hardware we have, from older P3's all the way to the T61's using the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC Hal.dll.  During the sysprep process, the user would have the option to update the HAL to the ACPI Multiprocessor PC.  Unfortunately, the new T400 and (W500's also) seem to be incompatibile with this HAL.  On the sysprepped image, I get a black screen on initial boot-up.  On reboot, I am asked if I want to start in safe mode.  I also played around with the Standard PC HAL and it also exhibited the same problems.  The only HALs that will work are the ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL and ACPI Multiprocessor PC.  Using either one of these HALs on my master image could be incompatibile with older hardware.  I hate to have to move to maintaining two images.  Anybody have any experience in getting the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC HAL working on these new Lenovo models?  Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I also have the same problem.
I have a hardware independant image that i have built in MS VPC / MS VS05 which is then sysprep'd and captured into a WIM file.
Before i built my base image in the virtual environment, i configured all the automation files used to install windows, to include the latest Intel Matrix drivers v8.5, including the sysprep files in the base image.
I have a custom WinPE v2.1 that the machine boots of the network, and runs a vbscript in the background to partition the disks, and map drives to the network, it then extracts the WIM file to the hard disk, and copies the required drivers from the network share for the model being imaged, and then proceeds to updating the sysprep.inf.
One of the process's that is performed is checking what HAL to write into the sysprep file.
I have forced all the different types of HAL's by hard coding them in the sysprep, but after the machine reboots i get the black screen of nothing and no hard disk activity, if i reboot into safe mode it freezes on agpCPQ.sys.
I use this build process to support around 5,000 different machines at two different companies, there is proberly about 30 different models of machines that are supported by this image, (HP, Acer, Toshiba, IBM, Lenovo)and i only have the issue with the new Lenovo x301, T400 & T500.
I have spoken with Lenovo Australia, and dealt directly with the advanced system engineers and even forwarded them a copy of my image for testing, so far they have not been able to provide a solution.
They also sent me a copy of the restore disks for those models and windows xp installed without an issue, but the difference is that their image does a fully automated install where as my image is a sysprep'd image.
I checked the machines HAL type after it was imaged, and it is the same as the HAL used inside my VM Image.

  • Dock Compatibility between T430 and newer T440?

I have a T430, purchased 12 months ago which I love and a 433835U mini dock plus series 3 (170w) Docking station.  I would like to get a new laptop for my wife and would like one that can plug into the same dock so she can use the 2 large screens and desk setup easily.  It appears the T440 or T440p are the replacements to the T430.  It is probably asking too much to think that one of these might be compatible with my ultrabay CD/DVD drive from my T430 but if so that would really seal the deal.  Can anyone tell me if the T440 or T440p is compatible with my dock and/or my ultrabay drive?
    Much Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum!
AFAIK, the answer to both of your questions is "no".

  • Power adapters and worldwide compatibility - a lesson

The standard fare today in power adapters is such that the brick itself is compatible around the world. Indeed, the input power on a Lenovo AC adapter is rated from 100-240V and 50 or 60Hz - capable of operating on any power standard. The only catch is of course the wall plug in various countries. Again, most adapters have a removable adapter-to-wall power cord and if the manufacturer has a worldwide presence, you can likely order a country-specific power cord. Lenovo is such a company and you can find power cords for most geographies, like here. I'm preparing for a trip to New Zealand, my first out of the country, and wanted to be prepared to have my lifeline (aka ThinkPad) ready for the new locale. I looked up the power cord FRU (Field Replaceable Unit) number, called up IBM parts to verify availability, and placed the order. I was also delivering a new T61 to my mother-in-law and the U.S. power cord would be a burden down there. At $2.80 each plus a flat shipping fee, it was a no-brainer.
    Australia/NZ Cord
As a side note, I ordered the adapters Monday night and they arrived Tuesday morning
    I open the box to find a goofy-looking wall-plug (no offense... ) and what's this - a three-prong adapter-plug???
    Australia/NZ plug
It looks a heckuva lot like the old T4x 16V power adapters and I figured I got the wrong FRU, dangit! After having gloated to Matt Kohut, our resident globetrotter, about my adapter-ordering-savvy, I mentioned in passing my situation. No sooner did my lips stop flapping did Matt whisk me away to a seemingly endless drawer in his desk, filled with dozens of black rectangles. Out of it came a seemingly normal looking 65W adapter.
    Two very similar power adapters
Do you see a difference in the two adapters? I didn't at first either. Ah, there it is -
    U.S. adapter vs ANZ adapter
It turns out that some countries still require an extra grounding wire in AC adapters and do the three-prong plug must be used. There I was thinking in my smugness that I could get away with a new power cord alone, not so!
I hope this helps anyone shopping for power adapters or cords soon. Thanks to Mr. Kohut I have a couple power adapters perfect for my mother-in-law's new T61, so she can compute around New Zealand without needing a silly plug adapter like us Yankees will use down there.
For reference, here are the part numbers in question:
    2-prong 65W AC adapter: 92P1214
    3-prong 65W AC adapter: 92P1153

They are different because the two notebooks use a different power system. Your R51 uses the old 16V adapters and the T60 uses the newer 20V versions. Starting with the Z60 series, it was decided to upgrade our power delivery capabilities to meet the ever-increasing power demands of mobile computing.

  • Windows 7 and Photosmart D6160 compatibility problem

My HP Photosmart D6160 printer used to be connected to an XP operating system computer, but that broke down and I purchased an HP P6313UK with Windows 7 Home, but I don't seem to have all the functions available to me anymore.  There is no longer the solution centre so I cannot view my ink levels.  Does anyone know how I can get round this problem, as reading on HP website, it says there will be issues with using it on a pc with Windows 7.

I have the same problem - have been in contact with HP support but they are really useless, you would think that there would be software available for a printer that is only 18 months old.

  • Windows 7 RC Compatibility for C7280 and LightScribe

Will the C7280 Full Software install under the Windows 7 Release Candidate (not talking about the earlier beta builds), either in Vista Compatibility Mode, or with no modifications? Will all the updates install (including the recently released printer update to stop Office crashes) in regular or Vista Comp Mode? I’ve been reading also that scanner errors may occur, but I don’t know if this applies to the RC or earlier builds. I am running Vista right now. I know Windows 7 has basic drivers included. I have a copy of the RC  and would like to upgrade, but would prefer to retain as much functionally as possible first. Are Windows 7 drivers for the C7280 coming soon (either at full release or shortly before). I sent an e-mail about this two days ago and haven’t received a response. Also, I have a Lightscribe drive. Will this work in Windows 7? I’ve read both yes and no to this. I’ve heard the earlier betas give a false “Lightscribe failed to start” warning. Will new drivers be available soon if they are needed?Thank you so much

Hi mugentuner, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
There's a lot of good information, including which systems are officially Windows 7 upgrade-capable, on the Lenovo support site:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-HOME.html
After a clean install you of course need to apply Lenovo drivers & software. System Update is the easiest way.
For systems not on the official upgrade-capable list, a Windows 7 upgrade may be possible, but gets increasingly difficult the older the system is.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • RAM compatibility, T440p and CAS latency

I read in a review of the 440p elsewhere that the user reported that the default shipping RAM in his device was DDR3 12800 CAS 11-11-11-28 at 1.35 volts.
There's a nice Black Friday deal on a 9-9-9-28 part and I wonder if there would be any compatibility issue by getting that.

  • Surreal theme and official 4.5 OS compatibility

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but a while back (around June 2008), RIM released the surreal and stargazer themes; however, the themes were only compatible with OS 4.2 (some unlucky users found that their devices crashed when using the themes, specifically surreal, with beta versions of OS 4.5).
Does anyone know if these themes, specifically surreal, are now compatible with the official releases of OS 4.5? I would love to install the surreal theme but don't want to brick my 8320...

Has anyone reported any issues with the upgrade? I unfortuantly got a replacment phone and before I was able to activate it I updated the software. Now when people call me they hear this feedback, not sure if its the phone or the software.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  • X1 Carbon (3443CTO) start up blank screen and no activities after BIOS ACHI to Compatibility

    Hi everyone,
    I have a X1 Carbon 3443CTO and it's running fine.
Last night everything was ok and I went into the BIOS and changed AHCI to compatibility (don't ask me why, I was doing some testing), then I went "Exit and Save Changes" (at the last page of BIOS). As soon as I press Enter the screen freezed there (as opposed to reboot)
Since it hangs there I hold the power button and it shutdown.
Then I power it up again, but now, here is the problem:
    1) The computer turns ON, keyboard backlight flash on for a second (normal)
    2) Screen stays blank (no, it's not the backlight faulty)
    3) power light turns ON (normal)
    4) no sign of activities pressing any buttons, no beep sound
I am not sure what the problem is but it feels it's due to BIOS setting I did that caused the problem. Would someone please help me to resolve this (urgent)?
    Many thanks!!!
    John
