T400: auto reboot after poweroff

A confused problem occurs on my T400.
It automatic reboots after my t400 power off whatever I shut down by winos or I keep pressing the power button for a few seconds. I have updated BIOS to new latest version. I look up many web pages, but I couldn’t find out a way to fix it. Maybe my t400’s motherboard has damaged. Someone can tell me what problem has occurred on my t400.

Currently i have no new ideas what it could be, but i'll check, if i can find something. another thing about the "reboot" i mentioned before: it may be the automatic reboot from windows, because i find the thinkpad t400 sometimes looks like it is shutdown, although it's rebooting, just had the experience that i wanted to reboot and just thought for a few seconds "ok, is it now shutdown or rebooting?!?", because ALL status leds were off, just as you mentioned, and then the lights turned on again and it did the wanted reboot... don't want to offend, but i think it might be confusing in realizing that it's rebooting instead of "suddenly turning on again".
Did you look into the logs of windows, if there was an error or something like that while shutting down?
I just thought about if there's a bios option for always on on after ac power loss... i recently had some trouble with an other pc, which didn't shutdown and just went on and on again, because it seemed the bios interpreted the shut down as ac power loss... just an idea.

  • Auto-reboot after 'installing' apps/upgrades to find after reboot app/upgrade HASN'T been installed..

Received my blackberry curve 9360 back from repair today, and due to the nature of the fault with my phone I was sent another device. Everything started up and was working fine, setup worked great and I upgraded to 7.1 and it was all fine. Then I went onto App World and downloaded the latest version which worked. However when I came to trying to download some apps and upgrades for instance the latest blackberry messenger upgrade, the installation would progress until it was complete and upon the installation bar reaching the end my device would reboot. After the reboot I find that the upgrade hasn't been performed and that it was never installed.. This keeps happening over and over again.. How can i fix this? it's incredibly frustrating as I can't upgrade or install any applications!
Thanks to anyone who can help!

    Hey ChrisWatkins93,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
How much free memory is on the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 smartphone?  Go to Options>Status to find this information.
To determine if this a operating system issue, I suggest following all the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320
Then test out BlackBerry App World™ afterwards to see if the issue is resolved.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Xserve - Auto Reboot after power loss

I have an Xserve (All updated) in a server farm. Recently the farm lost power, someone screwed something up. The net result was the server lost power. When the power was restored shortly thereafter the Xserve DID NOT reboot automatically, as I expected it would. Once the power button was pressed, everything booted fine.
SYSTEM PREFERENCES/ ENERGY SAVER/ are set to RESTART AUTOMATICALLY AFTER A POWER FAILURE.
Why did this not reboot when the power was restored?
Is there another, more reliable way to ensure this works properly, Firmware Settings?
    TIA

I am thinking maybe the power was still off when the Xserve wanted to restart?

  • Disable Auto-Reboot after Zen For Desktop 6.5Sp1 Install

    Hello everyone...
I am trying to automate the installation of about five applications. My
problem is that two of them want to automatically restart the computer
once the install is done and the ZfdAgent651 is one of the culprits.
Does anyone know how I can bypass the auto-restart of the Zen Works
install. I have tried the MSI command line switches, but cannot find one.
    Any help would be great.

You can do this with a MSI property,
THis page explains this in detail
    http://www.appdeploy.com/tips/detail.asp?id=27
The property would either be added as a command line switch or as a MSI
    property in your application object

  • TS3274 iPad 2 Auto-rebooting continuously after OS update to iOS 7

My iPad 2 is auto-rebooting continuously after OS update to iOS 7 . After every reboot , it is waking up for around 20 seconds and then rebooting again with apple logo coming on the black screen . I tried switch-off/on but the problem is still there . Please tell what to do .
PS : The iOS update was completed successfully . The General>Software-Updates shows "up to date iOS 7" .

I somehow managed to restore the ipad within 20 seconds time . I erased all settings and data by General>Reset>Erase-All-Settings-And-Data (simply reset settings did not work) . Make sure you have backup of your data (on iCloud or iTunes) before doing the previous step . Thank god , now it is working fine . *** Apple !!

  • Systemctl poweroff reboots system after poweroff

When I issue the command to poweroff the system
    systemctl poweroff
the system seems to poweroff fine; after everything turns off including the powerbutton light, one or two seconds later, the system starts up again.
I don't know where to start debugging this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

I've noticed that my laptop doesn't reboot after I powerdown on battery; however, when I'm on AC power, it will reboot about 2 seconds after the laptop has turned off.

  • Thinkpad T400 reboot after post (right before boot)

After update bios to 2.03 i noticed, that sometimes my thinkpad reboots after post (right after system booting). First I ignored this issue, because i thought it's caused by vista cd in drive, so i was removing it and everything seemd to be fine. But now i know that this is compleatly cd-independed. It happens in almost every second boot, and is independed on boot priority or boot media (cd, usb, hdd). I tried to downgrade bios to 1.20 and 1.23, but it still happening.
If anyone know what is going on, please let me know. I'm little stressed.
I noticed one more think. After change to "diagnostic boot" in bios, after reboot I hear beep, which is clearly longer, than when reboot not occurs.
Message Edited by lucks on 03-02-2009 02:10 AM

This is still happening... but I think I've noticed some things.
I think what the problem is, and I'm sure this'll sound retarded, is Arch is restarting "too quickly". I say this because there are some times when reboot works properly. When this happens, I notice all of the hardware shut completely down for about a second. I hear sort of a "click" indicating to me that discs have stopped and power is off, like the very last sound you hear when you completely shut down a computer. Instead of a blank screen, I can tell the monitor is completely shut off. After about a second of this, everything comes back on, the Thinkpad splash screen appears, and then goes away and I am taken to GRUB. Everything is peachy.
When the reboot fails to work properly, however, I don't get that total shutdown "feeling".. no click sound, and my screen just goes blank, but not totally off. The Thinkpad splash screen reappears sooner, but this is where I hang and eventually get the error I reported in the original post.
I hope this additional info helps, as this problem is really annoying.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro Retina Blackouts and constant Auto-Reboots

Hey guys, thanks for your time to look this through since you are my last hope before I drive 320 miles to Apple Store in Chicago with 14inches of heavy snow under my car...
Here is the case: it happened today that my computer would automatically go blackout, then auto-reboots itself. It happened multiple times that I can't do anything on it. And after its auto-reboots, the screen would go black. If I click the volume keys, or power key, I can still hear the sound of them, but the screen would keep black and the computer is actually working. Thus I have to hard-reboot it by pressing the power button for seconds. But even I enter the OS system, after some seconds it just happens again and again, both on the Mac OS Maverick, and my Bootcamp Win7, no matter the power adpater is plugged or not.
The weirdest thing is: I am now connecting the computer to my Viewsonic monitor, and the computer works perfectly: no blackout, no auto-reboots.
I went to the campus authorized Apple retailer, and the techician told me there is nothing he could do since he is not authorized to diagnose the problem since we both thought it is the hardware problem(on both systems.)
I have tried to reset my PRAM and SMC but none of them works. I haven't found anyone who has the same problem online, and thought my experience might helps someone who has it. And I hope we can figure it out before I drive to Chicago in such a horrible weather...
Thank you so much for your concern and help!

  • Solaris 8 in ultra 2 got panic and auto reboot when install Oracle software

    Dear all,
I installed Solaris 8 by selecting 'Entire Solaris Software Group' and select 32 bit support only in an old ultra II machine. Then I tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 in the same machine but machine always got panic and started auto reboot when Oracle installed about 17% or 20% or even 70% (I tried install the minimum of Oracle).
What is the problem? Anyone can help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vicky

I think you need to check the parameters like SHMMAX etc in /etc/system file as recommanded by oracle if not already added you need to add them .Oracle manuals have a list of these parameters and don't forget to reboot and boot with boot -r after adding these parameters.
Make sure you have sufficient memory or some patch recommanded by Oracle .

  • Problem with my Bluetooth resulting in auto rebooting.

I am having a problem with my bluetooth ever since I bought XPERIA mini st15i. The first time it occured, I took it to the customer care, they solved the problem. The problem did occur again after 2 weeks. So, I again took it to Service. They resolved it again. This problem has occured about 8 times. Ever since I tranfer some files through bluetooth from gallery or file explorer, the phone restatrs again and again. It shows the Xperia logo and then agin, it auto reboots until the battery dies off. I updated the phone yesterday and the problem is occuring today again. My warranty period is over,  so what can I do? In the warranty period, they changed my hardware but still the problem persists.
I think it's some kind of bluetooth bug. Can it be fixed?

  • No auto-reboot with WSUS

    Hi all
We're currently trying to set up a WSUS in our firm, to make updating servers easier and less of a time-wasting work.
The goal would be, for the servers to automatically install the updates and then reboot, so a collegue or me only have to check in the WSUS to see wheter all updates were applied.
    Now to the Problem:
Our WSUS is currently up and running and some (not all) servers in the network will, once approved, download and install the updates with the shedule. But they won't neither automatically reboot, nor directly ask me for a reboot after they're done. I either
can wait a long time or go to setting -> windows update and press on restart now.
The log is from the time it started the install, to the last entry it had when I opened it.
The last entry is also what i think is the problem, but I couldn't find a solutions with googling the error, so here I am.

I hope someone can help me with this issue.
    Kind Regard dumdidu

Thanks for the reply, but I already proposed this and it isn't really an option. The goal is to get a comlete oversight with WSUS with as less inputs as possible.
But maybe you can riddle me this column from the log:

  • Oracle VM 3.1 Server automatically reboots after - stopping it

When I try to stop my OVM 3.1 server, using shutdown, or init 0 the server stops, but automatically boots again....
Anyone run into the same problem?
    Thanks for all your suggestions

The OVM server? Yes OVM Server :)
I've not seen this before. It could be that the hardware doesn't support the poweroff signal from the OS. Although I'm not sure if it is that much of an issue, as you rarely turn off / on the OVM servers themselves. You can easily power it off if it does a reset not a poweroff. The reboots after "init 0" disappeared once after I added a third NIC to my box, and dedicated it for virtual machines
ie, my Windows 7 box, on which I setup the entire VM infrastructure using VirtualBox has 3 NICs. Two for the VM Server, and the third one for the VM Manager.
The second NIC with VM Server configured to handle the traffic from Virtual Machines, isolating the 1st NIC for all other VM Server traffic. No more rebooting with VM Server and always shuts down with a "init 0"
Hope this info is useful for few others out there

Adding something I missed with last post
Following sequence is always used to shutdown the VM Server as my setup has NFS shares setup from VM Manager server itself
    1. Shutdown VM Server first (Stops all heartbeats etc gracefully)
    2. Stop OVMM service on VM Manager server
    3. Shutdown VM Manager Server
