T400 Card Reader?

The order form calls it a 4 in 1 card reader for the PC Card slot, but it seems like it only takes SD cards.
Does anyone know the story on this?
Thanks.

  • Windows 7 64-bit: Switchable graphics and Ricoh card reader problem

    Hi guys,
Two problems with my laptop. I'm using a T400, previously installed with Windows Vista Business 32-bit.
Switchable graphics worked well until I formatted and installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (I got the RTM through MSDNAA). Now, Windows can only detect either the discrete graphics or integrated graphics at one time. When the BIOS was set to switchable graphics and enabling the detection of switchable graphics on Windows, it could only detect the Intel integrated graphics. When I try to switch to High Performance graphics through the Lenovo power manager, the screen flashes once, and the ATi graphics card appears on the device manager with the code 10 error (cannot start device). Also, compared to this image, my power manager window that opens with left-click does not have battery stretch and switchable graphics options. I have to right-click to switch my graphics.
After some tinkering, I managed to activate the graphics card through the BIOS by switching it to discrete graphics only and disabling switchable graphics detection by Windows. Now the device manager shows the ATi card only, the Intel integrated graphics is gone. I understand that it should show both display adapters in the device driver when the ATi card is active: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70495.html#g4
The second problem is with the Ricoh card reader. I managed to install the drivers properly, but the device shows up with a code 12 error (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use) in the device manager. That error appears on 6 items in the device manager:
    Ricoh Memory Stick controller
    Ricoh SD/MMC Host controller
    Ricoh xD-Picture card controller
Ricoh 1394 OHCI Compliant host controller
Ricoh R/RL/5C476(II) or Compatible CardBus controller
SDA Standard Compliant SD host controller
Additionally, 6 error messages appear during every boot up, which I think is related to these 6 devices:
    ERROR
Resource Conflict - PCI in slot 07
    Bus:15, Device:00, Function: 00 (it ranges from function 00  to 05)
AND disabling the device through device manager results in a BSOD.
I've seen some people post about the Ricoh problem, but didn't have any resolution (at least for those who had the boot up error message too). The switchable graphics problem seems quite common too but in my case it seems like it is working fine EXCEPT for the fact that only one graphics adapter can appear on the device manager at one time and I can't do switching at all. Anyone know if I can somehow solve this? Sorry for the wall of text and two-problems-in-one. I put them together because I don't know if one problem is affecting the other as both problems appeared at around the same time.

As far as the graphics goes it's well accpeted the only way at present to switch is though the bios manually. There is currently no drivers that enable users to switch from within Win7. Know it's a pain but will just have to wait.

  • T430s SDHC card reader not working

Hi, I recently bought a T430s and when I tried to insert a SD card it did not show up in my computer. I've tried 3 different SD cards the sizes are16 gb, 32 gb and 2 gb and neither of them shows up, to make sure the problem is not in the SD card I tried using the SD cards in 2 cameras and 2 other laptops. In all those devices the cards works.
I have tried installing these drivers from this thread https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/New-T430s-4-in-1-express-card-SD-reader-mi... but it did not work.
I also tried following the instructions in this thread http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T430s-card-reader-cannot-read-16-GB-SDHC-ca... but that did not help either.
According to the device manager the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working correctly. The Ricoh SD Disk Device is also working correctly.
Whenever I insert the SD card the Sound for a new device plays and when i remove the SD card the removal sound plays. How can I fix this? I'm going away for 7 weeks with my laptop so I need to fix it ASAP and I dont have time to send the laptop to Lenovo.
    EDIT:
I uninstalled Ricoh Media driver and now 1 of the cards show up but Windows complains about that it needs to be formatted, but the size is 0 so that doesn't work either. Tried installing the driver again and now they show up in the device manager again and proudly says that they are working but the SD card still doesn't show up so I can read the files on it.
    EDIT 2:
If I go into the device manager and forcibly update the the Ricoh SD Disk Device then it says:
    Disc: Disc 1
    Type: Removable
    Status: Online
    Partitiontype: MBR (Master Boot Record)
    Capacity: 15807 MB
    Non-allocated space: 0 MB
    Allocated space: 0 MB
For the 32 gb SD card everything is the same but instead it says "Capacity: 30828 MB".
    EDIT 3:
When the SD card is inserted a storage device pops up in the device manager. The name of the device is just "Unknown device" and the status is that it can't find any installed drivers for the device.

I'm experiencing a similar situation with my 1-year old T430s. The built-in card reader was working fine until recently when it stopped working.
Now the built-in SD card reader doesn't recognize SD cards that are recognized in external USB adapters.
Device Manager shows Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Controller when an SD card is inserted into the card reader but neither Windows Computer Management/Disk Management nor Windows Explorer show the drive. Device Manager indicates that the driver is up-to-date (v6.10.10.32 25May11.)
When I put the same SD cards into an external USB adapter they're recognized by Windows, assigned a drive letter and visible to Windows Explorer as well as other applications.
Do I have a defective card reader?

  • 7-in-1 card reader not working - BIOS problem??

A few weeks ago I updated the BIOS in my T400 [which caused boot problems which were resolved simply by disconnecting the clock battery for a fe minute].
Now the 7-in-1 card reader does not work.  I am not sure if this is because of the BIOS change because this is the first time iI tried to use it.
It does not show up in Device Manager and absolutely nothing happens when a card is inserted.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
      --  Julian

    Hej and welcome to here!
I think the problem is Windows would like to boot from the card reader. But it can't of course.
Enter BIOS and take away the line "Boot other devices" or similar, from the Boot order list.
To speed up the starting a tiny bit, you could have only the hard disk as boot option, but that is up to you.

  • Z61m - Card Reader

I installed Windows 7 and my card reader is not detecting memory cards when I insert them. Please help!!

    Hi robbyrutz,
    Welcome to the forum!
You need to install driver for the card reader, Vista driver will work under Win 7:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-64278.html#card
Subsequently install this for SDHC support:- ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35001-35500/sp35308.exe
See following thread if you feel confused:- http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?p=541326#p541326

  • CS2 won't open files from card reader

Suddenly CS2 on my eMac will not open files imported from CF card reader. I have tried two different card readers and three different CF cards with the same result:
"Could not complete your request because of on unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."
Tried to open JPEG's and Raw files with same error message.
Elements 4.0 gives same message. Bridge will display icon only (JPEG or NEF) but will not display image. Both CS2 and Elements 4.0 will open old stored files without problem.
Replaced the Adobe/Unit Types file, but no help. There is no CD/DVD in the drive.
The images on the CF cards are not damaged. I know this since they will open in CS2/Elements on my lap top (Mac Book).
The files will open in Preview if I try Preview first. However, if I try to open them in Photoshop first and then in Preview, I get an error message from Preview also.
    What have I done now?!?

    "It's a eMac 17 inch with 1.7 Ghz."
There were no eMacs made with 1.7GHz processors.
That may seem like I'm just being picky for the heck of it, but when it comes to computing and troubleshooting and asking questions, the details
    matter
. In this case, probably not so much. But being sloppy about details is a bad habit to get into.

  • How much would it be to get the sim card reader fixed

i would like to know how much the new sim card reader is.

    $7Billion dollars.
Or simply clarify the issue the device is actually having.
Apple does not repair devices, they offer Out of Warranty replacements for $199 (4S) or $149 (older models) in the US.

  • Flex 14 SD card reader not working with larger cards on Windows 8.1

The card reader in my Flex 14 is behaving very oddly. When I insert a 16GB SDHC card it makes the 'USB inserted' noise and the card shows up under device manager but I can't access it through file explorer. The card reader works fine with smaller SD cards that I have. I tried the card in another, Win7 laptop and it worked fine.
I see a number of other people are having a similar problem and I have followed all of the troubleshooting advice I can find, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
This is what I have tried:
    1. Leaving the card in the camera and attaching the camera via USB cable to the laptop: same result, noise, but can't access the card.
    2. Trying to reassign the drive letter through storage controller: it shows the card but if you right click it to assign it a drive letter it says the 'file is missing'.
    3. Downloaded the Win8.1 x64 driver from Lenovo website and installed. This stopped the card being recognised at all.
    4. Installed the Win8 xc4 driver: this got me back to the noise but no action stage.
    5. Updated Windows.
    6. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times both with the card inserted and without it and with restarting the computer after unistall and after reinstall.
    7. Ran Ubunutu from a live USB: This allowed me to see the card and copy its contents to the laptop's HDD.
So it seems to be some incompatibility between the Lenovo drivers and Win8.1. Potentially it's to do with the USB drivers rather than the card reader drivers as the result when using the USB cable and the camera was the same as putting the card in the card reader. Is there a way to update these?
Any other troubleshooting steps I could take?
    Thanks.

    What size are the cards?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Media Card Reader does not work on W541 (is O2Micro, not the RealTek)

Can not read an SD card on my W541.  It reads fine on a W530. Reviewed the ReadMe, and tried to find the driver in the WIndows "Device Manager" but no luck.Experimented and found that if I did the following:Brought up Device ManagerUnder "View" menu, chose "Devices by Type" (this should really be in the instructions, although perhaps not necessary).Under "Action" menu, chose "Scan for hardware changes"found that the node labelled "Storage Controller" finally appeared (towards the bottom, just above "Storage Volumes")  There was one entry under the node, that of "ByHubTech/O2Micr Integrated MMC/SD controller".  The icon preceding this entry had a yellow triangle, so at least the system detected something was wrong. Right clicked on the entry and chose "Properties" and resulting dialog had the following text in the "Device Status" area (on the "General" tab): This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use.
    (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. I have no idea what "resources" are being referred to in the message (a case of "I've got a secret"?), so it is a little hard for me to understand what other devices I might want to free up. Bios is version 2.20The "BayHubTEch/O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller" driver version is 2.2.2.1057 (which is the latest as of 6/26/2015).Runnin Win 7 Enterprise + SP1, 32GB RAM.

    Hello,
I don't have a W541 myself, but here are a few things to check, in no particular order:
Have you checked with your IT department?  Maybe they set a poilicy to disable the card reader.
Is the card reader correctly enabled in the UEFI firmware?
Have you run ThinkVantage System Update and Microsoft Update to confirm all of the various Lenovo and Microsoft updates are installed?
Do you still have the OS image the device originally shipped with?  If so, does the card reader work under that?
    Regards,
    Aryeh Goretsky

  • Why does my card reader not work on my iPad since upgrade?

I use my iPad mini to download photos from my camera when I'm on the road. In the summer I bought the "3 in 1 Card Reader Adapter Cable Camera Connection Kit, 3 Port Card Reader for iPad 4 and iPad Mini by Eurekka" and it worked wonderfully. I was able to download photos (jpg and RAW) directly to the iPad and off the camera, and once home it was a flawless upload to my iMac.
However, once I upgraded to iOS 7 last week I get a message saying the device is not supported. What gives? Will this be fixed or will Apple products only accept Apple accessories from now on?

No but I was just trying to find a way in to your help desk. I didn't find
your web page very helpful in this regard.

  • SanDisk USB 3.0 Card Reader does not work with OSX Mavericks.

Since updating to OSX Mavericks (10.9) My  USB 3.0 SanDisk "ImageMate All-in-One" Card Reader has begun to fail.
It all seems to work proper at first. The memory card shows up in finder and I'm able to browse the files. But when I try to transfer any files it un-mounts from finder and only transfers the first file.
This does not happen under previous OSX versions. I have tried on other computers since, so the card reader is fine.
My USB 2.0 card reader saved my life this time. It works totally fine.
Is this a known problem? Are you guys working on it?

  • Tecra 9000: SD card reader will not work with XP

I have made some progress with this subject, it seems that Cardbus devices cannot share IRQs, although the main issue is that the memory address FFDFB200-FFDFB3FF is shared by both the SD card controller and the SD Card Memory Device. Unless a way to modify the registry can be found to resolve this memory conflict, the simple answer is that the SD card reader won't work under XP.
I think this would take some major surgery of the registry or re-writing of the drivers to move the memory address used by the SD card device, I am still working on this for now.
Can someone from Toshiba Support or Toshiba Marketing please explain to me why my Tecra T9100 has a sticker with "Designed for Windows XP and Windows 2000" on it, when Toshiba don't fully support XP on the 9000 series?
    David
    [Edited by: admin]

    Hi David
Unfortunately, I dont think that you will find here someone from Toshiba marketing or other departments. This is ONLY a user to user forum.
What you say is simply NOT true.
The Tecra 9000 was delivered with 3 different OS.
It was delivered with Windows XP Pro, W2k and Win98. You can order all this Toshiba images from the Toshiba service partner. Therefore Tecra 9000 does support Windows XP!
Tecra 9100 was delivered with Windows XP and Windows 2000 and supports also Windows XP!
Of course there are different models with different hardware configuration but all supports WinXP.
I dont know why you get this error message or why you cannot use the SD card but I assume you dont use the Toshiba image. Therefore you have installed your OS not correctly. Because youre a newbie you dont know that the whole Toshiba driver installation must be done in the right order and all the Microsoft QFEs must be also installed.
As you see you have to pay attention to many important things if you want to install the OS manually.
    Have a nice day

  • Camera connective kit does not work with card reader

Can I only use my USB camer connective kit with my camera and not a card reader?

Which card reader? Are you using an SD card in it or some other form factor?
As long as you're targeting an SD card with photos or movies, it should work same as connecting to a camera....but in that case, there is really no need since the camera kit includes an SD reader.
