T400 com4 modem?

My laptop shows the above modem in the hardware list.
How do I use the modem?
Where do I connect my phone line to the computer/modem?
My older laptop had a dialup connector, but this one doesn't.
PS: I tried a StarTech USB fax modem, but it sent my computer into never, never land and I had to return it.

  • T400 modem keeps disconnecting

We have a few users that occasionally use dial-up.  The older laptops work fine (T60 and T40 series) but the T400 keeps disconnecting.  We have tried re-installing the driver but still have the issue - has anyone else seen this?  Any ideas to resolve?
    Thanks

Maybe but not for me. I spent £120 on a modem so I can get faster speed as I used to have under 3MB, so don't want to just go back to have old speed.
It was stable for ages so don't know why this started to happen.
I've installed Routerstats but it don't seem to work with the Bipac 7800N as you can see by the picture it won't find the status only the firmware etc.

  • Problem with T400 and external monitor (1920x1200 resolution)

    Hi there
    My laptop:
ThinkPad T400 2767-C99* (graphics is: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 256MB / X4500MHD (Switchable Graphics)), OS is WinXP
I just installed the newest video driver from the lenovo page (which also installs "ATI catalyst")
    Externale Monitor:
I just bought a Samsung SyncMaster 2443FW, 24" TFT monitor with maximum resolution 1920x1200
    Problem:
Monitor works great with my newer T400s and my old Acer laptop. However, with my T400 (described above), I can't make the monitor use the 1920x1200 resolution. However, all the other resolutions look ugly so I need it to work with 1920x120
    - If i change the resolution by rightclicking on the Windows XP desktop (and then properties=>settings) and set the screen resolution there to 1920x1200, then my monitor only used a lower resoltion (1440x900) and I get a scrolling effect as I move my pointer across the screen
    - if I use ATI catalyst software to set the resolution, I can only chose smaller resolutions (it does no go up to 1920x1200)
    Questions
Is that a hardware (maybe the graphic card does not support 1920x1200) or a software problem (maybe some problem with the driver) or just a matter of setting?
    What can I do?
Help would be very much appreaciated!

I have already installed the newsest drivers from Lenovo. I don't really see why I should install a non-official driver. I am convinced that it must work somehow with the official driver.
    Kind regards
there are plenty of instances where the official driver have glitches... just look around the forum to find instances of which.... while official drivers maybe better in most instances, there are always the odd case where it doesn't work as well as it should. If they perfectly out of box, then there would never need to be multiple revisions and updates.

  • How to turn off LED near modem connector

T500 has an amazingly bright green LED on the left side between the modem port and the DVD drive. It is on all the time, from what I can tell. Any way to turn it off - find it very annoying...

I have a problem. I want to upgrade my Lenovo T400 2768-BQ4 to a WiMAX and a Wireless USB. I want to know everything else about my specific computer too. Can you help me here?

    Hello and welcome,
You may find this interesting/helpful:  SUPPORT -> Quick Path "2768-BQ4":

Among other things the HMM lists the cards that will pass the BIOS whitelist (that will prevent booting if a card isn't listed) and the required FRU numbers.  A card must be of the right model (for example Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350) and have the Lenovo FRU (43Y6533 for this example).  Please note that I'm reading this from the manual - I have no way to personally verify these numbers.   I don't know if your existing antenna assembly will work with this or other wimax cards.  Please do your homework

  • T400 6474-P1U not listed on support page

I have another thread in the ThinkVantage forum pertaining to System Update specifically, but it appears that issue might actually be related to something bigger.
Doing a search for my T400's specific model number (6474-P1U) on Lenovo's support page turns up no results. The only T400 6474 models with the P prefix on the list are P4G, P8C, P8Q, and P8Y.
Is this an error on Lenovo's part or have they dropped support for the P1U?

WWAN option means that it has the SIM card reader and WWAN antennas fitted but there is no WWAN card fitted, so that is why the Mobile Broadband Unit is not being found!

  • Windows 7 and T400

    Hey Everyone,
Just got a chance to install Windows 7 beta x64 on a T400 7417-CTO.   I must say I'm pretty impressed.
    Some notes on the intstall.
    1. No need to F6 the ahci drivers for the hard drive during install.
    2. Systems boots fast.  Total time from power on button to loading home page in IE - 53 seconds.
    3. OS has drivers for most of the hardware after initial install.
    4. I was unable to install the intel video drivers to get the intel control center, but the video card drivers are working.
    5. When installing chipset drivers setup reports the wrong os and won't install, but again everything is working so far
    6. No drivers for Intel AMT
    7. Video appears to be smooth and DirectX 11 works with the Intel GMA chipset.
    8. I like the Lenovo Power manger gadget ( Our office didn't touch Vista so this is new to me )
    9. It could just be me but the LED display looks 100x better than Windows XP.
Overall the experience is great.  I haven't had a opportunity to install our standard apps, but so far I'm happy with the OS.  I'll update this post as I get some more time under my belt with Windows 7.

After installing Windows 7 32 bit on my T400, I had several issues in device manager.  I was able to get most things sorted though.  By and large the Vista drivers from the Lenovo site work.  I tried the drivers first with TVSU but not everything got installed.  Then I reinstalled the OS and did manual installs of the drivers beginning with the Intel Chipset driver.  I had to install this using Compatibility mode, as mentioned above, to get it to work.  This was the story for the Intel AMT driver also.  The modem driver would not install using the setup from the top level directory that the driver unpacked to, but using the setup from the Vista 32 directory worked.  After installing the audio driver I still had no sound.  I tried the WIndows 7 "troubleshooting" fixture and that fixed it.  Apparently the Conexant device was not set as the default.  Sound worked immediately after that.  So try compatibility mode if the drivers don't work - (right click on the setup file and choose the compatibility troubleshooting option (I think its called).  As far as non Lenovo drivers, I ended up using the Authentec Fingerprint beta Windows 7 driver that the Windows 7 Action Center pointed me too.  I have not checked yet whether the Lenovo Fingerprint utility will work with this driver however, and Authentec offers their own utility as part of the install.
I also used TVSU to install the Vista registry patches (though stayed away from the Vista Updates), Power Manager and keyboard customizer, and that all worked ok.  Looks great so far.  I've not used Vista, only XP, but WIndows 7 seems to have potential and be less resource intensive, which is great.
    Cheers.

  • 6610, DKU-5 and WIN XP Pro/SP2 - modem in use erro...

Toshiba Satellite A100, first time installation of PC-Suite 6.81.13.0
First question - The connection between my laptop and phone is found by Nokia Connection Manager under 'Serial Cable' on com4. Is this a problem given the connection is by USB?
Second - OTA finds com4 but comes up with "Error code 633: the modem is already in use or is not configured properly".
What do I need to look at to resolve this problem?
    Cliffo from Australia

YOu don't need to use the get connected wizard everytime you connect, only once, after the first connection you are automatically connected when you connect the cable.
(in fact, you really don't need to use the get connected wizard with cable even in the first connection, because windows will pick up the phone via the cable and install the necessary drivers anyhow, the wizard is there just to help first time users to find the way how to handle the connection.
(just a note, with Bluetooth you need to make the connection between phone and PC Suite once with get Connected Wizard, but not after that even with Bluetooth)
Anyways, if you have a uncertain outcome each time you connect you:
    - most likely have a non-Nokia cable that is bad quality, there are plenty to duff cable out there "in ebays"
    - or the mechanical connection between the phone and cable is uncertain

  • No bluetooth modem in onetouch access

    Hi,
I've got a problem in my installation of pc suite.
Everything works well. My 6630 is connected automatically in bluetooth using my WIDCOMM stack. I can tranfer files and install application. My problem happens when I try to launch ONE TOUCH ACCESS to connect to Internet.
I can connect using the USB cable but if I try to configure the bluetooth connection, there is no modem in the list.
I don't understand why does bluetooth runs well in PC SUITE but not in ONETOUCH ACCESS.
I've can see two bluetooth modems in My Computer :
    Modem bluetooth in COM5
    Nokia 6630 bluetooth in COM4
It appears that I've two bluetooth stacks installed :
    WIDCOMM stack
    Microsoft stack
I can't connect with Microsoft's one because i'm told that
"Impossible to use this kind of connection. Verify that are avaible the hardwares, the softwares and the drivers needed."
What must I do to solve this problem ?
    Thanks a lot

  • [HELP] Asha 210 - GSM Modem Mode

    Dear all,
In Win7 (a newly installed win7), after installing "Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver", I am able to see the Nokia Asha 210 appears as a com port.
I connect to that com port using HyperTrm.exe (copied from WinXp). Connect using 9600 8N1.
When I type "AT&V" The terminal just hang for approximately 30sec to 1min before return, and shows no results.
May I know what I can do to enable this modem mode again?
It used to work before this.
    TIA.
    Kwan

    I found the issue.
In Device Manager it shows that Asha 210 is connected to COM3, but it actual fact I can only get response from COM4.
Something wrong with the Asha driver.

  • T400s and T500 experiencing slow response time accessing certain websites from within our network

Hello there.... we have some Lenovo T400s running Windows 7 and T500 running WinXP Pro that are experiencing slow response time when trying to access certain website from within our company network (particularly this global crossing Web meeting, google maps): https://core1.callinfo.com/interface/guest.jsp?host=globalcrossing ... it takes 10-15 minutes before it loads the meeting login screen and same response time for google maps to respond as well... the thing is, other Lenovo T400s, T61, and other HP desktop machines that are connected to the same network in our company does not experience this slow response time... HOWEVER, when these problematic T400s / T500 laptops are connected to external network (e.g. home DSL, hotel DSL/Cable modem) the problem goes away.   Our NETWORK ran tests to monitor traffic to the websites from our company's network but seem to connect just fine... just wondering if anybody out there experienced the same problem and know of a solution.  By the way, the two newer T400s that are experiencing the slow response time have the following BIOS version 1.11 (6HET26WW) and BIOS version 1.09 (6HET24WW).  Then a T400s that is also connected to the same network but not experiencing the problem has a BIOS version of 1.02 (6HET17WW - running WinXP Pro).   NOTE: We also connected a Linksys USB wireless adapter to connect to our wireless network in the company but same problem - and problem occurs even when connected via network cable.  Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Network World posted an article about a free response time monitoring tool that would be worth checking out

  • T400 screen flashes then goes black

As the thread title says, my lenovo t400's screen recently started flashing. It wasn't that bad at first but it increased in frequency and started to be very annoying. I noticed changing from battery to cable would temporarily stop it, also turning down the brightness helped.
However the problem started getting worse and now when I am forced to have it on the lowest brightness settings. If I turn it up it starts flashing erratic and then the screen turns off. The system itself keeps working though and if I turn the laptop off or in sleep mode and then turn it on again the screen "works" again (still with flashing). Ofcourse if I left the brightness above its lowest level it will instantly go black again.
Also most likely related, half of the screen (left side) has taken on an "redish" collor.
What could be the problem and is it something I can fix myself?

    naraga wrote:
On the back it says type: 6474-B84. I assume you mean that?
And yes if I were to shine on the screen with a flashlight I can see the content.
Correct, these are the original specs of the machine:

I can think of three possibleculprits, LCD cable defective, inverter defective or LCD panel's backlight  defective. The cable and the inverter will be cheaper to replace, the panel will be more pricey I guess, (I don't know the current LCD panel prices).
T400's came with standard CCFL and LED screens. You need to find out which one you have. You can try the part lookups page from Lenovo and follow the instructions here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_CH/product-and-parts/partsLookup.page?
(You need the machine type and your serial number, please don't post the serial number here in the forum)
P.S.: If you have a LED screen cluprits could be the cable or the panel, no inverters there AFAIK)

  • Sudden Reboots on Thinkpad T400

    Hi All,
Since some time I'm having trouble on my Lenovo T400 running Arch. The device is equipped with two video cards (intel and ati onboard, when docked an external ati video card is used)

A Memtest was showing no errors.
Temperature seems always to be ok. I could compute prime-numbers for two hours without any problems.

Any Ideas how to stop the reboots?
Best Regards and thanks for your help.

I'm a systemd user since I had my fresh Arch install nearly a week ago (very glad about my choice btw). Everything else works out of the box (except for suspending...but thats the fault of the intel driver, which is a known bug for my T400).  As Šaran advised I looked in my logind.conf. Everything is fine as you showed. Still nothing. The button module is also loaded. Still nothing.
    My journal said:
Oct 22 22:15:59 Calenthe kernel: input: Power Button as /devices/LNXSYSTM:0...t3
Oct 22 22:15:59 Calenthe kernel: ACPI: Power Button [PWRF]
So he sees it...looks like my laptop is not blind but stupid.
edit. as ANOKNUSA said this is not just a problem with my configuration only. This may be a bug. The problem is whose fault is that. Is it Acpi's or systemd's or what...

  • T400 Vista 64bit cant see second monitor in port replicator

I installed Vista Business 64bit on my machine that came with 32bit Vista.  I was able to download all the drivers.  Everything works except it will not see my second dislpay on the port replicator. It sees the VGA display but not the DVI one.
Although the ATI software installed , I cannot use the control center.  It says Ati catalyst control center cannot be started becuase the current active GPU is not supported.
Tried calling support and they wont help me becuase the machine came with 32.
If I go in through thw windows display setup it doesn't see the second monitor.  This all worked with it was 32 bit vista.
Anyone know of any way around this without going back to Vista 32?
