T400 is rebooted unexpectedly

Hello there,
I have a problem with T400 that the laptop is rebooted unexpectedly when I try to logon Windows(at GINA). It's rarely happened. Once it's happened. It become I can not use my Windows account with a message like "You can not use this computer with this account, Please use other computer". It's in Japanese so It will not be properly translated.
After several hours, I can use the Windows account.
Before shutdown PC manually, USB memory(ReadyBoost) was connected to the laptop. But, I'm not turned on readyboost on USB memory.Anyway I guess It might be a caused.
My environment is below;
T400
BIOS:7UET93WW(ver. 3.23)
Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN(Driver ver.14.2.0.10)
TPM 1.2
Windows 7 Professional(Japanese) SP1 + latest hotfixes
CSS 8.3
Does someone know about this problem? Please help me.
Sincerely,

hey sbux0007,
the T400 of yours, does it have one user account or 2 and is it being use in an office network? I normally stumble across >> "You can not use this computer with this account, Please use other computer" .. when it is a system that has two user accounts and when the computer is set to use with a network.
since this rarely happens it is hard to pinpoint what is causing this. what i suggest would be that you keep an eye and make notes of what programs that you were using before the sudden reboot.

  • Windows 2008R2 SP1- No memory dump file is capturing when server is getting rebooted unexpectedly

    Hello,
Windows 2008R2 SP1- No memory dump file is capturing when the server is getting rebooted unexpectedly. Tried allmost all options per the standards, no luck. Can someone help me to fix the issue.
    Thank You

An unexpected reboot would not trigger a memory dump. This one may help if you're trying to generate a dump file.
Windows feature lets you generate a memory dump file by using the keyboard

It occured several times before 11/17 and I have tried to reseat the module before, but the IDSM2 reboot again. The IOS version of supervisor engine is s72033-ps-mz.122-18.SXD5.bin, The IDSM2 software version is 6.0(5)E2. Please help to diagnosis this problem. Shall I upgrade IOS of supervisor engine or IDSM or need RMA?
    Best Regards,
    Jackson Ku

Agreed, this likely needs to have a TAC case opened for an RMA -- especially if a re-seat of the module has already been attempted.  Any time you're seeing the switch cut off power to the module over multiple insertions, that's not a good thing.
I just had this happen to a FWSM last week, and re-seating the module didn't work for me, either.
You can read more about the error message here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_tech_note09186a00801b42bf.shtml
WorkaroundA simple reseat of the module corrects this issue 90 percent of the time. If you reseat the module, it realigns the switch fabric and ensures a firm connection to the backplane.

  • T400: auto reboot after poweroff

A confused problem occurs on my T400.
It automatic reboots after my t400 power off whatever I shut down by winos or I keep pressing the power button for a few seconds. I have updated BIOS to new latest version. I look up many web pages, but I couldn’t find out a way to fix it. Maybe my t400’s motherboard has damaged. Someone can tell me what problem has occurred on my t400.
moderator note: type added to subject line for clarity.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Currently i have no new ideas what it could be, but i'll check, if i can find something. another thing about the "reboot" i mentioned before: it may be the automatic reboot from windows, because i find the thinkpad t400 sometimes looks like it is shutdown, although it's rebooting, just had the experience that i wanted to reboot and just thought for a few seconds "ok, is it now shutdown or rebooting?!?", because ALL status leds were off, just as you mentioned, and then the lights turned on again and it did the wanted reboot... don't want to offend, but i think it might be confusing in realizing that it's rebooting instead of "suddenly turning on again".
Did you look into the logs of windows, if there was an error or something like that while shutting down?
I just thought about if there's a bios option for always on on after ac power loss... i recently had some trouble with an other pc, which didn't shutdown and just went on and on again, because it seemed the bios interpreted the shut down as ac power loss... just an idea.

  • OSX 10.8.5 crashing and rebooting unexpectedly

    Hi everyone,
Recently I've experienced some random crashes and reboots. I first noticed it when playing netflix and thought that was the cause; I tested it a few times and everytime I opened netflix the crash occured. However, I stopped playing netflix for a while and the crash occured again. My second reaction was to asume it was chrome so I did the exact same thing with safari- played netflix and random browing- and it crashed again.
    I appreciate your help.

That panic was not caused by third-party software. If the problem is recurrent, the possibilities are:
A stale or corrupt kernel cache
    A damaged OS X installation
A fault in a peripheral device, if any
    Corrupt non-volatile memory (NVRAM)
An internal hardware fault (including incompatible memory)
An obscure bug in OS X
You may already have ruled out some of these.
Rule out #1 by booting in safe mode and then rebooting as usual. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
You can rule out #2 and #3 by reinstalling the OS and testing with non-essential peripherals disconnected and aftermarket expansion cards removed, if applicable. Sometimes a clean reinstallation (after erasing the startup volume) may solve a problem that isn't solved by reinstalling in place, without erasing.
Corrupt NVRAM, which rarely causes panics, can be ruled out by resetting it.
If your model has user-replaceable memory, and you've upgraded the memory modules, reinstall the original memory and see whether there's any improvement. Be careful not to touch the gold contacts. Clean them with a mild solvent such as rubbing alcohol. Aftermarket memory must exactly match the technical specifications for your model.
The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though generally unreliable, will sometimes detect a fault. A negative test can't be depended on. Run the extended version of the test.
In the category of obscure bugs, reports suggest that FileVault may trigger kernel traps under some unknown conditions. Most, though not all, of these reports seem to involve booting from an aftermarket SSD. If those conditions apply to you, try deactivating FileVault.
Connecting more than one display is another reported trigger for OS X bugs.
If your system is not fully up to date, running Software Update might get you a bug fix.
In rare cases, a malformed network packet from a defective router or other network device can cause panics. Such packets could also be sent deliberately by a skillful attacker. This possibility is something to consider if you run a public server that might be the target of such an attack.
If none of the above applies, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days. There isn't much point in doing this unless you can reproduce the panic, or if you can't, it happens often enough that it's likely to be repeated at the store. Otherwise you may be told that nothing is wrong.
Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you know how to restore, and you have at least  two independent backups.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • 865P Neo - reboots unexpectly

    Hello,
I just bouth a new 865P Neo motherboard and after I installed WIN XP Pro the computer reboots from time to time...for example if I am playing a game or listen music or even when I copy files from a disk partition to another...
    Here is my system:
    865P Neo motherboard
CPU: P4 2,4 Ghz Nortwood FSB 133 Mhz Bus Speed 533Mhz
    Memory: DDR-SDRAM PC2700 256MB (Freq. 167 Mhz FSB:DRAM 4:5 CAS 2.5 RAS to CAS 3 RAS Precharge 3 Cycle time 7)
    HDD: Maxtor 40 GB
    Video: Matrox G450 Dual Head
    Power source: 3.3 V=24 A, 5V=35A, 12V=12A

12A for +12v is only 120~130watts for the system, whereas a P4 with 2.4B GHz CPU will consume about 180watts with RAMs and CD drives + HDDs...
Btw, have you install intel.inf driver yet? Tryi installing and see if it works.

  • New Satelite S75 LapTop reboots unexpectedly/randomly The repair facility cannot correct!

My Satelite continues to reboot without warning.  I have returned it to the repair facility 3 times and the problem persists!  They replaced the hard drive three times and the mother-board the last time.  Problem still not fixed!!??  It hasn't worked properly since purchased.  Are there "lemons" in lap-tops like cars?  I've got one.  How can you get Toshiba to replace this device???  Anyone else ever have such a problem?  Dealing with the repair facility has been plesant and prompt but they cannot fix my problem.  Because I am not very tech savy I have to pay my IT person to backup/reinstall/organize and network my computer every time it goes away!!  I'm NOT happy.

  • My MacBook Air reboots unexpectedly when I download purchased apps or try to update apps.

I have a second MacBook Air that is configured the same and this issue doesn't arise on that one. This problem only arose in the last few days and I'm at a losss to figure out what is causing it.

Try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If that doesn't help, try Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

  • Unexpected Reboot and Kerberos Exception

    Hi Everyone,
This morning, we had quite a few Windows Server 2008 R2 servers reboot unexpectedly and an exception generated for LsaSrv. The event ID was 5000. We tried installing patch 2732595 with no luck as to resolving. What can be done to resolve this?

OK then I would recommend proceeding with these basic troubleshooting steps:
Make sure that you have recent Windows updates installed (To be tested first)
Install latest versions of your drivers, firmware and BIOS
    Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow
    Removal all unused programs
    Do a clean boot: http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/929135/en-us
Do a memory test using memtest86+ and replace the faulty RAM in case of failure detection
If this does not help then try temporary disabling your security software running on the server and check again.

  • Unexpected reboots in Satellite P100 WXP MCE

Satellite P100-342 - PSPA3E 10 months old. From the very beginning the pc reboots unexpectedly during a working session every 5 minutes about. A complete recovery doesn't solve the problem.
The pc has been sent 3 times to the Toshiba technical service: main board, graphic card memory and hard drive has been changed and bios and graphic card soft updated. After repairs things have improve a little bit and reboots occurs about every hour.
No reboot at all when computer is working alone (downloading big files, playing movies etc..) with no user interaction.

    Silas,
    Thanks for your interest.
Applications seem to have nothing to do with the problem. I keep a log of all the actions and applications causing a reboot.
Last week I tried to cause a reboot opening a lot of applications and windows at the same time with no results.
However a simple copy and paste, a window opening, internet browsing... may cause the reboot.
The only thing I know is that the cause is not a virus(100%%) nor a cpu temperature problem (95%)

  • Unwanted et unexpected reboot

My iMac (Intel Core i5 quadricœur 2,7 GHz) bought in october 2011 reboots unexpectedly from time to time.

    Hello,
Have you blown the dust out lately?
Get Temperature Monitor to see if it's heat related...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381/temperature-monitor
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.

  • Unexpected reboot sge2010 48 port

Hi all, I have 2 switch SGE2010 48 ports (not in stack) that reboot unexpectedly every days from a couple of week. Can someone tell me why?? thanks, Francesco

There will be no reset reason for show ver in these switches because they are not IOS.
Be advised, these units are EOL and you will not get any support from Cisco besides (if still under warranty) a replacement to a SG500 series switch.
You can take a look at the RAM and FLASH logs for a possible reason but it probably wont help you much.
