[T400] no sound within Windows 7 on BIOS release v3.01-1.03, but with 2.12-1.01

Hi,
I made an upgrade from Windows XP ti Windows 7 on my T400. Also I updated my BIOS from 2.x to 3.01 and the firmware of the harddrive. Windows 7 is nice, but sound wasn´t working.
I watched several forums and installed dozens of Conexant drivers. The problem was, that Windows said the sound card would work. When I clicked on a mp3 file, the file was actually loaded and player by mediaplayer, but there was no sound out of the speakers (Yes, the speakers were activated to be used...).
Well, now I made a BIOS downgrade to 2.12-1.01 and guess what. After a reboot I now have working sound on the T400. Can´t be I thought. Back to 3.01 and sound vanished again.
Now I´m again with BIOS  2.12-1.01, sound works and I´m happy. I just wanted to inform the rest of you and Lenovo.
Also I have a request. Does anyone have a backup of BIOS 2.16-1.01 and could upload it somewhere? According to Lenovo it has never been release to web.

I know it's not the exact same machine, but i have a T400s running W7 RTM 64bit it had sound for a while, but now it has suddenly stopped playing through the speakers. The sound plays through the headphone all right. Using the smartaudio it shows sound activity but nothing through the speakers anymore. I have tried all the different settings, classic, multistream and through fn-F6 - just no more audio anymore... weird! Guess i will have to wait for all the official drivers, and if they do not remedy the situation, call the machine in for service

Jesper James

  • No sound after Windows 10 free upgrade from WIN7 on G71-340US laptop with IDT CODEC.

After free upgrade from WIN7 to WIN10 my laptop no longer has any sound (with internal or external speakers). I have tried uninstalling IDT driver and allowing Windows 10 to reinstall the driver through scan for HW changes - still no sound. I would appreciate any guidance or fixes for this problem. Thank you.

I am happy to report I now have sound on my G71-340US laptop. After further trial and error troubleshooting I found that there is an app called IDT PC Audio (aka IDT HD Sound) installed on my laptop by HP (OEM) I think. While I'm not exactly sure what this app's function is it appears it is related to activating IDT HD Codec drivers functionality. Somehow I decided to look in Task Manager - Startup and saw this IDT PC Audio listed. I clicked on disable and then a minute later clicked on enable. After I did that, as simple as it appears, I now was able to hear sound both on internal and external speakers. This is the first time I heard any sound since upgrading to WIN10. I have checked it several times by re-booting my laptop and each and every time I now have sound. I'll continue to test this through the week and see if it continues to be OK. Meanwhile, I thought I would share this potential fix (or workaround) with all concerned. Perhaps others will find this useful and provide me your feedback. Keeping my fingers crossed! PS. BTW, if anyone out there knows what IDT PC Audio is by all means share your knowledge. I am curious why this app doesn't appear more often in the forum posts and how it may relate to the WIN10 upgrade. Sorry, but I don't recall what prompted me to look at Task Manager - Startup but I'm glad I did. It's great to hear sound again!

  • UDI Form Blank When Starting Within Windows

I seem to have a strange issue where when I start a UDI form from within a task sequence that starts within Windows (for a refresh scenario) the form loads fine but appears blank.
When I load the form in WinPE it seems to work fine. No errors are shown in the smsts.log file. Not sure what the problem is?

I installed windows 7 on my macbook pro. all is working but lan adaptor and sound od laptop is not working. please help me or send the link where i can download the these drivers.I have lost my resource cd .

If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion, the drivers are downloaded from within Bootcamp Assistant. If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk.
Read the Bootcamp Install Guide for your version of OSx. http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

  • I need a utility that allows OC from within windows

    Hi,
    I have a P6N SLI V2 mobo, E4400, 7600gt, 1gb ddrII 800Mhz running XP pro sp2.
The MSI utility "dual core center" is absolutely useless as it won't let me access any MB parameters (maybe MSI should test their f***ing software before they ship it), anyway I was wondering if any of you know of a good utility which will allow me to OC from within windows.  Thanks.

I'm what you may call a retired OC'er, I used to clock the hell out my systems, back in the day when I had an athlon xp 1800+ cpu.
Now, I don't game as much (or sadly, at all) any more, and the system is powerful enough to keep me happy most of the time.
But sometimes I do want to squeeze some extra juice out of my system, for these times I want a little more, I don't want to be bothered with going into the bios and start stability testings every time I up the FSB by 5Mhz.  I just want a simple interface that lets me do just that.
Gigabyte has a fantastic utility ("EasyTune") just for that, which made OC'ing life as easy as it gets.  I'm sort of disappointed with MSI for shipping that cr@p of a software they call by the fancy name "Dual Core Center" (my my, such big name for such a little (worthless) program).
Anyway, just to clarify it again, I can OC myself via bios (well, I think I can...), but I'm too f***ing lazy for that.
Help the lazy man get a program which will do all the dirty OC work for him...
BTW, thanks for all your help people!

  • Hp probook 5310m no sound in windows 7.

hp probook 5310m no sound in windows 7. did i must install micosoft uaa just like in windows xp ?

    Hello,
I purchased my HP Pavilion P6205UK Desktop on December 28th 2009.
Early into January, my sound just cut out. No explanation of why, either.
    I'm running Windows 7.
I've changed settings in the BIOS.
I've tried to install the latest drivers from both HP and Realtek.
I'm at the end of my tether, I'm going to throw this out the window if it doesn't get fixed.
    Help, please?
I should add that the output device is my monitor, a HP 2009v.

  • Wooshing and scratching sound in Windows 7

I have an iMac I've been running windows 7 RC on for quite a while. After I installed Bootcamp drivers it worked perfectly.
So I decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and I started getting a lot of problems with the sound. I'm not "exactly" sure what sound card I have, but I believe it's realtek. (note what it sais in device manager depends on what driver I have installed so this cannot tell me what exactly my sound card is)
So after trying some different Realtek sound drivers and the normal windows sound drivers I thought to myself this is probably just a problem with the drivers not supporting 64 bit.
So now I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit, installed all the bootcamp drivers for my iMac... They're are not all "up to date" since I get them from my Leopard OSX CD.. So the realtek drivers that comes with my bootcamp is this version:
Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R1.82 - And this does not support windows 7.
So I downloaded the R2.41 which does. (Note I tried several R versions on my 64 bit) Still same problem as before. Wooshing and scattering sound like when you are on a radio with bad reception. The higher I turned the volume up the less the whooshing is. But it's still the. And it's REALLY bad when the sound is just turned down a little.
    Here are my system specifications:
    iMac Revision 8,1 - Bought November 2008
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz E8335
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT, 256 MB ram
    2 GB RAM installed
So I hope anyone can help me solve this problem?
Here is some information I pulled out of the Windows System Information:
    Name Realtek High Definition Audio
    Manufacturer Realtek
    Status OK
    PNP Device ID HDAUDIO\FUNC01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0885&SUBSYS_106B3C00&REV1001\4&39D4505F&0&0001
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\rtkvhda.sys (6.0.1.6029, 2,85 MB (2.991.328 bytes), 09-02-2010 17:56)

    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8335 @ 2.66GHz, 2667 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
    BIOS Version/Date Apple Inc. IM81.88Z.00C1.B00.0802091538, 09-02-2008
    SMBIOS Version 2.4
    Windows Directory C:\Windows
    System Directory C:\Windows\system32
    Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume3
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7600.16385"
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 2,00 GB

Not sure why, but curious, it makes no sense (to me) to use 64-bit Ultimate when you have 2GB RAM unless you plan to add 4GB memory.
How did you install the release? custom clean install hopefully. I'd redo and this time go with 32-bit (at least now Windows 7 comes with both, unless you took some shortcut system builder version).

  • No Sound in Windows Apps when Gaming PLEASE H

I can listen to music in winamp or whatever just fine, but when I open up World of Warcraft or something all sounds in Windows MUTES. However, the sound in World of Warcraft works fine! If I let a song continue to play while I'm in WoW, and exit the game, the sound magically comes back. This isn't specific to winamp, it's ALL windows sounds. However, if I try to do Creative diagnostics while WoW is open, I can hear the speaker test, how crazy is that?
What can I do? I have all the latest drivers for all of my hardware, and I have the latest BIOS for my mobo. I've tried the SB in different PCI slots also.
    Audigy 2 ZS
    VNF4 Ultra
    AMD A64 3200+ Winchester
    gb DDR400
    Geforce 6600GT
    Windows XP + SP2

ALSO, If I try to open the Creative EQ while WoW is open it says "No supported device found" or something. But If I quit WoW and try the same thing it works fine.

    Hi csabagb,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I saw your post regarding the problems with the audio when you go up to 4GB of memory. I will be happy to help. There are a couple of things that you can try, first go into the BIOS and restore defaults. This will force the BIOS to look at the hardware and hopefully at that point it will recognize everything properly. Give that a try and let me know how it goes.

  • No sound on Windows 7 Boot Camp

I've had this problem for a while now, I just ignored it in the past, now I'm really fed up. I've tried everything, downloading Realteck, burning BootCamp drivers onto the CD (I have a Lion which came with no disc), I tried playing around with the Sound in Control Pannel. Someone please help me!

Then google for Cirrus Logic Audio for Mac running Windows.

  • No sound on Windows XP Pro

Because the banks will not guarantuee internetbanking under Windows XP I have installed Windows 7 on two of my Pavilions. Because I am comfortable with XP and do not want a plethora of operating systems I have rolled my Pavilion t3710.nl back to XP (Pro SP3) from Vista (a clean installation). Although I use this PC as a file server sound is not really an issue but I find it very frustrating that I cannot get it to work. The MB is equipped with a ALC888 soundsystem from Realtek, but no matter which drivers I install, I cannot get it to work. I have seen on multiple forums that this is a known issue, yet no one seems to have a solution. I have resigned myself to the fact that I cannot get it to work but I will give it one last ditch attempt through this forum.
As the MB uses an AMD chipset, I have first installed the AMD Radeon 200 Express legacy drivers. Maybe additional drivers are needed. But the computer says that everything is working correctly. I have also made sure that the speakers are not dampened. There is sound though the headphone socket on the front of the computer but there is no sound from the rear socket which worked fine under Vista.
I may be missing the obvious, but I have no idea what.

    Hi JHvW,
I have read your post on setting up audio for your speakers in Windows XP, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
To better identify the drivers that will be needed for the realtek speakers, please take a look at this link on How to Find Hardware ID. The hardware you are looking for should be labelled "Realtek" under Sound. You may be able to find compatible drivers that will work with this hardware.
Please re-post with the hardware ID of your Realtek speakers and I will diligently follow up with you!

  • T61 no sound after Windows (Vista) update (?)

I have purchased a T61 in December 2007. The sound has always been low and now i have no sound at all.  I cannot hear files locally or on the Net -- or any of the computer sounds.

I have Speakers (SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio). The sound keeps defaulting to to Line 2 Muv Enum (Virtual Cable).

  • Start Navigation sound in Windows 7 64 bit dissappeared

? [size="">I have been scratching my head over this one.
[size="">After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a new build this week, and installing a new X-Fi PCIe Titanium Fatality Pro, I found the start navigation windows sound was no longer there - I am talking about the brief sound you hear, that sounds like a click, when you click a link, double click a folder to open , etc. I could find the sound in windows sounds, but when I pressed test I could not hear it.
    [size="">
[size="">After much trial and error, I discovered that I had to disable sound blaster enhancements, in the properties tab for speakers in the sound card settings. I now have that windows sound back.
[size="">When I enable sound blaster enhancements, it goes away, when I disable them, it is back to normal.
    [size="">
[size="">Is this normal or unique to me?

Wow, that fixed? my problem also by disabling soundblaster enhancements. How were you able to figure that one out? I was trying to figure it'sout also many months ago when I first got windows 7 beta and couldn't do it. Anyway,
Seems like most people don't like this start navigation sound, but I do.
I don't like the fact of having to disable soundblaster enhancements also.
Have you noticed that if you change the windows theme to something else it will actually work?

  • Windows 7 Install - BIOS versus UEFI - what to do next

Scenario, laptop came with Win8 pre-loaded on HDD but no other media disks; guy wants Win7. Attempted to start the laptop with 7 disk in the DVD-ROM drive, but it would only go to HDD, and didn't offer the usual choices of F-8 or F-3 etc. during boot black
screen. So I simply changed the hard drive out to a new blank one. Found articles about UEFI versus BIOS. Got into Set-Up screen with F2, disabled Secure, and later changed boot order to DVD then C. Got Win7 installed and looking normal. Then started
manually loading the Drivers via DVD recorded on different PC, that can be downloaded from the Toshiba site. Some drivers seem to be not recognized, but most of all the biggest problem seems to be = = Windows is not discovering devices and does not Find
New Hardware, so many items such as the CAT5 internet jack and the USB jacks are not working. Maybe also call this problem UPnP is not working.
Do I now need to switch back to UEFI now that it is up and running? Or would that fail due to the MBR or other boot sector differences I have been reading about in TechNet. The Win7 install recognized the size of the HDD as around 640GB and partitioned
    100MB for it's own uses.
It has done many many megabytes of Windows Updates via wireless, so it should have all the patches & security updates available, but still cannot discover a USB flash drive or mouse.
    Thank you,
    Al
