T400 - No Webcam device on BIOS

Hi,
I have a T400 with webcam option (6474-C17). I'm facing a problem that no WC device on BIOS so no image device in window also. Anyone have experience on this problem and can you share with me?
My laptop have currently bios 3.22 and using window 7 pro 64bit.
Thanks.
Khanh

Hi hqk134,
Just to verify what you've said, are you looking for the camera in "device manager" or in "devices and printers"?
I run Win 7 pro 64 on my T400 and the camera does not show up in "devices and printers" like it would have with earlier operating systems.  It does show up in "device manager".
With Win 7 on my T400 it's necessary to actually run an app to use the camera.  I use the free  Yawcam.  I can also see that the camera exists and functions by hitting Fn-F6 to bring up "communication settings, camera settings" and a little camera window.
From what I've read I don't think this is your issue. I'm tossing it out here just in case.
[edit] Just checked my BIOS: 3.21, 7UET91WW.  The camera is not among the BIOS options.

  • Problems initializing webcam device with JMF

    Hello,
JMStudio works fine on first try. Webcam stream is captured and displayed.
If I start JMStudio a second time, an error occurs "Couldn't initialize Webcam Device".
After rebooting my laptop it works again once.
Same errors occur with all example scripts using webcam device.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32Bit and a Vega USB 2.0 Camera (integrated in my laptop)
    Thank you in advance.

It also wouldn't work the first time, would it?"Sounds like JMF isn't releasing your web cam correctly."
Why wouldn't it work correctly the first time if JMF isn't releasing it correctly?
It seems the webcam connection isn't executed correctly on exit, so it can't connect again the second time.Connection isn't executed correctly on exit? You mean JMF isn't releasing your web cam, correctly, when it's done with it... I feel like someone just said that...
I just installed JMF today and JMRegistry recognizes my webcam and And the fact you only installed it today rules out the possibility than something went wrong during installation...why?
unfortunately I couldn't find drivers for the webcamWhen I suggested that you make sure you're using the correct drivers for the web cam, just to be clear, I was referencing the drivers for your operating system, not anything to do with JMF.
If you're using the incorrect drivers in the OS, whenever JMF sends out a "release the web cam" command, incorrect OS drivers may not be able to release it correctly.
All sarcasm aside...you should try reinstalling JMF, to make sure nothing funky happened during the installation...and you should make sure that Windows is using the latest, best, most accurate drivers for your web cam, to make sure that you're not using a flat-head screwdriver to try to screw in a Phillips head screw...

  • Softpaq error 1011 and webcam missing from BIOS

Hello.  I recently purchased an HP ProBook 4530s.  The HD webcam cannot be detected by Skype.  It does not show up in the device manager.  It does not show up in the BIOS options (the microphone does, but not the webcam)  When I try to run the softpaq SP55471 to update the webcam firmware, I get an error:
    11/30/2012 17:56:20.887  HPQRun Starts, Command Line:"C:\swsetup\SP55471\Setup.exe"
11/30/2012 17:56:20.918  Found USB_ID section in INI file
11/30/2012 17:56:20.965  Failed to find key ID:  error code = 1011
    11/30/2012 17:56:20.965  HPQRun Ends, Return Code: 1011
I am running the Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit installation which came with the machine.  The webcam does not show up in the original BIOS version F.20 or the updated BIOS version F.29
Is this likely a hardware failure?

It definitely sounds like a hardware issue with the webcam. I would recommend calling HP phone support if the notebook is still in warranty to have it repaired or replaced. The number is 1-800-474-6836 if you are located inside of the United States.

  • Lenovo T400 missing "discrete graphics" in Bios

Hello guys, i'm new in the lenovo users community!
i just bought from a friend a lenovo t400 that has installed in it the OS windows XP... and i was reading in forums and other places that this lenovo has a switchable graphic card. for another one that is the ATI 3450 i think..
I know that the windows Vista has the capability of making the switch very easily. but now im working in a company with my laptop and cant install this OS.
i've read that i can do it via BIOS, but when i go BIOS > Config > Display .. i only see 2 options... select the port (internal / PCI Express) and the Monitor thing (Thinkpad, digital, etc)..
I've seen in forums that there are another 2 choices (for discrete graphics and OS detection) but those seems to be missing in the Bios...
What do i need to do?
    What can i do?
I want to use this other graphic card... Can anyone Help?
    Thanks a lot

Your laptop may not have the switchable graphics option installed. Check to see what is in your system through Lenovo.com/support/warnty-look.
Some units did not ship with switchable graphics option.

  • T400 AMT/Fingerprint (Predesktop Authentication)/BIOS problem

    I have a T400 7417CTO.
When I received the machine in March 2009, I enabled the Predesktop Authentication with the fingerprint reader and set a power on password (which I have not forgotten).
Lately I enabled Intel AMT through the BIOS and provisioned it. I suspect AMT has set a supervisor password on the BIOS without me knowing?
Today I tried changing some settings in the BIOS. It would not allow me to do so as there was a Supervisor password apparently set (which I do not recall setting). I then pulled the backup battery out (reset power on password).
I then turn on the machine, and the fingerprint prompt comes up as usual after the POST screen.  However a password prompt now comes up after a successful fingerprint verification. I try all of the passwords that I know and none of these work. The password prompt has the third icon on this page (which is supposedly a power on password prompt) http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-59377 -- MIGR-59377.
I now cannot get into the BIOS, Intel ME Configuration or even boot up.
Would there be a way of rescuing the system, or is my system board bricked for sure?

    Hello hubertlam,
maybe it´s the normal AMT password you need.
That´s "admin" if it's in the first time mode. source: Intel

i wonder if formating the windows will help?

    Hello,
    When did it last work?
Running a System Recovery to reinstall the OS could resolve the issue if it is in fact a software issue and not hardware. If after Recvoery you are still experiencing this then a service to replace the webcam may be required.

  • 2nd HDD not recognized in Win7 Disk Manager, Shows in Device Manager, BIOS, Win7 Repair CD

    Hello,
I am trying to add a newly purchased HDD to my laptop as the secondary HDD.  The primary is a 160 GB SSD.
Primary SSD: Intel 160 GB SSD model SSDSA2BW160G3H
Secondary HDD: WD 750 GB 7200 RPM SATA/300, Model WDBLHJ7500ANC-NRSN
Laptop: HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad 17.3" laptop
Laptop Config: Intel i7-3720QM 2.6 GHz Quad Core, 8 GB RAM, nVidia GT650M, 160 GB SSD
    Laptop BIOS: F.24
    Laptop Date of Birth: 5/24/2012
    OS: Win 7 Prof x64
Shows up in BIOS (can run diagnostics OK).
Shows up in Win 7 Prof Device Manager.
Does NOT show up in Disk Manager.
Checked device drivers for Win7 Prof Device Manager HDD, have the latest.
Checked service manual, can't see anything that I missed.
Booted with Active@BootDisk (Win PE rescue disk), drive showed up as uninitialized.
Initialized drive, partitioned (one large), formatted NTFS.
Booted with Win 7 Repair Disk (Win PE), can see the drive in command prompt, able to write a text file to it OK.
Still won't show up in Win 7 Prof in Disk Manager.
Any ideas?  Maybe a firmware upgrade for the laptop?  Some kind of incompatibility with the HDD and SDD such as different dirve modes (don't believe that Win7 has issues with IDE versus AHCI devices)?
I had trouble adding a 2nd HDD to my dv7-6000 laptop; it finally just showed up months later. Is this common with HP laptops?
I am stumped and any help is appreciated.  I checked the Internets and didn't see anything other than HW issues. I need this to work for the new semester that started today.

    More testing:
WD Data Lifeguard (Western Digital's HDD diagnostics) also won't see the HDD after booting with Win 7 Prof off of the SSD.
Moved the HDD cable from the 2nd HDD to the primary header (SSD disconnected).  Was able to install another instance of Win7 on the 2nd HDD OK; this proves that the new WD HDD and the secondary cable are OK.  Moved the cable back to the 2nd header (still no SSD) and the computer booted off of the secondary HDD connected to the secondary header OK.
Added the SSD back to the primary header and booted into the instance of Win7 off of the SSD.  Disk Management can't see the 2nd HDD, WD Data Lifeguard can't see the 2nd HDD; however, Device Manager is able to see the 2nd HDD OK.
Ran Intel SSD toolbox on SSD; no issues.  Ran WD Align by Acronis on SSD (checks for advanced format alignment of 4K boundaries); it's already aligned to 4k boundaries.
Connected HDD to pri header, booted Win7 Ultimate on HDD.  Ran WD Data Lifeguard on HDD; it's fine.   Booted into WD Align by Acronis CD, ran WD align against HDD; it's already aligned to 4k boundaries.
Put HDD on pri header, SSD on secondary header and booted into Win7 Ultimate on HDD.  Able to see both drives in Dask Management.
Put SSD back onto primary header, HDD back onto 2nd header, booted into Win7 Prof on SSD.  Disk Management can't see the HDD again...
Updated laptop BIOS from F.24 to F.2D rev A (Install Shield Wizard confirms that it is for Win7 x64 as well as Win 8.1).  Didn't fix the issue...
Ran Intel Driver Update Utility.  I have the Intel RST (Rapid Store Technology) driver v 11.0.0.1032.  Did not state that I needed to upgrade this driver.  This is latest version on the HP website.
Everything works except having the SSD connected to the primary header, having the HDD connected to the secondary header, booting into Win7 Prof on the SSD and trying to see the HDD in Disk Management.  Unfortunately, this is the configuration that I need to work.
Any thoughts on what is causing this?  Hardware issue with HP Laptop?  Power supply issue?  Bad HDD controller?  Bad install of Win7 Prof on SSD (appears to run fine otherwise).

  • T400 No audio Device Installed

My T400 has all the latest drivers which say "working properly."  However I am still without functioning speakers and microphone.  When I go to volume mixer I see "No audio device installed."  I have been trying to troubleshoot this for weeks and have been unsuccessful following various tips.  I also called the brilliant phone support who couldn't even get my email down correctly to send me the self-guided troubleshooter or whatever they called.   Does anyone have any suggestions I could try to correct this problem.  Much thanks in advance!

If you have just installed XP then that could happen if you do not have SP3. If you did just install XP then update to SP3 and reinstall the audio drivers again. Otherwise we will need more info.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I have never heard of the term "S0" and "S1" for drives. Perhaps you mean sda and sdb.
Go into the BIOS, choose your equivalent of "Hard disk priority", move the drive that you want to boot first above the rest of the others, and then exit by saving the settings (usually F10). That should do the trick. Alternatively, you could open up the case and move the SATA cables around, but be careful if you use "sdx" name conventions in /etc/fstab.
    Thanks for the reply
I made up S0 and S1 for simplicity. sda and sdb makes more sense I suppose.
My BIOS does not recognize sdb in the priority menu, I'll try moving the SATA cables.

  • How do you get your webcam device name from the JMF registry?

Ya, I don't know where the JMF registry is.....is there a list somewhere in the API? Is it somewhere in the Windows registry files after installing JMF? I keep hearing you need to do this when creating a webcam application but never seen it explained anywhere.

The registry is a file located in the lib directory under the installation of Java Media Framework, called jmf.properties.
You can edit it with the jmfregistry application provided with JMF, or using the proper classes such as the CaptureDeviceManager.

  • T400 BIOS bug in version 7UET79WW (3.09 )

I have a T400 (2767AG8) and run Win 7 64. Before I've upgraded to Win 7, I've updated my BIOS to version 7UET79WW (3.09 ). As before the update, I made sure to disable various devices which I do not use to speed up my notebook start. Among the disabled devices are Intel AMT and the Ricoh CardBus controller. But Windows still detects these devices. This suggests that the BIOS does not correctly disable these devices.
    Is the issue known?

I have the same problem with a T400 upgraded to the latest BIOS V3.12.  Intel AMT is disabled in the BIOS, yet I still get a "PCI Simple Communications" device in Device Manager without a driver.  Even if I disable this device, I still am prompted for a driver each time I boot the computer.

  • T400 BIOS without iAMT option

Hi, I have a T400 with BIOS version 1.13 with no iAMT option. I have another T400 with iAMT option and BIOS version is 1.18. Can I convert my BIOS 1.13 to 1.18 to show iAMT? Or is this hardware control and upgrading the BIOS will kill the T400 with BIOS 1.13? Pls advise.

There might just not yet be the need to launch a whole warranty case  in my opinion. The link you refer to is only usable if you have a fully functioning bios. Your case is special. You're facing a corrupt bios.
May I ask you if you get to see the initial boot screen (typical white Thinkpad & intel logo on a black background)?

Hello br_benz. I understand that you're receiving the "webcam not detected" error. Is this correct?
You state that you've already spoken with HP Support directly and tried some solution with no luck. I recently made a post about this issue which will likely cover many if not all of support's usual solutions. Take a look at that thread here.
If you've tried all the steps outline in the above thread then the notebook most likely needs to be repaired. In the event that this is the case give HP Support a call again. If you're in the US/Canada the phone number is 1-800-474-6836. For other countries you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.
I hope this is helpful; have a great day!

Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.
