T400 poor display contrast

Hello!
Yesterday I buy T400 in online store and I was unpleasantly surprised by quality of picture. Contrast is very low and I can't make it look better. I've try verious technics of calibration, but that's all no use.
Is it normal for that model? Model is not so cheap, but it look likes. Is there any color schemes maybe? Or another solution of that problem?
P.S. Sorry for my engish.

Hi,
I do not have the ultimate solution but maybe some hints:
First make sure you have turned your brightness up.
Then the question is what your expectations are. Maybe you should go to a lenovo shop and compare your model against one in the show room.
If the picture is the same you expect too much ;-)
otherwise it seems you unluckily bought a defect notebook and have to send it in for repair. As far as I can tell there is no software/calibration solution: either a monitor works or it does not.

    Hi all,
Anyone have the poor display quality webcam from ThinkPad E440?
This is the first timeI bought a Lenovo product: a ThinkPad E440 with i7 cpu few days ago (I am currently using ASUS UX31). Everything is great except that the webcam have extremely poor quality:
    1. When I use the camera application, the photo is grainy with extremely poor resolution
    2. The video chat at night not just very poor in resolution, it actually turn into Black & White at night, in the morning it have color but still extremely poor display quality. Attached photo is taken around evening, no color was detected, all in black and white......is that the normal quality from ThinkPad E440?
I have updated all my drivers again and again.
I am not sure if it is a defect or it is buid to be that poor? How can I troubleshoot before send for repair?
    Product model: 20C5CTO1WW
The webcam is intergrated camera HD720p
The video card is Intel(R) HD Graphic 4600
    Please Help! Thanks.

  • T500 - poor display quality

I have T500 with WXGA TFT LED Backlight and integrated Intel graphics and I'm very disappointed with it. This LCD
presents very poor quality in terms of viewing angles (not only vertical but also horizontal), colors (they are somehow
    washed-out, not saturated) and contrast.
Does anyone know if it is possible to replace this display with WSXGA+ TFT CCFL Backlight or WXGA TFT CCFL Backlight.
    Will they give better results?

If you would like ThinkPads with better displays, might I suggest that you please take the survey?
    Thanks!

Well, we're all 'just' users here, although I do not think Microsoft will give a final date, we know from experience it does not take them very long in these cases usually.

  • Poor display on retina display

I just received my new MacBook pro w/Retina display.  Generally, things are great. Strangely the much more complex FCPX displays amazingly well on the new macbook pro while in Pages and Numbers I get the same pixelated results as a third party app like Filemaker.  I thought all the Apple apps were updated to display beautifully on retina--Mail & Calendar do as well.  I've run software update and updated via the App Store; but the display is poor.  I've also gone into display settings and confirmed they are at optimal settings.
Any fixes?  Has Apple truly not updated these yet?
    Thanks for any help,
    Greg

I believe you need to get info on the individual iWork apps & select something along the line of "open in low resolution."
We've all been waiting a very long time for updates/upgrades to the iWork apps. The last update was a year ago to take advantage of autosave & versions in Lion. Maybe something will happen around the time Mountain Lion is released sometime this month, but I'm not holding my breath.

  • How to reduce display contrast in OS X 10.10

I just updated to OS X 10.10 and found that the display is too bright and has too high contrast for my eyes. In fact, I can barely look at the screen without hurting my eyes since I am already sensitive about looking at lights. I reduced the brightness as much as can reasonably be reduced to, but the contrast is still too high to look at. If I reduce the brightness any further, the content becomes too dark to read or see. Even with Brightness at one bar, the screen is glaring at me. In Accessibility there is an option to increase contrast, but none to decrease it. Please help.
Moreover, I must mention here that it was quite impossible to find the appropriate Community to post this question to, I don't know why.

You would start up with the Mac OS X Installation CD. Run the installer. Select the option to "erase and install."
If you want to erase the old data more "securely," from the first Installer screen, go to the Installer menu and run Disk Utility. Select the hard drive. Go to the Erase tab. I haven't use 10.2 in a while, but hopefully there's a button there for Options. If so, select the option for Zero out data. That writes zeros to all sectors. Then quit Disk Utility and proceed with the installation.

  • T400 LED Display

I just recieved my T400, and am trying to confirm I have the LED backlit monitor.  Right after I ordered my laptop, I was confirming the features I ordered, and noticed the description didn't show the display was LED backlit.  I called up Lenovo, and they confirmed it was a LED backlit monitor, and that the descrption field cuts off the full description which explains why it didn't show on the feature list.  Just to be sure, I went through and reconfigured a laptop with all of the options I wanted, and confirmed it was the same price.
Now if you look on the T400 datasheet from the lenovo website (3rd page), it shows the following:
    WXGA (1280x800, 98dpi, 185+ nit)
    WXGA+ (1440x900, 129dpi, 200+ nit)
    WXGA+ W/LED backlit (1680x1050, 129dpi, 200+ nit)
I just went to check my display settings, and it is set to the max resolution of 1440x900.  Logic would tell me that I got stuck with the WXGA+ monitor for the price of the WXGA+ W/LED backlit monitor.  How can I confirm this?  This would really suck since the LED backlit display was one of the deciding factors of purchasing this laptop.

I checked my Email Confrimation, the Order Status on the Lenovo Website, and the Parts Lookup on the Lenovo Website and found the following part numbers for my laptop:

  • Mac Pro display contrast too high

I recently moved to a 2.66 ghz Mac Pro from a G5 and am finding that when I use the Display Pref's calibration settings my La Cie photon20vision display is way too contrasty. On my G5 it worked fine and the contrast was fine. I started as the Disply Pref's instruct by setting the contrast to 100% and continuing as I have numerous times before. For some reason the calibration seems skewed to be way too contrasty. I sent a photo done on my monitor and sent it to someone and they asked what was wrong as everything was so washed out and flat on their monitor.... on mine it looked fine

  • Display Contrast keeps dropping to black.

I've had a look at other threads but non of them seem to have quite the same symptoms. I've tried lots of suggested solutions to no avail.
My Macbook 4,1 (early 2008, running OSX 10.5.8) screen keeps blacking out irregularly - sometimes every 5 minutes, sometimes after 10 seconds, then 30 seconds, then it'll be fine for 2 mnutes.
It's definitely the contrast that keeps dropping and not the screen sleeping - I can still see a very faint display. I don't have the ambient light sensor activated and it can be left completely alone, not touched and it will just randomly dim itself.
The only way I can get the contrast up again is to use the contrast keyboard buttons to dim it all the way down and then brighten it up again. Sometimes that doesnt work and going to 1 on brightness just flashes the screen up breifly. I then have to alternate on the contrast buttons toggling between 0 and 1 to get it to eventually work. It also sometimes helps just closing the screen then opening it up again.
I have the problem with battery in, with the battery out, ive restarted and turned off over night. Luckily, I backed everything up last night onto an FAT32 partitioned external drive. I think it highly unlikely that that could be the cause, but I don't want to leave anything vital out and seems like a bit of coincidence to have started the same night!
As you can imagine, this is unbelievably infuriating - any help greatly appreciated! I have the option to do a software reinstall in a couple of days when my Snow leopard disc comes in the post but I'd like to try everything else first...
    Thank you so much.

Same model, same problem, same time. This seems to have worked for some people:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3547027
I tried it (knocking sleeping computer gently against a table, then blowing out the back), and its okay for the moment, but the problem has been intermittent for me, so can't say if its solved.
Will be checking back on this forum to see if anyone else chimes in.

  • MG3200 poor colour/contrast quality

    Hi,
I have a PIXUS MG3200 & I bought some Canon 5x7 photo paper for printing images.
The paper is Glossy standard kind.
Printing an image from Photoshop I have selected "Glossy Paper" & also "Photo Paper Plus Glossy II"
I made sure that the print quality settings were set to High.
I allowed Printer to select colour matching, but I also tried setting photoshop to manage colours.
The printer is about a month old & this is the first time I have printed on glossy paper.
Regardless of the above settings the print quality is very poor - I mean it is very washed out, low contrast. The actual resolution is fine, but the image is flat & lacking vibrance & the colour is muddy.
I have also printed the image using 'preview' (OS X default image app) & results were the same, again I was careful to select glossy paper & high quality print settings.
I am attaching a pic so you can see what i mean, the image below is close to what i am seeing, but actually the image below looks better than real life (slightly) the real photo has even less contrast.
Can you offer any advice for me to be able to improve results?

These two photos demonstrate this problem perfectly... I was trying to copy a developed photo initially, so I thought that was the issue, but even after I scanned it, the image printed out with poor contrast just like yours. I'm really disappointed as my 10 year old Epson DX6000 printed images far superior to this. The MG3200 series is also billed widely as producing 'photo lab quality photos' which this is certainly not. Any help with this annoying inferiority would be hugely appreciated!

  • T400 glossy display?

I just purchased a new T400 with the14.1 WXGA TFT with CCFL backlight. It appears to have a shiny smooth glass screen instead of the typical slightly roughened feel I am used to with matte displays.  I was under the impression that all T400 displays were matte screens, is it possible I have a glossy screen?
    Thanks.

Mine has 14.1 WXGA+ TFT with LED backlight and it is not glossy.

  • TS3274 Display Contrast on IPad since IOS7 Applied

Has anyone found that the display appears very washed out since applying IOS7? The brightness adjustment does not help to adjust contrast. Is there an independent contrast setting?

why m iphone 4g doenst have colors if i increased the contrast? is it not allowed in iphone 4g or it is allowed only in iphone 4s above? i want it badly.

  • Can I adjust the display contrast?

I need to adjust the contrast of my MBP display DOWN to be able to view shadow details, but I can't find any way to adjust the contrast. I already checked Universal Access and its adjusted down as low as it gets.

LCD displays do have some limitations for fine color work.
But are you sure the issue isn't with the image file itself? Perhaps you need to reset the input/output curve of your photo in an image editing program like Photoshop, GraphicConverter, or Compositor?
Or am I jumping the gun in assuming you are viewing your own photos? Is this just a general web-browsing, images don't look good question?

  • Funky display contrast on reboot

Something very odd is going on with my 12" G4 Powerbook. The display seems to have an unusually high contrast setting after reboot. The only way to fix it is to connect the computer to an external monitor - after disconnecting, the screen is fine. It only affects one user on the system, and if I take a screenshot and view it on another computer, everything looks fine. Once it's fixed, I can sleep the computer and on wake it is fine -- it only comes back after a reboot.
Performing color calibration, even with advanced settings, does nothing, and I've tried jumping between different screen resolutions and color display modes (millions, thousands, etc) . It seems pretty obvious that this is software related, but I am out of ideas. Help!

This problem has persisted even after moving to a new computer, so clearly it's some corrupt preference file in the user directory. Can anyone help me figure out which file it might be?

  • T400 shake display when plug power supply s.o winxp

    Hello everybody
Days ago I installed windows XP prof to thinkpad T400 , I used driver Intel Display Driver for Windows XP and ATI Display Driver for Windows XP but sometimes when plug power supply suddenly display start shake. please help me about of this
    thanks a lot

Ok, as an electrical engineer...I have to step in here! LOL
First, these amp rating are for 2 +12 rails. That is why you see a protection of around 15-18A on the +12 rail. That means each Rail is allowed up to 18A lets say for the new Enermax 1.2 version like the one I have.
Now, Lets say 18A for 12V....well as you know the Abit NF7-S uses the 12V for powering the CPU.
Lets say you have a Barton like me and you want it stable at around 2.4-2.5Ghz. You will have to put lets say around 2V to the cpu to get it stable at that kinda speed, specially if you have high FSB like I do. So 12V * 18Amps = 216W ....well the converter on the NFS-7 is really bad, its loss on the step down convertion is probably around 25% along with the PSU lost cuz its not running at 25oC (another 15%)....you will actually only get around 100-120W for the CPU.
Now, if you go into Sandra and see how much a Barton eats up at 2.4Ghz you will see its around 110Watts.
So, if you wanna push more, dont even think about it! Prime Power test fails and your +12 rail will drop as low as 11.60 Volts.
Now, lets say you got yourself a AMD 64 bit chip and you wanna overclock it....I bet it will need more than 110Watts.
So, what im saying is, dont buy nothing less than a 500 Watt PSU!
You really need around 20-22 A on the main +12 along with really really good cooling on the case and PSU so it is running at a 100%.

i found this quite interesting especially the bit re the power loss turning the 12v into 1.6v or what ever cpu needs
