T400 re-installation OS and drivers

Hello!
My ex-employer donated to me the laptop T400 I used, only hardware.
I would like to re-install the original OS (I think was Vista) and drivers.
How can I proceed?
Thanks in advance.

Innovator,  hello and welcome,
lead_org is right - if you really want Vista.
My opinion - which you didn't ask for: if you are looking at purchasing media, why not purchase Win 7?  It will (probably) be more expensive than recovery media, but you'll end up with Win 7.
I've had XP, Vista, and Win 7 on my T400.  Win 7 is by far the best on this hardware.  Vista was the worst.
My $.02,
Z.

  • Just installed XP and Drivers, Now no mouse or keyboard

Alright, so I just installed Windows XP through Boot Camp and had everything running on my new iMac. As labeled in the instructions, I popped in the driver install CD after I had XP installed (at this point, the bluetooth keyboard and mouse were both working). The wizard came up and the drivers installed themselves. Everything looked all fine until the setup "ended" with an error message that I didn't get to read, because less than a second later, the computer restarted itself.
When XP came back up, I could tell that the video and sound drivers were installed because I heard the startup sound and the resolution was adjusted. BUT, the mouse and keyboard stopped working totally! I tried plugging in another wired USB mouse and keyboard, but the computer didn't detect them either.
What should I try? Just reinstall the whole thing?
    Thanks in advance!

    No problem!
    - Right after I installed Windows XP (a clean install with no other data, of course), I popped in the driver install CD.
    - When the installer comes up, close it - we won't be needing that.
    - Open My Computer from the Start Menu and find the disc corresponding to the optical drive (Titled "Boot Camp"). Right click on it and select "Open", not "AutoRun". The disc's contents should appear.
    - From there, open the folder named "Boot Camp", and then open up "Drivers". In the "Drivers" folder, you'll find a whole bunch of folders that contain all of the drivers for all of the hardware on your Mac.
    - You're going to need to manually install all of the drivers EXCEPT the ones pertaining to 'USB' or 'Bluetooth'. Open each folder (better to do them in order), and find the drivers you need to install. It may look overwhelming trying to figure out which ones you need, but it's more simple than you might think. Essentially, each folder contains all of the drivers you need, but there are several versions of them for the different versions of Windows (XP, Vista 32, Vista 64, Win 64, Win 32, etc etc etc...) Figure out which version you have (most likely 32-Bit Windows XP) and install every driver that says anything among the lines of 'Win32' or 'XP' or 'XP32' (you get the idea) (again, avoiding the ones that have to do with Bluetooth or USB).
TIP: The driver installer windows seem to pop up behind the window that you're currently using. Select them from the taskbar.
TIP 2: Some drivers may summon a "Install New Hardware Wizard" window. Just don't touch those. Don't. Touch. They will go away on their own when the device is installed. I promise.
ANOTHER TIP: When you get to the graphics cards installer folders (Either ATI or nVidia), you only need to install the ones for the graphics card that's in your computer!
YET ANOTHER TIP: Don't forget the lingering "MotorolaSetup.exe" installer in the drivers folder!
Hope this helps! If you need any clarification, please ask!
PS: All of the above is why OS X is awesome. Just sayin'.

  • Windows 7 and drivers question

Like may people I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 64-bit from Vista 32-bit. When installing I used the optional update listed in Windows update?for Sound Blaster drivers, these were installed and the sound is working fine.
After a few days getting Windows 7 set up the way I wanted I decided to?find and install the extra?programs from Creative like Alchemy and the sound utilities. The problem is Creatives auto update is broken as posted on these forums?by a lot of other Sound Blaster users. My sound card was installed when I bought the card so I don't have the serial number or model number and I'm unwilling to take the machine apart to find these numbers.
My problem is that I'm sure my card is the PCI-Express Sound Blaster?X-Fi Xtreme Audio as the DVD installation disk I received with the computer shows a diagram of the card, I'm also pretty sure Vista Device Manager reported it as such. Windows 7 's Device Manager however reports it as just the Sound Blaster?X-Fi Xtreme Audio. While trying to find software and drivers manually on Creatives site there are separate drivers for these two cards, the PCI-Express one is version .0.4.0000 dated 30 June 09?and the other is .0.4.0090 dated 2 July 09. Neither of these drivers relate to the driver in Device Manager which Windows reports as version 6.0.0.209 dated 27 August 09. I tried installing the PCI-Express driver .0.4.0000 as they seemed to be the?appropriate drivers but windows reported them as older than the ones installed so I cancelled the installation.
Can anyone advise me on which is the right driver? There seem to be 3 different ones discounting the Beta ones on Creatives site. Creative auto update can't advise me as it's broken, I can't contact Creative directly because I don't have my serial number at hand, why don't they have a tool for checking serial numbers electronically? Non retail Sound Blaster owners have to strip their computers to find stickers on the circuit board as they didn't fit the card themselves!
Can someone also advise me if Alchemy and all?the sound utilities work with Windows 7 64-bit's when I select Windows 7 64-bit as the OS the download list removes everything but the drivers.

sorry for the questions, i did what u wrote but appear the same 5.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC: restore system and drivers

Hi. Some days ago I faced a bad experience with my laptop HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. System crashed. At anytime I tried to switch it on, a message error appeared and system was blocked. Message was: FILE:\BOOT\BCD Status 0xc000000f, asking for running the Windows 7 System disk. But System disk didn't run at all. I checked situation and found the hard disk with 6 partitions instead of 2. I found a partition named BOOT (X that was a replica of C:.  When I tried to restore the system by the recovery disk, something got control of the recovery disk, so that C: could not be formatted; neither X: was. Also, I tried to cancel files in X: but disk was protected and didn't allow any changes. So I could only get my hard disk uninstalled and all the partitions were cleaned off. I got my hard disk perfectly cleaned, but my recovery disk could not be installed properly. Therefore, system was not restored yet. My question is: what should I do to get my laptop with restored system? any ideas?

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number. Please enter the model/product information into HP's Online Consumer Support page and/or post it here for our review.
Depending on the age on your computer, it may have come from the factory with 5 or more partitons. This is common on newer computers that utilize UEFI and GPT partitions. The "Windows 7 System disk", the computer wass asking for is either a Windows 7 installation disc or a Windows 7 Repair Disc. Neither of these discs come with your HP computer and must be downloaded and/or created in Windows.
Start by using your HP Recovery Disc set (should be 3 or more DVDs). Insert disc #1 and reboot your computer to start the process. Insert the remaining discs as requested, until the recovery is finished.
If this doesn't work and you can read the 25-digit Microsoft Windows 7 product key on th Microsoft COA affixed to your computer, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download Windows 7 SP1, create the Windows installation DVD, and install Windows 7.  If you prefer to install Windows 7 from a USB Flash Drive, please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash Drive. After installing Windows using this method , you will no longer have any HP customizations or software. You will also need to identify and download drivers for hardware devices that Windows 7 didn't already supply drivers for.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Creating executable including run time and drivers windows 7

    Hi
Using version 8.5.1 and need to include the runtime version, and drivers for connecting to scope into an executable. Have found so much information on the subject of creating an executable but would like to know if anyone has some step by step for version 8.5.1 to create an executable.   Also, has anyone had any issues with drivers and installing/creating exe. while running windows 7.

    Hi!
I remember running the compiler at home on Windows 7 64bit using 32bit LabVIEW and I did not have any problems.  The exe built just fine.
You have to have your code in a project in order to build an executable.  Once you have created a project and included your source files, right click on Build Specifications and choose "New->Application (exe)".  Go through each section of the Application (exe) dialog and input the appropriate settings you need.
You can include the runtime and device drivers by creating an Installer.  Once you have your executable built, you can right click on Build Specifications and choose "New->Installer".  Same thing, go through each part of the dialog box selecting appropriate settings.  Under "Additional Installers" you can include NI drivers and the LabVIEW runtime.  If you have never done this before, it may ask for you to insert LabVIEW/NI Driver discs so it can include what it needs to for your installer.
My users tend to groan whenever I do this, however, as it creates installers >400MB (which seems silly to them for what appears to be a simple program).  Ah well.

  • Software and drivers for Audigy 2 Plati

    Hello
I'm reinstalling my audio card and the installation disc has become damaged (scratch)
I went to the downloads area and got confused by all the updates and patches
where do I go to get the basic software and drivers that are the basis of what is getting updated and patched?
    Thank you
    nic

I'm in the same boat. (but have the Platinum 2 EX) I switched computers and can't find my driver installation disk.
I thought I figured out which was the correct one on the site, but when I attempted to install the latest drivers from the board, it said that is couldn't find the hardware or software necessary... something like that.
For what it's worth, the 2nd to last driver updates did seem to install without problems though; so, you may want to try that one.
At the moment, I'm only getting sound from my front 2 speakers, but this may be because I need the additional Creative software to get the CMSS working and adjust the surround balance.
Has anyone received the message I mentioned when trying to install the latest drivers?
    thx

  • Tecra A2 - Cannot find applications and drivers CD for download

    Hello Support,
I can not find anywhere on the Toshiba Site the "TECRA A2 Applications and Drivers CD".
Why do you make it so hard for your customers to find all necessary drivers in one place?
Provide me with a link to a Download of the full Drivers disk please.
The drivers downloads page lists 30 single drivers instead of offering a package.
    Thanks.

I agree with you about the Cd with drivers and applications. A friend of mine bought laptop, not Toshiba, with supplied windows 7 32/bit/64 bit disks and driver/application disk. So he doesn't have to make a recovery disk, they are already done and supplied. The same thing with drivers, he just need to insert disk and installed them one by one according to the shown list. Therefore, he doesn't need to make a search and ask about the right installation order. For every notebook, the installation is different.
In this forum, I 've found a thread about the driver installation:

  • Software and Drivers for an HP Scanjet 5590 with a 64 bit Windows 7 computer.

I thought that I had posted the following question but as I can't find it I will try again.  I have been given a HP Scanjet 5590 scanner with no Software or Drivers for 64 bit Windows 7 computer and looking through the Web I saw some awful comments on the experiences of those using the software and drivers.  I don’t want to make the same mistake so could anyone tell me how to go about obtain the correct software and drivers?

    Corporal,
Here is the link for the software...
If you have the "p" model, backtrack a the link and reselect the proper model.
You want the "Full Feature" software.
Note that the download size is 315MB - plan accordingly if you have a slow connection...
While you are there, be sure to download the Print Doctor utiltity.  (Do that first, it is tiny.)  This may help later with installation and connection issues, if needed.)

Hi! I lost the windows7 64 bit OS and drivers cd of my Pavilion g6 g6-2032tx. I reformat it with windows7 32 bit OS but when I look for the drivers in this site, the 32 bit OS doesn't have drivers. Please send me copy of windows7 64 bit OS. Thanks, Moises

    Hi,
    There are two options available.
    1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - these will reinstall the operating system, all required drivers and nearly all of the original software ( the exception often being trials of MS Office ).  They will also re-create all the original partitions, including the Recovery Partition.
    Order HP Recovery Discs.
    2.  Another option you could consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - this is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn ( Note: You may want to de-select the additional software offerings during the installation of ImgBurn ) to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  The Windows Image source is Digital River.
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit.
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • Needed Recovery CD and drivers for my Satellite L850-B148

Where can I Get a recovery and drivers cd for my Toshiba Satellite L850-B148?
Recently, I had my motherboard and HDD replaced and win7 freshly installed. But unfortunately, I could not find the CD that came with the laptop. Can you help?

    Hello
As I can see doc has already posted the links for drivers download. If you don't have recovery disc for recovery image installation you can install own OS version using Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can download from Toshiba download page. Of course you must install them one by one.
In this case your preinstalled OS will not be activated as original recovery image so you must buy valid licence code (product key).
In my opinion best solution for you is to order original recovery installation disc. I don't know where do you live but I hope the link posted by doc will work for you.
Using recovery installation disc the whole package will be installed and when finished it is not necessary to install anything. OS, drivers and all necessary tools and utilities will be installed and configured properly.
