T400, Switchtable graphics problem, windows 7 64 bit

Hello everybody.
I buy a new T400 with switchtable graphics. I install a clean windows 7 64 bit professional version. I install system update and check the required apps and drivers. Everything is done, but after the reboot, I switch to intel graphic card and the screen is bouncing really hard. I switch back to ati evetrything is ok. I check if is use a lower resolution or lower refreshing rate the intel is working well. What is the problem? At the device manager everything looks like good.

  • T400 switchable graphic problem

    Dear Jhem,
The model of T400 I have is 2768-AA6.
I have some questions on the switchable graphic card function:
1.Under device manager are we suppose to see two GPU installed or just the active one? I can only see the active one. But most ppl around me who have T400 can see both two GPU. Is there anything wrong with my machine?
    2. The automatic hot switchable function is not available at all. I remember the switchable function is that when we use battery the computer can choose integrated graphic card while when we use AC adaptor the computer can switch to discrete graphic automatically. However, no mater what power source I use to power up the computer, the integrated graphic card is selected. The only way I can use ATI graphic card is get into BIOS----->disable switchable function------->select discrete graphic card and then restart computer.
Are these common problem for T400? They make me very unhappy as the most attractive function of this model cannot be use at all.
    Thanks a lot!

    Anyone can help?
    Thanks!

  • X230T - Major Windows 8 Graphics Problems

    Hi all,
I own a X230 Tablet with the Intel HD4000 running Windows 8 Release Preview. I know it's still a beta but I was just wondering if anyone else has run into major graphics problems on Windows 8 Release Preview. I'm currently using the most up to date W8 64 bit Drivers from intel.
There is a huge amount of clipping, flickering and white backgrounds being shown as black. The apps I've noticed this in are OneNote MX (whenever pen input done), Windows Reader (All PDF white backgrounds are shown as black) and Internet Explorer 10 Metro (Tab previews have black bacgrounds). This is strange to me, though I've found at least one other X230T owner with identical problems.
Pictures, videos and descriptions can be found here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-winapps/intel-hd4000-onenote-mx-w8-reader...
Just wondering if Lenovo engineers are aware of this issue and if a fix exists/ is being worked upon. It's somehwat fustrating as it makes many core Windows 8 experiences unsuable (which was the point of buying a touch screen laptop).
    Thanks

  • W7/64-bit on W500 - Switchable Graphics problem

    Hi,
Did a clean install Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on my Thinkpad W500 (4062-3CG).
Having problem with "ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows 7".
ATI driver won't load, so default Intel chipset is used with poor graphics as a result.
I have also tried "Windows 7 BETA Drivers and Utilities" with no luck.
Yesterday the graphics worked for a short period of time, that was after remoting my Thinkpad with RDP? very strange. But after reboot graphics was back to non functional again.
    Any ideas?
    TIA
    Johan

Did you apply Lenovo driver packages in any specific order? Don't really understand what I missed?
My plan was to do a "clean" W7/64 install and after that run ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 for latest drivers.
In my case ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 could not start without Access Help for Windows 7 installed, that was the first dependency problem.
However, after that ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 run successfully and everything works fine but the ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows 7.
The ThinkVantage System Update 4.0 applied latest updates for everything including the BIOS. When I try to run BIOS update separately for getting around the graphics problem it says BIOS version is OK and no update needed.
Tried to disable Switchable Graphics in BIOS-setup using Discrete but that does not fix my problem?

  • Switchable Graphic Problem AMD & Windows 8.1- Solved

    Follow the steps accurately
    1. Open This Pc or My Computer and then go to Uninstall or change a program
    2. As the list is displayed, you will see Intel Graphic Driver & AMD Catalyst install manager. You have to uninstall it both in express mode so that no other previous setting are available anymore.
    3. First, uninstall Intel Graphics driver. If it asks for a restarting the pc than go for it.
    4. As the list is displayed, you will see AMD Catalyst install manager, right click it and uninstall it in express mode. Uninstall all the AMD component. Restart your PC as it will ask you.
    5. Go to This Pc or My Computer and then C Drive. Open Program Files & Program Files (x86) both of them if you are running 64-bit Os. In the search box write AMD and you will find some remaining files- delete them all.
    6. Now you PC is free of previous drives and the remaining files. Although right click to Windows sign and go to Device Manager. You will see Display adapters and uninstall them both. This step is not necessary but just to be sure that your PC has no previously installed drivers.
    7. Open your browser and download the latest Intel Graphics Driver for your PC. My driver was Win64_153322. Install it. If you install it correctly than you are half way through. Restart your PC if it requires.
    8. Go to AMD web site and download the latest driver. To avoid complicacy best option is to download Autodetect. Because it will choose the best appropriate driver for your system. File name is amddriverdownloader.
    9.  Open the file amddriverdownloader and download the driver. Download will be completed and it will start automatically the installation. Install it in express mode. Restart your PC as it will ask you to do it.
    10. Hopefully your driver problems will be solved. To check it go to device manager and see if the drivers are installed correctly. Turn on CCC and give it a try to play a game in High Performance. You will see the problem is solved.
This is how I solved my AMD graphics problem. I been suffering since I installed Windows 8.1 just after it was released and today 15 Jun 14 I solved the issue. I can play any game in High performance now.
If you think my opinion is helpful to you than Please share it.

  • Graphic problem in Windows with Boot Camp?

I only just noticed this today when I was editing some pictures in Photoshop using Windows (Boot Camp). My version is Windows 8 64-bit and the Photoshop is CS 6 but I suspect the same thing would happen even if I were using Windows 7.
Whenever I view an image in Firefox, Chrome, Windows Picture Viewer or any other program besides Photoshop, the image is always displayed as it is and appears as crisp and sharp as it should. For example, if I load a picture that's 600x600 pixels outside of Photoshop, it would look exactly like it is - at 600x600.
But once I open it in Photoshop, and if it happens to be a very big picture (which it is for me, most of the time), the picture would look resized (i.e. smaller), but the Photoshop navigator would still say it's displayed at 100% magnification. So a 2000x2000 picture would basically look half its real size but still be at a zoom setting of 100% according to Photoshop.
That in itself isn't the problem, but trying to edit/crop the image is. If I were to select a part of the picture and resize it to, say, 100x100 pixels, the final image would be a bit blurry, even if I save it at "most high" quality. That obviously makes my image "un-usable" because the quality is so terrible. This doesn't happen at all on a computer without retina display but on mine it makes the task of editing images in Photoshop frustrating and pointless.
I really think it's an issue with retina display's native resolution not being supported in any version of Windows, so I'm hoping anyone who uses a Macbook Pro RD, Windows AND Photoshop could help me get around this problem.

Did you grab and install the graphic driver from Nvidia?
Apple or even Microsoft driver are not always the best.

I see a black screen or distortion when I install Windows 8 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012). How do I fix this?
The Windows 8 installer does not contain the correct graphics driver for your computer. You'll need to attach the USB media that contains the Boot Camp drivers during installation to address this issue. See this article for more information.

Also, Intel 4000 graphic driver, switching between Intel HD and Nvidia has been a problem.
    From my (now old) notes:
I had problems with windows 7 after the installation using boot camp. The GT 650M was not showing up as the graphics adapter. I fixed the problem by inserting my windows support software CD a second time. I did not let it use auto run.  I went into the Windows 7 directory and then into the Nvidia directory and ran setup.exe. This installed the Nvidia drivers for me. If this works correctly, you will have an Nvidia control panel available to you. I set the resolution to 2880x1800. I also set windows to 200% magnification.
I think what happens is that after you install windows, and then run the windows support CD, the main boot camp setup script seems to stop on the nvidia driver install--everything else installed correctly.

  • Windows XP on Mac Mini and some graphics problems

I used BootCamp 1.4 to run a Windows Xp on my mac mini. Everything seemed fine, I installed the Bootcamp Window drivers. There is some problem, however, when I launch games. Screen Resolution is set on 1680x1050 pixels (Apple Display 20"), but when I open a game the screen is shrinked to a small box with resolution no more then 640x480 pixels. Graphics on games is OK, high details, fine rendering, but I can't understand why is the screen so small.
I've downloaded the latest Intel graphics video driver for 945 chipset, but still the problem resist.
    Thanks to everybody in advance.

Hi Alex. When started a game, it should open at fullscreen, no matter what the resolution is. The problem with my games is that this box I am talking is the whole screen!
I tried to uninstall the video driver and rebooted. Without graphic drivers Windows loaded in the same small box (screen). Than I installed the drivers again and restarted. On the next start the video resolution was ok (1680x050) and it was fullscreen. I'm pointing out this because I think that problem is not only about the games, but it is something connected with the drivers, the hardware or the video card..
That's why I am asking for help.
    Thank you.

  • Intel hd graphics on windows 7 problem

boot camp support software does not contain driver for intel hd graphics 3000 for windows.
I have the early 2011 macbook pro 15" which has intel hd grapics 3000 and amd radeon hd 6490M.
I've installed windows 7 home premium 64-bit in my macbook pro.
now my video memory in windows is just 240 MB.
    I use windows for gaming.
but video memory here is too low for good performance.
I downloaded a driver from intel official site.
But when i try to install it says "system does not meet the minimum requirements".
But my system has all requirements it asked for.:(
Someone please help me get a solution.
Give me the direct link through which i can download driver for my intel hd graphics.
Does apple provide a direct driver download of intel graphics for windows.??
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Pls help me out.

    ya you are right.
but will aplle give some updates for installing drivers of intel hd graphics on windows.
its because i use the graphics card only for gaming but mac doesn't support much games and i'm in India so the shops rarely have games for mac for sale.
so i'm forced to do gaming in mac this makes me to need high graphics in windows but the video memory of the radeon graphics low for gaming .
    so this makes me annoying.
i hope to get the best from apple's side.
thanks in advance to apple if they give a driver update for intel hd graphics on windows.

  • Graphic problem with OSX Lion - freezing all windows

I try to define my graphic problem with OSX Lion. Simply if you have set for example hot cornes and switch between desktop, all windows etc. the move of switchng windows i chopping and freezing. I dont idea why, but it hapennig since I installed Windows 7 via bootcamp. But the problem is still here after I remove Windows. Cleaning cash doesnt work. Can anybody help me please?

No, it's not Lion. It may be something you installed. If you just bought it you could also take it back to the Apple Store and they may be able to help.

  • Very slow graphics on Windows XP

I've just ontalled Boot Camp and the windows xp professional on my MacBook Pro (mid 2010 2.66 GHz Core i7, 8 GB Ram).
All seems to work vell BUT the graphics in Windows is EXTREMELY slow (unaceptable) when une 100% graphic acceleration and definitively SLOW (just acceptable) when reducing to zero the acceleration.
Now I'm going to install a program (simulator) that needs fast graphics and it refuse to run because it detects a too slow graphics performance of the system.
This one is a new installation of Boot Camp since I've upgraded to a new 750 GB hard disk and I had to reinstall all Windows from scratch; in the previous disk I had no problem with the same Windows and (as far I remember) the same installation.
Is there anyone that can help me? Is there any new Boot Camp version around? I've just upgraded to Mac OS Lion, but it seems that Lion does not have nothing to do.

I would have moved to Windows 7, better support for i7 and of course 64-bit / 8GB, seriously.
I am not sure but guessing it has Nvidia 3xxM (Mobility)
    Verde Driver v267.24 BETA
    267.24
    March 1, 2011
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx
And yes, the latest beta. Though with XP I am never 100% certain, and use to be modified drivers such as from Laptop2go had to be used, I think that is less an issue; though one person recently said they had to use very old 18x.xxx driver on their system.
Windows 7 has better driver support today.

IMNSHO, always go with a 64 bit OS.  With Win 7 32 you will probabaly be able to use all of your RAM, but if you add more RAM at some point you won't be able to use it without going to a 64 bit OS.
A 32 bit system can address 4G of address space but Windows tends to reserve the top 1G (more or less) for addressing installed (and future) peripheral devices and graphics card RAM.  Any RAM above ~3G simply goes to wast.

  • Major graphics problems, 7300 GT

    Hello.
I have a white 24" iMac with the Intel Core 2 Duo and the 7300 GT graphics card. Upgraded to Leopard and 3 GB RAM.
About a year ago I started experiencing graphical problems while doing things that involved a lot of GPU activity, like playing a 3D game in Windows. Textures would become discolored and corrupted to the point of not being able to play the game. After letting the computer sit for a while it seemed the issues would be alleviated, but the same symptoms would recur after running the game for a while.
I eventually began to notice similar issues occur during much less demanding usage in OS X. Graphical glitches would appear on the desktop and in active windows. When the glitches got especially severe the display would freeze and the system would have to be rebooted to be usable again.
This seemed like a heat related issue, to me. I took the computer apart and cleaned the dust out all of the ducts and fans, but it didn't seem to help at all. I installed an application called smcFanControl, which allowed me to force the fans to run at a faster speed. While running faster, the glitches stopped occurring and the system would no longer freeze.
Things were okay this way for several months, but now, even with smcFanControl set to run the fans as fast as they can go, the glitches are beginning to occur again. Entire windows become discolored with a cyan hue, and random artifacts show up in random places on the display.
Here are some shots to demonstrate what is happening:
    http://horseface.org/iMac/1.png
    http://horseface.org/iMac/2.png
    http://horseface.org/iMac/3.png
iStat pro doesn't indicate anything shocking as far as temperatures go. During all of this glitchy madness, here's what it's showing:
    http://horseface.org/iMac/temp.png
Note that the fan speeds are way high, but, again, that's because I'm forcibly raising them with smcFanControl. Interestingly, though, even when I'm not running smcFanControl, the temperatures seem to hover in a safe area. In spite of this, I'm almost certain it's a heat related issue. When I first installed smcFanControl and increased the speed of the fans, the iMac went from freezing and glitching on a daily basis to totally normal operation. There also appears to be a direct correlation between intensive usage and the glitching/freezing issue.
I have already installed all of the seemingly relevant OS X updates that I can find along with all of the other suggested updates. Nothing has helped, aside from smcFanControl.
So, my question is, what can I do about this? My computer is no longer under warranty. I'd rather not have to take it to Apple and have them charge me for the initial consultation and then whatever hardware replacement is required along with the cost of out-of-warranty service. I have already opened and disassembled this computer while trying to clean it. While it was a very daunting task the first time around (I really wish this iMac were as nicely designed internally as the first G5 iMacs!), I'm comfortable enough to go ahead and do it again, if necessary.
My educated guess here is that there is something wrong with the video card. Perhaps the onboard temperature sensor is bad, and that's why it's reporting safe operating temperatures but is behaving as if it were overheating? I'm not really sure.
Would it be wise to try to replace the video card? This seems to be the obvious next step to me, but, unfortunately, the prices I'm finding for the replacement parts are pretty outrageous. ApplePalace.com lists the 7300 as $188 and the 7600 $231. Is there anywhere I can get a replacement for less? Is this even likely to fix the problem? I really don't want to make such an investment and have it turn out that it's not going to help.
I don't know what to do. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried running Apple Hardware Test?
Your guess is most likely correct of it being the graphics card. I have a friend with the exact same computer same problem. It's not an over heating issue. A component is supposed to operate within certain values and certain temperature ranges. If a part has gone bad or is going bad it may not be able to produce those values at the temperature required. Maybe it can still operate within spec at a lower temperature. Even though temperature appears to be the indicator this does not actually mean the device is over heating rather the part is failing.
I have only been able to find one website that you can purchase the replacement graphics cards for this particular iMac and yes it's a bit pricey. My friend was quoted by the Mac Guys for about $250 including installation for the 7600GT card. Replacing the graphics card is really your only option unless you want to junk it and buy a new machine.

  • TouchSmart 600-1050 - Graphics Problem with MS Outlook

I have a TouchSmart 600-1050. When I open MS Outlook, and then open the Calendar in a separate window, the window opens as non-maximized and everything is fine. When I maximize the window (I start in Week view), the tasks below each day do not stretch to fit their now wider column. It's as if the graphics don't recalculate for that screen element. Once I am maximized and see the problem, I have to switch to another view (e.g. Month or Day) and back to Week and it will fix itself. Feels like a graphics problem, underpowered chipset or bug in driver (?).
This was not a problem on my HP Desktop I had before, and it is not a problem on my 3 year old Lenovo ThinkPad X60. All are running W7 and using Office 2007.
Any ideas? The graphics driver is up to date according to HP Update and Device Manager.
    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I tried both of your suggestions and the issue occurred in both. I've never noticed the sub-content not maximizing properly in other apps, but haven't tested thoroughly.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    - Should I checked a different way to see if I have the latest drivers?
    - Is there any way for me to upgrade my 600-1050 with the graphics card in the 600-1055? The 1050's "Mobile PCI Express Module" is open/available. Could I buy the nVidia GeForce GT 230 that comes with the 1055 and hook that up?
Only reason I suggest this is that the graphics seem sluggish to update at times.
    Thanks.
