T400/T500: Are there horizontal USB ports?

Are there only vertical USB ports on the T400 and T500?

I have just had issues connecting certain peripherals, i.e. USB flash drives and USB Wireless keyboard receivers.
I usually have no issues when these peripherals are connected one at a time. However, when I try to add something else, I then have to look at USB extension cables.
There had been a discussion on this issue a few months ago, with other users facing similar challenges. I will see if I can find the link.
Looking at the competition, it seems like horizontal USB ports are the industry standard.

  • Where are the front USB ports on the HP Envy 700-210 Desktop?

I bought the Envy 700-210 desktop because it has so many USB ports.   However, I can only find 8 - 2 on top and 6 in the back.   According to the specifications, there are supposed to be some in the front.   Do I have to take something apart to find them?
    Thanks.

    VJR-Savannah, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer.  If you look at the picture of the computer in the link, I believe that the front cover below the Red band slides down to expose the USB ports.  This is how it works on my Envy 810-135qe.

  • Are both the USB ports the same? (MBP 15" 2.2 Ghz)

I am trying to use an external HDD (not powered) on the left USB port but the drive fails to load. A memory stick and mouse connect to this port work fine. The port on the right works just fine.
Is there a difference between the left and right USB ports?

Although both ports should be identical this is a problem others have reported (including myself.) Devices that require all the power the USB port is capable of providing may only work on the right side port. This may be especially the case with external drives. There is no fix for this except to only use the right side port for an external drive.

  • Are there any usb to parallel converter cables that work with iMac 10.6?

Have a Brother HL-5340D with damaged USB port, can I connect with a usb to parallel converter cable and have it work?

If you try to tweak the dock with third party software, that will corrupt the Dock preferences. Better to leave well enough alone.

  • How do I send the iPhoto events from my iMac to my iPad when the two devices are connected by USB port?

I connected my iPad to my iMac via USB port.  I want to send my iPhoto events/files to my iPad.  I cannot find the right instructions.  It appears to me that the iPad sync only transmits data from the iPad to the iMac, but I am trying to send iPhotos from the iMac to the iPad.  Do I use export or sync?

You need to use iTunes to sync photos.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Select Photos from the menu. Click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

  • Why are there horizontal faded images streaking across my 4S screen?

This happens when I use my phone for more than five minutes while browsing the internet or watching any video. This obviously makes it very hard to look at after awhile. I've tried everything I could think of. I shut it off, I reset and restored from the iCloud, I did a DFU restore at the Apple Store. This particular iPhone was given to me in August, after I paid the $199 to swap out one I broke. The replacement one I bought (this phone) came with a 90 day warranty and, of course, this problem presented itself two weeks after that warranty was up. There is no physical damage to the phone, as I bought an Otterbox Defender for this phone since I had to pay the price last time I dropped my phone. Is there any advice or help anyone has? Two different Apple Stores refused to swap out my phone, even though I essentially paid 200 dollars for three months of a phone, which then turned out to be defective. Thank you very much.
P.S. Sorry the pictures are low-res, I had to take them with another phone, as the lines do not show up when taking screenshots.

This doesn't sound like a software problem, especially the horizontal lines. I would take it to the nearest Apple Store or call AppleCare to have it repaired.

  • Why are there horizontal lines flowing threw my video?

After I play back what I have captured, every few seconds a line will flow up through the screen. Does it have to do with how I captures it or how it was recorded? It was recorded on Hi-8 16 bit and captured with the DV-NTSC anamorphic setting. Thanks for your help! Jen

So I just played the other tape that was recorded in the same camera and there were no lines running thru it, just the other tape, so I guess it was recorded that way!
Now that I've got ya, I have another question(if you have time!) I captured both of these tapes with the easy set-up setting of DV-NTSC anamorphic(from HI-8 16 bit), the first tape was actually recorded in widescreen, but the second one wasn't but I forgot to switch the setting back before I captured it, so now it looks widescreen. Is there a way to re-capture it with the correct setting but not having to redo all of the logging(ins and outs) all over agian? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks, jen

  • Is there a usb port to download files from another person

I want to know if I can download a file from storage device inot an ipad?

You'll need to look into some sort of internet/web based file sharing. Dropbox, etc.
Also, if you don't have an app to read the file then it won't do you much good. FOr example, if you want to share a word document between devices, both devices need to be able to open the word document - because you don't save the file to your iPad to be opened, you 'send' it to an app that can open it.

  • USB port does not work with a screen

    Dear All,
My manager has a MacNook Air 10.8 and he is using a large 27'' Apple screen.
He connects the screen to the MacBook Air with a cable which has 3 connections (USB, power, Tundetoh)
He reported to me, that some time, he connect a mouse or a keabord to the USB, at the back of the screen, the two devise does not work, while it works when the devise are connected to USB port of the MacBook Air.
His Macbook Air software are uptodate.
Does you know how to make working the USB devise connect to the screen?
And what does make those trouble?
    Cheers

  • USB Ports work Intermittantly on Pavilion Notebook

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-2270us Entertainment Notebook PC that is running Windows 7. The USB ports seem to work intermittantly. There are two regular USB ports on the left hand side and one on the right. I have an iPhone, Adidas miCoach, and wireless mouse that I usually have plugged in, and lately nothing is recognized.
Sometimes I get an error that the USB device is not recognized, sometimes I get nothing at all as though the ports aren't even there.
I have tried taking out the battery, replacing and rebooting. I have also tried uninstalling the USB Root Hub, and then the Root Hub plus controllers. When I did this it seemed like it worked - I plugged my mouse in and it worked! I plugged my iPhone in and now nothing works again.
I have Norton 360 Installed (in case that is an issue), and I also have some old Sony Ericksson software that I've recently uninstalled because someone told me that it wreaked havoc on their machine in terms of their device drivers.
The laptop is just out of warranty (Dec 2010) so this is a relatively new machine. But I love all my gadgets and need to be able to use them all!

Right Click on all devices which are recognized as unknown and Choose Uninstall one by one.
Please ensure you also do this for any and every item under Universal serial bus controllers as well. After this restart your computer and you should be good to go.

  • Installed a new USB port, and cannot connect

    Hello Everyone.
I have a Dell computer which runs Windows XP. It's USB ports are 1.1. I installed a new USB 2.0 port (from IOGear), but I still cannot get the iPod to sync with iTunes. When I called IOGears tech support line, they said that iPods are not compatable with their USB ports. Is there any work around for this, or is there another USB port that is compatable with iPod. Any information will help.
    Thanks,
    Drew

    Hello Drew,
Don't worry, you can can still use your ipod with usb 1.1. What I do know that happens for sure is that you may have slow transfer speeds. Try this and also try connecting your ipod to a usb 1.1, does it charge?

  • Issue with USB ports and Blue Screen

So, I had to send my Satellite L355-S7905 back and Toshiba had to do a factory restore.  I got it back 2 weeks ago and now I have a new problem; 2-3 times a day my mouse and printer stops working, these are connected via USB ports and I get a message that the device is no longer recognized.  I found a solution on the Microsoft site to go to Device manager and Scan for new hardware changes and then Restart.  I do this and when I restart I get the dreaded blue screen.  So I then have to unplug, take out the battery and turn the computer back on.  Then the mouse and printer are recognized.  This will work for several hours and then the whole thing happens again.  So, are there any long term solutions?  Can anyone tell my why this is happening?  Please note, that that the printer and mouse are not new and no new hardware has been installed since getting it back from the factory.
    Thank you for your help!!
    Jennifer

start-->control panel-->system and security-->device manager-->expand the universal serial bus controllers-->right click and uninstall all of the USB root hubs-->restart-->they will reinstall on restart, and search for attached hardware.

  • Too few USB ports

I use an iMac G5 with bluetooth keyboard and wifi trackball. Consequently there are only three USB ports available. I use a powered hub, but an increasingly large number of external items refuse to use the hub and insist on using the three iMac ports, one of which is taken up by the hub! As this is not a new problem I wondered if over the years people have discovered a way round, such as a hub which is not rejected by items such as my hp printer, fujitsu scan snap, or my new Seagate external hard drive. Alternatively has any software been written that would fool the products into thinking that the hub was one of the sockets on the iMac?

I use an Asante hub, which I have had for several years, it has no brick, just plugs straight into the wall. All my peripherals, including my printer, my EyeFi etc. etc. play perfectly well with it. It may be that your hub is failing, but on the face of it, there's no reason your peripherals shouldn't work, although there are some that specifically insist that you use the computer and not a hub. As long as they don't specify that, they should work. However, telling you that they should work isn't helpful. Try getting another hub, they aren't very expensive, and see if it works. If it doesn't, you can always return it.

  • High Speed USB Ports

Every time I plug my iTouch into my PC, I get a notice that I should use a high speed USB.  Yet, there are only three USB ports on the laptop and all of them trigger the same alert.  What am I missing?  Are the high speed USB ports attached to the Docking Station?

What kind of Thinkpad do you got (for example T61, Type/model: 4236-3EG) and what OS do you use?
Did you always have this problem or something that started recently? Did you also try other USB devices that give the same error?
