T400: Touchpad Manufacturer Is? Zoom Possible?

On a T400,  who is the manufacturer of the touchpad?
How can I enable the touchpad zoom function (to make text bigger or smaller on a webpage) which is ostensibly activated by placing two fingers on a (Synaptic) touchpad and moving the fingers together or apart?
I am using a Linux operating system.   Currently Ubuntu.
An internet search has led me to find numerous instances of people trying to disable the zoom function.    Apparently it is inadvertantly activated too easily and disrupts their viewing experience.      It is called, in some quarters: Pinch Zoom.     This isn't working on the touchpad of the T400 I recently acquired, and I could use it--as the text on most web pages is generally too small for me to easily read.

Graphics is built into the motherboard.
Can only upgrade with new motherboard.
Only a few laptops have graphics cards that can be up graded. "Like Alienware"
Good luck.

  • T400s touchpad replacement part-number

Hi, the touchpad on my t400s (2801-cto) does not work any more.  Does anybody knows the part number for the touchpad ?
I have looked under my palmrest and the touchpad is glued.  The fingerprint reader is still working fine.
I have seen on eBay new palmrest with no touchpad nor fingerprint reader, so I am assuming that there must be a part numer for just the touchpad.
    Thanks.

  • Hp 4510s probook - touchpad pinch--to-zoom disable

As the subject descibes... I'm trying to figure out how to disable the "pinch-to-zoom" on HP 4510s ProBook.
It's extremely annoying to be zooming in/out while typing in (e.g. MS Word) if I accidently touch the touchpad with my thumb(s). I'm not looking for adjusting the sensitivity of the touchpad. I have done that. I'm looking for completely disabling the feature.
Any suggestions or a link to a manual would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

Hello vasheck, Fortunately, it is relatively easy to configure your touchpad to suit your preferences.
To start, open up the Control Panel from the Start menu. Then, change to "Classic View" (Vista) or change icon display to "Small icons" (Windows 7).
Double-click on "Mouse", and the Mouse Properties dialog will open up.
Click the "Device Settings" tab. Under the list of Synaptics devices installed on your system, click the "Settings..." button.
Now, the touchpad configuration window will appear.
Use this to configure your touchpad to work the way you want, there are lots of settings and videos on how to use them in this dialog, so feel free to explore.
If you want to disable pinch-to-zoom, you can do it by navigating to the "Pointer Motion -> Pinch" category or Zooming category (depending on the version of your driver).
Once you've got to the Zooming / Pinch Zoom option, simply uncheck it and click OK to disable pinch zoom.
Other settings, such as sensitivity, can be found here. Basically, every option relating to the operation of your touchpad can be found in this configuration tool. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

  • T400 (2765/21G) W2008 x64 possible ?

    Hello Forum,
i have Windows 2008 (x64) installed on my T400. The Installation runs without any Problems.
After the Installation, i tried out to install and configure the WLAN Driver.
The Installation works without any Mistake. The WLAN-Card is shown in the Device Manager with no Marks, but through the search for avaible Networks, there where no Networks found. The Problemfinder says: Something wrong with the Device Driver or the Configuration of the TCP/IP Protocol is wrong.
So normaly, i think the Vista Driver are compatible to W2008 and they have to work. I searched the I-Net incl. Intel.com for other Driver, especialy designed for W2008 without success.
So, maybe one of you have succsessful installed W2008 on an T400 with all needed Device Drivers. I´m looking for Tips and maybe the Links for functional Drivers.
    Can Anyone help please ?
    Greetings Ralf

bluetooth might be tricky.   if the vista 64 driver doesn't work then you might be out of luck.   try downloading the driver from lenovo and installing it manually.
if the 4-in-1 card reader didn't install automatically then you'll need to search windows update or the vendor's website (ricoh, perhaps?).
the fingerprint sensor might work with a driver from UPEK.   try their website.
running 2008 on the newer thinkpads is tricky as not all of the devices have compatible drivers.   google, windows update, and manufacturer's websites are your best bet.   some devices you may have to live without.   after all, it is a server OS.
    good luck!

  • T400s Fingerprint Manufacturer ? (please!)

    Hi,
I've been trying to get this from local Lenovo contacts for a couple of weeks - thank you - if anyone can help:
Who manufacturers the fingerprint readers in the Lenovo T400s Thinkpad ?
I would like to use some login authentication software - with the reader - and the supplier has asked this question.
There are some signs that the fingerprint reader might be manufactured by UPEK - but I'm not sure.
You'd think - with all the attention on security issues these days - that this information would be pretty readily available.
    Thanks for any help !

Hi kpoots, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
A quick check of the T400s fingerprint software installer reveals that it is a UPEK device.

  • Is Copy Paste Pans & Zooms Possible in Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor Slideshow?

In the Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor, someone wants to create a unique pan and zoom effect for one photo and be able to apply it the the rest of the photos in the Filmstrip without having to do that on an individual photo basis.
In the Slide Show Editor, Edit Menu/Apply Pan & Zoom to All Slides or Apply Pan & Zoom to Selected Slide(s) does not get the job done. Instead it looks like it just applies the default Photoshop Elements pan and zoom. I have investigated several routes to the goal unsuccesful and have concluded that Photoshop Elements Slide Show Editor offers no such copy paste pans & zoom feature.
I have detailed how to add more than one pan & zoom per slide, how to get the pan & zoom copy/paste job done in Premiere Elements, either doing all the pan & zoom in Premiere Elements or creating the pan & zoom in Photoshop Elements for one slide, using Send to Premiere Elements, Break Apart Adobe Photoshop Elements Slideshow, copy/paste of the transferred pan & zoom. Believe it or not, that does work. I know that there will be skeptics who feel that the pan & zoom timing would be distored, but....This person does not have or want Premiere Elements in the equation. So, I am looking for a way out for her.
I am posting the question here for someone to confirm my conclusion or offer a way that has escaped me. If someone has found a way, he/she will be fully created for the contribution and thanked.

Copy and past funtionaliy is not available  in pan & zoom feature. Please do a feature request.

  • [Potentially Solved] Touchpad sometimes not detected possible IRQ.

    Edit:
Potentially solved: since adding the below entries to my bootloader I have not encountered the issue, or it may be just a coincidence.
append to the boot line: i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset
I've been experiencing an issue for the last few years which has bugged me across two different brands of laptop, but has been very hard to debug due to how random the event seems to occur.
One in every 20 or so boots, the touchpad on my laptop (Lenovo Z500) is not detected; not just by X, but by the system as a whole, it's as if it has been physically disconnected somehow.
It will take a few good reboots for the system to detect it again, and the problem disappears for another few days/weeks
One strange thing I have noticed, is that when looking at the listing of interrupts during a 'failed touchpad boot', IRQ 12, which I believe is normally the touchpad, has vanished.
I'm not very clued up on these matters so I'm not sure how to start debugging this, and working out if the issue is down to my setup of the system or not.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    Thanks.

    Hi gav989,
welcome to the forums. Please have a look at our forum etiquette, esp. at the "Pasting Pictures and Code" section.
The image you posted is too big, but only slightly, so I leave it there for now. You may want to look at these screenshot posting rules as well.

  • Full screen mode AND zoom possible?

    Hi there,
it seems to me that the full screen mode is only displaying whole pages, which is on a small screen difficult to deal with. Would be nice if the full screen mode would accept the zoom factor (e.g. 200%) which I used for normal view, when going into full screen view.
Thanks for any hints if I missed something.

You could use the system zoom feature. Go to system preferences then universal access and make sure the "Zoom:" is clicked to on. Then while in full page mode you can zoom the screen by pressing command option = to zoom in and command option - to zoom out.
The resolution isn't as good but it is very readable.

  • Possible to create a rescue and recovery USB disk?

When you create rescue and recovery media, there's an option showing "USB hard disk drive". However, the target drive list is always empty. How could I get it work? I have plugged my usb-hard disk to my laptop (T400).
BTW, it's possible to create the recovery disk using my usb key?

Probably a good question for ForumNokia. If you mean start up a thread and run in the background while your MIDlet UI does other things, then sure, why not. If you mean that you want to exit your MIDlet, but leave a thread running in the background, then I don't believe you can do this on series 40. S60 is another story since it supports multiple tasks.

  • T400 Switchable Grafics won't switch

    Hello everybody,
I got a problem with my t400. It's not possible to switch between the two graficcards. The Ati 3400 is not detected by Windows 7, too.
It is a problem i know. Installing Windows again will solve it, but i am very unhappy to install windows over and over again. I tried everything. I've deleted the driver, installed it again manually and over systemupdate, but nothing happens. All I could say is, that Windows allways says, that it cannot show the basis-colorthemes. (I'm not sure. if that is the right translation)
Resetting the Bios don't work, too. The card will never be detected again.
After reinstallation the system will run with both cards, but after time the radeon will not work any longer.
So, does anyone know, why the problem appears? Because when there is an incentive, I wold deactivate it. Eeinstalling windows costs so much time.
It would be greatfull, if somebody knows how to solve the problem without reinstalling windows.
    Thanks a lot and greets
    sd jasuri

If Windows in not detecting it then its another problem.
In Device manager, do you see both graphic adapters? If not go into the BIOS and select the correct display adapter just select discrete for ATI since thats what you'd want anyway. Save and exit, the ATI card should be detect upon Win 7 startup. Check device manager again. You should see ATI at least if it locates a valid driver for it.

  • Can not enable touchpad on Satellite M40

A while ago I disabled my touchpad using FN+F9 so I could use an optical mouse. When I tried to switch it back on using the FN+F9 keys it wont work so I cant get it to work. Please help

    Hi
As you already said the FN+F9 key function disables the touchpad but its also possible to enable and to disable
the touchpad in the control panel -> mouse -> mouse properties -> touchpad on/off

  • Tx2 laptop touchpad has stopped working

Recently the synaptics touchpad on my tx2 1020ea laptop has spontaneously stopped working. I haven't changed anything before this issue popped up. I installed the latest touchpad drivers, and the touchpad started working again. However, after a shutdown it's back to not working again.
There appears to be two different states of non-workingness going on:
    1) touchpad is non-responsive but the button to turn the touchpad on or off is still working (going from white to orange), the touchpad shows up correctly in device manager etc. but touchpad doesn't work.
    2) where I am now, touchpad still isn't working but  the on/off button isn't working either. To make matters stranger in control panel>mouse under the synaptics tab, nothing shows up, everything is greyed out. The Hardware tab in mouse settings shows:
    HID-compliant mouse
    Manufacturer: micorsoft
Location: on  Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver (I know this ain't right)
Status: this device is working properly
I'm going to uninstall/re-install the synaptics drivers again, but I'm guessing the same thing will occur, touchpad working till i reboot the computer.
    Any thoughts?

So I've been waiting for a reply that hasn't come but today something new and equally bewildering has happened, I restarted my laptop as my touchscreen had stopped working, as it frequently does. After the restart the touchscreen is working again, but for the first time in 2 weeks the synatpics ps/2 touchpad has appeared back in the device manager.
    Synaptics PS/2 port touchpad
    Manufacturer: Synaptics
Located on: Plugged into PS/2 mouseport
Status: This device is working properly
The synaptics icon also show in my taskbar, the synaptics tab on mouse settings is longer greyed out. It looks like its back to working as it should.
But it isn't, the on/off button has started working again, but the touchpad itself still does not register anything, it's still deader than Elvis, anyone have any ideas what's wrong. Of course this problem would only rear its head 4 weeks after my warranty expired, go figure.

  • Satellite P840 Win8 - touchpad intermittently stop responding

Hi, I've had my new laptop for 24 hours, and I've experienced twice a situation whereby the touchpad stops responding permanently, requiring the machine to be reboot (which "resolves" the problem). In addition to that, I've been experiencing intermittent freezes in response for about 3-4 seconds, then it starts responding again.
It's brand spanking new, so this is pretty disappointing. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, is there a fix that doesn't involve returning the unit?
    Cheers,
    Pete

    Hi
Did you notice the same using a connected USB mouse?
Im asking this because from my point of view the touchpad or the system could freezes for some seconds because of stressed CPU.
In many cases the system doesnt response because some processes running in the background stresses the CPU and this leads to such system freezing.
I would not be worry about that check if the system is up to date and if all updates are installed.
In case this issue would not be related to the mentioned background process, try to update the touchpad driver.
Check the Toshiba EU driver page in order to get the latest touchpad driver or visit the Synaptics driver page in order to get the driver directly from touchpad manufacturer page.

  • Boot camp 3, windows 7, 13" unibody macbook and keyboard function keys....

after some screwing around (disable user access control, install tweak util to allow unsigned drivers) most features of my macbook are now working in windows 7. battery life looks abysmal as it was in vista, but i'll deal with that later.
the major glitch at this point seems to be the keyboard. the boot camp manager in the system tray has the keyboard option, which does nothing. pressing fn-f1, f2, etc does nothing except bring up help or the corresponding f-key value for windows. i manually reinstalled the apple keyboard driver, but this obviously isn't a driver issue - it's a keyboard manager issue. i notice that there is no more kbdmgr.exe in boot camp 3... at least as far as i can tell. what process is now responsible for these keyboard functions? it would be really nice to be able to eject discs, use volume, hit ctrl-alt-del, etc!!
thanks in advance to anyone who has figured this out.

to sum up: actually got 7 running, but all just to a certain extent:
Keyboard works rather well, even though the backlight cant be fully switched off in low light conditions. Low light is considered even if its still bright enough to easily read the keys labels, but thats just the same as in OSX.
The trackpad works half way, as a poorly working standard touchpad with + two finger scrolling (way too quick) + two finger right click. Tapping works, but dragging and tapping doesnt work technically (clicking a button then quickly moving the cursor is misstaken as dragging, feels inferior in recognition to other touchpads). Multitouch stuff doesnt work at all, which is a pain seeing that touchpad.
Sound quite works, but if u reboot the macbook in having the sound muted u need to reboot again with sound switched on to make the sound play through the speakers.
    CD eject seems buggy too.
Battery runs like 2,5 hours (4 hours in OS X). (Must be a driver issue, windows CAN run such a notebook for 4 hours too, just consider all those lenovo thinkpads)
Why the **** does installing Windows on a Mac feel like installing Linux on a random PC...
If anyone has solutions/hints regarding the sound or the trackpad let the world know!
Coolest thing ever would be to get synaptics drivers running with the Apple touchpad. Could be possible, since in Linux as far as i get it the macbook touchpad is driven by synaptic drivers as well. Would need some fiddling though, maybe someone manages?!
