T400 will be hang up while idle after 30 mins or more..............

I am vendor, customer reports that two of IBM T400 notebook, type 6474-RL7 have a same problem, when it's idle after 30 mins or more and need to log on , no prompt "log on screen box" , try to press "ctrl+alt+del" still no response,only mouse cursors can be move,but if less time like as 10 mins idles, it's functional have "log on screen box", I already called to Leno Technical support ,they said it's similar to software or driver problem,not a hardware
my customer software configuration is below:
windows XP sp3 not the lastest windows update patch (the original factory with nb is windows sp2 )
general software is installed: ms office 2003, IBM original software ,McAfee antivirus
what's the conflict with nb software???

You need to ask them run system update from lenovo utilities first.
Than you can check Events for system and for application from Computer managment - it might give you some indication regarding problems and abnormal activities, You click right mouse on My computer and select Manage - Computer managment will appear.

MacBook Pro really hot while idling after 10.6.6

Not sure what caused it, but definitely the update to 10.6.6.
My MacBook Pro's CPU temp is oscillating the whole time. often a few degrees C every two seconds,
it also get seriously hot.
Before the update it would idle at 50 °C, now it idles at 65°C.
Note that at this temperatures the fans are running at minimal speed (2000 rpm),
so no changes here.
Anyone else?

Same thing here. I update my late 15" 2008 unibody Macbook Pro from 10.6.4 to 10.6.6. CPU temperature used to be around 42C (using internal graphics). Now it's at 68C with no applications running, and CPU at single-digit % load. Actually, I just saw it hit 83C after opening a disk image.
I upgraded using the combo installer. I will probably downgrade back to 10.6.4 until I find a resolution to this.
(Wow-- running any app and I'm in the high 70C range.)

You should be able to clarify which object is in fact null and leads to this error. Once you found out that, you will have to care about the reason why it got null... Maybe you retrieve something from a "storage" which gets cleared like a cache or something similar.

Fax will not Hang up

Every time that I try to use the internal modem to send a fax it will not hang up the call after the fax has been sent. I have to restart my computer in order to send another fax. I used another fax program on my computer and it has no problem hanging up so I am guessing that this is a software problem and not a hardware problem. Also, this problem has only started happening this week. Any help is appreciated.

This has not been fixed in 10.4.6 either. It's the internal modem that doesn't let go, yet the telephone line is clear for phone calls.
It doesn't make a difference what kind of document you are sending, because to fax anything using the internal modem, you have to first click on Fax in the dialog box, then click on Fax PDF in the menu. That's why, if you fax a JPEG, for example, then preview it with the fax cover sheet, the title bar will read, Preview of "faxedJPEG.jpg".pdf.pdf.
Yesterday, I had to fax 5 documents. I don't fax often, but when I do need to fax, I usually have a lot of faxes coming and going, fast and furious!. I did more restarts yesterday than I've done in a year.
It made no difference if it was an individual fax, a fax with 2 numbers, or faxes in a queue. I had to restart 4 times just for 1 document with 2 CCs!.
By the way, after faxing a document, I had to restart to receive a fax, as well!
I've tried all the basic maintenance... disk utility first aid, repairing permissions, running cron scripts, trashing corrupted preference files, updating prebindings. Yet a restart, with or without maintenance, is the only thing that does the trick.
In fact, while I was restarting, I made a telephone call, and as soon as the login screen showed up, the modem started dialing while I was talking.
This is unacceptable, Apple!
Just because new Macs don't come with internal modems doesn't mean you should be dumping an essential function like this in the trash!

Dual 7916's showing blank blue screen after 30 mins. uptime

Have any of you had this experience before? I have a 7975 series phone with dual 7916's expansion modules; The phone and the expansion modules boot-up fine but after 30 mins or more of idle time, the expansion modules display screen is Blue with no programing.This setup is working fine on other phones but is an issue on two 7975's right now. I have deleted and re-added the problem phones in CUCM 9.1 replace, ALL hardware (i.e. phone, pwr cube, expansion modules etc.) and swapped all network components. See the following Specs. below:

Just covering all steps here but are the expansion modules selected within the phone configuration within CUCM? On the physical phone itself, if you press the settings button and select Status, then Expansion Modules what do you see? May have to upgrade the firmware of the 7916's.

Imp: new session for the same user if idle for 4 mins. or else throw error

I have a requirement where for security reasons if a session remains idle for 4 mins. or more, it should redirect to login page. This is easy as there is a feature in apex itself under security in application properties. This works fine.
But I also don't want the users to start two active parallel sessions for the same user, and allow user to login only if the session for the user is idle for 4mins. or more or else display error message that the user has already logged.
A second in sequence, on submit process for this in page 101 when login button is hit is written for this. It is as follows:

But for some this reason this does not work as intended. Two users can login parallely.
When I trace the program, I see that it should catch the parallel user login. But it does not.
Is it some db cache issue? I don't know.
Kindly let me know how to fix this. It is crucial for us to achieve this.

Option to keep session alive if user isn’t truly idle. Special thanks to Martin D’Souza for a great idea on how to implement this feature.
But it cannot stop a new session for a user, if there is an active (in my definition apex_workspace_activity_log.seconds_ago<240) session already running for that user.

Brand new imac 27" keeps crashing randomly in mavericks while idling, using firefox, transferring files, etc. Reformatted and reinstalled everything from scratch after 15 plus crashes a day. Crashes now only 4 times a day. Help!

Brand new imac 27" keeps crashing. I'm running 10.9.2 with all software up to date. It will crash on file tranfers to/from/between external drives, web browsing, word processing, video editing, and even while idling. It used to crash every 15 minutes when I first got it but I reformatted and reinstalled all software. Now it it still crashing albeit less often. This is extremely frustrating because I have no idea what I can do to prevent it from happening!
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm thanks for the input. Alright. I uninstalled Avast. Was good for an hour or so. I was doing some file browsing and crashed again. Got this message.

try to press the sleep/wake button + home button at the same time and hold them until the apple logo appears. that should help.

HT1212 ipod says ipod disabled connect to itunes ive turned it on while holding sleep & a music symbol with a usb cord end is the only thing thay appears when it turns back on if i let go of the home button it will after a min go back to the off position

My ipod is saying ipod disabled connect to itunes I have followed the instructions givin in the support section I leave the usb plugged in PC & unplug ipod I turned device off & than held the home button while plugging the ipod back into the cord when it comes back on it shows the itunes music note symbol apears with itunes written below it & the picture of a usb cord end pointing toward it with an arrow but that is as far as it will go it stays on that screen unless I unplug the device & after a min or so the ipod will go back to the off position.

If you're referring to the proximity sensor blanking the screen, and you haven't made any other changes such as a screen protector or new case, try the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide, Appendix B:
Restart, Reset, Restore using a backup. Restore as new.

IMovie11 hangs, freezes while generating thumbnails

Often after importing MiniDV tapes using iMovie11 the progress bar for generating thumbnails gets to a certain point and then stops. It will remain this way for over a day unless I Force Quit the application.
The event directory and thumbnail directory of the imported tape do not show any recently created files after a while.
A search on the internet revealed one workaround - delete any zero-byte DV files that iMovie creates and reload iMovie.This worked for a couple of tapes but now I am stuck while importing other tapes.
I am not using Stabilization.
As of this writing, I may have narrowed the problem down to the number of DV files that iMovie creates. For some reason, with those other tapes, it creates almost 2000 such files for a simple 90-minute tape. When I delete over a 1000 of the smallest DV files iMovie will complete the generation of thumbnails.
I have not yet tested what happens if I delete over a 1000 of the largest DV files.
If I import the same tape twice, the two imports will produce a different number of DV files, the difference is in the hundreds but both data sets are still too large for iMovie11 to generate thumbnails from.
I have tried using two different camcorders for importing those other tapes without positive results.
I have a new low-end Mac Pro with the OS present as of Oct of last year (when I bought the computer), 8GB of RAM, 600MB of free disk space, and I use a Firewire adapter to convert the 400 mbps connection coming out of the camcorders to the 800 mbps connection integral to my Mac Pro.
I have tried powering down and back up to remove variables involving the OS and Firewire interface.
I have no other movie projects or events present in iMovie when I conduct my imports.
How do I get iMovie11 to stop hanging, freezing while it generates thumbnails?

Absolutely has to be a bug. This isn't a setting or configuration problem. It might even be a Snow Leopard problem. I had the same problems with A2.1.4 on SL as I do with version A3.0.1. Export hangs seem to happen on images that came from my A2 library that was imported into A3 but originally adjusted in A2. These images were imported from scanned TIFF files. If the adjustment mechanism was flawed in prior Aperture versions then Apple needs to create and distribute a utility that converts these images into something that A3 can use.
I will have to revert to A2 running on Leopard until Apple can get this fixed. If I cannot export, there is no point in running the software. On this discussion thread, we are just trying to fly by flapping our arms.

Qosmio F55 - Freezing after 20 min idle

Hi and sorry for my English,
When I use it, everything is ok, but after 20 min idle it's hanging, ctrl,alt del no respond, only way to switch off is power button.
I changed VGA driver, disable hard disk switch off, disable screen server, run RAM check, still the same problem.
Any idea what is the problem?

It is not easy to say why this happen. We can just speculate why this happen and your answer can be yes or no.
Maybe you should install Vista again using Toshiba recovery image. Test it with clean preinstalled OS.
I am pretty sure after doing this your notebook wills works well and you will not be faced with freezing issues.
What do you think about it?

Time Capsule hangs in initial backup after having deleted all data.

Hi,
I'm having a big problem trying to set up my time capsule after deleting all data on it again.
In the beginning the problem was that I have used the time capsule as a file server and a backup volume. I guess it was the main problem was that the disk was full and time machine had no more place to backup any longer.
So I always got an error that the time machine had a problem to backup.
I decided to delete all data on time capsule and start from the beginning.
After deleting all data and trying to start from zero, Time Machine is trying to initiate the backup.
But nothing more happens. It seems to hang up while initiating. I tried to delete the disc several times but the problem is still occuring.
Maybe you had the same difficulties and found a solution?

same here although I get to "finishing Backup" and then mine hangs and it can be hard to shut down. I discovered the only way I could get it to stop once was to launch Disk Utility and eject the sparsebundle listed there. I have no backups at all.I will call Apple on Monday and see if they have anything floating around there that might fix us. I will report back-If you make any progress please let us know here! We will get this thing working I am sure of it!

T400 will be hang up while idle after 30 mins or more..............
