T400 wireless card help

Hi all,
My T400 lately has been having problems with its wireless. It used to just be that the computer would some times randomly drop me and say there were no connections nearby when I had been connected to my home internet for a few hours in a row. A restart would fix this.
However, in the last few days, it's been happening more and more frequently. If i hit Fn+F5, it would only show my bluetooth, but no option to activate my wireless antenna (it IS on btw). Checking the device manager, the wireless card is not visible, and some times upon hitting refresh and re-search for hardware, it shows up again, only to intermittantly drop out of visibility on the device manager again and back on.
My computer is less than 6 months old (got it in December), does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

go into your control panel, system, device manager and right click on the wireless card and select property.
Under the property page, select maximum power output, switch off any power saving feature and select roaming aggressiveness to low.

  • T400 wireless card

I bought a T400 notebook a couple of days ago. When I got it, I realized I made a mistake by not choosing wireless card for the notebook. I was not able to find a solution for this. Please help me figure out what to do to make up my mistake. Thanks a lot!

I had similar problems with my T400, the status light would switch off and the adapter would completely disappear from device manager. Turns out it was a faulty wireless card, got it replaced and the computer is running fine now. You could try and swap out your card with a working one and see if that helps.

I have a Powerbook G4 Ti. 867 Ghz that doesnt have a wireless card. I was wondering what kind of wireless card that I need to have wireless capabilities. I was also confused about what drivers I need for each different card.
    Thanks

here is the specs page for you computer.

it came with an optional Airport Card. there are 2 different airport cards.
the regular " Airport" and "Airport Extreme" . you will be needeing the regular one. You will not be able to find one of these on the Apple Store Online. your best bet is to find a 3rd party reseller that still has some.

Just disable the gameport on "Device Manager" to see if it's the culprit.
Have you also played with mouse settings (acceleration and saple rate)?

  • Wireless Adapter Card Help.

I recently moved back to my parents house after living away at university for a year, since then they have changed the ISP from AOL Broadband to BT Infinity and I found my wireless card doesn't seem to be compatible. Whenever I turn my PC on I don't know if I'll be able to get an internet connection and if I do it'll only last about an hour, at which point it disconnects and won't reconnect until I restart my computer.
I need some help to see if anyone knows why it's doing this and if it is a problem with the card can anyone suggest a good wireless card.
I need a card compatible with my PC Specs, BT infinity and good enough for online gaming e.g. World of Warcraft, League of Legends etc.
    PC Specs:
    Motherboard: ASRock K10N78FullHD-hSLI
    CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor 3.00 Ghz
    Graphics Card: GeForce 9400 GT
    RAM: 4GB
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit
I have tried two wireless cards both were TP Links, though I can't remember the model, and neither have worked with my internet.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi,
As you have already tried two cards and neither work buying a third without confirming that it is your WiFi card causing the problem may be a waste of time and money. If possible i would try to use one of the cards you are having issues with in another computer and confirm you get the same issue. Ideally try this with the PC in the same place as the problem one and also try it in the same room as your home hub. If you card works on the other machine then some more investigaion would be needed to find out what is causing the problem on your PC.
If you just want to buy something new then i have found this pair to work well together, the connection is very stable, the Antenna is optional, but has helped me get even more range out of the card.
    TP-Link TL-WN951N Advance Wireless N PCI Adapter
    TP-Link TL-ANT2405C 2.4Ghz 5dbi Indoor Omni-Directional Antenna
I bought the pair of these off Amazon for just under £30, so not the cheapest but they have worked well for me.
A brief look at your motherboard spec suggests it has the required PCI slot, but i'll leave that to you to double check

  • Wireless Card Upgrade Help!

    Hello,
First post so be gentle with me! I need some help upgrading my wireless card on my Compaq nx6310 laptop. I have the original card in there since new and I now have a much faster fibre connection with a Hauwei HG533 wireless router so I understand if I upgrade the wireless card to an all singing all dancing 802.11 b/g/n one I can connect at a faster speed. I´m running XP Home SP3. I understand the card must be a genuine HP product or on the bios whitelist but I don´t know if one is available for my kit and where I can get one. I want the best available. I have attached some pics. of the existing one.
Thank you in advance for any help......

    View Solution.

Since your interest is in upgrading to an802.11b\g\n wireless adapter  then you simplest solution is to purchase a  Type I, or Type II , or Type III  Cardbus wireless card.  You may have to look for that type of card in the preowned market.
The card plugs into the slot(s) on the left-hand of your notebook.
There are no internal network adapter currently made that will fit your notebook.
Your notebook is of a notebook generation when only 802.11 a\b\g existed and that  is what makes cardbus adapters your best option.

  • Help With Third Party Wireless Cards

Hello, I am needing some help with third party wireless cards. I have purchased and installed the Linksys WMP54G wireless PCI card into my G4. From what ive seen on the discussions page here, this card is known to work with the G4s in place of the more expensive Airport Extreme card. The only problem is that my G4 doesnt even recognize that the card is in the PCI slot. Ive tryed the other PCI slots and still nothing. Previously, i have tried using a belkin and a d-link card that have been known to work in the G4s as well, and had the same problem. I am 100% sure that the card is seated correctly, and cant think of any other reason why it shouldnt detect that something is in the slot. If anyone can inform me what im doing wrong, or has any info on how to get it working, that would be great. Thanks for your time,

Yes, i run Digidesigns audio editing program called Protools on my Mac. It uses a PCI card to import mic/line audio signals into the program from the hardware interface. I tried moving the Digidesign card and putting the wireless card in the same slot, and still nothing, although the Digidesign card works fine in the other slots. Each time i moved the Digidesign card, it showed up in the different slots, although the ones that were open did not show up at all. Only the PCI slots that are in use show up in ASP on my machine. I have the FW-800 version of the G4, so im not sure if that makes any difference. I have never erased the PRAM before, would you be able to give me directions on how to do that? Thanks a ton for your help. =)

  • Help Laptop Cannot Detect my Wireless Card Satellite L305 S5946

So I had to re-install windows to fix a couple of issues I was having. I currently have everything working except now this laptop is not registering that it has a wireless card. I can connect through ethernet and it shows that connection, but it shows no device for the wireless connection and will not read any wireless networks. THe only thing I have under Network Connections in Device Manager is for the Realtek RTL 8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC NDIS 6.0. Also under Manage Connections, it shows only a Lan Connection for wired connection. Anyone have any ideas? This laptop is running vista currently. Any help would be appreciated, I am completely stumped at this point. Thanks! (PS yes I know there is a button to turn wireless on and off, and it is currently switched to on and the light is lit up for wireless)

I checked a couple things. On your computer you can turn off the LAN in the Bios, but not the wireless card. Your computer came with an Athros 802.11b/g card. And the computer should be seeing it. But if it isn't, try reinstalling the driver. Or have a technician look at the computer and verify that the card is there and not half out of the slot or damaged.

  • Can you change T400 wireless network card??

I am eyeing a used T400 but it comes with an older a/g wireless card- Can I replace it with a newer draft-N pci-mini card internally?  Will it integrate well? Any particular brand to use?

    @ortegaluis,
Thanks.  The question remains (in my little pea-brain anyway) is the card white-listed by MFGR and model, or does it have to be from Lenovo?  That is, can I install an Intel 5100 from the local store, or do I have to order from big L?
    @wp746911.
Apologies for hijacking your thread.  I may be mis-reading it (wouldn't be the first time) but it would be too bad if you bought a card you couldn't use.  BTW, I have swapped Intel 5100s and 5300s (from Lenovo) in and out of my T400 and it isn't that big a deal.  Just read the manual and take your time

  • KT4AV hates Wireless Card. NewB Help

Hey all. My computer runs to perfection up until I install a wireless network card (D-LINK G520 rev.b). After installation I can get an "excellent" connection to my wireless network but my computer runs like heck and locks up constantly. Sometimes everything runs smoothly. But the instant I run too many programs or download something... I'm asking for it. It's as if I can see the network activity in my mouse movements (i.e. mouse pointer jumps as network connection jumps).
My computer is a good 25-30 feet from the wireless router so I don't want to thread any ethernet cord over.
Any insight?? I would really appreciate the help as I'm about to bash my head in with computers (My other computer's motherboard is out on RMA).
here are my computer details to the best of my knowledge:
    KT4AV MSI mobo, I haven't altered the bios... original/default version & settings
    AMD Athlon XP 1500+
F.S.B is 133MHz (??)... not to sure on that one
    512 MB RAM Kingston Aluminum
ATI RADEON 9600 Pro with version 4.6
Power supply is 330W unknown brand
Primary IDE Master is 40GB HD
Primary IDE Slave is 60GB HD
Secondary IDE Master is TDK CDRW 241040B
Secondary IDE Slave is JLMS (LiteOn) DVD-ROM
PCI Slots (other than vid card and wireless card) is the USB card that came with the mobo
    Windows XP Pro with SP1
I hope that's everything. I'm not sure how to check the core temp other than the BIOS. I have some Thermaltake heat sink monster thing (was big and expensive)... two other standard fans...
And this is my secondary computer so there's not a lot installed on here... (33GB and 57GB free respectively per HD)
    Any ideas???
    Thanks -> Mr_Self_Destruct
P.S. the fact that I made it to the end of this posting w/o a crash is remarkable!

Well there's a 400W PSU in my comp now and my computer is still running really rough. Real herky/jerky. I attempted to download something and the OS froze up almost immediately. So the PSU wasn't the solution.
And yes... I do have the latest drivers for this wireless card (just checked http://www.dlink.com).
    Any further ideas??
As I said before... I can put in an ethernet cable and the comp runs fine. But I don't want to.

  • Verizon Wireless installer for a wireless card not working. Help?

I have this wireless card from Verizon Wireless that lets me use internet anywhere i want. Its called the USB727 manufactured by Novatel Wireless. Bundled with this toy came a disc with the installer. When i tried to pop it into my iBook running OS X 10.4.11 it wouldn't begin the auto run. When I clicked the disc on my desktop i was given a .dmg file instead of the normal Verizon logo. When i opened it i was given two options the user manual and the actual installer. The installer logo was a piece of paper instead of the normal open-cardboard box. When i clicked it I'm given a window with the title folder actions setup, the setup doesn't show up.

Hi Eddie, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Not sure why it looks like that, I'd try this...
Not certain, but this can fix myriad problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then reboot & try to install.
    Found this...
The main thing is, you need to install the VZaccessmonitor to get the right drivers, but after that you can connect through Internet Connect, as if it twere a regular modem. If you open internet connect, or the system prefs while configuring and setting up initially with the VZaccessmonitor, it will cause the repeating dialogues. I had to uninstall, make sure not to open system prefs while the VZ install ran, and then reboot--and the install had produced a new location for me.

  • Just got new T530 with wrong wireless card. Which model of Intel 6300?

Hey all, been surfing the google god for a few days but can't seem to find a secure answer that makes me happy. Just got a new T530 model 2359 laptop for my new job. Other then one stuck pixel that refuses to go away im pretty happy with it as I upgraded the CPU to the i5 3320 cpu model with the nvidia NVS 5400m GPU so it can power dual 24" monitors on my new Lenovo dock.
What sucks is that my manager got me the wrong wifi card, the standard thinkpad 1x1 b/g/n wireless card so I can't connect to 5ghz and or dual band routers like I have at my home which I really want for reliable and fast wireless cause I will be using it a lot around my work building as I do IT support for users so I wanna be able to use all the antenna's to help my range.
I took the laptop apart and I do see a third wire not connected to the thinkpad 1x1 mini card so should be able to use 3 antenna's on my T530?  My big question is which 6300 card would the correct one for my T530? I know apparently there are "white label" cards from IBM that don't work in certain machines but considering I'm putting it into a IBM, I would think I would be ok?
Also, I do have an HD webcam buit in and I've heard that apparently some Thinkpad models you can't use three antenna and have the webcam working?
I'm curious if this white label centrino 6300 is the one I need

  • Is my wireless card bad?

I have just spoken to Lenovo support and tried some things to resolve my wireless connectivity, but before I ship my computer back, which I really do not want to do, I thought I would ask for some help here...
I have a T510 running an Intel Centrino Ulimate-N 6300 wireless card.  For quite a few weeks now, I have had problems with dropped internet connections.  I first thought the problem was my internet connection or router, but I have ruled that out -- all my other computers and devices work fine -- I have concludede that there is something wrong with my laptop.  This morning I remembered that I had a wireless-N usb adapter in a drawer, so pulled it, plugged it in and had immediate and fast interet connectivity, while the connection on my Ultimate-N 6300 is out.  The problem with the Ultimate-N is that it is intermittent -- sometimes will not work at all, sometimes works for a little while, sometimes comes and goes within a matter of a few minutes.  I have tried reinstalling the drivers and such with no luck.  The Lenovo tech said he could not tell for sure and I would just have to send the machine in.  Is there anything I can do to determine 'for sure' if this is indeed a hardware problem related to the card?
    Thanks!

    Hi couver,
Try this, launch ThinkVantage Power Manager -> Switch to Advanced mode -> Click Advanced Settings -> Scroll down and set "Maximum Performance" in "Wireless adapter settings" -> Press OK then exit. See this:- http://img824.imageshack.us/slideshow/webplayer.php?id=lenovo1.png
Further, go to the device manager, select your wifi card -> go to Properties -> and put "Transmit Power" to maximum, and "Roaming Aggressiveness" to "Highest". See this:- http://i52.tinypic.com/w02v0l.jpg
Let us know if this helps.

  • T430 with Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card cannot see 5Ghz network

I have two machines with the exact same Intel 6300 AGN wireless cards.  Both running Widowns 7 64-bit.  Both have same versions of Intel drivers installed.  The X230 sees and connects to my 5Ghz wireless network.  The T430 sees only the 2.4Ghz network.  The 5Ghz network is not even displayed in its list of available networks.
The T430 sees other 5Ghz networks in the neighborhood.  Using inSSIDer I can see that the wifi card is functioning on the 5Ghz frequency as it displays 3 other nearby networks.  But I have no way to test connection since those are not my networks and are secured (as is mine).
Windows also shows those neighboring 5Ghz networks in the list of available connections.  Only my own 5Ghz network is absent from both lists.
Both my 2.4 and 5Ghz bands are broadcasing their SSID's.  All MAC filtering is correct and both machines are allowed on the networks.  The WPA keys are correct.
I have even copied the network settings from the working X230 using the "Copy this network profile to a USB flash drive" option from the wireless network properties window and added the 5Ghz network to the T430 using the USB key.  So I know the settings are identical.
I ran Lenovo diagnostics Wireless Quick Test on both machines and got identical successfull results.
The only thing amusing about this issue is that the X230 wifi card was purchased from an eBay seller in China and that is the one that works.  The card in T430 came with the laptop direct from Lenovo and that one has trouble.  Both cards have Lenovo FRU numbers and clearly are whitelist approved since they both work.  Just that the T430 card only sees the 2.4Ghz network.
I have assigned static IP addresses to both machines on the network.
    I have rebooted the router.
I have run all Lenovo and Windows updates on both machines.
If anyone has further suggestions I woul really appreciate assistance.
    Thank you.
