T400 wireless WPA2 Enterprise LEAP (user/name/domain options missing)

Hi all;
In the network and sharing center, I don't appear to have the option for LEAP authentication/encryption.  Just MS PEAP.  I usually use a name/password/domain passphrase, not a shared key.
It is a Cisco wireless router.
Ideas?

I used ThinkVantage Access Connections v5.61 for connecting LEAP with a TKIP password on my T60 for work, and it works great. Using a location profile that also includes LAN, it swithes between the two nicely.
You could try Access Connections.

  • Wireless WPA2-Enterprise + 802.1x (EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPv2) config

    Hello,
    We're in the process of moving all of our wireless from WPA-PSK to WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x EAP-MSCHAPv2 (PEAP). All workstations are Windows 7 with the 2SP3 IR2 client. What we'd like is for the 802.1x SSO functionality to work so users do not have to sign in computer only first and then use the novell login after connecting. I've followed the documentation for enabling 802.1x that Novell provides with no success. I'm hoping someone has done this or can point me in the direction of documentation that can use to better understand what configuration is needed to make this work.

    I'm not sure why FreeRadius would make any difference vs ClearPass.. they both speak RADIUS.
    This is the only documentation I can find from Novell: https://www.novell.com/documentation...a/b8jn9w6.html
    It's a couple of years since I did this so my memory is a bit vague... :(
    Did you install the peap plugin on the workstation, if I remeber correctly this was needed?

    Hi All
    I want to access the name of the user who has currently logged into the portal.  And this username, I wanted to display in my .NET PDK portal application.
    Please suggest a solution to this.
    -Vijay

    Hi vijay,
    I have develpoed poratal application in Java.
    Here we have got specific interfaces like IUSER,UMFACTORY in the PDK.
    we import usermanagement.jar for using this .
    These interfaces have got defined methods to get the current logged in info from the UME.like getDisplayName(),getUserId();getEmail() etc
    I guess in .net PDK u will  have same kinda API defined.
    got ny clue from dis then points are welcomed:-)

  • MAC OS 10.4.11 connecting to WPA2 Enterprise not permanently working

    Hi,
    I have an issue with the following environment. I will try to simply my wording to help understand the problem.
    Hardware: Macbook Pro 17" Intel Core 2 Duo and Macbook laptops
    Operating System: Both run MAC OS 10.4.11 fully updated (According to Apple Reps, this operating system is no longer supported)
    Airport cards: Both have Airport Extreme cards. The Macbook Pro's card is using Firmware version 1.4.4 ( card type requirement to connect to WPA2 Enterprise network)
    Connection type: Connected via PEAP (Inner Protocol:MSCHAPv2)
    Wireless Access Point (WAP): Cisco Aironet 1142: Macbook connects to WAP to gain access to the Internet.
    Cisco ACS version 5 server (validates macbook username and password entries to Microsoft AD servers.)
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Active Directory (holds user accounts)
    Other Operating systems MAC OS 10.5 to MAC OS 10.7 (Leopard, Snow Leopard, and Lion make automatic connections.)
    Basically, the process is that the macbook user enters in their email username and password into a WPA2 Enterprise wireless connection. The Cisco 1142 broadcasts the SSID for the user to connect to. Once the wireless connection is made to the Cisco 1142 WAP, the WAP sends the username and password to the ACS server. The ACS server verifies the username and password from the macbook to Microsoft Windows Server AD user accounts. If the password is validated, then the ACS grants access to the wireless Internet to the macbook user.
    The wireless configuration involves the following process:
    1. Click on the desktop, Go should be available now.
    2. Click on Go, then Applications. The Applications window will appear.
    3. Click on Internet Connect.
    4. By default, The 802.1X connection is not available. We will be using the 802.1X connection to enter and save the username and password. Click on File and select "New 802.1X Connection."
    5. A windows should appear. Under Configurations, select Edit Configurations.
    6. An 802.1X windows will appear to enter in the following:
    - Description: name of connection
    - Network port: Airport
    -User Name: domain\username or just username of email account
    -password: password for email account
    -Wireless Network: SSID of Cisco Aironet 1142 Wireless Access Point (WAP)
    -Authentication PEAP configured with outer identity of anonymous. We uncheck TTLS, EAP-FAST, LEAP, and MD5.
    7. Click Ok. Select Connect and it should connect to the SSID if the username and password are valid accounts.
    8. Select File and then "Export 802.1X Configuration to login Window."
    To verify connection:
    1. We go to Apple - System Preferences and select Network.
    2. The Airport should say that it is conected to the SSID. You are connected to the Internet via Airport.
    3. Go a little deeper, we click on configure for the Airport.
    4. Under By default join: select Preferred networks. Under network name, we should see the SSID connection. We select it and click on the edit button.
    5. We verify that the connection has Network Name, Wireless Security, User Name, Password, and 802.1X Configuration entered in correctly. We select Ok after verification or modification. Then we select Apply Now to save any changes.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------The Problems---------------------------------------------------------------------
    1. When shutting down the system and then turning it on. The Airport doesn't make a connecation to the SSID being broadcasted automatically. We would have to turn the airport off and back on for it to make an connection.
    2. When the laptop is left idle or goes to sleep, the wireless connection drops. The user would have to turn the airport off and back on to stay connected.
    Is there a fix for this?
    Thank you to anyone that would take time to read this and provide helpful feedback.

    The "v" key at startup is not Safe Mode. Try holding the Shift key down and restart for Safe Mode. This will disable extensions and help it start. It also checks some things out.
    Can you start it up from your Tiger disc? Hold the C key down at startup until you see the Apple.
    Your hard drive may be going kaput. Hope you have a good backup.

  • Can't create a WPA2-Enterprise wireless connection; missing Microsoft: PEAP

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise
    Hardware: Lenovo T410S w/Intel 5300 ABGN Wireless
    If I try to build the wireless connection manually and choose WPA2-Enterprise, then click next, I get 'An unexpected error occurred.' and no options to configure; just close.
    I then tried to create a Preshared Key WPA2 connection. This worked fine. When I go to edit the connection, I have the ability to select the WPA2-Enterprise options, however in the list of Network Authentication methods (under Security Tab), I don't have
    the Microsoft: PEAP or SmartCard options. I only have Cisco: LEAP,PEAP,EAP-FAST and Intel: EAP-SIM,EAP-TTLS,EAP-AKA (6 entries).
    It's my theory that because the Microsoft options are missing, the wizard gets the unexpected error. I'm wondering how I get the MS ones back.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.
    Do you have Symantec installed? It is said the issue could be due to conflict with Symantec Endpoint Protection. Please uninstall\reinstall Symantec
    if it is there.

  • Officejet 6000 wireless and WPA2-Enterprise network security

    I own an Officejet 6000 wireless printer. The manual says that it should be compatible with a wireless network with WPA2-Enterprise network security but when setting up the connection (I am using a macbook and am setting the printer up via usb connection) the newtork is listed but the security type is "unsupported." For whatever its worth it is listed 5 or 6 times but probably thats a different issue.
    I can still select the right network but it only asks for a security key, but my network security requires a log-in name and password.
    What can I do to get my printer connected to the network?

    I get the feeling that most of the people replying here don't know the difference between WPA2-Personal and WPA2-Enterprise.
    Personal has a passkey.
    Enterprise uses both a username and password, usually in conjunction with a Radius server (802.1X athentication).
    What we've had to do solve this problem is create a second SSID on the network that authenticates on WPA2-Personal. We use a really long password to secure the network, one that I will never be able to memorize in my lifetime.
    All we can hope for is that these enterprise-level vendors will, perhaps, gain a greater understanding of wireless authentication processes and the needs of actual enterprise customers who at least a percieved need for wireless printer capabilities. It used to be that customer was always right, though. Perhaps those days are gone...
    The other problem that probably ought to be addressed on consumer end is the fact that multicast tools that make AirPrint work (such as Bonjour), are being blocked from crossing between your wired and wireless networks, perhaps by the wireless controller or due to inefficient routing hierarchy or NAT/PAT issues. Solve this issue and you won't have a need for wireless printers.

  • Problem wireless connection with WPA2 Enterprise

    Hello,
    I am experiencing an annoying problem while trying to connect at the wireless network at the University, adopting WPA2 Enterprise. After some days of frustration I decided to post a help message here, I hope it's the right section (my problem could be kernel related...). Basically I can't connect to the network, no matter how many times i may try. Other operating systems do not give me the same problem, I can connect without issues thus my card is working properly.
    Summarizing:
    - My card is a BCM4313 (Broadcom), natively supported within the kernel by the module brcmsmac.
    - I tried the module wl as well, with no result.
    - I tried both Arch standard kernel and the LTS one.
    - I am Gnome user, hence I use NetworkManager (never had a problem in the last 2 years at least...)
    - I tried Wicd as well (in the past it was working when NM was failing), with no result.
    - Both MS Windows, Ubuntu and Linux Mint (driver brcmsmac) allow me to connect to the network.
    - The problem occurrs only in case of WPA2 Enterprise, unfortunately this is a "parameter" I cannot change...
    What follows is a portion of NM log file, where I isolated the part related to one connection attempt.

    As I said before, it may be a kernel related problem, but it seems very strange since I would expect a higher number of users experiencing some troubles.
    As a final note, I've been Arch-dependent since 4 years already and I love it. I can't really imagine to change distribution just for this...but I am stuck at present and I need to work with the laptop, so any help is really appreciated.
    Thank you

  • Question on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields in the MDT Wizard

    MDT 2012 U1
    Deploying Windows 7 via Offline Media (ISO) to MS Virtual PC's
    I am looking on how to Hide the User Name, Password, and Domain fields which are prepopulated in the MDT wizard via the CS.ini (Not so concerned about the Domain field as I am User Name and Password)
    We do need the Computer Name and OU fields to be seen, so skipping the wizard is not a option
    The client just does not want these fields to be seen by the end users, they dont want them to even know the account name used for adding the machine to the domain, of course the password is not displayed but it must not be displayed either.
    But since we use the fields they must still  be fuctional just not seen.
    Thanks.....
    If this post is helpful please click "Mark for answer", thanks! Kind regards

    You shouldn't have to edit DeployWiz_Definition_ENU.xml. You should only need to add "SkipAdminPassword=YES" to the CS.ini file and your authentication information.
    Example:
    [Settings]
    Priority=Default
    Properties=MyCustomProperty
    [Default]
    OSInstall=Y
    SkipCapture=NO
    SkipAdminPassword=YES
    UserID=<MyUserID>
    UserPassword=<MyPassword>
    UserDomain=<MyDomain.com>
    SkipProductKey=NO
    SkipComputerBackup=YES
    SkipBitLocker=NO
    -Nick O.
    Nick,
    SkipAdminPassword=YES is for:
    You can skip the Administrator Password wizard page by using this property in the
    customsettings.ini.
    I am hidding the Username/Password/and domain field in the computer name Wizard pane which is read from the cs.iniDomainAdmin=xxxxx
    DomainAdminPassword=xxxxx
    DomainAdminDomain=xxxxxx
    JoinDomain=xxxxxx

  • Windows domain how to get full user name with last name.

    Hi:
    I hope someone find the answer, I wrote this question before in the old forum http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5450216, but I didn't get an answer so I am migrating my question.
    Is there a way to get the full user name from a windows domain? Like the one that you see in the windows start menu on the top.
    I have an application that needs to print a report with the full user name with last name and everything (Example: John F. Doe, not jdoe), so they can sign above the name. Please tell me if there's an api or jar, because the only thing I can get right now is the username. One more thing, it's a stand alone java swing application.
    I will appreciate your help.

    JAAS with the Windows Login Module is about as close as you can get. I don't know exactly how close that is.

  • TG797n v3 log on to 10.0.0.138 User name and Password for wireless set-up

    I have a TG797n v3 on Windows 7 to a Dell XPS via ethernet cable. Has been working fine, but. . . just aquired an iPad Mini for family use.When trying to configure the iPad Mini, I can't get past the log in requirements of the "found" wireless network. My laptops read it OK but the iPad keeps asking for a Password for the Telstra***** wireless network. I have tried every conceivable password I have ever used without success.I tried resetting the TG797, (by switching off the power for 1 minute, and pressing the rest button for 20 seconds, and leaving the power on and pressing the re-set button),and now it is asking for a User name AND a Password to enable log in to 10.0.0.138. I can't even get to the set-up page anymore!! I have re-installed the software from the CD that came with the T-gateway, but at no stage does it ask for a password. It asks for the SSID and the Wireless Key, but nothing else! and connection to the internet is established.(Otherwise I couldn't type this, could I?) So, where, and how, do I either retrieve the Password hidden in the TG or reset the password the iPad is looking for???I have configured the TG797 by disconnecting and re-connecting (no passwords asked for) I have searched all the Help topics and they ALL say " Just enter your User name and Password" . . . yeah, great if you can remember it or even resetit!!  Please, someone, there must be a simple (or complex) answer as a solution. Thanks in advance, Ian King.   (Telstra help, . . . anyone?)

    Hi dumbojojo,
    Im sorry to hear that you are having difficulties,
    The password you need is located on the underside of you modem unless you have already changed it yourself. It will often be listed as a WAP PIN.
    If this doesnt help please see here Change wifi password or here  WiFi Troubleshooting
    Finally, you are still having issues, please contact support on 133933 or Live chat here http://tel.st/hsc3

    This would be verizonwireless.com, correct? Their site requests that browsers should not save information for its login form.
    If you're comfortable with using bookmarklets, there's one here that should force Firefox to remember:

  • IOS 5 can't connect to WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Wireless Network

    After upgrading multiple iPhone 4 (CDMA versions) to IOS 5.0, I have not been able to get them to connect to our WPA/WPA2 Enterprise wirless network.  We use a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller.  The wireless network is capable of doing WPA or WPA2 Enterprise with PEAP.  These phones all connected to this network fine before the upgrade.
    When connecteding to the network, it prompts me for the username and password and when I tap join it sits for about 10-15 seconds then says "Unable to join the network" with a Dismiss button.
    It connects to non-Enterprise networks just fine.  I have tested it on WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal networks and it has worked on several without issue.
    I have tried "forget this network" with no success.
