T400s with Windows 7 RTM doesn't have undock option

I just purchased a T400s, scrubbed it completly and installed Windows 7. I'm gradually installing Vista drivers in hope of getting some advanced functionality. I also purchased a Series 3 advanced dock.
The Start menu doesn't show an undock option.
Is there a specific driver that enables this functionality?

Hmm, I was wondering how you were going to pull of the installation of ThinkVantage and the Service volume after a complete wipe with a retail copy of Win7.
Is there such a 'blessed' upgrade path? Perhaps new OEM discs that have it for restore?

I'm having issues with a laptop not remembering the settings when she docks sometimes. The problem is, her setup is different than most and requires a fair amount of setup to complete. The T400 doesn't appear to have a "save a scheme or profile" option. Am I blind and just missing it, or did they actually forget to include this function?

You may be on earth but we won't know which operating system you're runing and service pack level. You should outline your machines hardware outline in detail. Assumptions rarely lead to a resolution. This is a couple of generations back. Are you using the original installation that came with or changed clean installing something else.

T400 with windows xp

I've ordered T400 with windows vista(without XP downgrade). Will I be able to install windows xp on it? I mean will you provide drivers for windows xp too? I understand hybrid graphics switching does not work on XP but apart from that, will there be XP drivers for sound, graphics, card slots etc. ?
another quick question, can I expect 3 hours of battery life with a 4 cell battery in balanced mode with wifi, bluetooth on?

I'm reviving this post since I'm having the same issue. Windows XP and hangs on during shutdown. Yesterday I installed around 30 updates using the ThinkVantage program. Maybe is the Power Management Driver, BIOS update, who knows. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks.

Creating recovery media for T400 with Windows 7

I have a brand new T400 with Windows 7 Pro in factory condition. I purchased a larger hard drive and extra RAM to install myself. I successfully added the RAM, but I'm having trouble creating the recovery media to transfer to the new hard drive. When I go to ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery, I only have the option to create Rescue Media, not Recovery Discs. I was able to create 1 CD with the Rescue and Recovery media on it, but not the OS, applications, etc.
Am I missing something? Is there a way for me to create the Recovery discs and thus actually use the hard drive I bought (and have back up in the event of a hard drive failure)?

Coyotered, welcome to the forum,
as you have a factory install you should see in the start menu an entry for Lenovo Tools, has three red blobs as an Icon, click on it and it will open a window offering you several options including creating restore media. Alternatively you can open Computer and double click the Q drive, this should then offer you the opportunity to create the discs.

Open your Displays system preferences. Is there an Arrangement tab and does it show two screens? If no Arrangement tab then your mac does not know it has two screens. Maybe smc and pram reset will shake it free and maybe not. Maybe there's something wrong with the connection. Whether you can use your phone in this way is entirely the responsibility of your phone company/carrier. You need to contact them to see if you can add tethering to your phone plan. Be warned though that it could get rather expensive, so if you don't really need it, then do without, but in any instance, you need to contact your phone carrier.

Multiple ethernet networks show and the internet doesn't function on T400 with windows 7 64bit

Hello all we are having an issue with several T400 notebooks which i hope someone can help with.
the first symptom is no internet connection on the wired port-wireless has been turned off so it doesn't interfere with testing.
the network and sharing center shows multiple networks on the local area connection, one work (a domain), one public why the public one is there i don't know.
ipconfig shows it is getting an ip and dns through dchp and they are proper but two gateways are showing up one proper the other 0.0.0.0 this is where it is dying (i think)
i've done a route -p delete 0.0.0.0 but it doesn't persist through reboots for some reason.
so every reboot you have to run the route -p delete (administrative cmd prompt required) and then a release and renew and it works properly until it is next rebooted.
Does anyone know a way to get rid of the 2nd network? Beside the "public network" shows local area connection same as beside the work network if i disable one it disables the adapter and neither works.

Hi, I found a solution which worked for me. After installing vs2008 I got some extended error messages which stated that the lenove config databases are currupt. So I removed all database and xml files of the lenovo directorty where the pc-doctor

Hi, How do I export HDR photos made on a macpro with photoshop cs5 onto a flashdrive so they can be imported correctly into a windows machine that doesn't have photoshop installed on it? Already exported to a HP flashdrive but they do not even show up on a windows machine. Need that capabillity since this is for commercial printing. My wife's mac laptop only shows 3/4 of the picture the rest is grayed out. Adobe support claims it is a Apple problem. Love the finger pointing and hold me blameless atitude on their part. Told them creating a picture should be like gas that can be used in anybody's car, just not their Adobe equipped ferrari. I certainly wouldn't expect to read native PS CS5 files with all features intact and supported on a machine that doesn't have CS5 installed. Try saving the files as flattened (no layers) TIFFs before moving them to the flash drive and trying to open them on the Windoze box.

Twist S230u with Windows 8 continues to have innumerable problems

First - let me tell all the readers that Lenovo Twistpad with Windows 8 is a marriage gone seriously wrong. The usability of this laptop/notebook is so bad that it horribly affects my productivity. The touch is almost useless and many many other issues.
However, the issue at hand that need to solve urgently are two
1) The search panel slides right in when I am typing regularly and the search field grabs the focus obstructing my work. This happens only on certain keystrokes. Praticularly with keys like 'i' 'o' '9' , '0' etc. I am not able to figure out why this happens and how to stop it. I have restarted my computer several time but could not help it.
Please help me with this issue. It is so serious that cannot even type a url in the browser url bar in a simple manner, I have to hit escape multiple times or manullay bring the cursor using the mouse after every few letters I type.
2) Many a time, the screen shows the caps lock on or off icon depending on it's state. It doesn't disappear then until I restart my computer. It obstructs normal reading.
Gosh.. I am sick and tired of this computer. Please help.

I just have never updated Windows 8 itself, (windows has never checked for updates), and just has been
using it bare. Do you update windows 8 to the latest updates with windows 8, and have any problems

You have to update Windows to the latest version with Windows Update and keep it updated, because this is a matter of security. Microsoft provides a lot of security updates and you have to install them even if you have got an antivirus. Then you can find other updates, and if you want to install Windows 8.1, just install all updates with Windows Update, and then go to the Windows Store and download Windows 8.1.
Apple says that Windows 8.1 is not supported by Boot Camp, but people say it works without any problem with the most recent drivers, so I do not find any risk after upgrading to Windows 8.1.
