T410 2516-CTO Memory

I have a T410 2516-CTO, Bios Ver 1.34, and Windows 7 64bit.
I would like to expand my memory. I currently have 2gigs, and would like to expand up to 6 or 8. What I can't seem to find an answer to is the max supported memory for my model.
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-55644#t
This link is displaying that the T410 model's maximum memory is 8gigs, however searching other sources online I keep reading about how they max out at 6gigs.
Hoping someone with this model has some experience with this and can tell me what the max is.
If you need any other information about my system please ask and I will update as I can

Your 2nd dimm slot will be tucked underneath the keyboard.
Take out the 1 other screw inside that back panel, flip over the unit and slide the keyboard forwards and pull the bottom side up.  (You may need to gently pry it up with a small screw driver)
You'll see your extra slot right front of your nose but hiding underneath some black film.

  • Need Windows 7 Media for T410 2516-CTO

I have T410 ThinkPad that I bought with Win7 Pro but had to put XP on when I first bought if for a contract I was working on.  I'd now like to put Win7 Pro back on, but I can't find the media.  Where can I get a full Win7 Pro w/ drivers for my machine?

As an alternative, you can download a W7 ISO from here:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/604187-legal-download-digitalriver-windows-7-sp1...
After that, install System Update and add the Lenovo drivers/utilities that you deem necessary.

  • T410 (2522-CTO) - USB issues

Hi, when new my TP had none of the following problems. How do I determine if this is Software or hardware issue ? Then how do I correct it?
Running Win 7 Home Premium SP1
1)plug card reader into usb , plug in SD card. Recognises the devices but when you try to read the contents of the card it takes forever to enumerate the directory contents. When it finally achieves this, trying to open one of the files takes 10's of minutes or a copy operation. The light on the device goes out for minutes then turns on again etc. It is not usable.
2)plug in ipad. Again after several minutes itunes starts but indicates there is no ipad connected. Windows recognises it and I can read and view some of the pictures but that is all. It appears to go through a process of connecting, dropping, reconnecting etc as the explorer pop-up, asking if you want to open file manager or view the picutes etc, opens multiple copies of the dialog and ipad beeps each time (ie indicating it is connected.)
Other USB devices work fine eg memory stick.
I followed the apple article that recommends reinstall of device drivers and of USB drivers. I have tried this to no effect.
    Greatly appreciate some advice

    hey crash486,
try uninstalling the device drivers and usb drivers. let windows install its own generic drivers.
at the same time, update the bios of yours. currently the t410 runs on version 1.38 .

  • T400 2764-CTO Memory updgrade

    Hello,
I am planning to upgrade RAM on my T400 as I am running Win 7 64 bit
Currently, I have 3 GB Ram and am planinng to add a 4 GB Ram such as:
4GB PC3-8500 DDR3-1066 Low-Halogen SODIMM (the plan is to remove 1 ram and swap with 4 GB ram so in total i have about 6 or so...)
My problem is that I don't know what type of RAM it currently has i.e. 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz. Also, I don't know how many DIMMS my laptop have??
Is there any way I can find this information out for my specific laptop without opeining the back of the machine?
    Appreciate any help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

CPU-Z will show you the kind of DIMMs:
    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
The T400 will use either 1066MHz or 1333MHz DIMMs at 1066MHz anyway.
    Here are the disassembly instructions:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70069.html
Basically, it's the four palmrest screws, and the palmrest comes off to expose the DIMM slots under the touchpad.

  • T410 - Install NVIDIA & Intel HD drivers, or just install Optimus drivers?

    Hi Folks,
I'm entirely confused about which drivers I should install.  Do I install NVIDIA and Intel HD drivers separately?  Or, do I just install Optimus drivers when they come out?  Or do I install all 3?
    thanks,

I would like to share with you that you need to update both drivers, first you need to update the Intel HD and then NVIDIA graphics software of your notebook from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?
After this, please restart the notebook and check if the issue resolved.

  • Brand new T410 shows battery not authentic message?

    Hi everyone,
I just received a T410 that I ordered from the Lenovo website and noticed that the Lenovo Power Manager is showing the following error message on the taskbar:
"The battery installed in this computer is not a genuine Lenovo battery and may not meet Lenovo's safety and quality standards. Double click to learn abut genuine Lenovo batteries."
The alert for this message is always being displayed on the taskbar right beside the battery meter making it quite annoying. I just received my laptop from Lenovo so am confused as to why I would be having this issue.
Has anyone else gotten this message before and if yes, do you know how to fix it? Also is it possible that I could have received a defective or else non-authentic battery from Lenovo that would be causing this issue?
The battery model # that power manager shows is : 42T4801
It should be the 9cell, LI Battery TWSL battery.
I didn't see it listed in the list of batteries that double-clicking the message takes me to.
My computer model is ThinkPad T410 2516-CTO with Integrated graphics and the i7 620M processor.
Any ideas in regards to resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Your new T410 may not have the latest BIOS that fixes this issue:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74268
    Version 1.09-1.04
    BIOS: 1.09 / ECP: 1.04
(Fix) Fixed an issue where battery authentication might be failed.

  • T410's White screen

I have a brand new t410, had it for a few weeks and now i have a white screen as soon as i power it on. The laptop works with an external monitor without any issues. Do you guys know of anything that might cause this problem.
PS: i tapped the back side of the laptop with the monitor half way closed and i got the screen to come back on. It keeps going to white from time to time and i finally called lenovo support to get it repaired.
Just posting so if others have the same issue, they dont have suck a hard time looking for info like me..

We have a T410 2516-CTO that had the exact same issue.  A "technician" came out and replaced the display (and added a few scratches to the case).
We now have a T410s 2901-CTO with a white stripe running vertically down the screen.  I will be contacting Lenovo support shortly.
We are in the process of rolling out five T410, fifteen T410s and four T510 ThinkPads.  I hope this "white screen" issue is not a common occurrence with the T41x ThinkPads!

  • Bubble like splotches on T410 LCD

Just noticed this a few minutes ago on my T410 (2516-CTO), there are three large splotches and three small splotches on the center-left of my screen. I tried wiping the entire screen down with a clean microfiber cloth and a very mild spray of eyeglass cleaner on the cloth. All the dust came off but the splotches remain. They only appear when I inspect the screen with a flashlight dead on. These splotches look like reflective white film-y regions, like the surface of the LCD is delaminating with really thin air bubbles. They seem to look like subsurface defects - Is my LCD delaminating or any other bad thing happening?
    Solved!

Hello Navck, welcome to Lenovo forums!
Air bubbles in a LCD, sounds not normal. I would suggest, take a picture and call support.

  • Smart Card Reader

Bought my T410 (2516 CTO) running on Win 7 Pro 32 a year ago, with an integrated  Smart Card Reader which should read several types (¿?) besides the SD that already recognizes perfectly.
Trouble is I can't find anywhere which are those other Memory types. Read here and there, the whole FAQs, searched for it and it seems there isn't any clue regarding this issue.
Can someone please tell me which other Memory Cards does it read?, besides SD I already checked.
I had the hope it could read a XD Card, because it fits naturally, but it doesn't.
(The driver is updated to the latest just in case anyone might comment on this issue).

    hello Tweedle,
the BlackBerry 10.1 OS will be compatible with the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader 2.0.

  • "Low Disk Space - You're running very low on Disk Space C:"

I'm running low on resources in my C: partition, where OS: MS Windows 7 Professional (32 bit) resides, in my ThinkPad T410 (2516-CTO). I should be cleaning it. I've already run CCleaner, and want to avoid the partition expansion operation. I have 50 GB there, and my 2nd and only other D: partition for Data of 400 GB is almost full also.
Until I get a reasonable portable HDD, to handle this risky issue, any idea if it is safe to delete at least 4 huge 800 MB sessions here c:\Program Files\Lenovo\System Update\session\ ? I imagine these had to do with old updates that won't be needed anymore.
Any other better suggestions are also welcome.
    Thanks in advance, C
PS: Couldn't find anything related here.

Just to add that I found the answer by my own here in http://forum.notebookreview.com/
    Answer:
One must keep system and temp directories, QuestResponse.xml and updates.ser files all from the Session Folder within the lenovo-system-update-session area, or else System Update won't start. Then, one can safely delete all other directories.
    1st urgent issue, solved.
Nevertheless, I should stil find out a fix to the not minor 2nd issue, the full Backup Lenovo Recovery Partition Q: from my HDD (6,76 GB, with only 364 MB free available) where I should either replace the 1st and only backup I made and left there, or blow up the whole partitioned HDD and start all over from scratch, which I'm trying to avoid.
I already know that the other obvious solution would be to get a huge Portable HDD. Though I have almost 70 GB left in one of those, I must find a way to move that space required from Q: over there, and make a backup too.

  • How to turn off NVIDIA when on battery?

    Hi Folks,
I have the Optimus thing, and the NVIDIA chip is staying active when I'm on battery (as verified by NVGPUStateViewer64). Is there any way to have it automatically turn off when I'm on battery, or are apps that were attached to NVIDIA while plugged in keeping NVIDIA awake when I switch to battery? Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    T410 2516-CTO
Optimus: NVS 3100M + Intel HD (most recent optimus driver installed)
    Win 7 Pro x64 SP1

I think the point is that there are programs using the NVIDIA chip.  In my case, when I go on battery, firefox.exe and mediamonkey.exe are still using the NVIDIA processor.
Of course, it would be nice to be able to kick those processes off the NVIDIA chip and onto the Intel HD chip (like switchable graphics used to do), but sounds like that might not be possible to do automatically (and I'm definitely not going to hunt around for applications using NVIDIA each time I unplug the computer).
Any ideas, or are those of us with Optimus stuck with an NVIDIA processor sucking our battery power?
    thanks!

  • Anyconnect reinstalls every time I launch it.

    Hi Folks,
Anyconnect has been working fine for me for a long time.  I recently started sharing my wired connection via a wifi ad-hoc network, and for that, sharing was enabled for the vpn client.  I think that ICS is not officially supported for the anyconnect adapter.  So, I disabled sharing for it, and reinstalled.
Now, everytime I start the VPN client, it downloads and reinstalls itself.  Any idea how I can stop this from happening?  It works fine, just that it's downloading and installing itself every time I use it.
    Thanks.
    Thinkpad T410 2516-CTO
    Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1
    AnyConnect Client 2.5.3041

I think this is set in the ASA. Via ASDM, config -> remote access-vpn -> network client access -> group policies -> edit -> advanced -> anyconnect client -> "Keep installer on client system". As far as I remember, if this is "no" then anyconnect will be uninstalled on termination. Matthew

  • Tpfancontrol + lenovo Power Manager - what do you use?

    Hi Folks,
I've recently installed tpfancontrol 0.62 on my T410 that has Lenovo Power Manager 6.36.  My machine started shutting down spontaneously (not often - once or twice a day or so).  I'm wondering what version of Power Manager folks have installed, and whether you encounter these issues when you have tpfancontrol installed?
Thanks a bunch.  I've tried uninstalling PM, but it hard to live without fn-f5, fn-f6, etc.

No new T-Series here yet.  I have a couple older ones loaned out.
I'm on the road a lot so I took a liking to the X-Series.  The newest ones are the x-61s.
Make sure that the Hotkeys utility installed the system interface driver .  It'll show up in Programs and Features in Control Panel.
I use this fan control alongside of tpfancontrol.  It just depends on what I want to play with.  It's only for Windows 7 and it works on 64 bit.  I just got it to install on Windows 8 64 bit.
tpfancontrol  installs the tvi port along with the package.  On this one, you have to install the port first and then reboot, then install the fan control.  There's a few bugs in it:  I've never been able to get it to start with Windows, I start it manually from the desktop. Also, when it hands control to bios if the machine gets too hot, it throws an error and shuts itself off.
I think part of the problem with it is that the tvi port that comes with it is an old version, but it has potential.  You can change settings from the UI.
I've never had any shutdowns with either tpfancontrol or this one.
