Can anyone tell me where do i check if all the memory is available or not? or is this a bug?
Any quick help will be very much appreciated.

i checked the system parameters, and it says : Installed memory: 4.00 GB(3.80 usable) and system Type: 64 bit Operating system.
I am confused.
In that case I think probably the RAM hasn't been properly installed, have you tried reinserting it? Do it this time while watching the video or reading the HMM:-

That is normal. My T410i have 3,86 GB usable out of 4 GB on 64-bit Windows. I think part of the memory is used by the GFX and some other stuff.
danda has 2x4GB RAM = 8GB....

  • HD Memory not showing

Guys, I've finally "upgraded" to Lion (I think it's going to need some getting used to ).
Thing is, when I click on any of my internal HD's the Available Memory is not showing.
I've gone into Finder to see if there's an option in there to check, but there's not.
    What have I done wrong?

HDs don't have memory, so I'm a bit confused. Do you mean item info? If so, click on the Desktop J, and select Show Item Info. That adds the capacity and free size values for each mounted volume.

  • Installed Memory not showing up in a late 2009 Dual Core Mac Pro

I have a late 2009 Dual Core Mac Pro.
I restarted the my computer today, an a utility popped up saying something about I need to re-arrange the memory in my mac because it was not optimized.
I thought this was weird because all the slots are filled with 2 gigs chips for a total of 16 gigs.
When I checked about this Mac it said I only had 12 gigs of memory in my system.
I went to open up the case, and there are to red light glowing for slots 7 and 8 on the motherboard, and any memory chips I put in those slots do not show up.
Can anyone tell me what is going on and how to fix it.
There was a power outage the other day, but I keep my machine on a surge protector.
I generally try to take really good care of my computers so seeing something wrong out of the blue like this is a little freaky for me.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Stan

Each "side" is operated independently, so slots 1, 2, 3 and 4 are one set, and 5, 6, 7, and 8 are an independent set. The third and fourth slots on each side share a memory channel, so a failure of one module in these two slots could possibly disable the other one.
The Mac Pro uses the Error Correction Code hardware built into its Xeon processor to provide single-bit (in a word) Error Detection and Correction in Hardware. It also can detect double-bit errors, but these cause a kernel panic, machine-check, error overflow or uncorrected error. This is by design, to avoid poisoning you data.
The Error Correction Code hardware is used in a special way at Startup. Any failure (correctable or not) that occurs in the first few seconds while running the Power-On Self Test causes your Mac to declare the slot(s) of those modules "empty" and simply not use them in the running system. Vigilance is required, because the next time you run this test, those Bad modules may pass.
So the movie version is that you have some DIMM(s) that have failed, and you should remove them from your Mac and consider whether to replace them with good modules, or to add some larger modules.
I expect your recent power failure, protected by a UPS, is merely a coincidence, not a cause-and-effect.

  • Memory not showing up after crash (1.67)

I have a total of 2GB on my machine. But sometimes when the computer crashed and after force restarting, one memory is not showing up under "About This Mac". It is the reversed one. What does that indicate?
    Here're two screenshots:

    http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w130/herpa73229/Picture-3.jpg
Does it relate to the lower memory slot failure? It will show up 2GB again when I restart the machine again.
I have the latest Powerbook, the 1.67GHz Hi-Res, built around Oct of 05'
    Thanks

Could this also be related to that "great deal" you found for RAM last year?
Try putting your original sticks back and see what happens.

  • Memory not showing when overclocking

Got a strange one. I have a i7 920 on a MSI X58 pro board. I also have 3 x 2gig apacer 1600mhz DDR matched set. Now everything works fine till i push the base clock up from 133mhz to 166mhz. After that the pc only sees 4gig in post where the BIOS still shows that the DIMM's are full.
Anyone know why this is happening and what the problem could be? BIOS is latest 8.70 version.
    Thanks

Up the voltage of your memory to 1.65V and try again.
Tried it and its still only seeing 4gig of memory in POST. Also raised QPI to 1.25v for some extra breathing space.

  • T410 Screen Not Showing While Booting Up

    Hi,
I'm currently using a year old T410 Lenovo laptop.
I've hibernated my laptop after school and went home with it, but when I reached home and tried booting it up, the machine starts running but the screen doesn't show. I forcefully restarted my laptop and tried to switch it on again, but like the usual, the machine starts running but the screen doesn't show anything at all.
I don't think it's my LCD screen's problem. If it was, I should be able to hear my window's log-in screen sound. However, I didn't hear it.
Please help. I have important data and I hope I can retrieve it back. Thank you!

Does the backlight light up? Is there any glow from the screen?

I have a ipod classic 160GB and it's not showing any music anymore, but there is still showing 7GB of memory being used, and I don't have it backed up on my itunes, since I had to put a new hard drive on my computer. Any suggestion to find out whats on that memory or to get it the music back, there is approximately over 1400 songs on it?

What is the memory being used by, is it Other? If it is, that means the iPod can no longer read the music, so it has put it all in "Other".
The usual fix for this is to allow the iPod to Sync with its iTunes Library. If that doesn't work, the next option is to Restore the iPod using the Restore command in iTunes, on the Device/Summary pane.
Unless you are very (very) lucky, I suspect that you are going to have to Restore your iPod. Restoring will remove everything form the iPod and put back onto it only what it finds in your iTunes Library, which you say is currently empty.
    If you have to rebuild your Library after this issue, by adding all the music back again, this is going to be hard to hear, but for the future, you may want to consider always having a backup of your library. The easiset way to back the Library up is;
if the Library is small enough, burn it to a DVD, as digital files, not a "music CD".
If your Library is too large for a DVD, buy yourself an external hard drive and copy the Library onto the drive. Remember to update the backup every so often.

  • My internal drive is NOT showing up in the event library in Final Cut X.  I am also getting a "The operation couldn't be completed. Cannot allocate memory" Any ideas? I am using an IMAC Core i7 with 8GB memory, OS version 10.6.8

My internal boot drive is NOT showing up in the Event Library in Final Cut X. My external raid drive is showing up.
I am also getting error message "The operation couldn’t be completed. Cannot allocate memory"  when attempting to create a new "event".   Any ideas?
If I had a application disk, I would unistall and reinstall FCPX.  I am assuming there is a way do do this without a disk - just have not been able to easliy find out how.
I am using an IMAC Core i7 with 8GB memory, OS version 10.6.8

Well it did NOT work.  Here is a screen capture as FCPX loads showing the drive while it loads. Then when it is loaded, NO drive showing up in the Event Library ( I have turned off the external drive).

I got my iPhone 4s screen fixed, now in my Photos it shows nothing, although in my memory usage it shows 10.5gb of photos, thats 2000  photos not showing up. What happened?! Where did all my photos go?!

WOOHOO!!! i finaly fixed the problem. Here is what to do:
Chances are if you did the same thing as me you either have
    A) No album names at all for ALL your songs in your library
    or
    B) Have the same name for every album for ALL your songs in your library.
Here is how to fix it (yah it will take a little work but its worth getting your iPod functioning properly).
Unless you dont want to have to go and actualy set al lthe album names for every song here is what you can do:
Go through to iTunes and arange your songs by Artist name. Click the top song for your first artist, hold Shift and click the last song for that same artist (to multi select all the songs for the artist) go into get info and check the Album box. Copy the name of the artist to the Album box and hit ok.
Now when u update your ipod and go into ur Artists section the actual Artist name should show up instead of the song names.
For some reason having the same album name for all your songs messes up the organization of the iPod.
Hope this helps anyone else that is having the same problem
