  • Microphone Mute Button Doesn't Work - T510

Pretty simple issue.  I think I have the latest software updates installed but on my Win7 64-bit T510, all keyboard special buttons work except for Microphone mute.  Speaker mute and speaker volume buttons work fine. I'm having to mute my mic from the Recording Devices screen in Win7.
What could prevent Microphone mute button from working?

I've got the same problem on  my new T410. I think quite a few people do, but for some reason, this isn't getting much attention. Strange how you can buy a high end product, from a reputable laptop manufacturer, and the product still doesn't work. Quite hard to believe - I mean, this is the year 2010, and a simple button on the notepad doesn't work. Also, hard to believe the audio is not supported on the display port....
Would be hard to believe that audio isn't supported on the display port, since it is supported..

  • I got a Mute Button Always On Problem.??

I am a new onwer of the SB Audigy 2 NX. I also have a 7. Creative speaker system. Here is my problem. I am using a dvd player with Optical out. Which goes into my 2 nx external device, and have al the correct speaker line out putt in places. Yet the "mute" is always on on the console. I try to hold the mute button ( doesn' work) try the remote mute button ( doesn't work) . if i hook it up to my computer and have the usb hook up then the "mute" light is gone and I care hears sound.
I don;t wan **bleep** hook up to my pc, I want to hook it up to my dvd player with opitcal out adn use ym 7. speaker set in another room. can some one let me know if thats within devices operation or I am not doing something right.
please if you need more info on my problem please just ask and I will give more info that might help.

    KenjiIzce8,
If you are just looking for an external decoder, then the Audigy 2 NX is probably the wrong product for this. I would suggest the DDTS - 00 digital decoder if you aren't looking to connect to your computer at all. This is not a sound card, and does not work with your computer. It is strictly a decoder made to work with computer speakers. It is listed in the products/speakers/decoders section of this website.

  • T410 microphone doesn't work

    Hi
I have a new T410 and tried using skype.  I can hear fine but can't talk.  I tried testing hardware and the microphone sound meter doesn't budge.  I also tried the obvious (the microphone Mute switch is not set to mute).  What am I missing and what do I need to do?

    Hi,
I have the same problem with my T410. I have already installed both of the drivers (the links posted above) and I have all other drivers installed on my computer as well but the microphone mute button still doesn't work... I downloaded the ThinkVantage system update program and it updated a few drivers and even downloaded and installed some but didn't fix the problem. Is there any other way to make it work?
    Thanks

  • T400s Microphone muting button and Windows 7

    Hello,
I have a brand new Lenovo T400s. It had Windows Vista operating system but a few days ago I installed Windows 7 on it.
It was Vista Premium and for that reason I had to install Windows 7 from a scratch.
Therefore all drivers were lost. I used ThinkVantage (Doctor) software to download necessary drivers from Lenovo web site.
Everything works except for microphone muting button (amber light in it does not react as well).
I was thinking that it a driver problem as my keyboard driver is now Standard keyboard PS/2 driver (installed by 7 automatically). But I was not able neither to find any suitable driver on Lenovo website, nor to encounter any description of this problem solution in the Internet.
Does anyone knows what can be done in this situation?
    Thank you.

if you're 100% sure you installed all the drivers then i don't know why, but i can confirm that button has nothing to do with the keyboard driver. there is no "lenovo keyboard driver"
i didn't have a problem with this at all. just double check (use system update) if you've got all the drivers.

  • HP Probook 455 G1 dts+ audio software & mute button light change missing on Windows 10

Dear Support! I upgraded my probook from win 8.1 to win 10 home and i have a few problems in relation with the audio. 1. In win 8.1 the audio driver has a dts+ software (if i remember good for the name) which can optimize the sound with effects and eq etc. The notebook sounds good with this but in windows 10 i can get this and the quality of the sound is much worse. In addition in the device manager on win 8.1 the audio card names as IDT High Definiton audio but in win 10 it is "High Definition Audio Device". I don't know whethet that matters. (also has an amd high definition audio device, but if i know good its the hdmi audio) So I want to ask how can i get this to win10. 2. The audio mute button in win 10 doesnt change color -the wifi button does it- from white to orange if there is a change. The funcionality is working so it mutes the sound. So i would like to get some solutions about that, i tried to download drivers from hp support but i didnt see anything for this. Thank you for your answers, Akos ConfigHP Probook 455 G1 with AMD A10-5750M APU

Everything i need is the driver from the win 8.1, i can't believe nobody from HP can help me in this.......

  • Lenovo X1 Carbon Mute Button - Win 7

Hi All My x1 Carbon came with Windows 8 pre-installed; however, I found it horrible and such I reinstalled Windows 7 64Bit (Personal Copy). After spending hours trying to download all the drives, I downloaded system update and it seemed to install 100% of them for me; however, the mute button does not work. If I press the mute button nothing happens, nor does the little LED light up. I have installed all Lenovo drivers under the sun, including the hot-button one; however, I still cannot get it to work. The Mute Microphone next to it works fine; however, not the mute speakers. The strange thing is that the Mute Speakers LED lights up during Boot (BIOS Screen) so its obviously working. Does anyone have any advice? I have a Late 2012 model - 3443-CTO Thanks!

Check out this link... http://windowsvc.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=windowsvc&wr_id=2160 I deleted the service and then installed the hot key driver from the lenovo support site, and it put it back. My issue was exactly the opposite.  By executing the above it left me with exactly the same issue I already had.  My mute button turns itself on all by itself.  I turn it off by pressing the mute button, and it goes back on all by itself!  Think Lenovo has issues with its software.  Called Lenovo support and after they tried a few things suggested I send the laptop in for repair/replacement. Anyway, check to see if this service is running, maybe this will help.    My laptop is a a model 20BS X1 Carbon.   Thanks.

  • HP Probook 4520s: sound card doesn't work (no sound, red mute button)

    Нello!
I have an issue with my HP Probook 4520s. Its internal speakers  and microphone doesn't work. I've tried to install and reinstall drivers from here, tried to rollback driver to older version but I always have the same result: installed the IDT sound codec, and after a restart, the mute button  turned red and I cannot switch it.
    Soundcard device ID: HDAUDIO\FUNK_01&VEN_111&DEV_7605
    OS: Windows 7 Professional x86
    How can I fix it?

Hi, just registered to post my solution. I got HP ProBook 4330s in for repair. Problem: some sticky liquid spilled all over and no sound. Also discovered that no microphone as well, but webcam did work just fine.
    What I tried:
    1) Installed fresh Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit and all official drivers (audio driver did not want to install), still no sound. Sound icon shows red cross. Message: No audio output device installed.
    1) Installed the newest version of BIOS, in my case F.40, still no sound.
    2) Pluged in headphones, still no sound.
    3) Took apart, unpluged and firmly inserted every possbile cable, still no sound.
    4) Found in BIOS everything that relates to Audio. Made sure Audio device is enable, still no sound.
    5) Install XP and installed XP sound driver, still no sound. In fact, that driver did not install correctly, showed some kind of error.
What did work, in consecutive order:
    1) Took apart again and took out the coin battery that retains the BIOS data, date, clock etc.
    2) Put everything back together, switched on, entered the correct date in BIOS settings, and started Win 7 Ultimate. Still no sound. But I noticed that Win 7 Ultimate has found some devices and was installing drivers for it. Though did not check exactly which ones.
    3) If I could not get the sound working I was determined to buy some speakers with USB connection. Then, I remembered that I already had a set of speakers for another laptop. These speakers had USB connection to draw power from and a grean standard headphone connection/plug to draw audio signal. I plugged in these speakers into HP 4330s and the sound started coming from these external speakers. The sound icon next to the clock in bottom right corner switched to normal mode and I could control volume with my mouse. Then I unpluged external USB speakers and the sound started coming from the HP's built in speakers.
Checked with Device Manager that correct sound drivers are installed and microhpone appeared to be installed as well. Though did not check with Skype if microhpone was working.
I was soooo happy!!! I struggled with this problem for three long days, searched many forums (none gave solution), tried everything with drivers, took apart the laptop some three or four times (now I learned to do it with my eyes closed, so to speak).
I started to think that taking out the BIOS/date coin battery did the trick. There must be some glitch in BIOS to motherboard connection in these HP ProBook laptops, and all BIOS settings need to be reset.
I'll be happy if this helps someone.

  • Mic Mute Hotkey doesn't work, Sound Mute Button won't change its color [Windows 10]

    Hello everyone,
I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 x64 on my HP Probook 450 G1 (E9Y30EA), and after installing drivers I noticed when I turn off the sound, my Mute Button won't change its color to amber (or orange, yellow, whatever), as it did in Windows 8.1 and 7.Also, another thing that's not working at all is Microphone Mute Hotkey (fn + F8). It neither turns off the microphone, nor lights up its LED. I have the latest version of HP Hotkey Support driver installed (7.0.13.1), HP Quick Launch Buttons, HP Wireless Button, installed, .NET Frameworks 2.0 and 3.0 etc.. everything is up-to-date, but it's still not working as it should. Microphone muting just doesn't work at all, and pressing (sound) Mute Button does mute sound, but its light stays white, so I often don't know whether I had the sound on or off with the glance of an eye as I used to. On the other hand, HP Wireless Button works normally, and it changes its color to amber when I press it to turn on Airplane Mode. TL;DR: Microphone Mute Hotkey doesn't work; Sound Mute Button does work, but its LED doesn't work. Is there anything I can do to fix that, or is it just a problem with driver incompatibility that would be fixed in some of the next updates? Or is it something else, like Windows 10 issue or audio driver maybe?
    Thanks in advance, pajser92

    Hi,
First download the sound driver using the links below and save the installer to your Desktop.
    Audio Driver - Windows 7
    Audio Driver - Windows Vista
When the download has completed, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation - ignore any warnings you may see about this being an earlier version.  When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • I don't have any volume. When I push the mute button or try to increase the volume up or down nothing happens. The volume shows up as if it were at full volume but no sound. I am so frustrated.

I need some help with the volume on my macbook pro. I am getting absolutely no sound no matter if I push the volume increase or decrease button. Nothing changes. The volume bar shows up as if it were at full volume but no sound and the mute button doesn't do anything either.
    Please help.

Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers.
Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
2.Plug in and  remove the headphone.
If you see red light in the headphone port or not, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
Try this even if you don’t see the red light.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14222
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so,uncheck it.
    6. System Preferences > Sound> Sound Effects
        Play sound effects through:
Select "Internal speakers" and then back to "Selected sound output device".

  • T510 - Mute, Mic, and light flash for 30 minutes before computer turns on

I have a 3 day old T510 that takes 30 minutes to turn on.  When I press the power button, the MUTE button, MIC MUTE button, and the keyboard light above the LCD start blinking...  30 minutes later, the computer turns on.  This is only the first power on in the morning.  I disconnect power, remove battery..  same results.
    Any ideas?

I would speculate that the power adapter and perhaps the battery are suspect.  A MBP should operate with just the power adapter connected.  If available, try another charger.  Once you can get the MBP operating you can investigate the status of the battery by opening System Information>Power.
An appointment at an Apple store genius bar may be a good option.  The evaluation will be FREE.
