T410s Bios Update Gone Wrong

I hoping someone can direct me to a fix for this issue.  Seems to me I can't be the only one having this particular issue.
I downloaded the windows bios update utility and proceeded to update the BIOS.  The utility ran for 10 minutes and it just hung there.  Eventually I ended up rebooted the computer and once I did that the computer would not start again.
One long been and two short beeps and this indicates a system board failure.
Here is what I did;
1. Updated bios in windows
2. Computer would not start
3. Unplugged power and removed battery
4. Held power for multiple 30 seconds
5. Disconnected battery under the keyboard (waited two hours before trying again)
Any advice is very much appreciated.
Shawn.

If the machine is still under warranty call Lenovo and tell them that the BIOS update killed the motherboard. It might or might not get you where you need to be.
In case of an expired warranty, you're on your own an the motherboard replacement is going to be on you...
Good luck.
Cheers,
George

  • Z87-g45 bios update gone wrong

Hi, I'm a noob here and wish I found this forum a little earlier. I updated my bios to 1.6 a little while back, using the live update tool. (not a good thing to do I've learned) and now my bios logo keeps flickering before finally booting into windows. The one thing I hadn't done was resetting the cmos. My question is whether it is still usefull to do it now or should I revert back first to 1.5 with the forum tool? My comodo AV b.t.w. saw the forum tool as a trojan dropper - I take it is a false positive?

    Yes, false positive.
Forum's USB flash method is excellent and ensures the ME firmware is properly installed. Since you can still get Windows to boot, best to leave it alone and reflash using the archive in the link along with the forum flash. USB stick formatted FAT32, use the tool's 'Fix My USB Key' option prior to letting the tool load the flash files for you. At the 10 second prompt, restart and set the USB stick as the only bootable device, Save and Exit and follow the prompt when in DOS.

Don't forget to install the ME driver available for download at an MSI Website after the flash.

  • Lenovo t410 BIOS update for win 8.1

    hi
I want to upgrade my BIOS, but there is no update available for bios in windows 8.1.. My Bios version is 1.18, I want to update because i read somewhere that if your fan make noise make sure you have updated BIOS :A.. I want  to know if I can install "BIOS update for win 8" in my lenovo t410 with windows 8.1..
    thanks everyone for helping..
sorry any mistake in english, I am from Kosova <3
    Solved!

    Hello.
The Windows BIOS upgrade isn't OS specific, it runs on all OS's between XP-Win8.1, even if it doesn't list 8.1 specifically.
You can either update it manually, using the update here:
BIOS Update Utility for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Or make a bootable CD/USB with the ISO file here:
BIOS Update Bootable CD for ThinkPad T410, T410i
Either way works like a charm on a Windows 8.1 machine, but be aware of the risks involved in updating your BIOS.
    Good luck!

  • Thinkpad Edge E530 BIOS Update went wrong

I was updating BIOS using the utility given in Lenovo site. But it went wrong and my E530 is bricked. I'm planing to recover the BIOS using Phoenix Wincrisis .. But for that i Need the bios.wph file. I tried to extract the .wph file (using 7zip) from the Bios update .exe file given in lenovo site .. But I Cant find a .wph file in it.. It contains a [0] file.. Tried to extract that '[0]' file using 7zip. But 7zip cant open the archive. My E530 is still bricked .. Someone please help me as soon as possible. Thanks in advance

    Hi Yasarharafath,
I am sorry for the delay in reply!
I am glad to hear that your system is now booting after using Phoenix Wincrisis Tool. But for this new issue suggest you to check with uninstalling ACPI adapter from the device manager. Remove the battery from the system & power on the system from connecting ‘Power Adapter’. Wait till the system boot completely and then go to ‘Device Manager’ then uninstall ‘Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery’ under battery option. After uninstalling shutdown the system, remove ‘Power Adapter’ and insert the battery then switch ON the system and check.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • W510 bios update gone bad -- help please

Just went through a montly (+/-) update process through System Update.
Updated BIOS in my W510... along with a host of other things.. but from what I've
read i fear its the bios.
all went normally (as it always has).. machine rebooted after update.. stopped at the thinkpad
splash screen.  Just hung there.  I left it all day (figured it was doing something?) came back
at night, it was still hung.
tried to force reboot.. i got two beeps.. then three beeps..   nothing happened.
every time i pressed power button.. two beeps.. pause.. three beeps.
took out batt / restared .. no screen.. HD spins / fan spins / power light is on.. but machine
    seems dead.
Anyone have any ideas whats going on?  how to fix?  was it the bios update?  can it be rolled back?
    Thanks in advance

Were you trying to use http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-74858 ???
If so, we bricked several machines at the beginning of April and asked Lenovo to remove the update.  I see that hasn't been done.  Maybe now they will.

  • Bios update gone bad

I have a T60 and I just tried to update the BIOS using the following utility from Lenovo:
    Version:                  7IET33WW (1.14)
    Release Date:        2008/04/25
    File link                   7iuj12us.exe
    File size                  2,781,304
File description     ThinkPad BIOS update utility
After the utility completed the update, I followed the instructions to restart and verify the version.  After hitting F1, I am presented with a lock icon which has a screen beside it, which I believe to be a prompt for a power on password.  Not knowing what it is since I never had one set up, I try my windows password and that of my wife's which we use on the computer (set up when we set up the fingerprint log -in).  Nothing works.  I can hit enter and access the BIOS setup, but no changes can be made in "user mode" (I never set up a Supervisor password either).
I did read/try the solution which Mark_Lenovo (Admin) posted in other threads regarding removing the battery and backup battery, but it did not work.  What is funny is that the power on password is only requested when trying to access the BIOS, I can log on and use the computer normally with the fingerprint reader.  I just can not access the BIOS.
I am hoping others who had similar problems might have had better guidance on how to proceed.  My initial call to Lenovo proved to be less than comforting stating that even the POP can not be reset and can only be fixed by MB replacement at my cost.
Thanks in advance for any help.
System is a T60, type 8743, WinXP, T7200, 2Gb, current BIOS after update 1.14 (7IET33WW) dated 2008-04-16, Embedded Controller Ver 1.07, old BIOS version unknown, system build Dec 2007.

  • GT70 20D bios update gone horribly wrong

Hi, I have never ran into issues like this previously, due to a number of problems with issues like the Dragoon software not detecting fan speeds, a number of the MSI apps saying unable to read from BIOS I decided to update the BIOS following the MSI instructions to the letter with the latest update up on the MSI site for the laptop. Well it didn't go well.
Hoping someone can help, my laptop is the GT70 20D with raid 0 configured running windows 8.1 pro, laptop was built with Windows 8 from factory. I booted into the BIOS and performed the UEFI update following these instructions. msi.com/files/pdf/Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_en.pdf
I got to stage 12 and the laptop itself powered down and restarted (It didnt get to stage 13 onwards and actually flash it) on the restart I simply get the hard drive light flash once, black screen and nothing. Please help I am in the UK and will be contacting MSI UK during office hours and suspect this might need a RMA but wanting to cover everything myself first, I work in IT and have performed this sort of thing plenty of times in the past and slightly annoyed at the min lol.

Just got my GT70-20D back from MSI after a bad flash, took 27 days in total
I had to pay as they stated that bios is classed as software and not covered by warranty!
you had to pay?  is that a joke?
If you flash from their official guide do everything correctly and you brick it because their bios is faulty or motherboard and you have topay for it?
Wow, that is the most insane thing I have ever heard

  • Update gone wrong

    hi guys,
i've got a nokia 6300 and while I was doing the update yesterday something has gone very wrong. the mobile phone switched of never to come back to life. every time i try to switch it on the blue lights on the side turn on for a few seconds but nothing appears on the display.
anything i can do before taking it to a nokia care point?
    many thanks,
    JP

no unfortunately there is nothing you can do with your phone besides taking it to nokia care. your phone is based on s40 platform and there are no codes or button sequnece that you can try to revive it. your only option is to take it and have them flash the phone and bring it back for you. sorry mate, i know this is not what you were hoping for.

  • B575e BIOS update gone really bad.

I have a "small" problem that I hope someone can help me with. I just bought a nice little Lenovo B575e 368522G Notebook. For some strange reason, which I can not remember now, I decided to update the BIOS. Was it necessary? Of course NOT! Why did I do it? Maybe because I have a habit to always make sure that my computers have the latest updates available. I have made updates to the BIOS / firmware a number of times, both at home and at work, so this was nothing new to me.
What was new for me was that for the first time I could actually flash an INCORRECT software without being stopped. Normally there is a message if something is wrong and the update is stopped BEFORE it begin. In addition, both versions are usually displayed. Yes! I noticed several warning messages, but that's nothing unusual. In retrospect, I should probably pondered upon these messages a little bit more. Anyway, the update began and after a few seconds and the following message was displayed. "Incorrect package information detected." Whoops! Now I understood that I had a delicate problem on my hands.
Of course, Windows (7/64 bit) would not start. The boot sequence stops at the Boot device list where both DVD and HDD are shown BUT the only option that will work is the BIOS Setup. When i enter the BIOS Setup i get two error messages. First: "Formset 3E59A2-AA28-42F4-BCC0-AEDFE88106AD Failed to load storage: LBC. Status : Device Error" i click OK and then a second message is displayed:  "Formset 6DB6BE53-00DE-43D9-87EC-59EDBC1E988F Failed to load storage: LBC. Status: Devide error". The same messages also comes up when changes in the BIOS are saved.
Have tried various settings in the BIOS to see if I could get Windows to boot. Among other things, the obvious "SATA Controller Mode Option" that I did put to "AHCI". I've tried several other settings but nothing has helped. Also tried to reset the BIOS, with the "Secure Rollback Prevention" Disabled. Restoring appeared to work initially but after reboot nothing has been changed in the BIOS.
I've been looking in the Community Knowledge Base but could not find anything related to my problem. So, is there anyone who can have mercy upon me and help me with this problem? Does anyone know how / if it is possible to get hold of the "original factory" BIOS for a B575e Notebook?. Thus the BIOS that I "trashed". Or maybe something else that would fix this quandary - if so, i would be very very grateful.
The file that I downloaded from Lenovo's support page, and updated the BIOS with, was: hpuj50uc.iso ver.1.01-1.07 dated from 16 Oct. 2012, and should match both Win 7 and 8 32/64 bit. This update gave me UEFI BIOS Version: HPET63WW (1.01) Date 2012-09-03 and Embedded Controller Version: HPEC14WW (1.02) + an otherwise dead Notebook.
    Thanks in advance

Dear thowal and Lenovo Ladies and Gentlemen!
I have exactly the same problem as thowal has. His description is correct but I would like to put here some additional comments.
    UEFI-BIOS issue
The initial BIOS version is: HPET18WW(1.03), released 05/29/2012.
The HPET63WW is BIOS for a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop type based on the following displaying at BIOS startup:
    “Phoenix SecureCore Tiano™ for ThinkPad”,
furthermore I tried to use the exe version (h9uj50us.exe) too (of course when the Windows was still running), but it was terminated with an error message that the program does not know the system i.e. it does not know Lenovo IdeaPad B575E. I tried both Windows 7 and 8, because it was not unequivocal for me first time what does “system” mean – operating system or hardware. I looked at the screen messages more detailed and the exe has been produced also for Lenovo ThinkPad.
I am a Hungarian, but there is not Hungarian Lenovo support page, we are forwarded to US support pages. I thought that this is the problem, i.e. the US B575E is not exactly the same as the Hungarian version, therefore I looked at some other Lenovo support pages near Hungary (German, Austrian, Polish), but there are the same versions everywhere.
I kindly ask Lenovo to remove incorrect versions from Lenovo IdeaPad B575E/BIOS and to upload the latest proper BIOS versions (both exe and iso).
    Fan issue
Why did I try to update my BIOS?
The laptop fan is always working on high speed independently the state, i.e. either only in the BIOS configuration menu or under Windows, all the same. I tried both Windows 7 and 8 with several power management settings, and the power management was enabled in the BIOS.
My question is whether is this mentioned high fan speed normal?
My girlfriend has an IBM ThinkPad, bought in 2005, it works 12-14 hours every day (office and internet browsing), but it is generally silent. Its fan works very rarely. I have a Fujitsu Lifebook laptop (company laptop), it works 10-12 hours per days (office and internet browsing), but also its fan works very rarely. Fujitsu has an Intel i5 CPU with 35W TDP inside. In Lenovo B575E an AMD APU is with 18W TDP. I know that ThinkPad and Lifebook are not the same price and technical category as IdeaPad, but 35W TDP vs. 18W TDP at the same use…?
I do not want to play computer games, I only want to use office applications and internet browsers, but I need a quiet machine.
My question again: Is it normal, that fan of my Lenovo IdeaPad B575E is always working with high speed?
    Thank you.

  • Smc update gone wrong???

I have a macbook air 13" mid 2012 with mountain lion, when i tried to install the smc update my fan started to run at full speed, keyboard lights gone, charger light gone, and it wont work without the charger pluss many other things. Any suggestions?

    Try recovery mode:
    1. Start iTunes.
    2. Connect phone to a USB port directly on the computer, not an external hub or keyboard port.
    3. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes sees the phone in Recovery Mode.
    4. Follow the prompts to restore.

  • Another update gone wrong?????

    OK, this is totally ********!
I updated to the latest iTunes (6.0.2) and the latest iPod update for both my 5G 60GB and my Photo 60GB.
I don't know which one is the uclprit (iTunes update or iPod update), but now, almost ALL of my ratings, which took me WEEKS to do, are gone! Some of the songs have ratings, and a good many of the songs have a 1/2 star rating! How in the heck does a 1/2 star get in there? It's not possible to do in iTunes or on the iPod.
Now I've got to re-enter ALL of my Ratings!!!! Play counts and last played seem to be untoched. I'm REALLY MIFFED!

That's REALLY bugging me as well, becuase I Always make backups of the library files, but I forgot to this time.
I just wonder why I had so many files with large playcounts but no last played dates, and where the 1/2 stars came from.
Incidentally, I realized that the library was probably fine, until I synched my 4th Gen Photo. That iPod had all the ratings messed up, but my 5th gen, which I synch almost every day had all the ratings intact..
It must have been the update to the 4th gen that screwed me up, and when I synched it, it copied the ratings back to iTunes. My ratings were all on the old 4Gen prior to the update, so that must have been it.

  • Nokia Software Update gone wrong?

    Hey guys,
I'll try to be brief enough to avoid boring you. I started this thread off in the wrong forum apparently, and am told this is the correct place.
Basically, my PC Suite software has been rendered unusable, because every time my device attaches to it, it crashes. It appears to crash every time it synchronizes. And I can't stop it from synchronizing, for example, I destroyed the sync configuration on both the software and on the phone, and it still displays the synchronization complete message on the phone, and the PC Suite software crashes.
This was all working 100% yesterday.
I assume the problem has been caused by me updating the phone software, new version tag:
    V 06.01
    20-05-08
    RM-198
    (c)Nokia
    PC Suite software 7.0.7.0
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
The issue is apparent whether I connect the phone using the USB cable, or bluetooth,
    the phone is a 6085
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Go to a Nokia Service Point.

  • HT1222 Latest update gone wrong

I downloaded this last update, IOS 6.1.3 to my phone and the email button crashed.  My email accounts were gone.  I tried to readd both accounts and it won't accept them.  I tried to use the individual apps for the email accounts, no luck.  What gives?

    3 things:
1: Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
2: Restore from backup using computer iTunes.
    3. Restore as new without the backup and sync back the content manually.

  • ITunes 11 update gone wrong

Ok....so I have been using iTunes 10.7 (or whatever the latest one before iTunes 11 is) on my Windows laptop and it has been working fine ever since i bought my iPhone 5. When my Apple Update told me to update to iTunes 11, I tried to update it and it gave me a red exclamation point and said there was an issue updating iTunes. When I clicked on the file that saved (iTunes64Setup), I clicked “Run” and then a pop-up came up saying:
“An error occurred while writing installation information to disk. Check to make sure enough disk space is available, and click Retry, or Cancel to end the install.”
I click “Retry”, and nothing. The issue is, I have plenty of disk space and I cannot figure out what this means. I have tried everything complicated and simple to try and solve this problem but I can’t figure it out. It’s exhausting and I tried down-grading to a lower iTunes but still nothing. Help, help, help!

This happened to me too after adding another user account on my pc and sharing my library between all windows accounts. I found out that the songs that did not sync where missing the apropriate rights on windows.
E.g.: I used my pc on my own. For sharing my library with my wife, i moved the whole iTunes folder to a seperate partitition. I created an account (windows) for my wife, logged in, configured iTunes to use the library on the new partition and tried to sync her iPod. Yet it started to sync, nothing was synced to the iPod. It just stopped on song number 1.
Going deeper into this, i discovered that her windows account didn't have the windows rights to (although her account is an administrative one and the whole partition was set to "everyone-full access". I added her account and replaced all existing rights (to all subfolders and files). That did the trick.
Be careful when using the windows library (e.g. adding the folder "music" of your iTunes to the music library, so that the new music app on Win8 can play your songs) and sharing them in your home network. This will change the rights on your files again.
