T410s / t410 and intel wireless display (widi)

hello,
i am planning to get a t410s with the Intel HD graphics only (not the NVIDIA switchable gpu)
has anyone been able to get intel wireless display to work on their machine?
thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!
See this thread:- http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T410S-Hybrid-Graphics-and-Intel-Wireless-Di...
While googling, I can only find one model namely ThinkPad X201i with WiDi technology, Intel says it's only available on select 25 models from different manufacturers, also have a look here:- http://www.intel.com/consumer/products/technology/wirelessdisplay.htm#fragment-a-2
Hope this helps.

  • Pc laptops Compatible with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)

I am perplexed and am in need of information/understanding/a reality check.
I recently bought a Lenovo Z570 laptop that was explicitly advertised as supporting Intel Wireless Display (WiDi). I also bought a Belkin Screencast adaptor.
The computer arrived and there was the WiDi shortcut on the desktop. I plugged the Screencast adaptor to my tv through an HDMI cable and set the tv to the correct channel for the input. Great so far!
Per Intel's list of updates (http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-033375.htm), I went through and updated the wireless driver and then the Graphics driver. When I tried to update the Intel Wireless Display software, the process was aborted. And my screencast said that the monitor display could not be sent to tv.
After a lot of searching, I realized that my i5-2450M processor does not appear on Intel's list of compatible processors. System requirements can be found at http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm which says that the processor must be:
    ONE of the following:
    Intel® Core™ i7: 640M; 660LM; 640LM; 620LM; 620M; 610E; 690UM; 680UM; 660UM; 640UM; 620UM; 660UE; 2710QE; 2820QM; 2720QM; 2635QM; 2630QM; 2657M; 2649M; 2629M; 2620M; 2617M; 2540M; 2520M; 2510E; 2640LM; 2620LM; 2630UM; 2610UM; 2530UM; 2920XM
    Intel® Core™ i5: 580M; 560M; 540M; 520M; 480M; 460M; 450M; 430M; 580UM; 560UM; 540UM; 520UM; 470UM; 430UM; 2540M; 2520M; 2410M; 2537M
    Intel® Core™ i3: 390M; 380M; 370M; 350M; 330M; 330E; 2310M
Strange, but at that point I was just angry that the store and/or Lenovo had made a whopping mistake. After all, the WiDi shortcut and program was on my laptop; there has to be a reason for that, right?
After a lot of searching, I haven't come up with any answers, only more questions. Here on Best Buy, I searched for pc laptops that support WiDi. A list of 36 or 37 machines came up as qualifying. However, in going through them one by one, only a handful have processors that appear on Intel's list for the System Requirements.
I am very confused. Is Intel's list out of date? But if that's so, why didn't my attempt to update and use the software work? Are bestbuy and costco and multiple laptop makers mistaken when they say a machine is capable of supporting Wireless Display? What the heck is going on? Can anyone help me figure this out?
The Lenovo is on it's way back, but I need a new laptop as my old one is literally falling apart. A new one with WiDi would be extremely useful for a disabled family member. I'm also stuck with the Screencast I bought now too. Beyond all that, I'm really curious what is going on. Am I just stupid or befuddled or . . .is there something I'm missing? Any help would be so, so appreciated. Thank you.

The notebook does fully support WiDi but for some unknown reason, yours simply did not work. The CPU specs from Intel list WiDi as a capability of the CPU and the notebook has the appropriate hardware. I couldn't say why it didn't work but Lenovo does not advertise WiDi as a function of that model on their website so something is obviously off.

  • Intel Wireless Display not installing on W530

I noticed recently that Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) was not installed on my W530, despite my recollection of installing it via Lenovo Update.  So I tried downloading the latest version both from Lenovo (3.5) and directly from Intel (4.0), but neither will install on my system.  During the install, I get a message saying "This platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi or the application is in use. Please see the log for more details."  Now, since I have an Intel i7 CPU with HD 4000 integrated graphics and an Intel wireless card (Centrino Ultimate 6300), my system meets the system requirements for WiDi.  i have also updated the Intel PROSet wireless software to the most recent version, as recommended by Intel's website.
Kaso suggested on the Notebook Review forums that this could happen if I clean installed Windows instead of booting from the Lenovo-supplied OEM image, since there may be specific registry keys or values that signify the system supports WiDi.  As i did clean-install Windows, I'm wondering if anyone knows what those specific registry keys or values might be, so I can add them in.
And if anyone has a different idea why WiDi won't install on my system, I'd appreaciate your input as well.  Thank you.
Thinkpad W530, i7-3720QM, 1920x1080 screen, 32GB RAM, dual SSDs (Samsung 830, Crucial M4 mSATA), Quadro K2000M, 9-cell battery, DVD burner, backlit keyboard, Bluetooth, Intel 6300 wireless card

I have had a number of difficulties with Intel WIDI aswell on my W530. And I will give you a few recommendations.
I recently clean installed my windows and used the Lenovo update tool to install and update all drivers. Then I installed the WIDI app from the lenovo page (3.5 something). Then it works like a charm. My windows reinstall is some coorporate reinstall. So it is not Lenovo generic windows.
You cannot install WIDI for some reason if you have your computer connected to any monitors or in the dock. I think it has something to do with the installer having difficulties with recognizing the Intel HD 4000 when you are at the same time using the NVIDIA GPU.
I have tried a lot of different combinations/versions of WIDI, Intel proset and HD4000 drivers before the reinstall and not all of them work. First I updated all the drivers and it did not work, then I rolled back the drivers and it still did not work. Finally I got it to work after hours of work. But I do not remember what versions I used when it did finally work. After the windows reinstall everything works.
    I am using:
    Intel WIDI 3.5.40
    Intel HD 4000: 9.17.10.2843
    Intel Proset: 15.6.1.0
I am very hesitant upgrading any of the drivers/apps because I fear it will cause problems with WIDI.
Let me know if you have any questions. Perhaps I am able to answer those.
I should perhaps mention that WIDI is not exactly the perfect technology. I have a brand new LG TV with WIDI, but I still encounter pixelations and other stuff once in a while, but I think it has something to do with my router (which is in another room) and a lot of WIFI noise in my apartement building with a lot of different WIFI connections.
A moment ago I launched WIDI to look for the version number and this is what I saw. So perhaps I need to update something today. I will look into it when I get home where my TV is.

    Hi
To be honest I never tried to connect my notebook to TV with Intel Wireless Display but I found some informations on Intel page:
    http://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/architecture-and-technology/intel-wireless-display.html
here is a nice HowTo movie created by Intel:
    http://communities.intel.com/community/tech/intel_widi
    But requirements are:
    Core CPU i7-620M, i5-540M, i5-520M, i5-430M, i3-350M and i5-330M
    Furthermore you need Intel-HM57-, -HM55-, -QM57- or -QS57- chipset
    And preinsatlled Windows 7.
Should check this with your notebook!

  • Does the X1 Carbon have Intel Wireless Display? (Wi-Di, widi)

I need to purchase several 2nd Gen X1 Carbon units, (4th Gen Intel Haswell Core i7 models - I'm thinking of the 20A7002WUS model)
I cannot find anywhere that says that this model has Wi-Di.  (Intel Wireless Display)
The wireless card in the model I'm looking at is the Intel Dual Band Wireless 7260AC and the specs of that card lists Wi-Di as being included. See here:  ark.intel.com/products/75439/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-7260
I do find it strange that Lenovo doesn't list Wi-Di anywhere in the specs or product details for the X1 series.  I also know that OEMs customise wireless cards all the time, often disabling certain features.  I've found other forum posts here that suggest that Lenovo has disabled Wi-Di on the Intel wireless card.  I've also found other articles and reviews in various places that suggest that Wi-Di does work but I haven't seen anything conclusive.
So - in short - does the X1 Carbon Core i7 20A7 series have Intel Wireless Display?

The X1 Carbon 20A7 supports WiDi! Although haven't had a chance to try it on mine.

  • Dell Studio Laptop with Intel Core i5 S15Z with Intel Wireless Display issues (WIDI) (pkg deal)

i bought this laptop in Jan,2010 . Due to some h/w issue BB replace it   in April. When i tested my wireless display capability using the  the Intel Wireless Display  option i got a message "Intel My Wifi Technology not enabled. Restart the computer and try again." i have restarted my laptop several times. Also in the icon tray when i keep the mouse pointer on top of Intel My Wifi Technology it gives a message "Adapter not found". Please help.
I took the laptop to Geek squad in BB and they told me that they need to put the laptop to factory defualt and troubleshoot the issue that why the wireless adapter is not enabled.
Any suggestion as i don't want to go through this madness of backing up the data and restoring again. This will be my 3rd time . Any other alternatives .
Anybody using the above system with Netgear push2tv . Can you share the output of device manager as i like to see what wireless device you are seeing  as i am suspecting this laptop may not have one but then sice i see the s/w available i am confused ?

Almost every time we see a WIDI display issue, it is because the user is trying to use it too far away from the t.v.. It has a very short distance and when out of range, shows an adapter not found error. Playing with it, we found that over 15 ft it adapter wouldn't connect at all, and the closer the better as far as connectivity.

  • G470 and Wireless Display

I have a G470 and am trying to connect to my Netgear PTV2000. I bought this laptop because I thought it was compatible with Wireless Display. It has a i5-2410 processor, Intel HD graphics, and the right OS. The only difference between the system requirements for Intel Wireless Display and my laptop is the wireless card. My laptop has the Lenovo BGN Wireless card and the system requirements for Intel Wiress Display specify an Intel Centrino card. Is this the only reason I can't download the software?
I get the following error when I try to install the Wireless Display software:
    "InstallShield Wizard Aborted
This platform is not compatible with Intel(R) Wireless Display or the application is in use.  Please see the log for more details...."
How can I correct this problem? Do I need to get an Intel Centrino card? I bought this computer because I wanted to use Wireless Display.

Hi scottmcwms, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
The Netgear PTV2000 is an Intel Wireless Display device, and requires an Intel wireless card. The G470 comes with a Broadcom or Atheros-based wireless card, so that IS the reason you can't install the software.
Here are the system requirements for Intel Wireless Display:

  • BT Sport Connection to TV via Intel Wireless Disp...

Has anyone been able to successfully connect the BT Sport online player to their TV using Intel® Wireless Display (Intel® WiDi) on Windows 8.1 on their pc/laptop. When I try the player immediately stops and shows the error codes 6025 and VC019. I have tried the various suggestions I have read on the Forums and BT Help such as re-setting the clock and unticking and ticking the "Enable download and updates to components required for protected content playback" tab in Playback on Silverlight but all to no avail.
Or is it just a case that BT blocks screen mirroring, like 4oD for example, on their online player. I would have doubted this though as I have a tablet with Miracast and can mirror the BT Sport App to my TV. However there is quite a lot of buffering and picture break up. That is why I wanted to use Intel® Wireless Display from my laptop in the hope that these picture issues would be resolved. I appreciate that I can use an HDMI lead but it does rather defeat the option of having Intel® Wireless Display.
Any help or comments on this issue would be very much welcomed. Thanks

Hi pottyperson Thanks for getting back to me. As a last resort as it works with your Windows 8 I have tried yet again to connect my laptop to my TV by both HDMI lead and by Intel® Wireless Display. And I have finally found the problem. It lies with the Intel® WiDi and not the HDMI port. If I connect my laptop to my TV using the Intel® WiDi the BT Sports stream immediately cuts out. And then if I connect the HDMI lead it still cuts out. I have discovered that I need to actually go into the Devices Settings on my laptop and disconnect the Intel® WiDi Display (my TV). Then if I re-connect my laptop to the TV by the HDMI lead only then hey presto it works!!! So you are right in saying that it probably had nothing to do with the HDMI DRM issue so yet again I have been given duff information by BT Sport Technical Support. It must be clearly down to Intel® WiDi compatability issues. I can live with that. The performance is better anyway using an HDMI lead rather than wirelessly as there is no lag or picture break-up.
If however anyone else has actually got Intel® WiDi to work with BT Sport I would be interested to hear from you. Thanks
