T42 2374-BL6 help (drivers) :(

Ok I just had to re-install the OS on my T42, Xp pro totally froze up on start and I didnt know what was causing it, so I reformatted and put XP home on there.
Slight problem, I dont have any driver CD's for the laptop, and I cannot find any of them on the lenovo support section of their site
The serial number is: 2374-BL6
I put this is the search box and it came up with something different.
I pretty much need all drivers, but the wireless card one would be the best best first.
If you can help I would be most grateful.
P.S New member, greetings.

All you need is here:
 http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-55386
BTW, your wireless card is Inrel 2100B when you start looking for drivers.
Make sure that you unpack every single driver after downloading by running the setup file in the Win subfolder under Drivers folder.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
George

  • Need Drivers for T42 (2374)

I upgraded my thinkpad T42 with Windows XP Professional and now am missing a ton of drivers. I can't even get wireless to work.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK, to start you off with something:
    Ethernet driver:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62922
After downloading it, you must unpack it from C>Drivers>Win>Ethernet
    Wireless card:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67214
    C>Drivers>Win>Wlanath
The basicprinciple is the same for all drivers. Just watch the path where a particular driver is downloaded in the Win subfoleder, and unpack it from there.
    Hope this helps

  • Windows 7 on a ThinkPad T42 (2374)

I've just purchased a used T42 that had Win XP on it and plan to hand it over to my older daughter. I've installed Windows 7 (Home Premium) and many hardware components work. A few important ones, however, don't and I've spent most of the evening wandering around the downloads area. No joy, though. The Wi-Fi adapter doesn't work (that's the really important one). Windows doesn't even see that an adapter exists but I know it's there because it worked under Win XP. The sound doesn't work either (important but not critical). I suppose I could buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter but my preference would be to get the internal device working. From what I've read here, it appears that identifying the right drivers depends on more than just the model (T42) and type (2374). The product ID from the bottom of the case is 2374T64. Can anyone direct me to the right drivers? Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here's the final after-action summary:
Audio: The Windows Update process found the appropriate drivers and installed them.
Wi_Fi: The Windows Update process found the appropriate drivers and installed them. The notebook system is now connected to my WPA2 Wi-Fi system.
The update process downloaded and installed approximately 1,437 other updates, patches, and security fixes.
This antique computer with a tiny (40GB) hard drive is now running Windows 7.
    Thanks for all the encouragement!

  • T42 Type 2379 DXU drivers needed

    Hi,
I recently had to reformat my T42 2379 DXU and I was unaware of what could happen to the drivers. Right now I cannot use the internet amongst other things. Apparently the driver information was deleted for the following:
Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, Network Controller, PCI modem, Unknown Device, Video Controller (VGA compatible).
I was told that if I got the ethernet driver I could find the rest. Unfortunately I have been unsuccessful, I have gone over through most of the drivers at the site and it still doesn't work. Is there something else I should be doing?
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

You might also try installing ThinkVantage System Update - it's there in George's 2nd link - and running that.  It is supposed to pull down and install all the appropriate apps.  [edit] It does require getting some kind of networking working first...
That's the traditional way to get everything running after a clean install.  It _does_ sometimes leave a few "?" in device manager that require manual installation.

  • T42 (2374-E88) - Wont Power Up

A friend asked me to see if I could get his Type 2374-E88 T42 working. It had not been used in a few years and had neither a port replicator nor a power adapter. I purchased a power adaptor, confirmed it is providing the required 16v output, but there is no response from the machine when I press the power button. I tried removing the battery, hard drive and RAM, waiting 30 seconds, reinstalling the RAM, reconnecting the power adapter and trying again with the same lack of response.
I fear it is a system board problem but wanted to poll you experts to see if there might be some other steps I could take to confirm that. If it is the system board, I'm up to trying to replace it if I can get one for under $200 but first have to figure out what the correct part number is for the board. (The Lenovo service parts manual does not contain a reference for the 2374-E88).
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

  • Audio driver help: Drivers too old, don´t know where to find new ones

As i said in the title, IDT high def audio codecs for my machine are nowhere to be found and HP autodetect tool seems to think my laptop does not exist.
    http://www.alza.cz/EN/hp-pavilion-dv6-6130ec-d245498.htm#popis
This is my laptop. Pretty old one, had it for 3 years now. Lately im experiencing audio trouble of 1-2 seconds delay between action and corresponding sound. For example, If i get an error, i hear the sound 2 seconds later.
According to my DxDiag the audio drivers are over 3 years old now, and i cannot for the life of me find any IDT drivers on the internet that are compatible with my machine.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hello, @majogl
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're looking to update the Audio driver. I will try to assist you with this.
Here is the drivers page for your notebook: HP Pavilion dv6-6130ec Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.
The audio driver listed is the only one available for the notebook. I was however, able to find this one: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver. Not much newer, but should work and is newer than the website.
Try it and see if it helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP forums.

  • Please help --- Drivers for SB0220. OEM in liew of retail pa

    Hi all,
This is my first post here, although I have been reading up the posts here regularly to troubleshoot problems with my SoundBlaster sound cards -- and thanks to all of you. I have used a few of them till date, a SB Li've! 5. DE, a SB Li've! (with digital out), a PCI 4. Digital, and even a good old Vibra.
Anyway, my problem pertains to the mystery that surround the so-called OEM SoundBlaster cards and ?Creative's involvement with them -- and of course a "good old" driver issue.
I got my Creative SB Li've! 5. DE card in 2002 (so this way past the "warranty"). This was a box-packed retail version. I don't remember the model number that was marked (number on the right top corner) on it though, but it worked fine -- as long as I used it with the accomanying CD. However, when I tried updating the drivers using the latest drivers from the Creative website, I would get a message that said something like this "No soundblaster card is detected...." Anyway, the software and drivers from the CD worked fine. However, just before the warranty was about to expire, the sound card suddenly stopped working and I returned it the importers/distributors from whom I had purchased it. Incidentally, I li've in India. When I first started looking for this sound card, I could not find it anywhere in the stores, so I had to order it directly from one of the authorized importers for India, Compuage Infocom Limited (www.compuageindia.com). Compuage promptly sent me a replacement with a similar-looking card, but it said "Creative SB Li've!" Those days I did not have a 5. speaker set and I used this card with the default drivers from the OS.
Finally, last month when I got a 5. speaker set (Creative Inspire 5200), I was horrified to learn that this card (the one Compuage sent me as replacement) did not support 5. speakers! On taking a closer look, I discovered that the card was marked CT4830. I looked up the Creative Asia website, and there was no mention of such a card!! Googling confirmed that this was indeed an OEM card. I could not believe that I had been given an OEM card in lieu of my retail card. I wrote back to the importers. They told me that they would replace it with a 5. card (even though it was way past warranty). Well, I sure was glad. I soon received a replacement card and this time it said "Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital." (Note: This was not Digital Entertainment and only Digital). The model number is SB0220 (Serial number on the other side = C6SB02294370385Q). Now this card is also supposed to be an OEM card. As luck would have it, I have not been able to install the sound card (using the original CD that I had), or the latest ones for the 5. series of cards from the Creative website -- the card is simply not detected as a Sound Blaster card. It has been a big headache and I feel like throwing it in the dustbin. I talked to Compuage (the importer for India) and the tech guy there insists that it is the "same card." While I am trying to troubleshoot this issue, my questions are:
. How come Creative (I am attributing this to Creative as Compuage is one of only two authorized importers for their products in India) giving OEM cards to their retail customers when giving out replacement cards (warranty replacements)? In fact, this would lead me to believe that maybe Creative itself is retailing OEM cards through their vendors --- could it be true? Is this the reason that so many of us unwittingly end up with these OEM cards from Creative? Is this FAIR?
    2. Secondly and most importantly, how do I solve this problem? Which Creative drivers should I use? I know I can try the KX project drivers and maybe try those from www.driverguide.com -- but what about Creative Drivers -- am I not entitled to Creative Drivers having been an authentic retail customer?
I would really appreciate inputs from everyone, esp., the moderators.
    Thanks in advance.

okay well i tryed the patching method on all of the isos i had after extracting them.
I patched it and it said it was successful. when i ran each successi've setup it still didnt detect any soundblaster hardware.
I also went to compaq and tryed a driver i found there without any luck. Im thinking at this point it is an OEM
Although i still dont understand how you got compaq from the model number, im going to continue looking around their site.
Maybe ill luck out but so far im about to the point im ready to throw this @#$%@%#@$@##@$#@$% thing away lol.
Im looking on driver guide now again. :Sighs This is so aggrivating Normally i wouldnt have bought a card without the drivers but
my wifes the one that got it and she didnt know. Oh well......
You can get the model information from here.
You can also try by installing kX drivers -> if kX package don't get installed, your card may have some problems.

  • T42 (2374) Hard Disk

    Hi all,
a friend gave me an old IBM thinkpad 2374, without Hard Disk (removed because damaged).
I would like to find a compatible hard disk, install on it and use it with Windows XP and office (well, it would beel used by my ittle son). But .... I don't know, what kind of hard disk should I search for?
Can anybody suggest me anything, please?
    Thanks in advance
    Jazzrock71

ThinkPads of that generation used a parallel ATA also known as IDE interface for HDDs. Today they all use a serial ATA or SATA interface.
IDE drives are hard to find new and are usually quite expensive. Your best bet is probably something from eBay, e.g. Brand New 2.5" HDD IDE PATA 40GB Hard Disk Drive For laptop TOP Quality CA AAA for US$14. The seller claims the drives are new. I suspect they are actually used/refurbished.

    computerNerd, welcome to the forum,
You can find all drivers for your T42 on this site. I suggest you start with the Intel Chipset driver and then the Ethernet driver, after this you should use System Update as suggested by stealthth as this will install drivers for you automatically.

  • T42 WLAN problem: DecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter

Have problem with my T42 (2374 BW7) running under XP SP3, no other updates installed.
Wired network works fine, no problems with IP config, DHCP, connections, etc. But wireless works only sometimes. I am connected via D-Link DI-624+, wlan is configured as WPA-PSK and all other machines like PCs and mobile connect perfectly, only T42 has problem. It looks like T42 is not allowed to get IP from DHCP. Error message in AcccessConnection says that I ahve to check my DHCP settings (which are OK!), browsing via AccessConnection DEBUG LOG I see lot of entries like this:
ERROR Access Connections( magda(Prvlg).3412.2748) [7/15]11:50:31:584 CAcCryptHlpr:ecryptDataUsingMsCsp: Invalid Parameter
I tried to use simple WEP instead of WPA-PSK - no progress, still no connection in most cases. I also tried to connect directly via XP application (no with Access Connections) - the same case.
Any hints from you? What to check now?

    Hi
You have to configure an AP-Group & then add your WLAN to your AP group. Since WLAN-ID is greater than 16 those will not advertise by default-ap group.
It should be something similar to this
    ap group APG-1
     wlan wifitest
      vlan xx
     wlan test3
      vlan yy
     wlan open
      vlan zz
Then you need to put your AP in to that AP group from default ap-group. You can do that via CLI using below syntax.AP will reboot during this process.
    3850#ap name <AP1-Name> ap-groupname APG-1
    y
    3850#ap name <AP2-Name>  ap-groupname APG-1
    y
    3850#ap name <APn-Name>  ap-groupname APG-1

  • T420S does not initialize NIC driver via DOS Boot key

    Hello,
I am trying to boot a T420S laptop via DOS.  When the "net initialize" command is executed  the driver never gets initialized.  This is the first time I've encountered this problem.  I have used my DOS boot key on previous lenovo models (T410, T400, T61, X300, T60, T43, T42).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    FO

I am having the same problem, brand new shipment of T420s models, BIOS 1.24 (not even available on the drivers website), and none of my Netboot/Ghost boot tools work. I can get it to netboot to a TFTP server but it wont load my Ghost image (freezes as "transferring image file"), nor do my USB or CD Ghost boot tools work. I randomly got it to load off a Ghost CD once correctly, but after that, it loads and fails to intiailize the UNDI driver (as if PXE was turned off, which it isnt).
This is pretty frustrating since there are no newer BIOS revisions yet, and I cant image them for deployment...
