T42 Showing Incorrect Adapter Name in Access Connections

I am working on a T42 laptop and installed Access Connections 5.12.  I have gone through and did all the prerequisites prior to installation of Access Connections (wireless driver update, UltraNav Driver upgrade, Video Upgrade, BIOS upgrade, LAN driver update, etc).  I have created a profile for a wireless network that is in range and operational.  My problem is the adapter is showing incorrectly within Access Connections.  This wireless adapter is identified correctly in device manager as "11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter".  But in Access Connections, it is showing as "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN".  I am needing this to identify the correct adapter to get Access Connections to work.  Any ideas?

Hi jeremieolson,
Unless you need to use Access Connections to switch among multiple *wired* networks, I'd suggest simply un-installing Access Connections and using the built-in Windows tools for establishing your wireless connection. Windows will let you establish wireless profiles just like Access Connections does. AFAIK Access Connections doesn't add anything to the built-in Windows wireless networking, and in your case it's misbehaving, so...

  • Why does my ibook HD show a different name when accessing over network?

I am including the details below for some industrious soul to peruse. In a nutshell, I have renamed my old computers internal drive (no problem), but when I connect to it via network from my new computer it still comes up as the old HD name instead of the new name that I gave it.
Is this normal to have the name of the HD sitting on the desktop not be the same as the name seen when connecting over my LAN? Or am I seeing the beginnings of trouble? Permission repairs don't come up with anything, nor does Disk Utility.
Thanks for the advise, and here's the details:
After buying a new iMac, I decided to rename my ibook's drive from Macintosh HD to iBook HD-- so I wouldn't confuse myself when networkign the two together. Seems I have confused the computers, however. After renaming my ibook HD, when I connect to it over my network I see the following under My Network:
    TBB iBook G4
    TBB-ibook-G4
Thomas Bailey 2's iBook G4 (apparently this comes from an administrator account I temporarily created and then later deleted)
When I click on the first computer name, I get the Connect to Server dialog Box, where I put in my main admin user login info. I then get a shoice of volumes to mount, which shows my admin user name and the old name of the hard drive (Macintosh HD).

    Hi Thomas!
Is your iBook hard drive possibly the same name as one of your account names?

  • UD Datasource Proposal Tab Shows Incorrect Column Names

I created a UD datasource in BW and the "Proposal" tab showed me the correct column names for the table I had selected.  A couple of column names were then changed for this table in the source system but they are not showing up in the "Proposal" tab (the old column names are still there).  I refreshed and reactivated the source system in BW but it didn't work.  Any ideas on how to get the new column names to show up in the "Proposal" tab?  Thanks for any help on this.

    hi,
check with the following steps you carried out in the ud data source creation.
You are in the DataSource tree in the Data Warehousing Workbench.
           1.      Select the application components in which the DataSource is to be created and choose Create DataSource.
           2.      In the next screen, enter a technical name for the DataSource, select the type of the DataSource and choose Copy.
    The DataSource maintenance screen appears.
           3.      Go to the General tab page.
                                a.      Enter descriptions for the DataSource (short, medium, long).
                                b.      If necessary, specify if the DataSource builds an initial non-cumulative and supplies potentially duplicate data records within a request.
           4.      Go to the Extraction tab page.
                                a.      Define the delta method for the DataSource.
                                b.      Specify whether you want the DataSource to support direct access to data.
                                c.      UD Connect does not support real-time data acquisition.
                                d.      The system displays Universal Data Connect (Binary Transfer) as the adapter for the DataSource.
Choose Properties if you want to display the general adapter properties.
                                e.      Select the UD Connect source object.
The connection to the UD Connect source is established. All source objects that are available in the selected UD Connect source can be selected using input help. Source objects can be multi-dimensional storage or relational objects.
           5.      Go to the Proposal tab page.
The system displays the elements of the source object (for JDBC for example fields, or for XMLA and ODBO characteristics and key figures) and creates a mapping proposal for DataSource fields. The mapping proposal is based on the similarity of the names of the source object element and DataSource field and the compatibility of the respective data types.
Note that source object elements can have a maximum of 90 characters. Both upper and lower case are supported.
                                a.      Check the mapping and change the proposed mapping as required. Assign the non-assigned source object elements to free DataSource fields.
You cannot map elements to fields if the types are incompatible. The system produces an error message in this case.
                                b.      Under Copy to Field List, select the fields that you want to transfer to the field list for the DataSource. All fields are selected by default.
           6.      Maintain the Fields tab page.
Here you edit the fields that you transferred to the field list of the DataSource from the Proposal tab page.
                                a.      Under Transfer, specify the decision-relevant DataSource fields that should be available for extraction and transferred to BI.
                                b.      If required, change the values for the key fields of the source.
These fields are generated as a secondary index in the PSA. This is important in ensuring good performance for data transfer process selections, in particular with semantic grouping.
                                c.      If required, change the data type for a field.
                                d.      Specify whether the source provides the data in the internal or external format.
                                e.      If you choose an External Format, ensure that the output length of the field (external length) is correct. Change the entries, as required.
                                  f.      If required, specify a conversion routine that converts data from an external format into an internal format.
                                g.      Select the fields for which you want to be able to set selection criteria when you schedule a data request using an InfoPackage. Data for this type of field is transferred in accordance with the selection criteria specified in the InfoPackage.
                                h.      Choose the selection options (such as EQ, BT) that you want to be available for selection in the InfoPackage.
                                  i.      Under Field Type, specify whether the data to be selected is language-dependent or time-dependent, as required.
    Note
If you did not transfer the field list from a proposal, you can define the fields of the DataSource directly. Choose Insert Row and enter a field name. You can specify InfoObjects in order to define the DataSource fields. Under Template InfoObject, specify InfoObjects for the fields of the DataSource. This allows you to transfer the technical properties of the InfoObjects into the DataSource field.
Entering InfoObjects here does not equate to assigning them to DataSource fields.  Assignments are made in the transformation. When you define the transformation, the system proposes the InfoObjects you entered here as InfoObjects that you might want to assign to a field.
           7.      Check, save and activate the DataSource.
           8.      Go to the Preview tab page.
If you select Read Preview Data, the number of data records you specified in your field selection is displayed in a preview.
This function allows you to check whether the data formats and data are correct.
    Result
The DataSource is created and added to the DataSource overview for the UD Connect source system in the application component in the Data Warehousing Workbench. When you activate the DataSource, the system generates a PSA table and a transfer program.
You can now create an InfoPackage. You define the selections for the data request in the InfoPackage. The data can be loaded into the entry layer of the BI system, the PSA. Alternatively you can access the data directly if the DataSource allows direct access and you have a VirtualProvider in the definition of the data flow.

  • WCS shows incorrect AP names on the heat maps

After priming nine APs, removing them from the system, installing them, and firing them up, I noticed that some of the names of the APs shown on the WCS heatmap are incorrect.
The names shown start with "AP" followed by the AP MAC address. I made sure that the WLC had the correct AP names (it did - in the case of the attached screen shots, the correct names appear with "612-".)
What is especially odd is that while all the names were correct in the WLC, only some of the AP names were correct in the WCS.
Clicking on the REFRESH button did not fix this. The workaround was to force the WCS to refresh its configuration from the WLC. However, I don't believe that is going to be a long-term solution.
Has anyone else seen this apparent synchronization issue?

I called TAC and they suggested doing a REFRESH FROM CONTROLLER from the WCS.
This seemed to kick the WCS in the pants and the problem has not recurred.
Also, when adding LWAPs, I now do so from the WCS user interface and do not the WLC GUI and this seems to work out better.

  • OBIEEReports called through Office Plugin showing incorrect dimension names

    Hi
I have a few reports created in Answers which are being displayed perfectly fine in OBIEE Portal. But when I am trying to fetch the same reports in a Power Point or an Excel using MS Office Plugin, I get saw_0, saw_1, ... in place of actual dimension names in some reports. Though it works fine in some other reports. I can see no difference in the properties or any other setting of the reports which are working fine and which are not.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Looks like there is a bug in Office Plugin of OBIEE wherein if there is an underscore (_) in name of the dimension, Office Plugin ignores the part of the name which is before the underscore and thats why assigns the default names saw_0, saw_1 etc. to unknown dimension names.
The problem doesn't come for reports which are coming out of those dimensions which are either having single word names or multiple word names with spaces (because in case of spaces, the OBIEE engine automatically assigns double quotes to the name of the dimension and makes it recognisable to Office plugin)

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I share your pain with same Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn.  After many, many hours yesterday I am now solidly running Wireless N at 144 Mbps on a LinkSys E4200, 99% reception from 30 feet away.
Previous to yesterday I could not get 'N' to work at all.
First, if you have a newer dual frequency Router, this Intel adapter only supports 2.4ghz..
    1. I am using Access Connections 5.85, Windows 7
    2. Router: 2.4 Ghz Network Mode: Mixed
    3. On my LinkSys router Channel: Auto NEVER worked for either  'G' or 'N'.  I picked channel 4 by chance and things got better.  No further experiments.
    3. Channel Width: Auto (20mhz or 40mhz).
    4. Earlier forums indicate WPA2-P and AES must be selected.  That's what I am running.
    5. Numerous references to "power" conflicts.  Set all Power Management to Maximum Power.
(Control Panel -> Device Manager ->Network Adapters -> Intel WiFi Link 1000 bgn -> Power Management)
(Access Connections -> Wireless Settings -> 4. Advanced Configuration-> Maximum Performance)
If you followed these steps, Wireless G should be working stabily for you now.
Now for the secret sauce to make Wireless N work:  go to http://communities.intel.com/message/82098#82098
See Feb 3, 2010 post How to get 5100 AGN to connect at N speed?
I am indebted to this guy.
Save the instructions!  For some reason my EDGE 14 wireless totally quit this week and that's what sent me down this wireless rabbit hole again.  At least this time I was able to make N mode work for the first time.
    Frustrated but relieved,
    Lew

  • Invalid adapter name"c/CVI Flexible Prototype Adapter" Error code:-17336.

    Hi,
After replacing the mainboard of the test computer and activating Windows, test station shows "Invalid adapter name"c/CVI Flexible Prototype Adapter" . Invalid adapter name. Error code:-17336"  when we try to run TestStand Sequence(4.2.1.83). Could you help to guide. Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,
I would agree with Doug regarding checking the licensing in the License Manager, deactivating if it is activated and then reactivating. It is possible that the MAC address changed when you switched out the motherboard and this would cause the computer ID to change and render your current licensing invalid. If this does not solve the situation, could you specify when this error occurs? Is this when you open Teststand or when you try to run a particular program? Do you have a base or debug deployment Teststand license?
I look forward to your response and hope that you have a great day!

  • Access Connections Message

I have an X201 Thinkpad and Windows 7.  A message keeps popping up on my screen telling me the status of my "Access Connections" - either that I am connected or that I am not connected.   The problem is that it happens frequently and disrupts what I am doing as it has to be cleared before I can continue.  Anyone know how to disable these messages? Thank you.

    Hi,
if I catched correctly what you want to achieve, then do it like this:
Open AC and fo to "Tools" tab and open the "Global Settings".
Now go to "Notification" tab and UNcheck all the 3 options, that you see there.
Now confirm the changes and back in the "Tools" select "Iser Preferences" and make sure, that the middle option "Do not show balloon tips from the Access Connection system" is checked.
Confirm all changes and check, if this is what you are looking for.
If not, then let me know exactly what you are looking for and what is the issue. Maybe a screenshot would be good.
    Cheers

Sounds like you may have been in extended display mode. If so, all you had to do was drag a window to the projector display. Or, if you wanted mirrored mode, in display preferences select check mirror display.

For those who have problems RE: My iPhone 4 connecting to my pc shows my friends name in the DIGITAL camera Drive..It dsiplays my correct name when I`m on iTunes..PLEASE HELP ME HOW DO I CHANGE THE NAME IN THE DIGITAL CAMERA DRIVE??
    SOLUTION:
    Iam pointing t0 windows7 os.
    1) go to control panel
    2) open hardware and sound
    3) In that open Devices and printers
4)In that u can find Apple Iphone.
    5) now right click on this --> Hardware --> Properties --> General --> Uninstall --> ok.
    6) now unplug and plug in ur iphone again. There u go u iphone name changes to its original name.

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • Why is my application name not showing up in the SQL Server connection properties?

If I understand correctly I should be able to have the application name from application.cfc show up in my SQL Server connection string (i.e. in the program_name column of sp_who2) if I go in to the DSN advanced settings and check "Application Name" under Client Settings.
However having done that I still don't see anything in the program name columns of the sp_who2 result set. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I drew my shape, then went to the GRADIENT panel and clicked in the default gradient box to apply the default white to black gradient.  Normally you can click on either color to change it using the ways I described in my original post but those are not available to me.  The only way I could add a color was to drag it from the SWATCHES panel into the gradient colors slider.
This means that I cannot make changes to colors directly in the gradient panel like before.  I have to make changes to the individual colors but clicking on the color in the gradient slider then going to the COLOR panel and adjusting the color there. Or by dragging in a whole new color from the COLOR or SWATCHES panels.  This is really killing my work flow.

  • FF16 always fails to sync, it always shows "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this."

I'm having this problem since few releases ago, whenever I start FF, it always fails to sync, showing this line on the bottom "Sync encountered an error while syncing: Incorrect account name or password. Sync will automatically retry this action". First thought that the prob was incorrect credentials, but I can freely log-in https://account.services.mozilla.com I tried unlinking and linking my device again, it still happens.
I waited thinking that they'll fix this, from a release to another, today updated to the last version and it still happened.

    Awaiting reply,
    Thanks.

I am having this problem with FF 19.0.2 on Win 7 Pro. The sequence of events is:
    1. Start Firefox. Get the error bar about incorrect account name or password EVERY time. I close the bar. If I wait a while and then ask FF to try again the error bar reappears.
    2. Click on preferences from the bar, and get a dialog "Your password was rejected by the server, please update your password." I click "update" and then am prompted for the master password for the security device. I enter that and am presented with an "update password" dialog.
    3. Enter my old password and click "update password." Receive error message "Password incorrect, please try again." I click update again and get the message "Your password has been changed."
    4. However now Sync no longer seems to be set up. I go through the setup ritual again, and find I am back where I started.
I have cleared cookies, tried everything in safe mode, and unlinked and relinked the computer. I have verified I have the right password entered at [https://account.services.mozilla.com/ https://account.services.mozilla.com/] None of this helped. The problem is still there, even in safe mode.

I had this exact same problem with Access Connections 5.2 and Windows 7 (and have also had similar problems with Access Connections over the years) and it always boils down to updating the following and other drivers to the latest versions:
    Power Manager
    Wi-fi drivers
    Ethernet drivers
    Hotkey buttons and features
NOTE: Don't rely on the Auto Update Utility and always do it manually - sometimes uninstall Access Connections and re-install after appying these updates. I did it and the problem is gone after reboot.
Maybe some other driversalso  need updating depending on the version of Access Conections so read the readme which for AC 5.72 in this case is
