T42 & T43 Thinkpad Keyboards not working after taking from docking station

I have a t42 and t43 thinkpads, both are having the same problem.
The keyboards appeared to be disabled, I have uninstalled, reinstalled drivers etc.
Reseated keyboards physically and they still wont work.
The glide pads work.
The only way I can get a keyboard to work in via the docking station.
Power buttons doesn't work either.
Any ideas?
It's almost like the keyboards are disabled, but I have checked every setting possible.
Is it possible to disable the keyboard? If so, how to reverse?

Welcome to the forum.
Have you considered the possibility of keyboards going bad? Improperly connected? A non-functioning ower button is pretty much a dead giveaway for one of these options...
It is not possible to disable an internal keyboard, BTW.
Cheers,
George

Hi and welcome to the forum!
Does the keyboard work fine inside the BIOS?
Also try booting from LiveCD of Ubuntu, if issue remains then the keyboard is faulty.

File -> Export not working after upgrade from 11i to R12.1.3 in few systems. Can you please let me know what could be the issue.
If export record count more than 200 it is working fine in all the systems and if change the profile option "Export MIME type” value to ‘text/tab-separated-values’ from application/excel also it is wokring.

I attempted to ask this question, yesterday. However, I am not used to typing with my thumbs, yet, and messed it up some. So, I will give this another try. Auto brightness does not work after upgrade from iOS 5 to iOS 6 on my iPod touch. Is this intended by Apple, or is it a bug?

Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?
iOS 6 changed how that feature works.

  • USB Keyboard not working after running Monolingual

Okay, I'm not a Mac person and should have known that I was going to mess up my mother's iMac, but here it is -
In an attempt to improve the mac's performance I performed all of the actions described in the following article: 11 Ways to Optimize your Mac's Performance     ( http://lowendmac.com/eubanks/07/0312.html ). Basically, I cleaned up files and 'other' system preferences. Things seemed to be fine and the computer did run much better. However, after running Monolingual and deleting what I understood to be 'unnecessary' PowerPC files the standard USB keyboard is no longer working.
I've tried to search for various remedies, but have come to a dead end. So I'm left with reinstalling the Snow Leopard OS (I think it is 10.6.8?) BUT I can't because it is asking to input the account password (which I know) to make the change and I can't figure how to do that when the keyboard not working.
    Any help would be great!
    *feeling like a bone head*

How are you trying to reinstall Snow Leopard? If you're booting from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD that came with the system then that should eliminate any of the issues you may or may not have caused when you deleted did the clean up work on your mom's system.
    I suggest trying the following:
    0) Verify that the caps lock key is off. It can make inputting passwords difficult if you don't realize it is ON.
    1) Reset the PRAM by restarting the system then quickly press the command-option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears. Wait until you hear the computer restarts two times as indicated by the startup chime. For more info refer to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379.
    2) If the issue persists after the PRAM reset then boot from the Snow Leopard or iMac Install DVD, whichever you have. Once you see the menu asking you to choose a language try using the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the language choice selection. If the arrow keys are working at this point it indicates your keyboard is at least partially functional. Go ahead and select the language then proceed to step 3.
    3) Once the next screen appears move the cursor up to the menu bar area and pull down the Utilities menu. Select the 'Terminal' application. Once the Terminal application launches try typing the various keys on the keyboard and check to see if the correct characters are displayed. Please let us know if you detect any errors. If there are no errors then you should be able to quit the Terminal application and proceed with reintstalling the OS.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg and keyboard not working after upgrade.

after a `# pacman -Syyu` I got Xorg not starting and keyboard not working: I am unable to do anything.
I'm posting here pacman's log that I got by booting an Ubuntu Live CD: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/7517806

How do you recover a system once it's gone like this? Many thanks in advance.

    Just my 1.46¢
You're right, problem wasn't actually solved. In fact, yesterday I upgraded the whole system again and the same problem showed up, but I got it fixed.
Same scenario: after a boot (shorter than usual), what I had was a tty, but I noticed something that I hadn't noticed the last time: the prompt said "Arch Linux 3.11.[?]".
The kernel version was supposed to be 3.12.[?] so I started investigating and after several attempts, this is how I got the system working again:
    1. Chrooted into the system
    2. Wiped /boot
    3. Re-installed grub
    4. Re-installed linux kernel
    5. Re-created grub.cfg
    6. ???
    7. Profit
I'm pretty sure that what originated the problem wasn't a "kernel issue" as I pointed out in my previous post, but it was an incorrect installation of grub: in fact, the grub prompt never showed up before yesterday, the system used to boot straight, ignoring the 5 seconds timeout.

  • ODI Procedures not working after upgrading from 10G to 11G

    Hello Gurus,
We have run into a scenario where the procedures in ODI are not working after we upgraded it from 10G to 11G (11.1.1.6). However we can make it to run if we create the procedure from scratch.
Also we are having issues related to packages where in the packages were running before we applied the patch 11.1.1.6.3. And after applying the patches they are not running.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

If you want someone to help you, please be elaborate in the exact errors you are getting.
A general statement would do nothing but guess work.
What is the error that you get while executing the procedure.
What are the exact issues that you get while executing packages ?

  • TS2634 After I updated my iPod touch with iOS6, it does not work with my Logitech docking station. Is this a problem with iOS6?

Does updating the 4th generation iPod touch with iOS6 keep it from working with a Logitech docking station/boombox? Nothing is wrong with the boombox.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
iOS: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If it still does not work that means that the update broke compatibility. That happens sometimes. You will have to wait for an update to either iPod's iOS or the dock's firmware.

    Hi,
I have this problem since I have my notebook. Is a sony vaio cs.
After suspend to ram the keyboard does't work.
I've read in other forums that is a general gnu/linux problem, not only arch, and I think is related with the i8042 driver and generally hp pavillions have it.

I had this issue for almost a year with my Sony CS190. After a clean install, it still exists. So,
After suspending the keyboard doesn't work, and unbinding/binding i8042 only helps touchpad, not keyboard.
EDIT: PS: Keyboard & Touchpad work fine after hibernate.

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working after 10.7.2 update

Just got around to installing the 10.7.2 update this morning, and afterwards could not connect my Apple bluetooth keyboard. I've also had some difficulty with my Apple mightymouse (yes, it's old, but I love it). I tried restarting with the keyboard and mouse off and trying to re-connect using the Bluetooth preferences, both SMC reset and PRAM reset, repairing disk permissions, and all of the suggestions on this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16377827#16377827
So far nothing has worked. My mouse began working again after the initial restart with both bluetooth devices off, but the keyboard isn't being detected in either the Keyboard setup or the Bluetooth setup assistance. The keyboard, however, was detected by my iPad, and was working with this computer before the update. I've made sure that the bluetooth on my iPad is off so as not to confuse it, and it's still not working.

Well, I found a solution. After removing the bluetooth preferences as directed in this article (which didn't help me, but might somoeone else): http://ismashphone.com/2011/08/how-to-fix-bluetooth-pairing-in-mac-os-x-lion-iss ues.html
There was a software update that fixed this. Thank goodness. So if like me you're just getting around to doing the update, after the big 10.7.2 one, check software update again. I assumed it would be all rolled in to the same update, but that was not the case.

  • MacBook pro Keyboard not working after coffee spillage. Possible replacement?

    Hi there,
4 days ago I spilled coffee (nescafe with sugar, no milk) over my Macbook (mid 2012 non-retina). I turned it off instantly and I've put it upside down. Then I opened it and I started to dry the notebook.
I had few attempts to turn on over the weekend, only one successful, so I gave it a rest until today.
Today I did complete teardown of the laptop with a friend, I sprayed all of the parts with special electronic-contact spray and I was able to turn it on sucessfully.
However I figured out that when I turn the laptop with keyboard connected (regular MacBook keyboard, not external), then there were 90% chances that it will turn off before even booting.
So I spilled ethanol over the keyboard few times, sprayed with the same spray, but no luck. It seems the keyboard is making some non-desired contacts with some electronic part.
The laptop is working without a keyboard, but I would like to change it if possible.
Is there a possibility to change the keyboard? I don't have official Apple store in my country, so I was thinking maybe ordering from ebay. Any suggestions on where I can order a keyboard?

Do a Google or Bing search for your model MBP which you did not indicate.  Check out the iFixit website.

    Liquid Spill
If you believe you’ve spilled anything (water, soda, trendy energy drink, etc.) on your Apple notebook, shut it down immediately, lest you continue short-circuiting your computer and thus blasting small holes through its components. Just because your computer works for a while after you’ve spilled liquid on it doesn’t mean you’re in the clear. Damage from liquid spills start out small and difficult to diagnose, and then over time spreads to become larger functional issues.
The best thing to do in this case is to take your Mac to an Apple-authorized service center. But if you are feeling handy and are OK with voiding your AppleCare warranty (AppleCare does not cover accidental damage), you can clean your computer yourself. Unplug it, open it up, and disconnect the battery and all connections to the logic board. Then sit the open computer by a fan while gently scrubbing all sections of the logic board with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol. Clean both the top and bottom of the logic board if possible, then let the exposed MacBook dry in the path of the fan overnight before piecing everything back together and turning the computer back on. With any luck, the crisis will be over.

  • Bluetooth keyboard not working after sleep *windows8* FIX

Its pretty simple actually.  It might not work for you, but let me know if it does.  Untill bootcamp drivers are updated, I found that disabling the Bluetooth Network adater under Networking And Sharing in the control panel will allow my Keyboard to function again after waking up.  If you find that your keyboard is still paired, but not responding when your Windows 8 install wakes up after sleep, this might fix the problem for now.
If you have a notebook, I read on another forum that if you enable Bluetooth Collaboration under the device settings in Device Manager, you can fix this issue also.  Google for it if your interested.

I've noticed on mine that if it is coming out of Ssafe Sleep (you can see the progress bar at the bottom of the screen if it is) then the keyboard does take a bit to active.
This may not be your problem however just be sure you've been patient enough after waking.
