T420 - Dims automatically for specific application

T420
Plugged into power.
Power set to maximu.
Seems to only affect one program i.e. AS400
When on battery, it seems to be normal, only when plugged in, does it dim the screen when on that application. You open up mycomputer or anything else and it will be back to normal.

Disable "correct spelling automatically" for specific applications?

Is there a way to disable the "correct spelling automatically" on an application by abblication basis? I would like to use it in most apps, but want it disabled when I am doing web dev using programs like Coda. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't see anything in there about Apple's new built-in auto-correct feature. It looks like it deals mostly with Coda's own spell checker where it underlined words in red that it thinks are mis-spelled.
I did find that Coda released a software update to fix some Lion issues. I'm not sure if this update addressed the auto-correct issue, but in the few minutes I've using Coda since the software update I have not experienced the problem.

Hiding Dock Automatically For Certain Applications.

I really don't like the way the dock and Adobe CS4 applications compete for the same screen space. Is there any way to turn on dock hiding automatically for certain applications?

Change/Set permissions for specific application?!

I have at least one application that always enables GPS although it isn't needed --> more power consumption, I don't know why it is doing this. Additionally I have some applications I don't want to have access to the internet (at least if I'm not connected to Wifi).
On the other hand I have a java application that should have access to GPS and mobile data without asking every time for the permission.
Where/How can I achieve this? Why have some applications always to ask when others have permissions for things they don't need for proper function?

According to the best of my knowledge you can only access suite settings and change them according to your preferences for certain applications only. To be able to do so, go to Menu> Settings> Installations> Already Installed the open it. From there, you can only change specific application settings and I know mostly java applications use this method. To check on which applications that you can access and change the settings place your finger to the desired application and hold it and when you see suite settings then you can change it settings. Usually when you hold to an application there is view details and delete but when you see the extra option that is suite settings then open suite settings and change them to your preferences.

[Solved] How to use Oracle Java 6 for specific applications

I use an IDE called PyCharm. On its download page, it recommends using Java 6 instead of OpenJDK. I currently have jdk7-openjdk installed, and from what I had read in the Arch Wiki on Java, it should be possible to install Oracle Java 6 along side OpenJDK 7.
However, after installing jdk6-compat and jre6-compat, I still see that I am running OpenJDK 7 when I run the following:
% java -version
java version "1.7.0_09"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.3) (ArchLinux build 7.u9_2.3.3-1-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode)
...even after I have set JAVA_HOME and added /opt/java6/bin to my path.
How can I get PyCharm (or other applications) to use Oracle Java 6 instead of OpenJDK?

I found the solution.
For Pycharm, I just needed to add an environment variable PYCHARM_JDK. For running specific applications, I asked this question on the Unix / Linux StackExchange and got an answer there.
Also, after running PyCharm in Java 6... I would not recommend it. OpenJDK works fine

Older java for specific applications only

I have 1.5.0 and 1.6.0 java installed on Snow Leopard. If I drag the 32 bit 1.5.0 (aka J2SE 5.0) version to the top of the preferences list for apps, then Fonality HUD works as well as it did before I upgraded to Snow Leopard. If I leave the 64 bit 1.6.0 (aka Java SE 6.0) at the top, it crashes almost immediately. (And the 32 bit 6.0 does not make it work.)
But I don't want to make the downrev version my default java for all applications!
I tried uncommenting the 1.5.0 line in the Info.plist for HUD, per the comments there, but that did not work.
How can I tell this application to use 1.5.0 instead of 1.6.0 without affecting any other java apps I might want to run?

Apparently it runs 1.5 if you install it, for example http://wiki.oneswarm.org/index.php/OSX_10.6_SnowLeopard, which actually references the very application that I'm trying to make work: HUD.
And it DOES work just fine, following those instructions. I just don't like the idea of running 1.5.0 as my default java for all my applications when most of them will run fine (better!) with the official version of java for Snow Leopard.
Isn't there a way to tell one application to use a specific version of java? Does JAVA_HOME still do this? I tried that and failed, but maybe I did not set it to the correct value - the java command in 1.5.0 or something else?

Changing colours in rxvt for specific application

Yes, there is a way to make one-off terminal windows. One of the easiest is to simply change the 'name' resource of the terminal. In this example I have my xterm's normal background color set to a nearly black color and the alternate background set to a dark green.

! Alternate background
green*background: rgb:08/16/08
The normal background is called with the command 'xterm'. If I want to change to the alternate background, I use this command:
$ xterm -name green
Play with and read about the difference between instances and classes in X resources. You can also set many X resources for most Xlib programs from the command line. You'll have to RTFM.
Edit: The example code works when you substitute 'URxvt' or 'Rxvt' for the 'XTerm' class when using rxvt-unicode.

So, when you create a room, you specify the roomName and the template/application name from which you want to create the room. So, to create a room with MyFirstApp application template, you should do something like
accountManager.createRoom("roomName","MyFirstApp") ; // this is for java, convert in php
If you don't specify anything in the second parameter, it will be created from default template, which is empty of any collectionnodes/nodes. Please go through Room Provisioning section in our Developer Guide for more details.

For those items that are to be disabled, you could add a new style class to each cell control to indicate it's disabled. You could use a formatter function:

        return isRecordLocked ? "disabledStyle" : "";
where 'isRecordLocked' is the indicator in your data whether your record is locked, and 'disabledStyle' is the custom CSS class which caters for a disabled look of your cell.
If you need to suppress any press events for the locked records, you could do it in the same way.

Overriding shortcut keys for specific applications

How can I override the F9 key so that it works in Flash as its supposed to (open Actions dialog box)? I tried using the System Preferences but it isn't changing it. Flash will not allow me to reassign the key either. The F9 key shows all open windows even when Flash is active. Can I turn off the shortcut in System Preferences? I can't even find it...

Open system preferences and click on Keyboard & Mouse, then Keyboard Shortcuts. Scroll down to Dock, Expose and Dashboard, there you will find all the key settings for this.
Just click the box off for no key or click directly on F9 for All Windows and assign a new keystroke to it. You can choose an F key not already assigned or add a keystroke, such as control or option plus the F9 key.

Resizing Screen Resolution for Specific Apps?

Hello team,
Is it possible to resize screen resolution for specific applications? Most of my apps look fine at 1024x768, but there are a couple of older OS 9 apps that I need to run (talking school computers here) which are a bit on the small side when viewed at that resolution. Can I somehow set things so that when those applications are launched, the resolution changes to 800x600, and then reverts to 1024x768 when they're quit again? Any and all details about this will be most appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your help!

LCD panels must be used at their native resolution. Whatever it is for you monitor is what you must set it to.

Deploy library for specific app in WL8

Hello,
In WL10, it is possible to deploy a library for specific application. Could anyone tell me how this would be done in WL8?
Because the library should be seen by one application only and it conflicts with other application. Please helpppp..... :)

Pete, the fact to use exploded archive is not a bad practice.
Some of my clients have huge EARs and they don't have the choice if they want to update only a WAR.
As for the original problem, if your client application changes and so does your library, you'll have to update the whole stuff, right ?
Or you have for instance an EAR containing several webapps, with a JAR lib wich is used as an business interface.
And when you modify your application (one of your webapp) and the library, you don't want to update the whole EAR. Is my understanding ok ?
If so, solution proposed by Pete is the right one.

No Data to display in Application failure report for a specific Application

For a specific application,Application failure report showing no data to display but for the same application other reports shows value.
Application failure reports seems to work fine for some other application except few.Need to know the root cause.

Is there any error message when you run Application Failure Analysis report for the specific application?
Does this application have any failure alerts?
You may also look into operation manager even logs to check is there any errors or warnings.

Webdynpro ABAP application for specific Country

Hello Consultants
We have developed a custom Webdynpro ABAP application and the service is working alright.
The probelm is that this service is to be enabled only for one Country i.e. India and this should not be visible for other country users.
I have created resource, service and country-specific service for this application and linked the country-specific service to India. Even after doing this am not able to stop the availability of this service other countries.
Shall be thankful for an immediate response.

I am no expert on the topic but i can definitely answer your last question.
Yes, Webdynpro ABAP applications are available in the latest versions.I have seen this in ECC Enhancement Package 3 (ECC 603).
I can't really tell you much abt PCRs but the Requisition forms(SRQ3) in 603 are based on WDA application.If interested you can check the Recruitment work center in MSS.
Also, please ensure that the relevant Business Function/Services are activated when using the enhancement packages to see the relevant functionalities.
I think you need to activate the HCM administrative services BF available as of 602 . This definitely uses webdynpro ABAP applications in the portal.
