T420 Intel HD 3000 Dual Monitor Mini Dock Issue

I have a T420 with Intel HD 3000 using a Mini Dock, attached to Two external Monitor one VGA and the other one DVI, the problem is that the DVI won't work simultaneously with the VGA, after update the Intel HD driver to the last version available 9.17.10.2843, both monitors works simultaneously, but If I Reboot, Hibernate, Standby or Undock, only the primary monitor (VGA) works and the Extended (DVI) stop working.
I tried using another video driver version and updating the BIOS but not luck, Does any one know if there is a solution for this issue???

Are you trying to keep the internal display on when you connect to the external monitors?

  • T61p dual monitor with docking station, maximum resolution

I wonder what is the maximal resolution one can get with the quadro fx 570m. I specially want to reach the 2560x1600+2560x1600 with two 30'' monitors. Does anyone know about it or have experience with it?
    dual monitor with docking station

You will need the huge docking station with Dual-Display Port & DVI. Then it should work, but you will only be able to use 2 displays at once (one external+laptop LCD or 2 external). But I think you already know that.
VGA on such resolution would be suicidal and i doubt it would even work.

  • T440 - dual monitors without dock, using VGA and mini DP

Try to find out if a T440 can use its VGA and mini DP ports at the same time for dual monitor support (LCD can be closed.)  Can't seem to find this info anywhere, everything I come up against talks about a dock.
    Thanks.

There are "features" having to do with the amount of power supplied to run the adapters on the 5770 and 5870.
I suggest you use one DVI-to-VGA adapter for your best display. These VGA signals are present on the DVI-I output from the computer -- in the bar at one end and the four pins around it. The adapter used for this is just wires.
The longer story has to do with using much more expensive ACTIVE, Powered adapters, some even use a USB pigtail to pick up power from a USB to run signal drivers inside the adapters. These are Required to run three displays, but you can Usually get away with it for two.

  • IMac Dual Monitor, Mini-DP to DVI, Screen Blinking

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics.
Been using Snow Leopard here at work, running dual monitors via Mini-DP to DVI cable. Never a problem previously.
Upgraded to Mavericks. Enjoying it. Until the 2nd monitor (Acer v223w) started intermittently blinking. Discovered I can trigger the blinking via the mail program on the second window - hiding and/or showing the info/mail activity left-side panel will cause the screen to blink.
    Kinda befuddled. Any help?

I am having the excact same problem. With nearly if not an identicle system.
    24" Mid 2007 iMac
Processor  2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.2 (13C64)

    Display 1: Built-in iMac Display (1920 x 1200)
    Display 2: ACER 23" Wide Screen AL2223W Display (1680 x 1050)
Since I updated to the latest version of mavericks the other night I have had frequent flickering and blacking out of my screen. It happens mostly when I mouse on or mouse off my dock menu, and open programs on the second monitor. There is also little yellow and organge flickers throughout the screen from time to time almost like an interference patter, generally 1px high and 20px wide with varying degress of static.
I have tried the following with no success:
    - Reset my PRAM / NVRAM
    - Reset my SMC
    - Deleted com.apple display related files
    - Used screenResX to try and find a different Display 2 options
    - Lowered resolution of Display 2
This is extremely frustrating because I am a web designer and programmer, and having my 2nd monitor not functioning basically renders my work station useless for me.

  • No DVI output with T420 on integrated graphics card and Mini Dock Series 3

Because of some application problems I have to set my new T420 to only use the integrated graphics card (disabling the NVidia Optimus feature). In this configuration I seem to be unable to use the DVI port on the Mini Dock Series 3, there is simply no signal and Windows reports that no monitor could be found. The VGA output works but the picture quality is quite bad.
Is this a known design limitation or do I deal with a driver issue?
    Thanks
    Dan

Yes, that works but there is the drawback of battery life. In the course of the day I often undock the laptop to go to meetings and using the discreet graphics card uses a lot more power and significantly reduces the time i can work without power. I would have to restart the laptop and change the setting in the BIOS after I undock, which is just not practical. For what I do I don't need the graphics power of the discreet card.

  • M91p dual monitor graphics card issue

    Hello,
My work recently purchased a Thinkcentre m91p - model number 7052C9U without realizing that it was not dual monitor capable.  We're a small business and have no IT division so it is up to me to solve this problem for myself.
Ive been doing some research via google but have not come to any real conclusion about which graphics card I should get that is compatible and will allow me to use 2 monitors.
Can anyone here direct me in this regard? Im looking for a quality yet inexpensive graphics card, compatible with my model of Thinkcentre, that will allow me to go dual monitor.
    Thank you in advance,
    Brian

I'm confused, it has 2 monitor ports, a VGA port and a DisplayPort.
If you are not using a DisplayPort capable monitor, which many are not, you do need an adapter for that port, ie. DisplayPort to DVI.

  • Dual Monitor HDMI Dock for MBP Retina?

    Hello,
Just purchased a MBP 15 Retina for home and work. At my office I have 2 HDMI Monitors that I would like to continue to use. I know I can do this through the ports on the MBP, My question however is: Does anyone know of a docking station that supports 2 HDMI monitors?

    From the technical reference guide:
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.BINARYPORTLET/public/kb/docDisplay/resource.proc...
you can use both ports, you have to test if a dvi-d to hdmi connection will work.
Sometimes a dvi-d source can't support hdmi -if you have already one monitor, just test it.

  • T430s for dual monitor without dock

    Hi, I have a T430s with HD4000 and core i7 CPU.
Would anyone tell me if it is possible to connect two external monitors one using VGA and another using miniDP->VGA/DVI?
I only have limited desktop space so I do not want to put a dock on it. If it is not possile the I'll purchase a USB3.0 external graphic card to drive these two monitor.
I've searched through those topics seems most are just talking how to setup with dock. Thank you!

Yes you can have both the onboard VGA and MiniDP driving external LCD provided the internal LCD is off.

  • MSI H81M-P33 V2 and i5 4670K (using Intel 4600) support dual monitors?

Pretty straightforward question - can I run two monitors at 1920x1080 off of the H81M-P33 V2 with i5 4670K (Intel 4600 vid)?
    Thanks all

the board has full ties to both outputs and the DVI will use digital signals and the VGA will use the analogue ones so it should work fine using both at the same time as they are separate parts so should work fine!

  • T420s dock - dual monitors?

looking to do dual monitors (laptop lcd not included) with my t420s and was wondering if the dock will give me the ability to do that? thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi, kaitanium
I browsed the Lenovo website and found these docking stations compatible with your system. The Mini Dock and the Mini Dock plus should both allow two video ports to be used simultaneously to create seperate displays. The Mini Dock plus has the capability to show three displays if the hardware in the computer meets the specs. So, yes, two seperate displays is possible with the correct dock.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Can the T61 w/ Adv. Mini Dock do dual-screen laptop screen + external monitor?

I am moving from a desktop to a laptop w/ docking station.
I want to be able to drop the T61 into the dock and go dual-screen with the lappy screen (usually holding outlook open) and say a 19" LCD. Is this possible?
Would the Intel X1300 support a 19" LCD res?
I am most likely going with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, but just in case I changed my mind.. I would like to know.

Yes - all the T61s here using the Advanced Mini-Dock (including mine) and they all support dual-screen.
We use 24" Monitors with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 32 Bit and it looks teriffic.
If you dock and undock a lot I'd recommend using the ThinkVantage Presentation Director to set up your screens.
I think the nVidia is worth it.
