T420 windows 8.1 Manage Bluetooth devices will not turn on

I have a T40 that I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8, and recently to windows 8.1, blue tooth device act flaxy and when I go to "Manage Bluetooth devices".  I have a bluetooth logictech v470 mouse which works most of the time and a bluetooth headset Hype (HY-91)
I have 2 issues:
1. can not turn on the slider to turn bluetooth on easily. - I finally get it turned on after awhile by double clicking, waiting, or just luck, not sure why it just does not just go on.
2. I have trouble with my Bluetooth headset device the second time I connect no matter what I do unless I reboot or re-pair the headset it will work.
I thought it could it be related to two bluetooth devices, but I powered down the mouse. I thought skype was causing an issue, but I quit it and made sure it was not running in the background.
I did find if I turned off the internal speakers and internal mic only then the headset works properly.
Any ideas?

Well my problem is now solved, both devices are bricked, Apple Store replaced both devices today, After talking with my daughter had the iPad mini was charging and it updated iOS8.1.3 and then bricked, tried all the things you suggested with both devices.  Yes, I agree about not letting my devices die, this was the first time my phone had died in 5 months but I firmly believe iOS 8.1.3 was the cause of both devices demise.  Apple checked both devices and promptly replaced both in about 30 minutes.  I hope this is not the way Apple is planning on continuing with software updates.  I have 10 apple devices and have been a strong supporter of their company, but these kind of half done updates are the reason I removed all Microsoft products from our household 7 years ago!

Leave it alone for an hour and try the reset procedure again. Make sure you're using a genuine Apple charger & cable in a known good wall outlet. You can also try another cable if necessary, and make sure the charging area is clean and free of fluff & debris.

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. • Bluetooth device will not pair

I just bought a jambox from jawbone. No issues ocnnectig to mac, ipad, but it will not connect to my Hp laptop.
I tried the usual fixes, looking for drivers, adjusting the settings on device manager, making sure the drivers were up to date for the broadcomm adaptor, doing a hard reboot for the device, etc. I even called jawbone.
Seems it is a hardware issue  - but when i go to HP and try and 'scan my system' for latest drivers, the button does not wrk.
any suggestions for where to go now?

  • HT3887 My bluetooth devices will not wake my iMac from sleep mode.

My iMac will not awake using the bluetooth keyboard or mouse.  I can use a USB mouse but bluetooth and network connection will not respond.  I must restart the machine.  This happens after several hours of being in sleep mode like all day when at work or over night.  I have the system set to wake the computer with a keyboard or mouse click.  THis works only when in sleep mode for an hour or two.

  • I've been trying to install itunes on windows 7 but apple mobile device will not install

I've finally managed to narrow the problem down to the following file:
    C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$DIa0.119\AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi: The archive is corrupt
this is the file delivered with itunes and it's definitely causing the problem because when I try to install one I downloaded from
    http://www.javakrypt.com/itunes/
it installed ok, however when I try to run itunes the amd driver is installed the ipod connects but itunes has a version issue with the AMD driver and asks for a reinstallation of itunes.
My question to apple is where can I download an incorrupted AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi file for the latest release of itunes, and can you pleas everify that the version you are deploying with the current version is not corrupted.(The first file I see when I extract the MSI file has a random character file name with no modified date and a size of 16640. WInrar refuses to extract any files from the msi file.
I believe many people are having this problem and if they can get this file it may their problem as well.

OK I've fixed the problem and my thanks go to redmars.com.au (link below plus copy of solution)
    http://www.redmars.com.au/blog/itsupport/327
To summarise what I did I
    0. the pnputil -e uninstallation didn't work for me so
    1. modified the permissions on the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\netaapl64.inf_amd64_neutral_hexidecidforyourcomputer folder so that I could access it
    2. I deleted the files in this folder
    3. Retried the install from command line with log file enabled but it still rolled back, but in the log file I noted it wasn't finding the netaapI64 files and when I checked the above folder these files were missing.
    4. I tried copying the files from the msi file using winrar but this failed passing a file corrupted error message and files copied had a zero byte size (i.e. empty)
    5. I copied the files from a friends folder who didn't have this problem files are (netaapI64.cat, netaapI64.inf, netaapI64.PNF, netaapI64.sys and wdfcoinstaller01009.dll)
    6. retried the install from the command line and it worked. Started itunes connected itouch, it installed the drivers and the itouch appeared in itunes.
I can now access my ipod from itunes.
The only problem now you face now is how to get the uncorrupted files detailed above. Does anyone have a solution to this? Winrar states files are corrupted. but they obviously aren't otherwis ethe installation wouldn't work.
text for solution here follows :
I recently came across a problem on a Windows 7 64bit laptop where Apple's iTunes was failing to recognise a connected iPhone. It was giving a error that the wrong version of iTunes was installed and I should install the 64bit version of iTunes. As I had no idea how what had been performed up until this point I performed a full uninstall of iTunes. I then downloaded the latest version of iTunes 10.5.1 and ran through the installer. At one point during the install I noticed the install gave the message 'Rolling back action' and thought to myself this cannot be good.
At the end iTunes indicated it had a problem installing and I should try again. The weird thing is if you didn't pay attention to the message you could quite easily click on ok and iTunes will work except it'll fail to recognise any iPod, iPhone or iPad device. To help identify what actually failed to install I checked the windows services management console and found the Apple Mobile Device Service was missing. This makes sense because it's that service which communicates with the iPhone. The question is why was the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) failing to install?
To find out I needed to capture a log file of the install process. A bit of research helped me identify that the iTunes64Setup.exe contained 5 separate windows installer files:
    AppleApplicationSupport.msi
    AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi
    AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
    Bonjour64.msi
    iTunes64.msi
I needed to extract AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi from iTunes64Setup.exe so I could generate a install log. The solution is to install WinRAR which you can download here http://rarlab.com/download.htm. After extracting AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi to c:\temp (you can use any folder you like here) I opened a command prompt and issued these commands:
    cd c:\temp
    msiexec -i AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi -log AMDS.log
This will attempt to install the AMDS and generate an installation log c:\temp\AMDS.log. Looking through the log I found the install failed because the format of C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\netaapl64.inf_amd64_neutral_dc2c bd989eec1514\netaapl64.inf was invalid. I opened the file in question and found it to be completely blank. I coulnd't just delete the files in question because they are protected by the Windows operating system, and anyway the correct method to remove a driver package from the driver store is to use the pnputil.exe tool. However if the driver package didn't complete installation in the first place then it may not work, but it was always worth a try.
To use pnputil I needed to run a command prompt as an administrator. I Clicked Start, All Programs, and Accessories, then right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator. From the command prompt type I typed in pnputil.exe -e. This produced a list of installed driver packages. Looking through the list I was looking for something like this:
Published name :            oem30.inf  Driver package provider :   Apple  Class :                     Network adapters  Driver date and version :   07/12/2011 1.8.4.2  Signer name :               Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
This is the Apple network adapter driver. The important information here is the Published name oem30.inf. To uninstall the driver use the command pnputil -d oem30.inf (replace oem30.inf with the correct published name for your PC). After this try and the install again: msiexec -i AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi -log AMDS.log. If this fails or as in my case the driver package doesn't show in the list of installed drivers you'll need to take more drastic (and potentially dangerous to your PC's health!) measures.
By default the files in the driver repository are read only and can only be modified by the Windows Operating System, and this is for a good reason. I needed to change the permissions on the driver package so I could delete the corrupt files. Caution proceed at your own risk, make a mistake here and your computer may stop working and a system restore or rebuild may be required.
The first thing I needed to do was to take ownership of the folder so I could change the permissions. From windows explorer I clicked on Folder and search options under the organize button. Next I clicked the view tab and clicked on Show hidden files, folders, and drives. By unticking hide extensions for known file types and unticking Hide protected operating system files I was able to view the files I needed to remove. From the windows explorer window I browsed to browse to C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\, which was now visible and right clicked the netaapl64.inf_amd64_neutral_dc2cbd989eec1514 folder and selected properties. I clicked the security tab and then the Advanced button. Under Advanced I clicked the Owner tab and then clicked the Edit button. From the change owner to: box I selected my username, and then ticked Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and clicked OK to set the changes.
Next I gave myself Full Control to the folder and files. Back on the Security tab I clicked the Edit button, and with Everyone highlighted in the Groups or user names I ticked full control in the Allow column. I clicked OK and accepted the warning message Windows presents about security and access problems. At this point I could delete the contents of the netaapl64.inf_amd64_neutral_dc2cbd989eec1514 folder.
I tried re-installing the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) using msiexec -i AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi -log AMDS.log command and I no longer got the Rolling back action error. All that I had left to do now was install iTunes again and the iPhone was now recognized when I connected it to the PC.

  • My 5th Gen iPod touch does not keep time and the bluetooth will not turn on. Full restore did not fix.

Recently my 5th generation iPod Touch stopped keeping time. As long as the screen stays on, it will stay accurate, but once it "sleeps" the time reverts to the last accurate time it had. If I go to Settings>General>Date&Time> and turn Set Automatically off and on, it will catch up, but just for as long as the screen stays on. Not too friendly for battery life that way. Also, maybe unrelated, the Bluetooth function will not turn on. When I try to turn it on, I just get a constant spinning wheel.
I have tried everything from a simple restart to a full device wipe back to factory default. No change. I took it in to the Genius bar this afternoon. They tried a diagnostic and another wipe. Then they said they didn't know and I could pay $150 to replace it. Not a bad deal, but not what I wanted to hear.
    Any ideas?

I have a Bose Soundlink III and have had no problems connecting to my Iphone until the past three or four days. It will not connect and the blue Bluetooth button will not turn white. I have done everything it says to do in troubleshooting the Soundlink and it does exactly what it is suppose to do, except light changing and connecting. My phone shows Bose SLIII and it says it is discoverable. If I touch the the Bose SLIII area it keeps saying Connection Unavailable and to check that it is turned on and in range. Any suggestions??

  • Blackberry will not turn on battery with lightening bolt

i have a new blackberry curve 8900 i have charged it for 1 hour it still displays the battery and the device will not turn on please help

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

I looked at the same sight for that and it does not say that.  This is the first time I have posted a question, you don't have to be mean about it.  I am trying to get this to work for a good cause.
It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

    Hello,
I'm facing a problem that occurs when try to connect Bluetooth device on Satellite A135-S4637 with Windows Vista Home Premium.
The Bluetooth device is a TrendNet TBW-102UB, and at XP it's working just fine.
The error message is "Bluetooth device is not ready".
After install new updates from manufacturer's website the problem still occurs.
Is there any service pack from Vista that fix that kind of problem or it is something relational to Toshiba's Bluetooth software?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hello
Please do not be mad on me but I do not understand relations to Toshiba notebook. Are you 100% sure that all USB ports on your notebook work properly?
If yes the whole thing has something to do with this external device, driver and settings. To be honest the manufacturer must offer Vista compatible software. Do you think so?

Nope, GPS is a Federal requirement for anything operating a cellular telephone signal.  You don't ever plan to call 911 until you are in an emergency.  I don't see that requirement changing any time soon.
If you are truly inconvenienced by the VZW network extender then perhaps you should disable you calling features in these areas and swap over to WiFi only.  There are many services and apps out there that can route your phone services through internet service providers.

  • Device will not join in Profile Manager

Forgive me, as I could be being very silly. But really would appreciate some help here.
I am attempting after installing Mavericks Server to join a device (iMac intel, running OSX Mavericks) via profile manager.
Everytime I go to myserver/mydevices on the iMac I install the trust profile and then I click the blue Enroll button. However, this is where the issue arises. The device will only appear in Profile Manager as a Placeholder - it will pick up the name of the iMac and it's serial number, but it will only be a placeholder not a fully managed device (I do not get the options in myserver/mydevices to wipe or lock etc. and the device will not appear in there). I am logging into the local admin account of the iMac - and have also tried it as a network account. STILL don't work.
Could anyone shed some light on what the issue could be here?
The host machine will join fine (I did this as a test).
Thanks in anticipation! This is a niggly issue which is driving me MAD!

    Hello,
I know how it feels, this piece of crap was driving me MAD too.
I had the same problem then you, the only way I found is to reinstall a clean copy of Mavericks with server.app and restart the whole thing.  For an unknown reason, i can now enroll my devices and manage them.
Good luck and have a nice day, and dont get crazy with this ****, it isnt worth it.
