T420i cannot recognize a guitar

Hello.
I bought a Lenovo T420i recently and I'd like to play and record electric guitar through the laptop using Guitar Rig 5.
The problem is that the laptop has an integrated single input-output 3,5 mm jack. Whenever I plug the guitar straight into the computer using an adaptor to  make the cable fit, the laptop cannot recognize my guitar. Even if it would, I couldn't use my external speakers anyway as there's only one female jack.
So I bought a splitter. At first I used a simple one that made me two females, but this worked only for the speakers, guitar was not recognized again. Now I have a splitter, that makes me one specific speaker jack and a specific microphone jack. The speakers work just fine, but the guitar is not recognized again if I connect the cables correctly. However, if I don't press the guitar cable all the way into the microphone jack, then the guitar is recognized, but as a result of a loose connection, the sound is really bad and there is very much unwanted noise.
Any ideas how to fix this? Do I really have to buy an external USB sound card or is there a cheaper way?

A bug for this issue was recently filed (Bug 1580428: java.lang.ArrayOutOfBoundsException: 0 when publishing objects with static functions without arguments). This bug is fixed in the next (9i) release of JPublisher, and the test you are providing actually works fine there.
There is no workaround at this point, other than either
(a) add a dummy argument to static non-arg methods, or
(b) do not generate any method wrappers at all by specifying the -methods=false setting.
(Considering that these methods are executed by converting the Java instance to a SQL value, sending that to the server, calling the method on the value there, yielding a new SQL value, returning that value to the client, and finally converting that back to a Java object, I am not so sure why anyone actually would want to invoke SQL object methods. As for static methods in general: it should be easy to write some SQLJ code (and slighly less easy in JDBC :) to call it and return the result.)

  • Windows cannot recognize iPOD mini

I just bought a new iPOD mini (pink 4Gb), but when I conected the iPOD to my laptop and other desktop, the computer always shows 'cannot recognize the usb device, the divice might be malfunction', so iPOD shown as unknown device in my usb controller, when double click that, shows no driver suitable. I tryied all methods I can find from the website and none can resolve the problem, then I request repair service twice, but still didn't resolve the problem. When conected to computer, baterry shows charging normally, it seems the cable is right, and my computer meet all reqiures. Is anybody meet such questions? Could anyone give me kind help?

Yes, I tried 5Rs, different USBs, different computers, all doesn't work. I saw from one article about the format, then I check mine find the last item in 'setting-about' is 'model', not 'format: windows', so I thought might be because this, I download MacDrive, xPlay, they still doesn't work, then I tried MAC computer, after connected, it didn't show on the desktop, but I check the repair service results, all says found no problem.

  • "USB Device not recognized" -- Computer cannot recognize ipod.

My computer (HP laptop) just, out of nowhere, stoped recognizing my ipod.
The message that comes up is "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows cannot recognize it." It comes up as an "Unknown device" instead of a USB Mass Starage Device or an ipod.
The only reason this problem may have occored is because my friend borrowed it and tried to hook it up to her computer, which is Windows Vista. (Mine is Windows XP) I did not know she was going to hook it up to her computer, so I'm not sure what could have happened. Is there any like between hooking an ipod up to Windows Vista and then trying to hook it up to Windows XP?
I've seen that a lot of other people have had this problem too, but I haven't found any solutions yet. I've tried everything in suport--The 5 R's, Changing to disk mode, chicking my USB drives, ect. I realy would rather not take it to an ipod store, because it costs money.
    Any solutions?

I would be interested in any responses to this problem. We have 2 1st generation nanos and last week both of them stopped being recognized by our computer. We also have 2 2nd generation nanos and a 3rd generation nano. The 2nd and 3rd generation nanos are working fine but both of the 1st generation are having the same issue as RachelRocketship's. We have tried the same solutions that she has with no luck.

  • Cannot recognize any internal hard drives, hard drives good

    Hi,
My macbook pro 13" (bought in august 09) recently stopped being able to recognize its internal drive. I've run it through all sorts of diagnostic software, but none has been able to recognize it at all.
I've tried swapping out the hard drive to one that is brand new, but it still cannot recognize it. Everything is physically connected as it should be, and I'm running out of ideas for what to try.
I do not have easy access to an apple store to bring it in. If it is the only option, I could try to get it to one. Does anybody have any suggestions? Does this seem like a hardware problem that would need to be repaired?
    Thank you,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
It sounds like you have done a good job of troubleshooting. At this point we know you have a hardware issue. Fortunately you are still under the MacBook's hardware warranty, so Apple should repair it without cost to you.
Apple's retail stores are not the only source for service. Two other options available to you are 1) [Apple authorized service providers|http://solutionprofessionals.apple.com/aasp> and 2) call Apple (800-275-2273 in the USA) and set up mail in service.

  • I have photoshop CS4 with the newest update. I'm a photographer and just purchased the new canon 7d mk II. Today, I shot some photos on raw but am unable to pull them up in photoshop. A window pops up saying "photoshop cannot recognize this type of file.

I have photoshop CS4 with the newest update. I'm a photographer and just purchased the new canon 7d mk II. Today, I shot some photos on raw but am unable to pull them up in photoshop. A window pops up saying "photoshop cannot recognize this type of file. The thumbnails are white with a blue and white CR2 on them. Please help.

Adobe Camera Raw 5.7 is the latest for Photoshop CS4 Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows
The problem is that your new camera is supported by ACR 8.7 and only Photoshop CS6 and up supports this version.
So if you do not want to buy CS6 or subscribe to the $10/month Photography Program, you have to convert the CR2 files to DNG to work on them. Your original CR2s are untouched in the process, you just can't directly edit them in CS4, only the DNGs.
Maybe Canon offers editing software for their CR2s, but CS4 is not going to be updated and there is no way around that.
It's not what you want to hear, but that's the situation so far.
Maybe Elements or Lightroom has updated raw support for your camera, so I encourage you to visit those forums and ask.

  • ITunes cannot recognize this iPod at this time....

My Shuffle 2G lost power yesterday and when I connected it to my Mac mini to recharge, the light flashed a few times before getting the error prompt "iTunes cannot recognize this iPod at this time." The prompt instructs the use of the reset utility, which I ran repeatedly to no avail. I've tried all the rebooting, restarting iTunes, switching USB ports, etc. with the same error message each time.
The power indicator is no longer responding at all following the first time that I connected it yesterday. Is my Shuffle completely fried? I've only had it a year and it was hardly ever used during that duration. Help!

The exact same thing just happened to my 2nd Gen shuffle. It stopped playing due to low battery charge, then when i tried to connect it ti iTunes, it said it 'could not recognize iPod at this time" and to use the reset utikity. I have now ran the reset utility a few times....but there is no change.
I would really appreciate some help in solving this issue.......

  • Could not complete your request because Photoshop Elements cannot recognize the file extension. (-25600)

im trying to add a water mark to multiple photos but I keep getting  Could not complete your request because Photoshop Elements cannot recognize the file extension. (-25600) error. how do I fix this?

If you open up editor then expert mode then you click file and the it's manage multiple or something like that. It will pull up a box asking you where you would like to get the photos from. I picked a folder where I just edited the skin tone and then saved it. I'm thinking it has something to do with the way the files save but I'm not sure how to get it to change. But after the box comes up you can add a water mark to all the photos in the folder. I found the video of how to do it on here.

  • Cannot recognize Canon 40D RAW file

My Photoshop CS3 Extended cannot recognize the raw files generated in my Canon 40D, however this camera is on the list of recognized cameras. This camera generates files with extension .cr2. I downloaded the updates to photoshop CS3 and the DNG Converter 4.3.1, but still no luck. I am working on a Mac, if that makes any difference. Any suggestions on what else I can try?
    Thanks.

    >I downloaded the updates to photoshop CS3
Did you also download, decompress and correctly install the ACR 4.3.1 plug-in, replacing the old one in the same location? Are you sure you downloaded and install the Mac version of said plug-in and not the Windoze version?
When you go to the Photoshop menu > About Plug-in , does ACR 4.3.1 show up there and only once?
Did you purge the Cache for each folder through the Tools menu in Bridge after that?
All of that has to be done precisely according to the very detailed instructions.

  • LR 1.4 cannot recognize Pana LX-3 raw files

I'm running LR 1.4 and am trying to import raw files from my new Panasonic LX-3. LR does not recognize the file type - tells me there's nothing to upload. I've downloaded DNG converter 5.4 with the hopes that that would do the trick. Either LR is not communicating with the DNG converter or, well, I don;t know what.
Can anyone tell me how to import LX-3 raw files into LR 1.4? I'd rather not spend the money to upgrade to LR 2,4
    Thanks --

If the DNGC 5.4 is able to process the LX-3 files then before you perform
the conversion, try setting the DNG-compatiblity-version (or whatever it is
called) to something lower than it is, now...at least a couple versions
    older.
If the DNGC 5.4 cannot recognize the LX-3 files then try the DNGC 5.5
release-candidate (beta) available on Adobe Labs (labs.adobe.com)...and also
set the DNG-compatibility-version to something at least a couple less than
    the current version.

  • Windows 7 PC cannot recognize shared printer on iMac

My son's Windows 7 PC cannot recognize the Samsung shared printer on my iMac.  Does anyone know how to rectify this?  Printer sharing is turned on and my wife's iMac can connect and print on it just fine.  This printer is not a networkable printer (I think) but it seems to share through my iMac fine with other Apple computers.

    Might try Bonjour for Windows...

  • Photoshop cannot recognize the file extension

I'm trying to batch convert BMP files to JPG. One file works fine, as I build the Action. But when I run the batch, I get the error:
    File: "/Users/bryan/7D FTP/Streak in 7D/Pyracantha 2/Strips - 2 wide/"
Error: Could not complete your request because Photoshop cannot recognize the file extension. (-25600)
I see that the file in question is a directory, not a file, but everything was set up correctly to override "open" commands etc.
    Any ideas?

The file names are an image sequence, Strip0002.bmp, Strip0002.bmp, etc.
But the file name never appears in the error message, only the path.
I tried moving the folders to the desktop in case the filename and path was too long, but it had no effect. The Batch Action always does the first file without error and fails on the second, as if it has remembered the output type JPG and is then confused by the input type BMP.
