T420s case resonates with the fan

My T420s is three weeks old, and has a rather annoying mechanical resonance in concert with the fan rotation speed. With fan running in normal-high rpm, under an average desktop load, the resonance can be felt on the keyboard, case, etc. And of course it can be heard too, having a characteristic purring sound. Does anyone else have this same problem? I have two memory modules in the computer, could this have anything to do with it?

I also had a similar problem over two weeks ago. The fan devloped a noise similar to DVD drive spinning up as the speed increased. There was also vibration on the bottom of the case where the fan was located.
I called Lenovo support and after put the phone near the fan, the support tech agreed there was a problem and offered to send someone to replace either the fan or the foam the next day. However, I choose to delay the repair for a week as I was going on a trip. The noise did die down to almost normal level after few days and the vibration is gone, so I end up cancelling the repair.
Just give them a call, I’m sure they will help you out.
P.S. Unless the memory sticks are loss (unlikely if the laptop is working), than I don’t think that is the source.

  • My new macbook air 10.7.3 is running hot with the fan blowing just by using the internet. Is there something wrong with the computer?

My new macbook air is 10.7.3 s running hot, with the fan blowing after about one hour on the internet. It will also run very hot with the fan blowing when it is closed and in sleep mode, is this normal? My macbook pro did not do this.

My Macbook Pro 15" Early 2008 model had been running hot for a long time.
    Checked Activity Monitor.  (Applications/Utilities)
AdobeResourceSynchronizer was taking 83% of CPU usage.
Did a google search and found information regarding AdobeResourceSynchronizer causing high CPU usage and heat.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/822790
Problem seems to be Adobe Resource Synchronizer.app
To disable go to: System Preferences > Accounts
Click the Padlock icon, enter password if needed, click Login Items,
    uncheck AdobeResourceSynchronizer
I don't know how this got install on this computer.
I suspect Adobe Reader. AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app is within the Adobe Reader application package.
Control Click (or right click) the Adobe Reader app, click Show Package Contents
    Location: Applications/Adobe Reader.app/Contents/Support/AdobeResourceSynchronizer.app
Some other Adobe applications may also cause this to run.
After disabling this in System Preferences > Accounts, temperature seems to be acceptable.
Also start Adobe Reader X, go to Preferences, Tracker and in the "Automatically Check for New Comments and Form Data", slide the top slider all the way to the right so is says Never.
After having done all this and restarted the computer, check Activity Monitor again and see if
AdobeResourceSynchronizer is still running. If it is you can click on it so it is highlighted and click the Quit button in the upper left.
This solved my excess heat problem.

Would this iPad 2 case work with the new iPad, or any other similar cases that do?

    Thanks for the help.

If it's made of rigid material (which I think is the case), then, most probably it won't. I certainly wouldn't pay 30 pounds for it just to find out it doesn't work.
As sagarpachorkar has stated, iPad 2 cases made of non-rigid materials, generally, have a much better chance of fitting the iPad 3 too.

  • Will iphone cases work with the touch

when looking for a case, can you use an iphone case?
or do you have to buy specific touch cases?

1G Touch cases also won't work with the 2G Touch that was just released. The case is a slightly different shape and there's a volume control on the side that would be covered by a 1G case.
The way power is supplied to the Touch through the dock connector changed as well.
    Cheers,
    Andreas

  • What case works with the dock

Hey, I'm looknig for a case that will work with the dock. Are there any out there? I really like using the dock to sync my phone and I'm not happy loosing that feature in order to use a case.
I'm already aware that the iSee case will not work with the dock http://www.contourcase.com/isee/iseeiphone/ . What about the other cases out there?

This looks like it might do the trick:

  • Why does my Mac air make a lot of noise with the fan inside?

I bought Mac air one year ago. at the beginning, I satisfied with the product. However, 8 months later, the laptop made a lot of noise from the fan inside. When I I run about 4 or 5 solfwares, it starts warmer and make noise. I feel so unhappy with this. How can I fix it. I bought AppleCare programme for 3 years as well
    Thanks

The mid 2011 MacBook Air fans are pretty quiet but not silent and since they are the only mechanical decice you'll hear - there's no hard drive or DVD drive to make noise - it is possible that what you hear is normal. On the other hand, fans can go bad - bearings fail and dust an make the blades become unbalanced. None of us can help - you'll need to take the computer to a repair center or Apple Store and let an Apple repair person determine if the fans need replacing or not. If so, your warranty will cover the cost.

  • Does the evo3 case work with the iTrip?

Does the evo3 case (http://www.iskin.com/eVo3gallery/features.html) work with the iTrip. I would like to know this before I buy a $35 case.

are you talking about the itrip that connects to the dock at the bottom of the ipod? if so i have an evo3, and it does work, only the itrip falls out from the slightest knock, although you can try putting an elastic band around it to keep it in , the evo3 case is very good though.
    hope that helped

  • T43 issue with the fan

in the last day or so i have noticed the fan in my T43 is making a different sound to usual it's like a whirring grating sound
will it cause any problems in usage of the laptop
i tried blowing the fan it didn't help i opened up the case and tried looking at the fan it seemed ok from what i saw. the T43 works fine and is left on for most of the day will it cause any problems, i always keep it clean and well ventilated

you may need to replace the fan, but first try and pump a little bit of WD40 into the fan's axial to lubricate it.

  • Can iphone cases work with the itouch

    topic:)

I'm using a Griffin Elan 'leather' slip cover for iPhone, and it works perfectly on my Touch. I insert my Touch top end first (since the headphone jack is on the bottom) so I can have the earbuds stay connected when I carry it around in the case.
(I don't use the Batman belt clip that comes with the case)

  • Tecra R840-16J - reboot with the fan at full power and no activity

    Hi,
Has anyone found this behavior too?
After rebooting (this happened a couple of times...with the hdd and today with the ssd so it should not be their fault) the windows or toshiba screen do not appears only a black screen, no disc activity and the fan works like crazy!!! I stop this after 1-2 minutes because nothing happen!
    Cheers,
    paulo

Hi, yestarday I restarted the computer, I would say 10-12 times...and this event appeared again one time, apparentelly with no reason! After 3 min, the fan was at full with no disc activity! Turn off the laptop and turn it on put everything to normal!!!!
I know that my R840 have a fan test (cooling test or something like that....I'm at work now), is it possible that test runs automatically for any reason?
But maybe, as you say, I should check the Bios! But what is strange to me is that this only happens from time to time!
    Cherrs,

Also, if you are worried about warranty after a year, you can still buy AppleCare before your unit is a year old. You can find AppleCare plans on eBay for about 1/2 off retail.

  • Is the iphone 3 case compatible with the ipod touch 4

i used to have an iphone 3, but it broke, ive got a new phone since, and thinkin of gettin the new ipod touch, and i wondered if the case from my old iphone would fit the new ipod touch??

I am pretty sure the case dimension are different. You can check using the case dimension for the various iDevices in the following. A quick look shows to me that the iPod will be a little loose in the iPhone case.
