T420s HDD+SSD Possible via Express/Smart Card?

Hello Lenovo community. I have recently ordered my new T420s with 2GB ram and the stock 250GB 5400rpm Hard drive. I intend to upgrade both to 8gb ram and 320+ gb of hard disk space. I want the space of a hard drive and the speed of a ssd (dont we all) and would rather not pay up for an intel 160gb or other.
My question is: Are there any compatible SSD solutions currently on the market that would fit into the T420s' ExpressCard and Smart Card ports? Are these ports bootable?

To answer your question, the Intel 310.
It's 40 GB for 100 dollars, or 80 GB for $190.
That's the only one that's widely available, and it's the only one guaranteed to work with the T420s since this is what Lenovo sells anyways.
Nothing else is easily accessible as far as mSATA SSD's go, but in the coming months there should be some competition arriving from SuperTalent and Samsung, as well as a couple others (I've seen mention of a different Asian company that makes mSATA SSD's with SandForce controllers, which get 200 read 100 write- a bit better than this Intel but not by much).
But yeah- that SATA-to-Ultrabay adapter is the way to go for extra hard drive space if you get a different SSD.
Just be advised that the only game in town for an aftermarket SSD in the main bay is the Intel 320 (it's the only 7mm SSD I've seen, and its write speeds (read speeds are about equal) are pathetic compared to even first-generation SandForce drives, not to mention the Vertex 3 and Intel's own 510, which unfortunately is 9.5mm).
So I think the Intel 310 and a 500 GB 7200 RPM 7mm hard drive is your best bet (I think Hitachi makes them).

To set the drive to spin down: control panel -> (power options) change when the computer sleeps -> advanced settings -> hard disk -> turn off disk after...
I can't address average lifespan myself. Google and the other members here can help with that. I tend to go by the manufacturers warranty and figure if it fails after that it doesn't owe me anything. I rather expect them to last well beyond the warranty in my use case. Yes, they're expensive but the price is coming down and the performance bump is well worth it IMNSHO.
I've used both Rescue and Recovery and Acronis. Acronis tends to be more flexible and faster, R&R makes a more compressed image. Lately I usually use Acronis. One advantage is that I can keep a bootable version on my HDD and on my USB "Swiss Army" flash drive that has a bunch of tools on it. I don't think this is possible with R&R (could be wrong...). It has to be installed on the primary drive - which has to still be operational to some degree - to be able to boot it.

Is it possible that iMac corrupts connected external hdd-s drive via USB? (two wd cav. green 2tb from different purchase went down in one day, both from the backside usb ports)
First one of my video storage hdd, full of files suddenly got extremely slow, and a few minutes later, it unmounted itself, but with the unmount error, but nobody even touched the cables, electricity etc. When I tried to mount it again, it did not respond, just give a periodical load light and ticking. First I thought it must be hardware failure, but since I bought a brand new drive today and it made the same problem as soon as I tried to format it. I got suspicious. The consol, said about these - i googled all but now solution so far. (WesternFresh is my drive)

and there was an I/O faliure not but it was on another mac - where i hoped itt will come back to live.
I think - if it is possible - that the OS maybe misunderstand something about these drives, and try to change - maybe permissions - all the time if a usb external connects...? (I am not really into it as you see )
Also about Disk Utility - it does not see any partition on the old hdd, but i shows the name of the product. If I connect the new hdd via the keyboard usb, the disk utility is able to see and format it, but the hdd will be still slow and tikking after it.
Also I tried Disk Warrior (freezd out) and Techtool Pro 6 thanks to some ol'frineds - which also not saw the old hdd, but did nothing useful with the new one.
About cav green: I have 3 of them and no error so far, and got 4 1tb cav green in 2 mybook studio II also without any problem.
Iam a bit scared, and try not to plug in any usb hdd-s now, but I have to continue work, so I need solutions.
I hope if it is not hardware failure, maybe some tricky terminal code will bring back the viability of my old hdd - and I won't have to spend a lot of money to recover data.

I also made the mentioned steps - but it is a bit different sice it reproduce itself and I cant use DU.

It turned out that WD is the big bad guy in this game.
According the data rescue company where I asked for an inspection, both of the drives had their reader head loose. And in the one, which was my already-in-use disk its even damaged the platters... xxxxx
So its time to pay bunch of money to recover, and take a walk to wd service to bang on the desk.
Also note - it may be somehow related to intellispeed technology - since macs not really friendly with wd-s built-in solutions.
On the other hand, with WD GP 1Tb there is no problems at all for ages.

Control Levels via Expression

Is there a way to use a slider to control the various attributes that make up a levels adjustment via expression? I am able to set them via scripting and have done so. However, the stopwatch that lets me create an expression is linked to the histogram as a whole, not its individual components, i.e. input black, input white, gamma, etc. Is this possible or am I barking up the wrong tree here? The goal is to control multiple levels applied to individual clips in one nice, neat location. An adjustment layer will not work for me because of layering. Also, I do not want my background to be effected by the adjustment, just a few of the pieces that make up my foreground objects.

Does Satellite P70-A-129 support the second HDD/SSD

I recently bought this model P70-A-129 from Greece, and i am wondering if it accepts a second HDD / SSD drive.
I opened the underneath cover and there is a second connector but i don't know if it is connected to the Main-board.
Can you assist me by telling me if this model can manage a second drive?

Its easy to test this
You can try to connect the HDD placed in the first HDD bay to the 2nd HDD controller in the 2nd HDD bay. In case the BIOS would recognize the HDD properly, the upgrade should be possible.

Qosmio X770-13E - can I built it second internal HDD/SSD?

Hello from the snowy mountains of Savoy !
My computer is a Qosmio X770-13E.
I am disappointed because it runs very slowly (I have the "windows 7 explorer green bar problem" ...)
I have extended the RAM to 8 Go : no real speed change.
In this computer there is only one hard drive (750 Go, 5400 turns/minute).
The windows hard disk access evaluation is only 5.9 !
There is an empty place near the hard drive, so I wonder if it is possible or not to add a second internal hard drive or even a SSD.
I have searched for this in the user's manual : no answer !
And on the web, I have also found no answer.
Perhaps on this forum ?

Generally speaking it is not easy to discuss about notebook performance. Every of us uses notebook with specific configuration and preinstalled applications that may run in the background and slow down notebooks reaction.
All I can say is that you should check OS configuration and disable some useless applications to start with Windows. Disable also automatic Windows update installation. This can also slow down notebook operations.

Today I set a HDD/SSD password to my Tecra A-11 (updated BIOS) and I am verry happy with that pas,but I cant enter to the BIOS after I enter my HDD/SSD passwor - I press F2,but the screen just go dark for a second or two and the system acts like just being restarted - starting Windows 7 Ultimate.
Please advice what have to be done so I can enter my BIOS again.

If it thinks it has a BIOS or HDD password, there's no way to remove that without servicing. It sounds like it likely got damaged in the drop.

Some drawbacks, you can't boot from any OS (OS X or Windows) installer disk from a external optical drive the Superdrive goes into when you install the kit.

Of note though, this will take a relatively well performing network to achieve this, I have such a network, if your network is not as good as it might be, you might encounter problems.
For the avoidance of doubt, I used the remote app on my phone to get my iTunes library on my computer to stream music to 3 of my Apple TVs, I then used the remote app to control another Apple TV and get it to stream a music video from my computer to it. Of interest I managed to do this while my wife was using yet another Apple TV (not with the remote app) to watch something else from iTunes on my computer.

I have a scenario. Am not sure if this is possible via SQL or not.
For Example Consider two tables
T1
product_id location_id stock
A 1 100
T2
product_id location_id aging_phase received_qty
A 1 1 20
A 1 2 30
A 1 3 70
Now in T1 there is actual stock that is 100, while aging wise if i see stock that is 20+30+70=120
What i want is, generate a SQL that should yield quantity equals stock in T1 but with AGING PHASE wise break up
Result should be like this :
product_id location_id aging_phase qty
A 1 1 20
A 1 2 30
A 1 3 50
It would be a great help if somehow it becomes possible. Anyone have some solution ?

I want to make a expression related to time duration of "MainComp".
To the "MainComp" follow time duration of other Composition.

Mylenium is right, you can't act on compositions with expressions.
However, there are some workarounds.
_you can precompose your comp and put an expression on it's timeRemap.
_another solution is to add an adjustment layer on the top of your comp. On this adjustment layer, you can add a "time" effect (time distort for example) and link its timecode value via expression.
First solution is the simplest and gives the best results, the second is only if you absolutly can't precompose.

This functionality is not available as standard. However, from release 470, you can use customer exit EXIT_SAPLMRMH_015 for direct posting to the G/L account or material account.

Hi I need to make changes in the approver levels, for 3 levels in the Class Enrollment process SSHR.
I guess that should be possible via AME.
Now my doubt is this.
On the Final Level of Approval in the 3rd level after the approval is done, i would need to send a FYI Notification to 2 more guys. This would be a post approval thing.
Would that be possible via AME or do i need to modify the WF?

Yes, it is possible to have two different vertical scales on an xy graph. There is no way that I know of to add a scale programmatically, but once you have added it, you can configure the range of it programmatically, as well as assigning a plot to any particular scale. You do this by using an xy-graph property node, with the properties YScale.Minimum, YScale.Minimum, and Plot.YScaleIndex respectively.
