T420s Purchase: Lenovo direct vs. Reseller

I am looking for the best deal on a t420s with i5 2.5, 4GB, 320GB 7200, camera, Bluetooth, integrated graphics, & Win 7 Pro. According to the Lenovo site there is currently a 4+ week wait on the 7200rpm drive. Even if I was willing to wait the Lenovo Shareholder price for this system is over $1300 + CA sales tax.
Circuit City, through Amazon, and a few Ebay resellers have this configuration ready to ship w/o tax for a hair under $1K.
If I can confirm that these machines are not refurbs and the build dates are recent, is there any downside to ordering from someone other Lenovo?

Send Purchase order directly to supplier website

Hello,
I'm in process to setup "Send Approved Purchase order directly to supplier website". I did set-up for Trading Partner Definition in XML Gate-Way. Now when i approved PO it should go automatically to supplier website but getting two issue..
1. Getting Delivery Status :- Error and Delivery Message "Failure Connecting To Proxy' :- I have already checked this with our supplier ,their server is up and user-id and password is also correct..
2. My delivery status is updated after 5 hrs, so wondering why it is taking this much time. Do i need to make some changed to get prompt delivery updated...
Can anyone point me on something?

Please check incase there is any time out while connecting to Supplier server.
Delivery status normally takes times but ideally it should not take 5 hours.. Would you mind to try it in a different server of supplier (Let it be a sandbox instance of supplier).

Shopping cart Converted to Purchase order directly.

Hello Experts,
 I have a question on what settings to check if the shopping cart created in a system is creating Purchase order directly as Follow-on document. The scenario we are using is SRM 5.0 (Standalone) for Strategic procurement. I checked the BBP_DOC_SAVE, BBP_DOC_CHANGE BADI's but there is no such coding there....any settings in SPRO that is enabling this thing to happen ???
Please let me know about it ASAP. Would definitely reward for useful answers.

Couple of reasons can be possible for this ->
1) Workflow is not getting triggered properly. Check workflow configuartion. Are you using standard or customer workflow ?
Seems to me there are no Approvers determined for the particular Product category and Purchase Group combinations, which in turn determines the Approvers (Managers) in this case.
2) Incase the shopping cart dat is complete, and the SRM SPRO system settings are defined to create a Purchase order. Then directly R/3 PO gets created.
3) Check out for all the customer BADI Implementations in SE19 (starting with either Y or Z). Which all are active in this case ? What all code they have ?
4) check out for BADIs especially - BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK
 BBP_CREATE_PO_BACK_NEW
 BBP_TARGET_OBJECTS
 BBP_TARGET_OBJTYPE
5) Check SPRO Settings ->

The backend system is determined using the product category in the requirement coverage request item. The item also contains the organizatinal unit.
You can use the Business Add-In BBP_TARGET_OBJTYPE if you wish to implement a different logic for creating documents in the backend system.
Example
If purchasing group 01 wants to procure materials from the category Raw Materials, a reservation is to be created every time.
If materials in the category PC are to be procured, a purchase requisition is to be created every time.
Activities
1. Enter the organizational unit and/or the category.
2. Enter a source system.
3. Choose the procurement type.
Reservation if stock is available, otherwise external procurement
The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management and sufficient stock quantity is available in the warehouse on the requested date.
Always reservation for materials subject to inventory management
The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management, irrespective of whether stock is available.
Always external procurement
The system does not create a reservation, but always procures the item externally. In this case, you specify the type of external procurement.
The following options are significant if the system cannot create a reservation (for example, if there is no stock available or for a non-stock item) or the system must not create a reservation (choose Always external procurement).
Purchase order if item data complete, otherwise purchase requisition
The system always tries to create a purchase order. If the item data is incomplete (for example, the vendor or price is not known), the system creates a purchase requisition from the item.

The system always creates a local purchase order.

Create Purchase requisitions directly using PS network or indirectly ME51N

Hello SAP-PS consultants,
My customer manage big projects that most of the work done by suppliers, contractors and consultants. We use WBS element to define phases in project and for link to budget control in FM (every phase as different budget). We also use activities network to manage the work in the phases. I offer my customer to create Purchase requisitions, as a standard integrated process, using activities. My customer thinks that is more difficult and complicated to create Purchase requisitions directly using PS network. From your experience, is it better to create purchase directly using PS network or indirectly using MM transaction?

Hi Muly,
The decision to go for PR creation from PS or from MM will be based on the customer requirement.
1.If the customer requirement is to have both the cost integration as well as the integration project schedule with the PR , then you create the PR from PS.Any changes in the dates of the network will change the requirement dates of the components and will be transferred to the Purchase requisition. Further more planned cost distribution across the duration of the activity is possible in this approach.
2. Creating the PR from MM will have only the cost integration with the project. Any changes in the project schedule will not transfer the requirement date to the purchase requisition. You normally go for this where scheduling and procurement are independent of each other.
By clearly explaining these points to your client, I hope they can make a better choice of which approach to take based on business requirement.

There is nothing to accept. That simply is there if you wish to review the ToS.
Click a different button at the bottom of the iTunes screen.

Not while using iTunes as the player (oddly enough).
Depending on the radio's source web site, you may be able to buy direct using their web site player or a provided track listing. Again, strictly depends on what the original broadcaster wants to offer. Live365.com streams, many iTunes radio entries are from Live365, support buy from iTunes links when using the Live365 player - but only when you start the stream from their site instead of from the iTunes radio listing.

Purchasing CS5 directly from Adobe vs online reseller?

Is there any advantage to purchasing one of the CS5 bundles directly from Adobe's website versus purchasing it through another online such as Amazon? It's seems like there is some better pricing at other places, but just wondering if maybe you get better service or other perks for purchasing directly from Adobe.

A couple features you get from a direct purchase through Adobe are: (1) instant download of your product, with no shipping costs or time (this cannot be purchased anywhere else), and (2) a direct relationship with Adobe going forward - a third-party reseller is not going to correspond with you in the same way.
If you are considering purchasing through a reseller or retailer, make sure it is an authorized one - there is a lot of fake and damaging software out there...

T420 (4236) - Lenovo Update Retreiver is missing the Intel Wireless Driver Package

I'm using Lenovo Update Retreiver with ThinInstaller. We got our new model T420 and got everything except the driver for Intel Wireless Driver.
The new version Power Manager 3.62 is also fail. Missing information and won't install.
Could you please add it!

After seeing the above comment, I again tried to update Power Manager on my 3 ThinkPads, without success.
On my R500 running Windows 7 professional with SP1, Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still fails to download the package for Power Manager version 3.62. Of interest here is that when you try to list the details for this package, you still get a blank screen. If you try to bypass Update retriever, and go with System Update (version 4.01.0015) directly, the update still fails with message "1 package did not download".
On an R500, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) still fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.15.0017) still reports "1 package did not download".
On an R61, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) still fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.15.0017) still reports "1 package did not download".
I know that I can update these packages manually, but the point is that System Update and Update Retriever still cannot process this update. I use the update logs within System Update to keep track of what has been installed. Doing the update manually defeats that purpose.

How to contact Lenovo directly?

I have an IdeaPad s205. There is a non-reparaible issue: screen flickering.
I live in East Europe, so the Service center is in Poland, an we have to contact a telecenter.
The service did not foind the problem I reported, and told meg to make a video of it. Unfortunately, I have no porper video recording device (bad phone camera). But sent the youtue links.
They told me to send the computer bac k again and again for 4x times, then they will give me a replacement.
But that takes like 2 months, and I need this device for my work.
So, what's the way to contact Lenovo at a higher level to ask for help?
Because the customer service representative can only tell me the same and same again

If you ordered the machine with 4gb of ram direct from Apple, then they did you a favour by messing up the order.
You will save much more money by ordering the machine with 2gb of ram and then purchasing ram elsewhere. For example - www.Crucial.com - compare the prices of the ram from them and then from Apple. The ram supplied by Crucial is made by Micron who also supply Apple with the same ram, so you could spend less and get exactly the same chips.
Good luck.
PS - the Crucial ram warranty is lifetime as opposed to Apple supplied ram which is only warranted as long as the computer is.

I know that when I create a purchase requisition with direct procurement shopping cart, default account assignment is U. But for example if shopping cart has all data complete and generate a purchase order, which account assignment put as default?

Hello Muthu, yes, I know that. But I am refering to purchase order that is created when you create a shopping cart as direct.
If you create a shopping cart as direct and it generates a purchase requisition in SRM, then purchase requisition has as account assignment category U.
In this case, I want to create a shopping cart as direct, but it generates a purchase order in SRM. Which account assignment category put?

Abobakr,
Requirement can't be met.
But you can think of creation of purchase requisition inplace of planned order & convert this purchase requisition to purchase order.
You can achieve this by maintaining 'Create purchase requisition' as 1 or enetering the item category against the component in the FG BOM as N i.e non stock item.

Update Purchasing group directly in production system

We keep getting purchasing group changes requests and we follow conventional approach, configure in development - move to Quality and then to Production.
Since we have high number of requests, we are exploring the direct maintenance in Production system. Please advise on the best approach to this.

there is an alternative missing.
you can change a customizing activity to be a master data activity, and you do not need to have the PRODuction system open for customizing..
this is explained in OSS Note 135028 - Transfer IMG activity to current setting
However, I have made my experience in the past as I joined my current employer. In this system the purchasing groups were maintained in production system, which I did not know, and some key user did not know too, as they asked me to add a new purchasing group. I did this in the development system and transported to prouction.
And it happened, that I added a purchasing group in developement that was already accopied in production, so the entry in production got overwritten with my transport. so for a couple of days 2 buyers worked with the same purchasing group, they did not even realize it, as nobody is really looking at a PO form if a system is live for many years. This caused some trouble with statistics and as well with communications between vendors and us.
a second experience was made by the fact that people had deleted purchasing groups, after buyers had left the company. But SAP validates the existing of purchasing groups when archiving purchase orders. So I had to recreate all deleted purchasing groups before I could continue with archving.
I think that this experience is reason enough to not give this customizing activity into user hands.

Purchasing a MacBook -- Local Reseller vs. Apple Store

I plan to purchase a black MacBook within a month or two. The question -- Is there an advantage in purchasing a MacBook from a local reseller rather than online from the Apple Store? Online I qualify for the educator discount, but it is only $100.

There are benefits to both. If the price is comparable I perfer using a reseller as you get a much better personal experience. Although, online orders are much more instantaneous.
If you have problems and want to return for instance then I find that a good reseller beats the Apple Store (online) hands down. For example, my parents bought iMac G4 17" CTOs from a reseller and one of them had really bizarre issues. Anyway, even against Apple's return policy they took it back, and allowed them to upgrade to the recently released 20" version. And this was after they had them for two months (albeit unused during that time).

I plan to purchase a Lenovo A526 which bonded with DiGi service.
But I been searching info on web but I getting difference answers, so I think better I get a confirm answer here.
1. Is Lenovo A526 multitouch?
- Like when playing games need to zoom in and out by pinch and move 2 fingers in and out
2. Is Lenovo A526 able to move apps from phone to sd card?
- Since the size for us to use just 2GB memory even the phone giving us 4GB
