T42p and widescreen resolutions

Hi
I am about to get a new external monitor and widescreen came to mind (1920 x 1200). I can't find that resolution available on the driver settings and I haven't found a complete list of available resolutions on the lenovo site. I suspect windows for hiding some resolutions given the fact that my current external monitor is a 4:3 type and not 16:9. Does anyone know if my Thinkpad T42p (2373-Q1G) with ATI Mobility Fire GL T2 128 will support say a 24" widescreen monitor with suggested resolution above?
(Meanwhile, I'll just cross my fingers) :-)
-Tommy

Hello,
Have you checked with the manufacturer of your new widescreen external monitor to see if they offer a driver or profile information file to allow your video card to support 1920x1200 resolution?

  • Tecra M5 - Need graphics card driver to run a widescreen resolution

I have a Tecra M5 with the Intel 945GM Express chipset. Is there a driver available that will allow me to run a widescreen monitor sucessfully?
At the moment the screen is stretched and I do not have the 1280x960 setting available to me as an option.
    Help!!!!

Try to download the graphic driver from the Intel page. This is a original Intel GPU driver which could helps to use an widescreen resolution.
After choosing the appropriate driver for your operating system, download the driver file to a location on your harddisk.
The downloaded driver cannot be installed since the Toshiba driver is still present and needs to be removed.
To remove the driver perform the following steps:
    1. Go to Control Panel by clicking on "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Add or Remove Programs" and choose the "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver"
    2. Click on "Change/Remove" and remove the driver by following the uninstall wizard
    3. Restart the machine and install the driver by opening the downloaded file
    4. Restart your machine
    5. After restart, connect your external screen to your machine
    6. Right-click on the desktop and left-click on "Properties"
    7. Go to "Settings" -> "Advanced" -> "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile" -> "Graphics Properties"
    8. To set the native resolution on the external screen, choose the mode in the Section "Display Devices" and the resolution in "Display Settings"
    9. Make sure to disable the screen rotation, otherwise your screen will be rotated when choosing a wrong resolution.

  • Problem: MBP Is not allowing external monitor Widescreen resolutions.

I am using a 27" LCD HD TV (Yes, TV, not monitor) DVI->DVI and the MBP will not allow me to use a widescreen resolution on my external monitor.
Yes, I assure you, it is Widescreen. The native resolution is 1280x720.
Anyone have a clue how I can fix this? Running a stretched 4:3 screen ***** HARD. This was my old windows PC monitor and I never had this issue before.

    Hi,
I've got the same problem. Tried SwitchResX with not much success. I'm using as second screen a Benq w100 projector. When I force resolutions like 854x480 at about 60Hz, the projector won't recognise it, which makes sense since the input is not supported as such from a PC.
I think the clue would be sending a HDTV/HDMI signal through the DVI cable. Has anybody managed to do this with the ATI Radeon X1600 that comes with the MBP?

  • Widescreen resolutions LOWER than 1680x1050?

I have a MSI Geforce 7600 GS AGP 256mb graphic card and a Samsung 226BW monitor. My problem is, that I can't get any widescreen resolutions that are LOWER than the native 1680x1050. This is a problem, because I don't own the fastest machine (a 3ghz P4), so running games in the native resolution is impossible. Anybody who knows what to do here? Is it my graphic card that just doesn't support these resolutions, or is there something you can do about it?
I have updated my nvidia drivers, without any luck. I also tried to make all resolutions available, but this only gave me widescreen resolutions HIGHER than 1680x1050, which is no good...
    Anybody who can help?

    7600GS supports widescreen natively.
I think as far as gaming resolution is concern, the game should automatically refer the setting that the game is running.

  • GX623 Catalyst Widescreen Resolutions in XP

Hi again! I solved my Fn sound problem, but there`s another one.. Have XP 32-bit. I modified catalyst drivers (9.8 version, chosed 4600series when downloaded it) with MobilityModder. Driver is working, but widescreen 16:10 resolution I have only ONE and it is native screen 1680x1050, but I want more to choose. I will explain: For this week I was playing Far Cry 2 on vista, but then Vista crashed and I installed XP again. With vista there was more widescreen resolutions, so I played FC2 with 1280x768, but in XP there is no such resolution. How can I get it back, because with native resolution on high settings FPS drops to 15 sometimes, but in 1280x768 resolution - to 30 (integrated benchmark test results). So, how can I add custom resolutions?
Tried to install drivers from MSI web, but when installation starting - it says that Setup cannot find supported hardware :D
Emm, sorry for my bad english :(

Did you install the chipset drivers before the ATI drivers?
    Did you use this driver?

  • Wacom Volito2 and widescreen

I own a Wacom Volito 2, and I would like to use it on my new laptop, which has a widescreen (resolution is 1280x800).
However, even after configuring it correctly, the middle of the tablet is recognised somewhere in the bottom-left of the screen. So the driver is working fine, I just need to know how to configure it for widescreen, if possible.
I have tried to google it, but there seem to be no documentation on this, so any help is very valuable for me.
    Thank you

My graphire is an A5 size so your coordinates are smaller.
Your tablet is a 4:3 format and you need 16:9 or 16:10 depending on your monitor resolution so you need to lose a small section from the top/bottom or both of your tablet.  The Volito is 127.6mm x 92.8mm at 40 lpmm so your tablet resolution is 5104 x 3712 and you need to set the TopX TopY BottomX BottomY coordinates to match the screen. To test draw a circle and if it comes out oval the resolution is wrong.

  • How do I reduce the size of a graphic in Preview and maintain resolution?

    Preview 6.0.1
    Hi,
I have a graphic in Preview. The largest file is a .jpg at 77 KB. Information about the graphic is in the attached "Adjust Size ScreenPreview Galleon 77.
I find that when I reduce the size of the file using Previews menu bar functions that I usually use — Screenshot>Zoom reduce>Select the smaller picture>Screenshot — that the result is an image that has lost the focus, the resolution of the original graphic.
How do I reduce the size of a graphic and maintain resolution? I've never used the Adjust Size Screen functions.
I'm not stuck on having to use Preview to accomplish this, but I do use Preview a lot.
    Thanks,

Choose a smaller width, the height will adjust appropriately, and the resolution will stay the same.

  • Internet Security UI scaling on Windows 8.1 and high resolution displays

Please make the Internet Security UI scale properly on Windows 8 and high resolution screens. I have a 13" laptop with 3200x1800px screen resolution and Internet Security UI is pretty much unusable without a magnifying glass. Here's a screenshot (scaled down to 1920p). • IWeb and full resolution pictures for download

I finally got a good camera and wanted to share those glorious 12MP (3-4MByte) pictures via iWeb. I'd not paid much attention before now, but iWeb is fond of "optimizing" and reducing the size of pictures in order to save space and improve upload and download times. Even if you uncheck "optimize" in preferences, and select "download full resolution" in the photo inspector, I've found that some times you get the full multi-megabyte picture, then for reasons unknown to me, most other pictures have been reduced from 1/4 to 1/10 the original file size and the resolution has been reduced, say form 3000x4000 pixel to 768x1024 (seems arbitrary ...).
How to deal with this. Nothing direct that I can find: uncheck optimize works for a bit, them reverts; full size download refers to the size after such "optimizing." I think it's a bug, but maybe others think it's a feature.
My indirect work around: use your public folder on idisk in me.com. Create a folder structure to mirror your iWeb picture album structure to simplify life for your guest. Password protect it if you want some privacy.
Then go ahead and let iWeb optimize, and select the download size you want (maybe "medium" is fine for some users, for example).
But include on each picture or album page a hyperlink to your me.com public folder: the link will look something like https://public.me.com/<your me.com name here>. If you've specified a password, it will be requested when someone uses the link. I don't think there is any finer grain hyperlink available to your public folder - for example, to the sub folders you create to mirror your album structure.
The public idisk options are in preferences in idisk on iWeb.
If you only want to share a few pictures, it may be easier for the user to share individual file with a similar hyper link set up for each one using link outside the picture container object (can't be inside), or for each picture on the detail page (the comment, such as the image name, can be made a clickable element (hyper link). If you have tens or more pictures to share at once, this method is pretty inconvenient.
The sharing options for individual files are available when you select file via idisk in me.com
So, there it is. Hope this suggestion helps someone.

PS: Yes, I've offered feedback to Apple about this lack of flexibility in iWeb.

If you only want to share a few of the larger files zip them and put them in a folder titled Pictures in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder. Then create a thumbnail or text hyperlink to them at http://web.me.com/MMeAccount_Name/Pictures/FileName. That way they will immediately download when the link is selected.
A viewable version of the photo can be placed on the page and linked to the larger zipped version on your iDisk.

  • Image Size reduction and gain resolution... Help?

I have searched the forums and seen plenty of talk of Image Size and resolutions but havent stumbled upon what I need.
Hopefully someone will be nice enough to help me or to link me to help?
I have a large photo (3456x2304) but it is at 72ppi.
I am trying to use it as a very small image (200px or so) but I need it at 300ppi.
I keep going into Image Size and reducing its dimensions to the size I need and marking 300dpi.
Problem is when it resizes it gets horribly pixelated!!!
I cant figure out how to use the image size and/or crop tool in order to reduce the dimensions and not lose quality.
Best work around I have found is to reduce it to about 750px 72ppi and then in illustrator contract the image to the actual print size while gaining resolution...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a relationship between image size and ppi (resolution)  that can not be changed.  Here is an example from the web titled "understanding resolution".
Let's say you have an image that is 9 inches wide and 6 inches high with a resolution of 240 pixels/ per inch (8.9mb file).  If you change one of the values the other two will change (resample image turned off).  In this example if you changed the width to 6 inches the height would become 4 inches and the resolution would become 360 ppi.
So if you are taking a large image and reducing the size the ppi has to go up.  There are the same number of pixels in the picture, they are compressed into a smaller space.  The article says this is because a digital image has no absolute size or resolution.  All it has is a certain number of pixels in each dimension.
    Hope this helps.

  • Standard video and widescreen on same disc?

Is it possible to burn a standard and widescreen movie on the same disc?
    Thanks

iDvd asks that you make a choice between one or the other from the onset of your project. So you're pretty much forced to decide between one or the other. However, it's possible DVDSP (part of Apple's FCS) may provide more choices in this regard.

  • How can I export an image from Illustrator same canvas size and custom resolution?

Hey all.  i am using Adobe Illustrator CS5 for creating images for iPhone app icons the size of image 374 px 374 px and 264 ppi. i created an image same size and ppi .the problem after export the image file size changing to  1371px x 1371px and 264 ppi pixel dimension. How can I export same canvas size and same resolution file from illustrator

    10111980,
If you just forget about PPI and use Save for Web, you will get the 374 x 374 pixel size.
The 1371 x 1371 pixels is because you somehow increase the resolution by 264/72.
You should never mix pixel by pixel sizes and PPI.
The 374 x 374 pixels is the actual image size. At 264 PPI that will be about 1.417 inches. At 72 PPI that will be about 5.194 inches.

  • What value does CROP have in editor if you cannot define output document size and document resolution

Cannot define document size in EDITOR or output resolution. Document can only be defined as RATIO and output is fixed at 300. This problem does not allow you to edit in EDITOR then crop to a specific size so you don't know what the x,y dimension will be once opened in elements. My images are 36x54 at 72 which are 3:4 and can be resized to 4x6 8x12 and so on. Once document is in elements you cannot resize.....either for print or screen to these values without doing another crop or maybe I want something larger than the given crop.

I don't comprehend this at all.
On the crop tool's option bar, there should be a drop-down where one can get away from the default crop preset options to "Custom." The replacement values can be entered in inches, and the resolution can be changed to suit as well. Just highlight what you see, and type in new value for px/in.

  • Programmatically change screen orientation and/or resolution?

We don't have VB.NET available and I was wondering if it is possible to create VBA code that would change:
    1) screen orientation (and maybe resolution)
    2) on a specific monitor (in a multiple monitor setup; we have two)
The idea would be to put it into an Excel workbook and have the macro autorun then exit.
I see examples for C#.Net but can't find any for VBA. Maybe it's not possible. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: ANY MS Office application can be used as long as it can be used via a shortcut on the desktop and run automatically. "One click and done" is the idea.

    Hello Doug,
I believe you can use Windows API functions to get the job done.
Anyway, the current forum is for Office Apps. I'd recommend asking VBA questions on the
    General Office Development  forum instead.

    Hi Dougmeister,
I agree with Cindy that the VBA doesn't have function to achieve the goal. Also there is no function in Excel object for this requirement.
The way we can achieve the goal is that using Windows API as Cindy motioned. And here is an helpful article talking about this topic:
Office Talk: Working with VBA in the 32-bit and 64-bit Versions of Office 2010
And about Windows API issue, I would suggest that you get more effective response from
General Windows Desktop Development Issues forum.
    Hope it is helpful.
