T43 1875-D6U will not charge battery or power on.

I have a T43 1875-D6U that has a power issue.
I replaced the A/C input jack and purchased a new genuine battery but the system will not charge the battery. I have tested, with a multimeter, the wall outlet, the a/c power adapter, the power jack connection opening and the connection to the board, and i have tested the battery terminals at the board --- everything checks out as getting power.
When i received the new battery, there was 5% battery life because the OS booted and i could see the battery indicator on the SYS tray but system would still not charge the battery. Now the battery is dead and I am back to "square one".
I have disassembled this laptop 5 times now trying to troubleshoot this issue.
PLEASE ADVISE!

Hi, I am having the same problem. But as yet no-one seems able to provide a solution. Have you made any more progress with this?

  • Palm Pre crazy symptoms: "phone offline", will not charge battery, will not start, error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved"

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You may wish to search the text to find your specific issue(s). There is no solution in my post. Look for possible answers in the responses to come.
I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone worked great. Last night I plugged in the phone and updated the OS. After completion, I selected "Done" and went to bed.
    - First Series of Issues: "Phone Offline", will not charge battery -
In upper lefthand corner of the phone there is the message "phone offline". Although the phone has been charging all night it reads "26% battery". I called the general Sprint tech support number and we tried the following things:
    1) Restart phone (press and hold power button, then select "turn off". after power down, press and hold power button to power on.)
    2) Reset the phone (several different ways - call tech support so that you do this correctly)
The individual at Sprint then sent me to another tech support person, presumably 2nd tier.
    - Second Series of Issues: Error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" -
Sprint tech support person #2 also had me restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In her words "we've tried every palm pre trick I know" and each time the phone was unresponsive. Often we received the error message "phone is offline". We did a full erase and after that the phone would no longer restart. At this point the error message came up saying "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" which referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky background with a semitransparent box over it with white text.
Sprint tech support person #2 then connected me with Palm support and the dance continued. Again we tried a whole bunch of resetting and restarting and erasing options. Palm support instructed me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. While that was happening he had me hold the "volume up" button and plug the phone into the charger. This caused a USB symbol to appear on the phone. When the file was complete I received an error message that the file couldn't run. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He then transferred me to another Palm support person who works with Mac users.
Palms tech support person #2 then informed me that I should have selected the "mac" download option on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked her through the whole series of webpages, telling her that it says that you need Windows (version whatever) or Mac (version whatever) but that at no time was there an option to download a different WebOS Doctor for different operating systems. After some more discussion she told me she would have to have someone call me back tomorrow.
    - Third Series of Issues: phone stuck on USB symbol -
So at the moment the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I booted up the mac in Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error. Later this afternoon I'm heading into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.
In the meantime, I got onto this forum and located a thread that provided a direct link to the necessary file:
    palm.cdnetworks.net/staging/rom/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
After downloading that file, which I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc working on my computer. It required that I recharge the phone completely before beginning and now it's on the screen that says "Don't disconnect your phone" and the file is at 3% complete. Only... it's been at 3% complete for almost 30 minutes.
I am hoping that Palm will follow up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving at 7am on a business trip and would love to have the thing working. Any suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get the think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I don't fancy getting through security with my phone wired to my laptop.
    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Our phone support is open every day Monday through Sunday, although there are different hours of operation for the weekend. If after a webOS Doctor reset you are still experiencing the same problems, I would likely recommend replacement, either in a local store for your carrier or through our technical support department.
There may be additional technical support offered or suggested over the phone, this would need to be done first before a replacement could be issued.
    Hope this helps,

  • Since my I upgraded to ios7 my iPhone 4 will not charge, battery completely dead.  Any ideas

Since my I upgraded to ios7 my iPhone 4 will not charge, battery completely dead.  Any ideas

I updated my iphone 4 to ios7 three days ago. It now will only charge if connected to a computer USB port, either Mac or windows. It no longer charges on any wall mounted USB cable, like it did before the upgrade. The wall mounted cables still work just fine with an iPhone 4S and a new iPad retina display but not at all with the iPhone 4. Took it to a genius at apple store and they checked the battery. It still charges to 80% of original. They were clueless and suggested I replace the unit.  It seemed to be related to ios7

  • My iPod shuffle, which I prchased in 2009 only worked for a short time so I put it back in the box and just recently took it out. I will not charge and the power light does not come on. It was faulty from the start and thought I was out the money I paid.

My iPod shuffle only worked for a short time. It will not charge  and the power light does not come on. Bought it in 2009. Put it back in the box and in my desk. Recently tried to get it to work again but no luck. Anyone else have this problem? Very disappointed with the product although my wifes work perfectly.

Can't say I haven't done the same kind of thing...keep finding things I had every intention of...
If you have the chance stop by an Apple Retail store and talk to them about it...they often work deals for replacement of out of warranty non-working items for prices around half price.  Won't hurt to stop by and see what they will do for you.

  • HT1476 upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and will not charge battery. when plugged in gives message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".

Just Upgraded my IPOD 5 to iOS 7.0.2 and it will not charge the battery anymore.
When I plug it in, it now gives the message "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this IPOD".
Anyone else have this issue after they upgraded the iOS system?

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • My iphone 4S will not charge unless the power is switched off.  How to fix?

    Hello,
My iPhone 4S will not charge unless it is switched off.  This happened suddenly with no other symptom several weeks ago.  If I plug the charger in, while powered on, the phone doesn't appear to detect it has been plugged in and the battery icon doesn't change its display to show charging.  Charging only happens when the phone is powered off completely.
I did some searches for this type of problem and saw it has happened to a few with earlier version iphones, but didn't see any published solutions.
A visit to the local Apple store didn't help either as I was told had to make an appointment; can't make an appointment for awhile because out of the country and no Apple stores where I'm at.
This is a very annoying problem.  Anyone else have this happen and have a fix?

I got this problem solved and just want to let others know what it was.
I followed ewdel1's advice and brought my phone in to have it looked at and sure enough, was told that this is a problem others have had and it was due to a faulty integrated circuit.  Luckily, I was able to take this in to be looked at when I did because my 1 year warranty was about to expire in a week.
Apple replaced my 4S with a "new" phone.  The replacement looks and works good as new, so happy I didn't have to go through a hassle and the replacement was very straightforward.

  • Gnex will not charge in car power source anymore.

Does anyone know why Gnex will not charge in the car while it's on?. I changed the wire and the adapter for the power source. It worked at one time but now it does not. I even tried using the wire that came with my Gnex and still not charging while on. If I shut it down it will charge but not while it is on. HELP...

My Gnew does the same thing also. No rhyme or reason to it. I have done everything under the moon to fix it. Turn it off, take battery out, even bought a new charger, still hates me I brought my issue to my local Verizon store and got no results. Makes me upset that I pay over $100 a month for a smart phone that isn't very smart. I have been with Verzon since they took over Bell Atlantic and feel that loyalty means nothing. I would love to get a new phone but no upgrade for me till Jan 2014 I was told. So, I am stuck with a phone that decides when it will charge and barely holds that charge when it does. For the first time I am actually considering bailing ship and going to AT&T. Don't think my patience will last till Jan 2014.

  • Power book will not charge, battery just replaced.

Recently the power adapter or the power connector on my computer would easily disconnect from each other.
This morning I noticed that it was not charging at all, played around with it trying to jiggle it into place yet it does not have any connection.
Before I go and spend $100 on a new charger,or $200 on a service bill, is there a way to tell if it is the adapter or the connector on the powerbook.
I noticed on the cylindrical plug that the silver tube has seperated and was wondering if that would have to be sealed in order to maintain a ground.
I know it is not the battery as I was able to get one on warranty, through apple care, and it charged full last night, which it is showing 4 hours left.
    Thanks

is there a way to tell if it is the adapter or the connector on the powerbook.
The easiest thing to do is go to an Apple store where they will have a working power adapter, or if you have a friend with one, use it. It sounds like the female socket itself may be shot, which would require replacing the DC-in card, which is around a $75+ part, plus labor to install.

  • T410 Will not charge battery!

I have a T410 which does not charge the battery. I have installed the latest BIOS and Power Management software without any thing changing. I noticed that even with a fully charged battery if unplugged from the AC adapter it will die instantly as though the battery is dead! Could this be the system board? I'm not sure what else to try in diagnosing this issue.

    lead_org wrote:

Well it appears it's not the battery or the software because I had another new still in the box T410, Type 2522-22U of which I used to interchange batteries and power adapter with. One last thing I tried was  switching hard drives with the factory fresh image on it and I found that O/S to behave the same way in this laptop. Still reports the battery at the same charge and not charging. Looks like its the system board. Apparently there is a circuit on it that regulates the charging process. That same battery in the NIB laptop charges just fine!

  • My new T410 will not charge battery! Bizarre

Hello, Today I recieved a T410 laptop I purchased from ebay. (perhaps a mistake)
The laptop appears to work fine while plugged into ac, however the battery will not take a charge. Lenovo power manager says the batter is at 15% capacity and "charging", however this never increases and the laptop dies instantly when the power cable is removed. It does not turn on without ac power. When it is plugged in and closed, the battery charging LED is illuminated, however it blinks (i'm not sure if it is supposed to do this?). It is solid orange for 4 second and then one quick blink.
I have updated the bios, completely removed the power manager software and driver and reinstalled it. This has not helped my issue.
One concern I have is that I purchaed this laptop refurbished from the states. I am located in canada. I hope I am eligible for warranty service.

Sounds like the battery is defective. You should be able to get it replaced if the laptop is still within the first year of warranty. Whether or not Lenovo will acknowledge your request depends on where the warranty applies.

  • My ipad will not charge from mains power

my ipad doesnt charge even when connected to mains with the cble and usb charger provided it just shows a not charging symbole next to the battery level and sometimes pops up with a message stateing that i can not charge with this accseriore i need help urgently

Do you have access to another charger and cable?  You could have a bad charger, bad cable or problem with the cable to iPad connection.  First test would be a different charger and cable to see if that resolves the problem.
If not, you need to visit an Apple genius bar and have the techs check the system to see where the fault is.

  • Year Old 4G 20GB simply will not charge - battery issue already?

I've had a 4G ipod for a year now which charged with both the USB cord to my laptop and the firewire cord to the AC adapter until yesterday.
Once before I ran the battery low enough that it wouldn't mount on the computer and I got the battery with exclamation point icon. However it did take a charge from the AC adapter. This time the icon showed for a second and then completely died. I have not been able to get the ipod to mount or charge on the laptop (or another computer's USB port) or been able to charge from the AC adapter.
I followed Apple's troubleshooting (including waiting over 30 minutes for the ipod to recognize the charge from the AC adapter, but it refuses to turn on at all, and I can't get it to reset. I use the Ipod a lot, but not nearly enough to go through the estimated 300-500 charge cycles to deplete the battery.
    Any thoughts?

Try hooking it up to the AC adapter and leave it to charge overnight. If it is still unresponsive the next morning, I'd start looking around for a Apple service tech.

  • SL510 will not charge battery

I had a battery that wasn't charging, and assumed the problem was with the battery. But I bought a new one, and it won't charge either. So now I think the problem is with my SL510. Power Manager says the battery is in good condition, and sees that it's at 12%, but it just doesn't charge it. I installed the latest version of Power Manager, and that made no difference. I tried to update battery firmware but it said it was up to date (even though the version is listed as all zeros). Any ideas?

    hi ubiquity,
thank you for your post and welcome to the community. We had a very similar issue previous pertainng to the battery issue you had faced. You may want to try these steps.
    Disconnect AC
    Shutdown
    Remove battery
    Connect AC
    Startup
Under the Batteries category, right-click all of the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listings, and select Uninstall (it’s ok if you only have 1).
    Shutdown
    Disconnect AC
    Insert battery
    Connect AC
    Startup
Hope this helps out. Do let me knkow how it goes.
    Regards
