T43 cpu upgrade shuts down laptop

i have a t43 2668-43u. i tried to install intel m 770 cpu, unit shuts down without warning  shortly after booting to windows xp sp3 (i was in the middle of 7 upgrades).
i put the intel m 750 back in and the unit ran fine for 3 days (powered on the whole time).
is there some adjustments i need to make for the 770 to run correctly?
thank you
charlie

Sounds like a bad CPU to me - 770, that is.
No adjustments of any kind are required, it's a plug & play upgrade.

  • Iphone usb cable shuts down laptop with error any ideas why

every time i unplug the iphone usb cable it shuts down laptop with an error,i'm running windows7 on laptop and get a blue screen error.

This is a common problem with corrupt USB drivers. Try using a different user account, and make sure that you eject the device properly before removing the iphone cable. I don't know what system your running so I can't link you to any USB drivers, but google is always your friend. If all else fails, un-install itunes, re-install it again, back it up with all your documents to a USB drive, then re-install windows 7. Not pleasent, but possible.

  • Problems shutting down laptop

    Good morning!!
I have a Toshiba Satellite P75-A7200 and sometimes I have problems shutting down it. I have seen in some forums that it can be because I have open apps. After checking it out I see that all of them are closed and I cannot close the laptop yet... Do you have any idea why it can happen and how to solve it?
    Thanks!!!!!

Have you upgraded to Windows 8.1? If so, did you follow these instructions?
How to Update from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
What happens when you disable fast startup?
Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power button does > Change settings that are currently unavailable (near the top)
Under Shutdown settings at the bottom, clear the check box for Turn on fast startup (recommended), and click the Save changes button.

  • Power supply shuts down laptop during gaming.

    I have a cx705mx.
This happens only during gaming, everything else is fine..browsing the net, watching movies etc. So if I open a game (world of warcraft) with the power supply in the laptop will shut down within 1-2 minutes. The lights are still lit but the laptop is unresponsive, i have to take the battery out and put it back in to turn it on. However if i take the power supply out and just use battery power I can play games flawless, no problems, but if I stick the power supply back in the laptop shuts down.

It can be the problem from the adapter, but you need another good adapter to verify.
Also, try to monitor the temperature of the CPU and the GPU before the shut down and see if you're having the high temperature of CPU/GPU which caused the shut down.

  • Software upgrade shuts down windows at 'boot ROM"

I have tried multiple times to upgrade to 4.5 device software from the desktop manager. It always shuts down windows...showing a blue screen, locks up my phone until I remove the battery.....then restart my laptop and it says it recovered from a "fatal error". Tmobile  first told me to download latest version of desktop manager, which I did.  I still have the same problem, then they told me it is my computer and couldn't help me. I have Windows XP w/latest updates.  Anyone have any idea why this is happening? Thank you!

I am having this exact same problem my phone restarts when updating the software after boot ROM, then it says there has been a fatal error. it does this everytime i try update my software. so any help would be handy.

  • Is there a way to automatically shut down laptop when power button pressed?

Of all the things I am having to struggle through a learning curve on MacOS (converted from Windows), this might seem like a rather benign concern, but I'm going to ask anyway. . .
I would like for my laptop to automatically go through a shutdown process when the power button is pressed - that is, bypass the dialog box that appears when hitting the power button that gives you the option to restart/shutdown, etc.
I've looked in all of my system preferences without anything that controls the behavior of this button so I imagine there might be a terminal command or an app that might accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I'm trying to set up my MacOS to have the power button automatically go through the shutdown process as IF I had actually clicked on a confirmation box to shut down the computer.
I don't know of any way of doing that... perhaps there's a 'haxie' out there that would generate a shutdown command when pressing the power button, but I don't know of one.
    Sorry,

  • Split X2 after Win 8.1 upgrade shuts down after 5 minutes and has to be hard booted to start up

This has become extremely annoying. I upgraded to Win 8.1 after I bought the X2 just before Christmas. if I leave the X2 for just a few minutes, it will either go into sleep mode or just completely shut down (no way to know which it will do and how long it will take). In any event, it has to be "hard booted", in the sleep case, holding the on/off button down until it shuts off and then restarting, in the "just off" case, just pressing the on/off button to start it again.
In either case, tons of crap regarding all of the applications - Explorer, Word, Excel, Chrome, Outlook, that had to be shut down (unexpectedly).
I did not change the power scheme and it has been reset (probably more than once) to try and correct the problem.
Thanks for anyone that can help me solve this really annoying problem.

    Hi SSteveX2,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I can imagine that would be a frustrating with the random shutdowns. How long do you have it set before it goes to sleep? There are a couple of things to check. Start by running a System File Check to see if encounters any corrupt files. Another option is the using the HP Diagnostic Tools to see if it discovers any issues with your hardware. Run the System Test – Extensive Test.

You can order a replacement fan from eBay but you need to first take apart the laptop to find the fan part number to make sure you get the right part. Otherwise you will have to send it in to get it fixed. Those are your two options right now.

I understand that when you power off your notebook it automatically restarts in 4 seconds.
You have tried several steps to try and resolve this but there is no change.
As it repeated the behavior with the hard drive removed, you know it is not an issue with Windows.
You have tried updating the bios and returning it to bios defaults but no change.
Here is a link from answers.microsoft.com that helped other people with this issue.
Windows 7 computer restarts automatically after shutdown
This does suggest you edit your registry which does have the potential to cause issues, so be very careful.  I would also suggest backing up your registry before you attempt it, just in case.
Back up the registry  from Windows.microsoft.com
If that has not helped, I would try removing the Cmos or RTC battery for 30 seconds and then replacing it.
Please let me know if this helped.

  • External monitor shuts down laptop

    Hey All,
I've got a weird problem that just came up. I've got a 17" external Apple flat screen monitor that I got off of eBay about 4 months ago. I bought the Apple DVI to ACD display adaptor and have been using the external as a second screen when I'm editing video and authoring DVDs. Everything was great until two nights ago when I plugged it in and all of a sudden it caused my laptop to shut down almost immediately after I connected it to my PowerBook (17" - about 1 year old). I checked it on my older 15" PowerBook and the same thing - shuts down right after plugging it in. I finally checked it on my even older G4 desk top and there were no problems - stayed on and didn't shut down. I've tried just about every variable - plug it in when I boot, plug it in after it's warmed up, charger plugged in - not plugged in, you name it, all of a sudden after 4 months it just stopped working with my laptops. Any suggestions would be grateful as I do alot of editing and the external monitor has made my life much easier because of the added real estate. Thanks in advance-
    17 Powerbook & G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

either you could try different adapter with your monitor - if it does not work, it's the display.
or you could take laptop and adapter to the store and ask them to connect it to different monitor - if it works like that, adapter is probably ok.

  • ALOM Upgrade Shuts Down Server

I was upgrading the ALOM on a V210 from 1.5.1 to 1.5.5 and following the instructions in the README file:
    1. Use telnet or rlogin through the network to log in to the system as root.
Caution: Do not attempt this procedure while logged into the system
    through the SERIAL MGT port.
    2. Change directories as follows:
    # cd /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib
    3. If there is no images subdirectory, create one:
    # mkdir images
    4. Change to the images directory:
    # cd images
    5. Place this file in the images directory:
    ALOM_1.5.5_fw.tar.gz
    6.Uncompress the file:
    # gunzip ALOM_1.5.5_fw.tar.gz
    7. Unpack the tar file:
    # tar xf ALOM_1.5.5_fw.tar
    The following files are created:
    README (this file)
    copyright
    alombootfw (boot image file)
    alommainfw (main image file)
    8. Load the boot image file alombootfw into the System Controller hardware:
    # /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm download boot alombootfw
    9. When scadm completes, wait 60 seconds.
    10. Load the main image file alommainfw into the System Controller hardware:
    # /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm download alommainfw
Approximately 120 seconds after scadm completes, ALOM
    is available for use.
Shortly after completing Setp 8 (installing alombootfw), the system rebooted itself!
    # /usr/platform/`uname -i`/sbin/scadm download boot alombootfw
    .................... (100%)
    Download completed successfully
    Please wait for verification
    Complete

THE SYSTEM pacific.yipes.com IS BEING SHUT DOWN NOW ! ! !
Log off now or risk your files being damaged
The system actually powered itself off, and the ALOM was crashed: neither the serial port, telnet port, or front panel power button were usable. The Fault LED was illuminated.
Removing power from the system restored the system to a state where the power button would power the system back on. The system rebooted, but the front panel power LED was OFF, the rear panel power LED was ON, and the ALOM could be pinged at its IP address but telnet was down.
After getting the system back up again, and completing the main FW install, I overhauled the top cover and reseated the connectors between the front and rear main boards. Everything returned to normal, and I think I have flaky hardware.
I have upgraded the ALOM on two more V210s and encountered no problems.
However, step 9 in the README (60 second wait before installing the main FW) seems VERY important - if your system decides to turn itself off during the FW install, which takes a few minutes, my guess is you will end up with an unusable system.

I am having this exact same problem my phone restarts when updating the software after boot ROM, then it says there has been a fatal error. it does this everytime i try update my software. so any help would be handy.

  • Flash 10 shuts down laptop

I installed the Flash Player 10 and have Vista. Using IE, any game or video using Flash shuts down my Dell laptop. I have tried all the fixes in the tech forums I can find and nothing works. I have installed and uninstalled and even considered trying to go back to Flash 9 LOL Any help suggestions appreciated! Thanx, Dawn

I have not updated any drivers. I thought it had to be a Flash issue, but have been told that perhaps the games/videos are overheating something (can't remember what it was) LOL I think my best bet is going to be to take it to someone who knows what they are doing cause I'm not sure how to even find what graphic card is in this laptop...

  • Hpcmpmgr.exe display when shutting down laptop

I originally posted this question under operating systems and software and was advised to post it under "printers".  I am new to this site and forum and hope to get some advice on the above mentioned problem.  I have a photosmart printer all in one, hp officejet J6480 series, my laptop is a Toshiba Satelitte L300D windows XP.  The laptop was purchased new in December 2008 and the printer all-in-one in Feb 2009.  I installed the printer and everthing worked fine.  The other day when I turned off my laptop I received a message box stating "End program"...hpcmpmgr.exe cannot end...click "end now" to close this program.  The only changes made to my system were the usual updates by windows etc.  I am using a USB hub and have this printer, speakers, and mouse pointer plugged into it.  Since my first post I have tried clicking on the "remove hardware" icon on the toolbar on the bottom right corner and selecting the device to remove it properly but I still get the same display when I turn off my laptop.  I would appreciate any suggestions on proper shut down technique to avoid this display.  Thank you.

Hi, thank you for your answer!
I was truly troubled about this issue because it was a 'clean' pre-installed system and I didn't do anything to it.
But it's good to hear, that I'm actually the only one having this kind of problem with Toshiba's new 550D.
Anyways: *It seems that I somehow managed to solve this csc-issue by uninstalling Microsoft Essentials and all its components with a removal tool.*
I'd be lucky if I'd found the culprit causing those error messages - if not, I'll try this csc.exe fix tool you just recommended.
    Thanks again!
