T43 S-Video

I have a T43 with Mobility Radeon X300 video and a S-video port running XP-Pro.
How do I enable the S-Video connection so I can connect it to to a TV?
I have tried to use the instructions  " How to enable TV-Out - ThinkPad" at    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-58625.html#ati  but I do not get the screens shown there for a TV connection..
How do I enable the S-Video port?

  • Video controller issue on my t43

I have an IBM T43 Thinkpad. It had WIN XP on it. I migrated the OS to WIN 7. Now my video controller needs a driver for it. I have searched the web for a driver with no success. Can someone help me find a video controller driver WIN 7 32bit 64 bit for my thinkpad please? My email is [email protected] Thankyou for your support.

Yes, that's what I was looking for.
There's no officially supported driver for Vista/W7 for Intel integrated graphics on T43. You'll have to search the web for a modded driver.

  • T43 video driver instal fails

I've tryed to get the driver for my T43 laptop from this page:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-61503
My  machine type is 1871-A32 and in this page it says:
     - *2 Machine Types 18xx of ThinkPad T43 family are not supported. Please get the correct package for them. A link is provided below.
But when I look the drivers for the 18xx models I don't fine any.
Anyway I've downloaded this driver, but when I try to install it, the installer tellsme that I need to install Net Framework 2.0, but my thinkpad already has it (indeed it has Net Framework 1.1, 2.0 Service Pack 2, 3.0 Service Pack 2 and 3.5 SP1). After try to install the Net Framework 2 it ask me to restart, but when I start again the installer, it ask me again to install the framework.
Checking the contents of the driver installation folder (C:\DRIVERS\WIN\DISPLAY) I notice a folder NET32 which has the Net Framework installer (dotnetfx.exe). I try to install it manually and I get the error "Setup cannot continue because this version of the .NET Framework is incompatible with a previously installed one." and that's because my framework version is SP2, but the installer fails to detect it and stops all the installation process.
I want yor help to get a link to download the correct driver and/or get this driver installed.
    Thanks in advance.

    I did find this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-116965-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    Is that the one?
While not specific in what I have found in the past, but if HP issues an update, then it is usually means that is designed for that particular equipment and is different from the NVidia driver found on the NVidia site.  From the pictures of the card, it would appear to be a true NVidia card but that model also has an i7 processor.  The two together may give way to the update.

  • Why T60 do not have S-video?

To my amazement I have found that there is no S-Video port in T60 that I bought in Jan'08. I was so disappointed to find out, that there is no way that I can connect my laptop with my TV(except buying new hardware- which is of course not a good option). I was using T43, my company’s laptop and I was impressed with the performance, so I bought T60 for me without noticing and checking that there is no S-video port. I bought without checking because I had full faith in Lenovo, after all, it's a BRAND.!!!!! (I doubt now) and the one T-series that I was using have every such thing.
Later, I wanted my T60 to connect to my TV. I searched over the internet and reached to a conclusion that I need to buy more hardware, just because T60 do not have S-Video.  WHY?
Why T60 do not have S-video port? Is there any other way to connect it to my TV(without buying new hardware)?
Also I want to highlight that the sound quality and the volume level is the poorest of all the notebooks I have seen so far. Now I am regretting why I bought this machine.
Even fingure print login is starting malfunctioning, I dunno why but when I start the window with the alternate password it keep asking for figure print and the small window get stuck on the desktop.
Hoping to get some sympathy  atleast, for buying such a horrible machine.

Not a good sign. If the following does not resolve the problem then it is a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is required.

  • T43 unable to extend desktop

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help - I used to be able to extend my desktop on my old T43 thinkpad to watch films on my tv but for some reason it now wont work.
I am using a s-video output lead and my graphics card is a ATI Mobility Radeon X300.
When I right click and go to settings I move the second monitor to the left to enable it, set the screen resolution to 800x600, tick the 'extend my windows...' but when i click on 'apply' the screen flashes but when it comes back the box is unticked and screen two is back on the right hand side.
I have updated the ATI drivers from their website.
    Any advice greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Budeman

Is "Fn + F7" combination working on your system (considering that for the T43 the combination would be the same as for my T61p).
Instead extending, did you try cloning - at least for the sake of testing?
Putting it differently - try using the Presentation Director app, from the ThinkVantage suite, maybe you get to extend the desktop space. It can be done via Windows, as you tried, but it should be possible via the Lenovo software as well.

  • T43 extended desktop (2nd monitor) maxes at 1280x768

I use an HD Flat panel TV with computer monitor capability as a 2nd monitor for extending my desktop.  This 2nd monitor has a very high resolution capability (the manual recommends a setting of 1920x1080 for computer connections).  The T43 display settings dialogue limits this second monitor to 1280x768 pixels, even though it allows much higher resolutions for the T43's built-in screen (I currently run at 1400x1050).
I see no Lenovo driver updates that address resolution issues for a 2nd monitor, but would really like to take advantage of a higher 2nd monitor resolution in my work.  Am I limited by my video hardware, video driver, BIOS, or what?  Is there a solution to my problem?

  • T43 BSOD's when connected to a Projecter

Ok here is a good one for you guys.
I have a T43 type 1875 that blue screens everytime it is plugged into a projector.  I have other similar laptops (some T43's some HP's) and they all work with the projector without any issues.  This system in particular also can connect to a LCD monitor without causing BSODing.  I have swapped cables, updated video drivers, formatted the computer and reimaged.  At this point I am lost.  Any other suggestions?
    Thanks in advance....

What you describe is not an Apple or iPhone issue.
Talk to Toshiba.  If you chose to pursue the issue with them, that is up to you.  No one here can tell you what the correct solution is.
Keep in mind, all iPhones ship will a wall plug to permit the device being charged from a wall outlet.

  • T43 Extended Desktop

    Hello,
I am attempting to use the extended desktop feature with my Thinkpad T43 series laptop.  I have an IBM Thinkvision monitor and the Radeon 300 video card, but can't seem to get the darned thing working.
I press FN+F7 and create a profile for the extended desktop, but once I test the settings, the second screen kicks into presentation mode and comes up with an error saying the setting can not be applied properly.  Very strange and very difficult.  If anyone has any ideas, I would be happy to hear them...
    Thanks

How about just using the trusty old display properties of window to configure your extended desktop setting????

  • T43 not working

my T43 is not working.i did take it to IBM service centre but, they said that the visual chip was not working and have to change the mother board charging around 25k.i bought the laptop for 50k 2 years ago, i have all my data in it .
can anyone PLS suggest me a better solution.

You can do a solder reflow on the motherboard, there is youtube video teaching you how to do it.
You can take apart the laptop following the T43 hardware manual.

  • T40 video crashes when overloaded, won't show on reboot until it cools off (NOT GPU solder?)

Problem: If this T40 boots up successfully, there would be no problem with light to moderate use even for a long time. But, once it's warm and it's put into standby or rebooted, then it wouldn't boot up (or wake up from standby) unless it has cooled off for about 10 minutes. When it wouldn't boot up, the display would be blank with the backlight on. It also 'crashed' during PC-Doctor 3D video tests.
This doesn't seem to be a GPU solder connection issue as it's not affected by pushing down the GPU. It does have a short fan though. Is it a bad or stuck temp sensor or something like that?
     More details...
I bought a T40 for a friend and during unattended XP install:
    - the video blanked out (with backlight on) and there was no activity
    - forced a shutdown (held down the power button)
    - turned it back on and there was a few secs of HDD blinks but then nothing and no display
    - turned it off and on a few times, same problem
    - turned it off and waited for about 10 minutes
    - turned it on, all is normal now
After I was able to finish the XP install, I ran PC-Doctor video test:
    - it passed memory tests
    - it blanked out (backlight on) during the 3D generation tests
    - forced a shutdown
    - turned it on and no display/activity (backlight is on)
    - had to wait about 10 minutes before I could turn it on again to boot up
I re-installed XP and was able to finish the second install with no issue. If it boots up successfully, there would be no problem with light to moderate use even for a long time.
** But, if it's warm and I put it into standby or reboot it, then it wouldn't boot (or wake up from standby) unless I let it cool off for about 10 minutes. ***
I installed and configured tpfancontrol at a slightly more aggressive (noisier) setting to keep the GPU cooler even though it's doesn't have a heat sink.
As noted above, I pushed down the GPU but that didn't do anything. Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

Your T40's GPU may or may not have the "loose" problem, but the issue is definitely there, my guess would be that the card itself is failing.
Just had a planar swapped on one of my T43s due to a very similar scenario...
    Good luck.

  • Issue with video playback

I'm having an issue where video playback drops to 1 frame per second or less. The problem occurs when I have the mouse on the same screen as the video (dual screen setup) or on the second screen.
As you can see in my information, I'm running an IBM Thinkpad T43 with a Viewsonic q20wb monitor.
    Thanks for the help!

Yes, I have just used the normal Video-object together with the normal trick to load Flash Video files with it. Nothing special only with a full URL for the play()-method. I have attached the source code for your convenience. The original files are edited in Premiere Pro CS4 and are based on one original ripped DVD vob file and a newly created Quicktime-based slideshow animation which has then be edited into one using Premiere.
After that I  have selected the sequence of the Premiere project which I have exported using File > Export which is using Adobe Media Encoder. For the encoding I haved used the Export Settings: "Format FLV | F4V", Codec On2 VP6 and then altered the video size and bitrate so that the file size gets smaller this is for the Alzheimer08.f4v file. The other file used the H.265 Web Medium profile with also the video size and bitrate modified after it got encoded and uploaded to my webserver.
The original files used by the Premiere Pro project are:
    VTS_01_1.dv
    Type: DV Stream
    File Size: 2.6 GB
    Image Size: 720x576
    Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
    Compressor: DV - PAL
    Quality: Normal (3.00)
    SLIDESHOW 2.mov
    Type: QuickTime Movie
    File Size: 3.2 GB
    Image Size: 720 x 576
    Average Data Rate: 3.4 MB/Second
    Compressor: DV - PAL
    Quality: Most (5.000)
Above information is obtained in Premiere Pro by selected Properties-option of the submenu when selecting the file.
Hopefully you can use this information but I could upload the original Premiere Pro project over the next few days. If you would be interested in it.

  • How to sharpen resolution on a T43?

    Hello,
How can I make the LCD screen SHARP on my "new" T43  like my older A30? Both are set at 1024x768. Each is running the latest bios update and latest video driver and Xp Pro SP3. The fonts and general apearance of my "new" T43 lcd screen look "cartoonish" when compared to my older A30, which is CRISP and CLEAN at 1024 x 768.   If I run the newer t43 at max resolution, the screen sharpens up, however, everything is diplayed too small for my taste.
Please help, I was excited about my new machine, but with the dismal sharpness, I'm discontented.
FWIW, I'm a network admin, with experience at IBM, so don't be afraid to get technical. I've tried all the normal stuff to fix this and am open to your suggestions.
    Thanks..Nate

Your new T43 has a native resolution that's more than 1024x768. When you set the display to 1024x768 the system uses more than one real pixel to display each virtual pixel. Because the ratio of real pixels to vitual varies (your native resolution isn't a multiple of 1024x768) the result is a loss of sharpness. There's nothing you can do to fix that with the LCD panel in your T43. A couple of other options:
1 attach an external 15" 1024x768 LCD monitor.
    2. replace the LCD panel in your T43 with a compatible 1024x768 FRU.

  • N200 power is suddenly down when playing video files, or just browsing

    Hi,
    I have Lenovo 3000 N200 (type 0769) purchased 1 year ago.
Recently installed windows 7 beta on it (before I used windows xp sp3) I noticed some problems which I suspect have to do with hardware stuff (battery, power supply, overheating, etc) rather than software.
My notebook just crashes all of sudden powering down as it was on batteries only and they ran out. But I am always pluged in.
My warranty is expired, just wanted to know if you could help me with my problem, or should I just throw this notebook and buy a decent one?

    registoni,
    Welcome to the forum.
Lot of possible variables.. software perhaps. Does the system behave the same way under Win 7 as it did under XP?
Power - Will the system run on just the battery at all?  If it shuts down if you remove the power cord, then probably the battery is defective and I would suggest you replace it.  The N100 systems seem to be much more stable when they have a good battery - the N200 could behave in similar fashion.   I might also suggest checking the output of the DC adpater at the plug that goes into the notebook.  It should be about 20V DC.
When you launch applications, or play a video, the power demand will momentarily spike and either of these could cause the shut down if the available voltage suddenly drops.
Overheat?   You didn't mention whether these symptoms occur more often (or always) after the system has been running for a while or immediately upon start up.   You could check to ensure the fan is running properly and that warm air is exiting the side vent properly.   The heat sink on the output side of the fan can load up with dust and link, especially if the system were often operated on a bed or other fabric surface.
    Best regards,
    Mark
