T43 stuck in docking station

My T43 is stuck in the docking station (Type 2877).  The button to release it does not pop up properly, and the locking lugs won't let go.  Any help?

Quoting from P/N 67P5254 (ThinkPad Dock II User's Guide):
Emergency Eject:
When AC power is not supplied, the Eject button does not pop up automatically.  To make it pop up, do the following:
1. Press the Eject button.
2. Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the emergency eject hole, which is to the left of the security keyhole.
3. Using the screwdriver, move the small silver plate in the hole to the left.
(This worked for me with my T43p stuck in the 2877 docking station.)

This is the docking station the computer sits in not on.  The front is held in by two little tips and the back just snaps in. There is a lever on the left that swings out that usually "pops" the computer from the station, however it is not working. (the lever does move, but it doesn't to anything).   If I move the unit around I can hear something rattling around in there (sounds like something small).
Anyone have any ideas?  I have tried to pry the unit from the dock, not happening.  I tried to find a diagram of the dock so that I could at least see how it works, but of course I cannot find that either.  I called Lenovo, but since this is out of warranty, no one could help--i was told the only option was for me to ship it to them.
I may be positing this twice, if so, i am sorry, kind of new to this.
    Thank you,
    Nori

  • T42 & T43 Thinkpad Keyboards not working after taking from docking station

I have a t42 and t43 thinkpads, both are having the same problem.
The keyboards appeared to be disabled, I have uninstalled, reinstalled drivers etc.
Reseated keyboards physically and they still wont work.
    The glide pads work.
The only way I can get a keyboard to work in via the docking station.
    Power buttons doesn't work either.
    Any ideas?
It's almost like the keyboards are disabled, but I have checked every setting possible.
Is it possible to disable the keyboard? If so, how to reverse?

    Welcome to the forum.
Have you considered the possibility of keyboards going bad? Improperly connected? A non-functioning ower button is pretty much a dead giveaway for one of these options...
It is not possible to disable an internal keyboard, BTW.

  • Still annoying stuck at 0.8Ghz with docking station

if I put my W520 in sleep modus, put in my docking station and start it, it's still stuck at 0,8Ghz! Even throttlestop wont work here!!
taking it off and on the docking station while running makes no difference. oh wrong, there is a difference: as long it is OFF the docking station on battery only, I can get full speed with turbo boost through throttle stop, but beware if I put it on the docking station again ....
only thing I can do is restart the laptop, then I get the message: the wattage of the power adapter is too low compared to the one the system was shipeed with (I HAVE the original 170W power adapter on my docking station!!), and then it starts with TB working fine.
will these issues ever have an end, lenovo?

Thanks for information. The new BIOS totally skipped my attention.
I had power manager unsinstalles and the 1.26 Bios. with the new 1.30, the problem seems to be solved, at least this time.
    Great!

  • Will T420 Laptop Work With T61 Docking Station?

I'm getting ready to replace about 50 T61 laptops with T420. Will my existing docking stations work, or do I need to buy all new docks as well?
    Thanks

As said the T420 uses the latest generation of docking station (series 3 docking station), the T43 docking is one generation older than the T61 docking station.

  • T60 w/ Docking Station DVI - HDMI 1080p problems.

    Hi,
Im currently running vista 32bit on a T60 with a docking station trying to externally display to a 1920x1080 LCD via the DVI port on the back of the docking station to the HDMI port on the LCD (Samsung N series 40").
The problem im having is when i set the resolution to 1920x1080 the output on the LCD is not crisp and there is a 1" black border around the whole screen.  If you lower the resolution right down to 1024x 7xx (cant remember exactly what it is) it fills the screen and is crisp., but everything is just mega big..
I have the latest video drivers off the lenovo support page.
I also have a T43 running vista and it displays 1920x1080 via the DVI port on the docking station fine.
Has anybody seen this before and have any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks, Cam

  • IPad connection to docking station

Wouldn't it be nice if a future version of iPad would have a connection for the docking station at the side as well ? Some apps don't work in portrait mode and I don't want to have my iPad on my lap all the time, because I use it as main computer in the living room.

If I want my iPad vertical I remove the back cover from my OtterBox and place it in the dock. If I want it horizontal I place it in the OtterBox holder and connect it to the dock with a 3GJuice dock extender cable.
Much cheaper than buying a new iPad when/if Apple comes out with a version with two dock connectors.
Of course if you have the keyboard/dock combo you are stuck in vertical mode.

  • T420 won't dock into docking station

Have a docking station Type 4337, but T420 won't snap into place.  Same type of docking station at work, has no problem with T420 snapping in.  Seems to be binding somewhere, but cannot get it to budge.  Key is in place and in unlocked position.  Not sure if this is defective or if I am unaware of something.  Seems simple enough to use.  It appears to be stuck in the 'undock' position.  Something under the 'spring loaded' docking pad, appears to be preventing it from moving down to the 'docking' position.  I think this thing is defective.

I compared the two docking stations and identified the problem. There are two plastic hooks built into the base, one to the right of the connector, one to the left and below. In a correctly functioning station these hooks are pushed aside as the computer is inserted, then spring back, holding it in place.
On my malfunctioning station the hooks were stuck, preventing the computer from being inserted.
I was able to correct the problem by nudging the hooks with my finger, which unstuck them. If they stick again I can try some graphite lubricant.

  • Lost docking station keys

    Hi,
I've lost the docking station keys for my T420 during a move. I checked ITXchange as suggested on the Lenovo site, they don't even have them in their price list and their site doesn't actually work most of the time - not sure if this company is still in business at all.
Is there any solution? I am stuck with my dock locked to my laptop now...

The web site works from here. Try this direct link to the page:

  • NI VB connected to our docking station sometimes face boot/re-boot problems

Since we have the ‘National Virtual Bench’ connected to our docking station (USB) we sometimes face some boot/re-boot problems with our laptop.
The booting hangs, and shows below message on the display. Power Off/On doesn’t help.
It appears to be caused by the Virtual Bench, when switched On. When Switched Off, booting is okay.
Switch off the Virtual Bench box when booting/re-booting the Laptop.

Just to follow up: The behavior I was getting above (stuck at the Dell logo for ~80 seconds) was because the Dell Latitude E6330 BIOS (version A02) wasn't giving the device a standards-permitted amount of time after a particular USB control message. That problem was fixed in version A06.
I was able to reproduce your issue on the E6330 with BIOS versions A08 through A14. Those versions seems to get confused by the presence of a composite USB device with both HID and Mass Storage interfaces (such as VirtualBench). A14 is currently the latest version for that model, so I suspect this is still a problem in the latest versions for other Dell Latitudes and Optiplexes.
We're working on escalating this issue to Dell. In the meantime, the workaround is the one you've already discovered: either disconnect your VirtualBench or put it into standby (power button) while booting your laptop.

  • IPad stuck in docking mode

    Hi community, hi all,
i have a problem with my iPad (first ... sry for my bad english ... i'm not a native speaker).
    Following issue:
My iPad stuck in Docking Mode. Means i get no access to volume keys or to volume bar in the multi tasking section. The volume bar there is empty. So my iPad doesnt play any sound ...
But when i plug in earphones or when i connect my iPad to a bluetooth speaker sound is playing. And when i plug in the iPad into the docking station and pull it off (plug out... doesnt know the word).... then sound comes out of the build in speakers for about 1-2 seconds ... afterwards iPad return into docking mode and sound is away.
    What i have done ....
    ... i rebooted
    ... i hard reseted it
    ... i do a factory reset
Nothing work... but it seems to me like a software failure... dont know.
Next issue is that i have no warranty left for exchange at an apple store...
    Any ideas from you?
    Thanks for any response.
    best regards

I had resolved this issue by myself.
I thought long time about it... and then i got following idea.
I thought ... mybe there is something in the connector which think ipad is already plugged into a docking station.
    This helps me....
my idea was .... another product with another behavior to the iPad. So i take my iPad Camera Connection Kit... i stuck it into the connector leave it for several minutes ... and removed it.
My iPad turned back in normal mode ... All god. My internal speaker works again. Wuhuuuuu ... Maybe this solution would help somebody.

  • Linux and Docking stations

I ordered a docking station following the Thinkvantage links etc etc and got shipped one for a W510 - and can't find any for the W500 - did they ever make on such animal to fit?
As well, does anyone run Linux on thier W500's and have they had any luck getting drivers for the wireless to work?
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the forum!
No additional software is needed for docking a T43, presuming the original IBM pre-load is still in place.

  • W500 Docking Station and Dual Monitors

I had to re-image my laptop (W500) and install same Windows7 64 bit. There is no difference in the configuration with previous Windows7 64 bit installation. In both cases I used docking station and two attached monitors - one with VGA and second with DVI cables. Everything worked just fine before re-imaging. After completing OS installation it cannot recognize DVI port, and I'm stuck with one monitor.
Wondering if anybody had the same issue?

Ok, here is what I did - took laptop out of the docking station, reboot, changed option in the BIOS. Screen is going black that I cannot do anything with my computer. So let it boot into windows and connected remotely from another computer. Scanned for hardware changes and still nothing. Mobile Intel is shown in the Display Adapters. At this point I'm in the corner...
When I reboot laptop display started to work, so I open BIOS and Switchable option was selected again. I'm wondering if "OS Detection for Switchable Grphics" option that is "Enabled" now has something to do with it?
Update: I disable OS Detection and still nothing...

  • IPod freezes when playing from a docking station...Any ideas about a fix?

I have had my current iPod for a couple of years now, and until recently it has worked flawlessly. Over the past couple of months a problem has develoed when I play my iPod from a docking station. When I play the iPod from it's cradle (connected to my HK Soundsticks) or from my JBL Speaker Base, the iPod plays fine for the first few songs. After a few songs, the iPod stops in the middle of song and skips to the next song, then skips three of four times without playing at all and utltimately locks up completely. The problem seems to arise when I am simultaneously playing and charging.
    Any ideas?
    I am using a 40mb, clickwheel, iPod.

All I can suggest is to re-encode the video as m4v with QT Pro, there might've been a problem in encoding. Also, try sending this same video (setting TV Out to Yes) with the iPod not plugged into the dock and with an Apple RCA cable, if you have one, hooked up to a TV. If that works, the dock connector might be damaged (unlikely) but it's possible. So once you've re-encoded, see if the dock situation works then. Good luck.
