T430 BIOS update failing with -s switch
I am attempting to update the BIOS on my T430 using the -s switch. I have downloaded version 1.20 from the Lenovo site. This version says that it includes a fix for the problem with -s. However, I am still unable to flash using -s. I get an error: secure flash authentication failed
Any ideas?
Hey there bdudle1,
Here is a forum post from a few days ago with the same issue. You can look and see if this information helps you out any.

I am having a problem with the T430 bios update utility. But, I only have a problem when running the update using the -s option. If I run the update without being silent then the bios gets updated. If I use the -s option then I get this error message:
Secure flash authentication failed
press esc to continue
Anybody have any clues?
Solved!
Go to Solution.Thank you for the response. Not to sound ungrateful on the response but referenced was using -s in first post. With previous models (T60, T61, .....) when using bios update everything happened in Windows. Now with T430 it looks like (guessing because of new UEFI) it does 2 parts: part of the update within windows and after reboot there is a message comes up:
Flashing embedded controller
Please wait
This stays up for a few seconds and then restarts and then the error comes up. The log file looks like only shows what happened in windows which went fine looks like from log:
OS = Windows 7 32bit
Driver Loading....Done
System BIOS Version -> G1ET42WW
Applying BIOS Version -> G1ET44WW
System EC Version -> G1HT29WW
Applying EC Version -> G1HT29WW
AC adapter/Battery check....OK.
EC Flashing....EC Flash completed.
BIOS Flashing....BIOS Flash completed.
Again, if I run the update without silent parameter it works. Only if supply the -s parameter it has this "Secure flash authentication failed". I did notice this SCT utility comes up during the manual update that doesn't come up during the silent update. Here is a log of a manual update:
OS = Windows 7 32bit
Driver Loading....Done
System BIOS Version -> G1ET42WW
Applying BIOS Version -> G1ET44WW
System EC Version -> G1HT29WW
Applying EC Version -> G1HT29WW
AC adapter/Battery check....OK.
BIOS Flashing....BIOS Flash completed.
Did notice something different about T430 bios update that didn't happen with T410 or older bios updates. If you use the silent update the winuptp spawns a winflash32s.exe. If you use the manual update then winuptp spawns a winflash32.exe. Wondering if the winflash32s.exe has a problem possibly? -

You must install all Windows 8 Update, before you windows 8.1 Update use
Never use MS Defender and other antivirus software.
After successful system update, install this software

Hello,
I need your help. I ran HP System Diagnostics following recent BSOD incidents (about 3) on my Pavilion dv6. I ran all the tests successfully except Memory Test as it takes 6 hours (approximately).
Interestingly the BIOS test came up with an error message "The System BIOS update failed. Failed reading BIOS image file". I tried running BIOS driver update from th HP website for my dv6 notebook but I am not sure it worked. During the update the computer would shut down - is that normal?
What can I do to check that my BIOS from 25 January 2013 is the current version? More importantly prevent future BSOD appearing. I have plenty of memory, so rather intrigued. Ran Norton and Microsoft Security and no viruses etc.
Hope you can help.
Many thanks,
BarbsHi,
So the system shut down is normal for BIOS update and if I can restart the computer, therefore assuming the update worked.
I checked HP System Diagnostics the BIOS test still returns with an error message "The System BIOS update failed. Failed reading BIOS image file".
Any other suggestions?
Thanks again,

Creative Cloud update fails with "the download appears to be corrupted" when tried through our company's firewall, but succeeds if the computer is taken outside the firewall. The IT guys have opened up the ports and URL's specified in the Adobe documentation. I have also captured the network traffic of both the failed and successful downloads for IT to examine (using Little Snitch), however they can find nothing to account for the problem. Adobe just seems to "give up and die" after about 2-3 minutes. Why is this? How can I or IT fix this?
Can I send the above log files to someone familiar with these issues for examination?Hi Gveo,
Please follow the article: Creative Cloud Help | About Creative Cloud Packager which will help you to get your issue fixed.

When deploy multiple updates, some updates fail with Hash does not match expected
If I deploy a few updates (less than 5) the deployment completes without any issues. If I have a lot of updates, most the updates install with no issues but some, and not always the same update, fails with an error in the CAS.log on the client
that states "Hash does not match expected" after several reties the update will download and install.
What could be causing this?
I have setup a new folder that is not on the root of the drive. This has not help with this issue but is handy in organization.

Please help: Utility used to install the update failed with exit code {0}.
Hi,
I admit to being a relative newbie at Solaris 10 administration, so please exercise forbearance on my behalf.
I have just installed Solaris 10 11/06 on my laptop x86. Everything went fairly smoothly. I used the Installation Check Tool 1.2 to decide if my machine was adequate to run the OS and with the exception of a NIC driver, it was. I downloaded the sfe driver and configured networking and it seems to work exceptionally well. However, when I run Update Manager in JDS (the only way I know how to run it), it fails to update some of the packages. Sometimes, if I retry the same packages, sometimes it will eventually work. But it keeps failing with the following error on a consistent basis over the last several days:
Utility used to install the update failed with exit code {0}.
I hunted around on the web and the results were not promising. Is there a log somewhere that will give me the actual error or do y'all know of a quick fix.
Thanks,
WillThat is strange indeed, could you try downloading and

Windows 8 Windows Update fails with error 80244FFF
Windows 8 Windows Update fails with error 80244FFF
Hi @SURAJITsaha ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 14-b049tu Sleekbook and issues with a Windows update.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.
Plug the power adapter directly into a functioning wall outlet. Do not plug it into a power strip, surge protector, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.
You might have to temporarily disable your virus protection.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
