T430 Failed Bios Update. Five Beeps, Blank Screen.

Hi all,
I updated my T430 today via SystemUpdate, one of the update is a BIOS update. I have them download and installed. After restart, the BIOS went on then my PC suddenly restarted. Now everytime I open it I hear five short beeps then a pause then another five short beeps while having a blank screen.
Additional Info: Windows 8 64-bit, Lenovo Thinkpad T430,
Please help!
UPDATE:
I have tried the following and didn't work:
Remove the battery pack
Remove the CMOS battery
I need to know how to reset the bios if that's the solution.

Version 517 for UEFI None RAID SKU and version 717 for UEFI RAID0 SKU. My Laptop has one hard disk and other sata slot for hdd is empty. I am confused whether  which BIOS file should I use for my laptop. Please help.
    Thanks.

Power on/off your laptop. If the laptop does the same then you have to send it back for RMA.

  • PC fails to reboot and shows blank screen after automatic windows updates including SP

Pavilion- a1130n"  WINXP ProfessionalC fails to reboot and shows blank screen  after automatic install ing windows updates including SP 3

I would love to say that a refresh worked for me however it did not.It takes about 30 Minutes total I was able to trace part of the issue to a Registry Key that was tagging the processor. Because my BIOS manages its own temp gauge and windows is trying to
build on in I had to turn the BIOS one off as well as for some reason I get better funtionality with Visualization off.
I am still dealing with a lag but I was able to get ride of the freeze that made the computer completely useless.

  • Satelite P300 does not boot after failed Bios update

    Hi everyone,
I have tried to update the bios of a P300 using this :
    18/03/10
    BIOS Update
    Toshiba Windows 7 - 32 Bit 4.20-WIN32 World Wide
Which I downloaded from here: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK after entering my laptops specifications.
The flash process hanged during the update and the laptop became unbootable, blank screen when powering on and nothing else...
I tried using the Phoenix Emergency Crisis application, created a floppy disk with the Bios image file that I have earlier downloaded but managed nothing.
The USB floppy driver access the floppy when entering the recovery mode, I hear some beeps that indicate that a process takes places, but when everything stops and reboot...the problem remains.
-Has anyone got a clue what to do next?
-Is the warranty void after a bios update attempt?
    Thank you for yor time.

    Hi buddy,
You should check the forum content or with other words, use the forum search firstly before you ask something. Failed BIOS update is not unusual and can happen always. The forum contains already a lot threads about this and the only solution is contacting an ASP. The guys have professional tools to recover it.

  • Bricked x120e -- failed BIOS update

    Hi,
I was trying to update the BIOS of my x120e (0596-2RU) from within Windows 7, it got stuck (no progress for more than half an hour), now the notebook is bricked (the screen won't turn on; there's no beeps, just the fan is turned on).
I believe I followed all the instructions (battery fully charged etc.), but the Customer Support here in Ireland says failed BIOS updates are not covered by warranty (contrary to what some people on these forums say).
    What are my options now?
    Thanks a lot!

  • New K450e - Installed Graphics Card, 2 beeps, Blank screen

    Hello,
Just received my k450e with onboard HD 4600 graphics.  Put in an HD 7570 graphics card (max watts = 60). 2 beeps, blank screen. Bios is Auto for video.
    1) Is it the lower power supply that came with the computer = 280 Watts causing no video?
    2) Will the mother board (bios) take a 980 gtx if I upgrade the power supply. to appropriate specs?
Lenovo, please confirm both. It's my first time with you and I don't want to start our relationship with a return. This is a nice desktop for the money.
    Thank you

    hi rutenguten,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Regarding your questions:
    1. As per this chipset table, the HD 7570 consumes around 10-11W so the 280W PSU should be sufficient to power up this card. Using the onboard HD 4600 graphics, can you try and boot into the BIOS and set the following settings (if applicable):
    Security Tab:
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    Startup / Boot Tab:
    CSM = Enabled
Boot Mode = Legacy or Legacy First
When finished, press F10 to Save and Exit and observe if you can now boot from the HD 7570 graphics card. If this works, the UEFI firnware is likely not compatible with the HD 7570 GPU and requires the BIOS to be set to legacy mode.
    Relevant article:
After- market graphic card installed on K430 and system cannot boot
    2. I haven't seen anyone use a GTX 980 on their K450e but RogerSC posted in this thread that his K450e came with a GTX 760 so a GTX 980 should be possible coupled with the right PSU.

  • How to Roll Back a Failed BIOS Update for my HP Compaq 6735s (467826R-999) Notebook

I have searched the community and HP pages for instructions to uninstall a BIOS Update in case it fails, and I haven't found the procedure.
My notebook is an  HP Compaq 6735s (467826R-999) running the Windows 7 64 bit Professional SP1, and a BIOS revision level of HP "68GPP F.0E, 09/14/09".
Going to the Drivers/Downloads for this notebook
    http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdHome/?sp4ts.oid=3687622&spf_p...
I can see my old F.0E of 9/14/09 is super old because there is the F.21 dated 30-Jul-2012, GREAT!!    I just have to be sure I can recover from a (possible) failed BIOS Update.
Oh yeah, one more thing:  I'm not sure of the differences between the HPQFlash, the ROM Image, and the ROMPaq listed rows in the link above.  Which should I run?
    Thank you for your efforts!

Were your suggestions assuming that I had already run a BIOS update?  I have not.  I'm just trying to be sure that I can recover from a failed attempt!  I plan to run the BIOS update on 9/20/13.
So, when I follow your suggestion of Restart, then "F2", my notebook goes into a System Diagnostics menu.
I spent some time in the F10, BIOS Setup, Maintenance screens but didn't find any option to RollBack.  Again, I suppose it is because I'm running the original, F.0E version!
    I also checked the link
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c02693833
you provided to Restore your BIOS, and the tips didn't work for me - at least not with the original version installed.
If I do take the plunge, which would you recommend:
    HPQFlash
    ROM Image
    ROMPaq
    Thank you!

[Athlon64] Failed Bios update with both Live Update and Dos version = badchecksum shutdown

Sometimes bios recovery is a long shot .
But the award bios v.6 is supposed to be able to do it if the bootblock is still intact.
Best way seems to be to strip it down to minimal configuration , disconnect all drives except floppy , one ram module , perhaps without video card also .

  • Satellite M40: Is failed BIOS update covered by warranty?

    Hello,
I own a satellite M40. I had some problem with it, and tried to update the bios to see if it could solved it.
I flash the bios with the windows based utility, but the computer shutted down without any warning.
Now the notebook power up only 1s or 2, and then power off.
I bought this Toshiba, 10 months ago. So, is a failed bios update outside of the warranty ?
    Thank you

    Hello,
There is one last thing you can try if you want before taking it to your ASP. If you have a usb floppy drive, download the traditional BIOS update for your computer and ready the floppy. Once it is ready, plug the floppy to the computer. Hold down the TAB key and power on the notebook (some models have this safety feature in case of failed bios update) and see if the LEDs start blinking green and orange. If so, then it is updating the bios, once they are steady, then it is done and you can try turning it on normally again. If it does not work, then its time to take it to your ASP.

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5216 Black Screen after failed bios update

There was a Toshiba BIOS update that went awry and now the computer won't turn on. I can hear the fans and see the lights, but all there is is a blank screen.

I'm not a tech support agent, but there are a couple things I would suggest doing.
While the laptop is off and unplugged, remove the battery, hold the power button for 10 seconds, restore the battery, and try the laptop again. If that doesn't work, try booting on only AC power without a battery.
If you still don't have any luck, give support a call at (800) 457-7777.
    Good luck!

  • MSI H61M-P23 (B3) - Failed BIOS Update, PC Won't Boot

I attempted to update the BIOS on my MSI H61M-P23 motherboard and the update failed.  Attempted to reboot the PC and no longer have access to the BIOS and the PC does not boot.  Additionally, there are two short beeps in POST.  Any suggestions on resolving this issue?

I don't recall what the old BIOS version was, but whatever the newest version that's available for download from MSI is what I attempted to flash.  I ran the BIOS update in Windows and my PC froze for over an hour and wouldn't respond, so I powered it down and went to power it back up and now I get a blank screen and two beeps in POST.
which version exactly you tried to update?

  • Satellite P100-240 wont boot up after failed BIOS update

Hi, let me just start by saying im an idiot....
Dowloaded a few drivers for my toshiba p100 240 and noticed there was a BIOS update, i downloaded it and ran the program only for it to come up with
an error that it will only allow the Administrator to run program. My laptop became slow and would not allow me to turn it off by any means. In the end i took out the
battery and restarted only to find a blank screen, no start up or anything on screen.
I fear i have totally killed my machine and its about 4 months out of warrenty, Im sure there is no cheap miricle cure for this but if anyone can give me my options here I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks for your time,
    Martin.

    Hi mate,
Thats a bit of a problem... If your machine really wont boot up and no screen comes up, then your BIOS was probably damaged.
I would really recommend you to contact an [authorized service partner|http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_whitepaper.jsp?service=EU&WHITEPAPER_ID=0 000000871] and tell them your problem. Maybe they can do something for. I mean, your machines hardware is ok, and its just some BIOS related thing.
Hope your machine will work again..

  • G4Ti4200-TD Failed Bios Update

Using MSI Live Monitor, an update was offered for my vga card. Stupidly I accepted, and Live Update 3 soon produced a poor door stop when the update "Failed". After reading the manual regarding Twin Bios & moving jumpers, I soon found "MY" MSI card had no such dang thang!! 3 days ago I e-mailed MSI support, as well as today, but all I have received has been thier automatic responce, having me look for ansewers in all the wrong places. Since the eprom is wiped clean, Live Monitor can't find the card, Live Update is useless. I did read in a similar Forum post back in July, GlennVidia helped a guy with the same video card as I, get a down load to reflash his Vga Bios. I need the same, please help. My card :
    G4Ti4200-TD    MS 8870      Large ups # on back: G4ti4200-TD0210116850,
    Small ups # 2A00290502,    Green sticker on Bios chip: N8870 / MS110
    Printed # on board: 8870 ver:10A

           IT LIVES!!!!!!
Thank You Glenn for the download !!!!
All went well after a few quirks. Downloaded the compressed files onto my hard disk, unzipped the individual files to a clean floppy. I made a MS DOS Boot Disk  floppy inside Win XP, and shut down the computer. I had been using an old PCI video card to see what I was doing. This Intel motherboard would only reconize the PCI card after setting Sys Bios to PCI Graphics, not AGP. I rebooted with the MS DOS Boot Disk from Win XP, and to my suprise I could not access the nvflash or any of the other files. Only after rebooting with an Win98se bootdisk could I access the Nvidia files.
I read somewhere in past fourm posts, about Nvidia flash utilities needing dos4gw to run. Win98 boot disk must have it, Win XP does not?! Anyway, I ran nvflash -f (Bios Filename) and more trouble!
Nvflash reported it was exiting do to "signal SIGSEGV error=0004" I figured the problem was the flash utility could not find a signal from the AGP card since the mob Bios was set to PCI Graphic. I had already known the AGP setting with a dead Bios AGP card would produce no video, so before I rebooted blind I practiced the key strokes.
Booted with Win98 Boot disk, Striking 3 (to tell startup not to load CD capablities)
inserted the floppy with nvflash and the Bios file, typed the proper file name and waited about 20 seconds. To my delite a beep was heard, and after restarting Win XP....   POOF!!!    The card is reborn.  Thanks again, I've learnrd my lesson about video Bios updates.
