T430 - HD 4000 - 3 Monitors - how to ?

Hi
Trying to get 3 monitors working with my current setup - i have 2 monitors working fine - i just want to add a third.
I have a T430 with HD4000 - and the Minidock 90W - the 4337 model with VGA, DVI and Displayport.
According to the spec for the minidock http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-72871 you can only use 2 or the 3 video ports simultaneously, BUT ... there are threads on the web that indicate that you can use the miniDisplayport on the laptop itself along with the displayport and DVI or VGA on the dock to get 3 monitors running.
Now i have the following cables to hand - DVI to DVI, VGA to VGA, Displayport to DVI, mini DisplayPort to VGA, but whatever combination that i use gives the same result - 2 of the 3 monitors work. All 3 monitors are actually recognised because i can display to any combination of 2 of them - i just cannot get all 3 to display.
In the Intel Graphics Control Panel i can chosee to output to Extended desktop for Monitor + digital display, or Monitor + digitial Display 2, or Digital display + Digital display 2 - just not all 3 together.
If you look at the screenshot in this article http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT074304 you will see 3 displays listed - i only see 2 BUT each drop down box for Primary and Second display have all 3 monitors!
I am confused at this stage - does this work or not ? I imagine i can buy i usb2vga type adapter, but i would rather not.
Thanks for the help.

Looking at the screenshot you referenced, it appears you don't have the necessary cables to connect three monitors. You need at minimum, two DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables (which means your two digital monitors will also need DisplayPort inputs). According to the screenshot, using a DVI dongle adapter with a DisplayPort cable is NOT a supported alternative. So you need two monitors that have DisplayPort input, so you can connect DP from the dock to DP on the monitor directly. Then you can use either the VGA port or the mini Display to VGA for your third monitor.
This is my first time providing feedback, I'm not a Lenovo support staff, but this is what I got from the screenshot you provided and the cables you listed.

  • External monitor, how to switch of internal monitor

With a second, external monitor, how do I switch of or darken the internal iMac monitor? In particular together with a beamer the screen light is disturbing. (however it works seemless great with a 720p beamer!)

    Hello Joe.
System Preferences : Displays: Brightness bar is at the bottom.
This will allow you to darken the screen a bit, and is currently the only way I know that will allow you to do what you want.
For faster access you can select the "show displays in menu bar", which will allow you to access the Displays system preferences pane from the menubar at all times.

  • Monitor how many client is connected

How can I monitor how many clients is connected to my statefull controller bean? I want to used it as a part of my license application.
I have tried to make a static variable "clients" which increase when ejbcreate is called and decrease when ejbremove is called. But this solution is not realible? Any other solution?

Hi...why dont you keep a counter in the class / java bean which calls this stateful controller bean ? That way each hit would be registered and you wont be relying on instance creations for an actual count.
    Just a thought.

  • Source Monitor - How Toggle Audio/Video Split?

I am new to Premiere and have inadvertently set the source monitor (or my clip or my sequence) so that the audio and video tracks can be manipulated separately in the source monitor:
How can this be toggled on and off? That is, how do I go back to manipulating the audio and video tracks together rather than independently of each other?
(In my clip the audio and video tracks have not been unlinked.)
    Thanks!
    Steve

Thanks - I must have somehow done a "Mark Split" and set an audio or video in or out point.
However, when I right-click the options "Clear In", "Clear Out" and "Clear In and Out" are disabled.

  • High PPI Support Multiple Monitors: How it comes that Remote Desktop implements the hight PPI support very well and win 8.1 doesnt?

    http://skovalev.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/RemoteDesktop-HighPPI-Perfect.png
Hello all: i am using an High PPI Monitors from Dell XPS15 (3600x1800) and a Normal FullHD above it. The FullHD monitor is an external device and is set up as the primary device. Scaling is set to per Monitor DPI.
Now the Question: how it comes, that my RemoteDesktop on the secondary (internal) screen has almost perfect implementation for this????
BUT i am am talking only about the RemoteDekstopManager, normal one does not works with high ppi in this way... Also ModernUI has no problems with scaling
    http://skovalev.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Firfox-and-Resolution-RemoteDesktop.png
NOTE that the resolution on the remote desktop is set to 1600x900 and there are NO scaling problems even on the 3200x1800 monitor!
On both picutures you find the dell monitor on the bottom and the scaled original windows explorer/firefox on the bottom right. See how blurry it is? I really breaks my eyes :(
I hope Microsoft can finally fix the high PPI Monitors issue, since the solutions seems to be already implemented

No, i mean the Scaling Support.
If you use multiple monitor, in windows 8.1 you can scale per monitor. If you use this option with a High PPI monitor, like ultra HD or 4K, the image on the monitors with other PPI than the main monitors appears fuzzy and blury.
But there are also scaling problems even if you use only single monitor. This article blog describes it pretty good:
    http://www.hanselman.com/blog/LivingAHighDPIDesktopLifestyleCanBePainful.aspx
By the way there are lot article like this describing the scaling problems, not only by users but also by professinals and IT magazines...
BUT here it comes: watch @ my screenshots. If the remote desktops resolution is 1800x900 and the native resolution is 3600x1800, there are no scaling problems! HOW? So like you can see on my screenshots a native application on my monitor appears fuzzy while
the same application runnin of the remote desktop has clear type!
That means for me, that windows HAS the possibility to scale clearly, but somehow this feature is only supported by RDCM...

  • I have a white round spot about one inch in diameter on my monitor; how can i get rid of it?

I have a white spot, about one inch in diameter, on my iMac monitor.  It does not go away even after I restart the computer.  What is the cause and how do I get rid of it?

It has now disappered after I had shut down the computer.  It was opaque and oval.  All applications so it must have been a monitor problem.  Thanks.

  • External monitor: how to make toolbar visible on both

I have an external monitor attached to my MacBook Pro and it is currently set up as the secondary monitor. Somehow I managed to get the resolution I wanted on both screens, i.e., greater on external without mirroring. But how do I view the toolbar/dock on both. My husband has done it on his, but doesn't know how he did. On the other hand, he must sleep his laptop to get the appropriate resolution on external.
How to make both things happen?
    Thanks, Marion

RETRACTION My husband was confused or I was. Double toolbar only with same resolution on both screens.
    Sorry.

  • Extended monitor: how do I maximise windows + trouble using PC keyboard

I've got an external monitor attached to my Macbook Pro
How do I maximise a window in the extended monitor?
When I maxmise, it just pops back to my mac screen
ALSO: any advice on using a PC keyboard?
I'm finding it fiddly using the Windows button
    ALSO: swiping... I cant do
I have the Macbook Po on a laptop raiser
Can I swipe with the mouse somehow?
    Thanks
    Omar

    What OS are you running?
There is no shortage of keys so if it is smaller it just means it is has less bulky and wated space. The wireless ones do not have a number pad if that is what you mean. Apple has a USB "full size" keyboard with number pad.
I assume, since you are listed the price as pound, you are in the UK?
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB110DK/B/apple-keyboard-with-numeric-keypad?f node=56&p=1
The track pad is the same as the one on the laptop just bigger and wireless.
I have a MacBook Pro with two additional displays so I use the Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad. I find gestures to be a great time saver and would never go back to a mouse.

  • T430s 2352CTO 2 external monitors and laptop's LCD - is it possible?

    Hello,
I'm new to this forum, actually this is my first post, but I've been reading it for a while. I searched and searched and read till I'm blue in my face plus ran bunch of experiments and still can't figure out the issue.
this article clearly states it is possible to run triple display setup (assuming 1 of them is laptop's LCD) and 2 others are on Display Ports. http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=HT074304
But in my experience it is impossible.
I have 2 identical ViewSonic monitors (VG2236) connected to a Mini Dock Plus (433815U) via Display Port to DVI cables. In this configuration I can only use these two monitors or one of them in conjunction with laptop's LCD.
Windows display utility recognises all three displays but will shut the third one down if I try to extend the desktop to more than 2.
Please confirm that this configuration is possible or what am I doing wrong.
I really need to be able to use laptop's LCD and 2 external dispays for my work, that's the reason I bought the i7 version with descrete graphics
    Thanks,
    Sergei

You'll want to make sure you have all of the most recent drivers and BIOS updates installed.

  • After creating a Powershell script monitor - how to import in Operation Manager 2012 ?

    Hello!
I just completed all the steps in this article:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16752.management-pack-composition-exercise-2-creating-a-monitor-based-on-a-windows-powershell-script.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage
So now I guess that the just created Management Pack should be imported in Operation Manager 2012, and then also folders and views should be created in order to have it showing green/red based on the values returned by the script.
In the article there's no pointer to that procedure, so can you please provide a good link where the steps are explained?
    thanks!

Have a look at the following video, it steps through how to create rules and monitors using PowerShell scripts
