Hey,
After installing new ram under the keyboard, the top right corner of the key board, near the power on flexs a bit when I push down. Can someone iwth a T430 tell me if that corner should be snug? If so I must have not alinged the keyboard properly.
Thanks

Make sure none of the wires are improperly routed and keeping the keyboard from making proper contact with the rollcage.

  • Alt+ characters on Lenovo T430 keyboard

    Hello everyone,
How can I insert alt+ characters on T430 keyboard? For example, if I wanted to insert en dash on my regular desktop keyboard, I would press alt+0150 (on numeric keyboard). However, I cannot find the right combo on my thinkpad keyboard.
    Thanks for your help,

In order to execute those ASCII/ANSI codes, you must have NumLock on.  The involves the Fn (blue) key.  With it on, you then use alt  = the small numbers located on the lower right coner of keys to the right of the Trackpoint head.
This is not easy.  I prefer to run charmap.exe, minimize it to the task bar, and copy/paste the characters I need.
I don't know if the old standard way (Num Lock On, ALT+nnn) would work with an external full keyboard.
That would be fine if the built in keyboard actually had a number lock key and the small function numbers and characters on the letter keys.  A design flaw as far as I am concerned and a total pain without this functionality.
The other key that is missing is the Windows context menu key to the left of the right Ctrl key - I constantly use this (or did).  Instead we have a PrtSc key.
I'll be asking out IT department to find me another laptop.

  • Free download, and install question

    Free download, and install question.
I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC.  I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Adobe Reader and Flash.  When down loading and installing it does not give me the option to install in a defferent location other then my C: drive.  Can this be done?  Thanks you?

From the MSI you have to create a MST (Transforms). In the MST create now the new property INSTALLDIR=F:\, where F: is your USB-drive. If you use then the command
    msiexec.exe /i [MSI] transforms=[MST]
Adobe Reader should be installed to F:

  • T430 keyboard problems

    Hello,
I have a keyboard problem currently and I am trying to figure out the most efficient way of solving it.
My "W" key is hard to press, my "Q" key popped out (glued it back on) and my "(TWO)" key doesn't work at all.
I do play games and I'm a buttonmasher and yes I have definitely learned my lesson of not abusing it.
Now I was wondering if theres anyway of replacing the specific keys or i'd have to replace the whole keyboard,
and if i can replace just the specific keys, is there a normal version and a backlight version?

I think you'd better replace the whole keyboard,
the T430 keyboard is  a separate accessory,
And it is not very expensive, you can buy one to replace it
    for example:http://www.ebay.com/bhp/t430-keyboard
     hope it help

After installing Windows 7 did you also install the Chipset Driver, Intel ME Driver, Keyboard and Mouse Driver and the USB 3 Driver?  If you didn't then that would account for the various hardware items not being recognized.  Always install the Intel Drivers first and then the rest.

  • Jampack and keyboard connection questions

    2 questions:
    1. I have just bought GB Jampack (the one with lots of extra loops), but can't seem to notice any difference. How do I know that the disc has downloaded OK? Can't remember how many loops were there in the first place!
    2. I'm trying to connect an Roland SK-50 Soundcanvas keyboard. Do I need some sort of interface or drivers before it will work?
Very basic questions, I know, but hey, that's what this discussion group is for isn't it?!
    Regards
    Mark

How do I know that the disc has downloaded OK?
If you bought the JamPack DVD you didn't download anything. Did you run the installer on the JamPack DVD?
To see just loops from your JamPack disc, open the Loop Browser and click on the top bar where it likely says "Loops" with a double arrow, and select "JamPack 1". Then only loops from the JamPack will show in the loop browser.
    Re: the Keyboard
What kind of conection doesd it have? All I could find was " complete with direct Mac or PC connection" and "Connections: MIDI In, MIDI Out, MIDI Thru, Line In (LR), Line Out (LR), Computer port, and 1/8" stereo headphones jack."
"Computer Port" isn't very specific. Is it a USB connection? You might need to find a driver for it. Does the Manual say anything about installing software to make it work?

  • T430 Keyboard malfunction

    Hi everyone.
I am experiencing a serious problem with my just recently acquired T430 - specifically with its keyboard:
    - It seems like the keyboards circuits / electrical contacts are not very well isolated resp. poorly designed (at least that's my explanation for the problem) - so that pressing a or in my case some specific keys triggers multiple other keys! Mainly the upper part of the keyboard is affected (Tab/Number/F/Hotkey - Rows).
    - Now - I had this problem like after one month using the laptop - I called the support and got replaced the keyboard (great service) but now - like again one month later - it seems like exact the same malfunction occurs again!
I don't think, that I am using and treating my laptop the wrong way... au contraire I am almost too careful handling it.
    So
    - Does anybody else have/had the same problem?
    - Do you think the problem could even be a software malfunction and not based on hardware?
    - What can I - what should I - what would you do?
Any input and help is appreciated!
    Greetings

    Good Afternoon Guenst,
If you have replaced the keyboard and you are still having a problem you may want to send your system in for repair at the depot.
Usually when a problem like yours persists, the problem the system seems to be having does not have an obvious solution.
I recommend calling the support line and having them set you up to send in your system for repair.
The repair depot might be able to better pinpoint and fix your keyboard issue.

  • Third-party keyboard security question

    Hello everyone,
Apple says that third-party keyboard developers have access to all of the data user types. Then it says "If you enable Full Access", developers are permitted to access, collect and transmit the data you type".
    So my questions are:
    1. Do developers have access to the data I type with full access enabled or no?
    2. If I'm using apple keyboard but third-party keyboard is installed do they still have access to the data I type?
For example: When I access to my credit card I will use apple keyboard but while I'm chat in Facebook or watsApp I use third-party keyboard. Do they(Third-party keyboard devs) have access to my credit card password?

NO.  The 3rd party keyboard is only communicating with your iPad.

    Hello everyone,
I am considering purchasing the t430. The only problem I have is that I live in Canada and I would like to get the French AZERTY keyboard instead of the french acnor or the french canadian QWERTY keyboard on it. Does anybody know if it is possible to order it with the french keyboard in canada? Or can i buy the t430 and then take it to someone to replace the keyboard?

From my data base search I can't see any part or fru number for a keyboard of the type you want. I would recommand talking to sales and seeing what they can do for you. If you could post back and let me know how it went that would be great.

  • T430 keyboard flex?

I recently got a T430 and noticed there is some flex on the left side of the keyboard, and also in the area of the trackpoint. It makes the keys there sound slightly more "hollow" than on the right side where there is no flex. It's a minor issue but it is slightly annoying, is there a way to fix this or am I just being overly picky?

    Hi, zach890
I've never heard of this issue before, so it should be possible to fix. One thing you could try is to remove the keyboard from the system and inspect the underside of the keyboard, as well as the components underneath and the bezel for any irregularities.  The keyboard is removable by customer without voiding the warranty, but I would recommend to be careful just to make sure nothing happens to the system.
To remove the keyboard, you will need to remove the battery and then the memory module slot cover. There will be two screws in here that need to be removed. Once done, the keyboard can gently be lifted from the system and removed. You can find a video demonstrating any of these steps here. Also, here is the Hardware Maintenance Manual, where removal steps for items are also listed. Let me know if you've any questions.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Yosemite Clean Install Questions

Due to poor Yosemite performance on a Mid 2009 MBP.  I am considering doing a clean install.  I have a few questions to answer before I start as I am not an expert
    1.  I use time machine for backup.  If after erasing and reinstalling the program, will restoring from a time machine backup bring any of the "dirty" settings back in to the system?
    2.  All I really care to keep is photos, iTunes music, some miscellaneous documents, iWork, checkbook app with the data, safari bookmarks and passwords.  Is there a better way to back these items up specifically instead of a full backup?  and would this be a better option then above.
    3.  Are the performance gains really worth it?  Can I expect this computer to run like it did when it was brand new or is that out of the question?
    4.  Are there any tips, tricks or common problems I should know before starting?
    Thank you for your help

    Thank you Sir

  • Q10 Keyboard Shortcut Question/Suggestion

I've entered several keyboard shortcuts.  One of them is a person's name that I text regularly.  The keyboard shortcut works in the body of a text, but not in the address field.  Keyboard shortcuts should work in these fields also.  I repeatedly text this person and don't want to start typing their name everytime.  I want the three letter shortcut to automatically pull up the name.

The available keyboard shortcuts are also listed here in this forum, but that's not the user's question..

  • Upgrading to  Mountain Lion Pre Install Questions

    HI:
I will be installing Mountain Lion Next week.
I have read through many of the turotrials and quired most of the following  I still have a few questions.
I have some concerns in particular regarding the contents of my mail boxes and mail.
I have backed up unto an external harddrive using time machine. When I click on the mail app I can't access it and see if the contents are there. I just get a window showing the specs.
From what I have read all my documents applications and system info are backed up.
1} Will the contents of Mail Inbox and personal Mail Boxes be either on the external drive or in Mail itself after I upgrade?
2} Will I need to up grade iWork  and other Mac programs after the upgrade?
3} Does time machines automatic backup, back up everything or do I need to do a manual back up for some thing?
4} Will I need to load new drivers for external devices such as my printer and mouse?
5} Will I need to reload third party soft ware such as Adobe Elements 9?
6} Will my bookmarks and homepage be saved in Safari?
Lot's of Questions, I have limited broad band width and will need to do most of this from a friends and internet cafes so I need to be prepared time wise and finanancialy as some things will have to be done at home and are going to push me into the next teir of my flex plan, possibly past the final teir.
Any and all advice will be appreciated.
    Pantheria

    1. You have a backup of your mailboxes in Time Machine that you can restore, but Mail won't modify your mailboxes during the upgrade. The first time you open Mail after the upgrade, it will upgrade your mailboxes to be able to work with that new version.
    2. If you upgrade from Snow Leopard, you should know that there's a newer iWork '09 version for Lion and Mountain Lion that make it compatible with iCloud, so you will have to install updates for iWork at least. Respecting to other apps, you have to consult it with the developer.
    3. Time Machine makes a backup of everything in your OS X partition, and it makes automatic, hourly backups. If you want, you can also make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility's Restore feature in another external disk. The advantage is that you can start the Mac from it.
    4. Theoretically, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion use the same printer drivers. Respecting to the mouse, if you are using a third-party mouse, you have to consult with the developer if your mouse is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
    5. Third-party apps won't be deleted unless they aren't compatible. See > http://www.roaringapps.com
After downloading OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make a bootable copy with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to download OS X Mountain Lion each time you have to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion

  • Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Install Problem

I am trying to install my wireless keyboard and mouse onto my Mac OS X 10.3.9. My dad had this computer before me and had the mouse and keyboard paired and working. After it was shipped to me, I attempted to pair these again with no luck. THe bluetooth won't recognize either and if i try and run the KeyboardandMouse.pkg as instructed, the icon simply isn't there when I insert the disk. I've attempted to pair using the system preferences, but it cannot locate either the keyboard and mouse. Yes, I do have new batteries installed and the lights do blink when switched on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hello again:
Try trashing the BT preference file (com.apple.bluetooth.plist) and restarting.
If that does not work (although it will take you a bit of time), I think I would try an archive and install:
