T430 powering down when plugged in

Hello,
I got a new T430 2342 and every time I plug in the charger it powers off and then shows error 0251 System CMOS checksum bad. I set the clock and then it boots again. If the PC is switched off, the same things happens, pc turns on and same error shows up. I have the 9 cell battery and the 90W power supply. (Checked with another power supply, still the same. I don't have another battery to try with)
Can you tell me if there is an easy fix, cause the closesest service center is 25 km away and I need the laptop all the time.

Doesn't anyone have an idea?
When the battery is out and I plug it adapter everything is OK. Just when the battery is in there is an error. Please help!

it happens randomly but many times it happens b4 i can even sign into windows. tried restoring but it turned off while i was doing that and all restore points but one was left after that so i went back to factory install. it seems worse and now chrome has all sorts of errors. it runs on battery okay besides these new chrome errors and when i 1st got it, it used to sit in loading windows for ages but that stopped after a few weeks.
some1 please help, my computer is important to me.
*edit* sometimes it won't charge as well and if the cord is in a certain position the charging light will go off,and when i have it on and using it, the power cord will make it power down no matter the charge lvl. very rarely it can stay on while plugged in.
is it possible this is a problem with the power adapter?

  • Pc powers down when i try to synch

I recently updated to newest itunes version, now my pc powers down when i try to synch my ipod touch 3rd generation device.  After about 10 shutdowns I deleted all the apple software on my machine and reinstalled it but it still drops out when trying to synch up.  Any help would be appreciated, my pc is a gateway running vista home premium, it has 3 gb of memory and 500 gb hard drive.  Not sure what is triggering the power off other than Itunes.

Update:  I think my problem may have had something to do with the number of apps i had in my library that were trying to get onto my ipod. I have unchecked the synch tab for the apps and it seems to be loading the music portion of my library without incident so far.  I will load the apps as I need them.

  • IMac Powers Down When On Sleep Mode?

Hello, I have been using an iMac at work and it just recently started powering down when left idle. This has been a reoccuring problem for a few days now and I would like to know a solution as soon as possible. Thank you.

    Somebody? Anybody?

  • IPod 3rd gen. powers down when I plug into computer

I just got a used iPod 3rd generation with 10 gigs. I completely charged its battery. Then I plugged it into my computer to transfer my songs. As my computer was starting to process the new hardware, the "your battery is low, please connect to a power source" popped up. The iPod subsequently shut down. I thought perhaps the iPod needed to be charged again, to "wake it up" or something. I did just that. Then I plugged it in again. This time, iTunes recognized it. I clicked the "sync" option. Within moments of doing so, the iPod gave me the same low battery warning and shut down. About 30 seconds after each incident I could turn my iPod back on with the batter meter at full charge. My iPod gives the same warning and powers down every time I connect my iPod to my computer. The connection lasted a couple times long enough to sync about 10 songs. I have tried plugging into different USB ports, charging between each incident. I have no idea what the problem is unless the whole iPod is screwed up and I was gyped out of $60.

    Thanks, Mitch
I charged it from a wall charger w/o the USB adapter, so I'm good there.
For the 2nd question: if my battery was bad, why does the iPod say it has low battery and shut down while it is connected to the computer, when, directly afterward, I can restart the iPod and it will display either a full or three-quarters full battery?

  • AirPort Extreme powers down when iMac is shut down

9-month old AirPort Extreme, with two hardwire connections: one to the DSL modem, and one to an iMac. After months of perfect performance and reliability, the AirPort extreme now completely powers down as soon as the iMac is shut down or goes to sleep. It powers back up with the iMac. Logging out the iMac to another user account does not shut down the AE.
Naturally, we checked the electrical supply for all three devices and they are all plugged into a perfectly ordinary surge supressor strip.
We're thinking the AE has a hardware failure...but what kind of bizarre symptom is this that it shuts down when it loses signal from it's only Ethernet client?

This is certainly odd. Have you tried a different port on the AEX?
It may be best to contact Apple about a warranty exchange.

  • Pavilion TX2000: Shuts down when plugged in, runs perfect on batter. Any help?

It's been a pain, but I basically revived a dead Pavilion TX2110us (replaced the motherboard, installed windows 7, recovered missing drivers, ect.) and it's been running great when powered by the battery. Big downside to that is the battery life isn't great. Typically about maybe 2 hours on battery saver settings. However when I have it plugged in to the power source, I'll get anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes before it just powers off on its own. I have tried to configure the power settings and it has seemed to help somewhat, but the problem for the most part still exists. Does anyone know how I can fix this permanently? I would really like to be able to get the maximum performance out of it while plugged in without the worry of everything powering down every so often.

    HI Aframie,
Please provide your complete product number only. Instructions on finding your product number can be found here.
I also need the your operating system and whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit. Is this the factory installed operating system or have you upgraded your operating system?

  • IPhone 4S only powers on when plugged into a wall charger, stuck in bootloop

Today I went to get my phone's screen fixed. At first, the problem was that the phone was rebooting every 3-4 minutes. Then, after it died, it doesn't power on anymore, except when it is plugged into a wall charger. However, it is stuck in a bootloop, where it shows the apple logo for about 7 seconds, then the screen goes black for about 5 seconds, then repeats. I can't unplug it or else the phone goes dead, and plugging it into my computer results in the same deadness. I've tried DFU Mode, Recovery and everything else when plugged into my computer, but it remains dead and black screened. The phone is not picked up at all, it doesn't power on or anything. It only powers on when it is wall charged, but it will bootloop. I can't get past this, and there is no way I can restore it. Help?

Your battery is dead. You will have to replace it see article:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.

Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Macbook shuts down when plugged

I have my macbook for 2 years, and last month it started to behave in a weird way.
First when I let the battery drain out it shuts down when the battery reaches around 2-3%, it doesn't go into deep sleep. I've checked the battery capacity and it's around 2852mAh, and the check battery sign just started to pop. I'll probably have to buy a new battery. (That doesn't bother me much, because I use it mainly plugged on power.)
But last week it has gotten worse, now my macbook started to shut down when it's plugged. It takes a minute so I can reboot it (not even the battery indicator works for a while), and the charger stops working right after it's off. I'm using a new 85w charger (the old one got ripped off), because they don't sell the 65w here in Brazil. Needless to say I've tried do reset the SMC, PRAM, NVRAM.
Ps: On january I upgraded my RAM with some used module I got from buddy of mine.
Pps: You should know that there's no apple store in Brazil. Don't tell me to ask the genius :P

I took my macbook to a apple technical support provider, and they're replacing my charger. I wonder if the faulty charger could have damaged my battery, the check battery sign first appeared after the shutdowns caused by the charger.

  • Creative MuVo TX FM - powers down when scrolling (how to f

I recently purchased a 28Mb Creative MuVo TX FM and thought I might share my experience with other members of this forum.
Not being experienced with MP3 players I duly followed the instructions and copied some wma files from my XP PC onto the MP3 player via USB / Windows Explorer, preset the FM stations and I was away. Oh the joy of having it work first time!
However, whenever I fast forwarded 3 songs or rewound about 4 songs using the scroller, the unit would instantly power down without warning. I thought it was a damaged file (or two) so deleted what I thought were the damaged songs ..... without success. The battery was brand new and the indicator on the LCD showed a full charge but I changed it anyway, without success. Oh the agony of new technology!
So I pulled out the CD, read the manual, found the creative website, found this forum and then ..... nothing! I did a search on the forum and found one other person who had similar problems (there may be more but maybe it was my search words) but I couldn't find a suitable answer. There is nothing in the Creative Knowledge Base and insofar as I can see, no relevant FAQ's.
Back on the Creative webpage I found a firmware upgrade here and after downloading and installing the firmware upgrade (and a reformat courtesy of the upgrade) and reloading the songs, hey presto! Problem solved!
So thanks to Creative for the support and if you are experiencing the same problem (auto shut down when scrolling), try downloading and installing the firmware upgrade per the link above.
    Andrew.

    Interesting...
I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. I received my MuVo TX FM 52MB with firmware .2.04 and upgraded it to .3.03, but fortunately never had your problem.
Do you know which version you used while experiencing the shutdown-problem?
Not that it is important to me, I'm just curious.

  • Ipod shuts down when plugged in to one port does nothing on any other

Ok here we go. I have a Ipod 5th gen 80gb. My computer is home built but the usb ports well with every other device. I'm using windows vista with SP1 installed and a dual boot of linux. Everything was great with my ipod untill just recently when there was a short in my usb cable. I went out and bought a new cable, now the ipod says "No battery power remains please plug in cable" when I plug it in to the front USB ports on my computer. It will do nothing when plugged in to any other port. It will do this no matter if I'm in disk mode, diagnostic mode or regular mode on my ipod. but this is only on the front USB ports on my desktop I've tried them on my HP dv6000 laptop, and every other port on my desktop but on any of those ports the ipod does nothing no charge signal, no response on the computer nothing at all. I'm at a loss for words with this, scoured the internet looking for info to no avail.

Do you have a wall power plug for your ipod? It sounds like it has run dead enough to where the usb ports arent giving the amount of power it needs to charge.

  • T400 Shuts down when plugging in monitor with VGA

My T400 shuts down instantly when I plug I my monitor (Dell WA2209). If I shut down the computer, and then try starting the computer with the monitor plugged in, the computer shuts down almost instantly after I press the power button.  In each case, I have to unplug the computer, and remove the battery, before I can try turning the computer on again.  I have installed the latest power manager, video drivers and bios. On the odd occasion, I am able to plug in my monitor without the computer shutting down.  This happens when using integrated and discrete graphics.  It worked for almost a year just fine, and just recently started doing this.  Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
Other info: Win 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
    Solved!

  • 2009 iMac Powers On When Plugged In

    2009 iMac7,1 Core 2 Duo, 10.10.3
If I shut it down, unplug the power cable, then plug it back in, it immediately powers on.  I reset the PRAM but obviously with this problem I cannot reset the SMC, so I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

It's in a power strip/surge protector, no UPS.  Tried plugging it directly into a different outlet. Turned on as soon as I plugged it in.
    Thanks,
    Jeff
